Harvesting Magic: From Farm to Freedom

Sunshine & Bubbles Season 1 Episode 16

Send us a text

Discover the healing wisdom hiding in plain sight as we delve into the remarkable properties of milk thistle—that prickly plant you've likely stepped on but never considered medicine. Learn how this often-overlooked herb supports liver health, aids in detoxification, and even helps nursing mothers with milk production. The plant's Latin name, Silybum marianum, reveals its connection to powerful compounds while its thorny exterior and medicinal interior symbolize the balance of protection and vulnerability we all navigate.

Meanwhile, our farm has transformed into a monarch butterfly sanctuary where we're witnessing the miraculous process of metamorphosis. From tiny eggs to hungry caterpillars to gold-flecked chrysalises, these creatures offer profound lessons about transformation and trusting life's processes. With only one in ten monarch eggs surviving in nature, our conservation efforts feel especially meaningful as we prepare for their incredible migration to Mexico.

Between abundant herb harvests, hemp advocacy work, and preparations for back-to-school season, we're finding moments to ground ourselves in nature's rhythms. There's something magical about recognizing that the plants often dismissed as "weeds" contain powerful medicine—a reminder that healing and wisdom surround us if we simply slow down enough to notice.

Speaker 1:

All right and everything is going to work just proper. Ah, hoop, hoop, hoop, hoop, live or live. We're living baby. I'm so happy to be back in this space again, me too.

Speaker 2:

Welcome home.

Speaker 1:

Bubbles. Yo, it's good to be here. Home is where the heart is, always and forever. I missed all these shenanigans on this farm there's so many.

Speaker 2:

There is Between kittens and caterpillars and plants, and you name it Mosquitoes.

Speaker 1:

Jello dropping. Who dropped the jello? Who dropped the jello? Do you know who dropped the jello?

Speaker 2:

No.

Speaker 1:

You don't.

Speaker 2:

No, where did it fall I?

Speaker 1:

didn't see it. Everywhere it's red. Yeah, they made red gelatin and it spilled all over in front of the refrigerator. I think they were probably trying to put it in the fridge. Put it in there. I was at the laundry ma'am.

Speaker 2:

I was harvesting. I'm not sure what happened. I'm sorry, I was like.

Speaker 1:

I don't care who spilled the Jell-O, but there's some still left on the woodwork. You could tell they tried cleaning it up. Real good, because there was a ton of paper towel in the garbage can.

Speaker 2:

Aha, and maybe with her red hands.

Speaker 1:

Yes, she's like Mom, and she showed me her arm like caught red-handed. But she's like but I didn't spill the jello, I was just eating it off the counter with my hands, yeah, with my. I was just eating with my hands. I'm like, really, you didn't spill the jello, but you have it all over your hand. Yeah, nice try. Oh yeah, things are getting a little squirrely. Open houses this week.

Speaker 2:

Yes, back to school.

Speaker 1:

How did Charlie's cheer pictures?

Speaker 2:

go. Oh, so cute. They went tallest to shortest, so we are the last.

Speaker 1:

She was the very, very last.

Speaker 2:

Her and little Bristol, oh and little.

Speaker 1:

Bristol too? Who is here today? I have a farm day. It's her first day out on the farm, right, or was she here?

Speaker 2:

once before. She was here once before, yeah, last summer, though.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, First time, like first, well, way to fit it in yes, right, aw, yes, all those sweet babies. How did?

Speaker 2:

your open houses go.

Speaker 1:

So good. A teacher that I recognized from when I went to Slinger Middle School was there, Gosh, and she's like oh, you're, she's like you're a mom. I remember she was a talkative one and I was like, well, Nevi is my mini so Prepared. But she was all smiles and I think we gave each other a couple hugs. Aww, so Friends. That was sweet. A couple hugs Aww so friends.

Speaker 1:

That was sweet and one of the teachers, the science teacher, was open to letting some of the monarchs come over and so the kids can experience that hatching. Because we have how many? Like eight, maybe nine. Now I think they have like 25. More crystalous. I should say yeah, but even more crystalous. It's a cop, yeah, so butterfly releasing like crazy. I don't know how long it takes, though.

Speaker 2:

I read between five and 20 days or something like that, like there's a window and we're going on like a week with that first one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Because it was right before you guys left and it's there. You can like kind of see the wings. See the wings through the little gold speckles.

Speaker 1:

Whoa the gold speckles, trip me out, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I've never seen that. How old are we? We've never seen this before. I've seen the gold speckles.

Speaker 1:

I've seen it, I've seen it before, I've never seen it, but I mean I'm still in awe and wonder of the beautiful work.

Speaker 2:

The best is when the butt falls off. We're all like ooh, Because at first it looked like the head.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it did. It totally looked like the head, like wait, a minute Must be the butt, just a little extra, just plop it right off. We don't need that. I just love the symbolism in the butterfly and the metamorphosis and you know, the unknown and trusting the process and just all the sweet juicy little lessons in there that are just woven in that golden Orion's belt that's on there.

Speaker 1:

Rather like the stars, right, yeah, like a little, and I bet, you know, I bet, similar to our fingerprint, you know, I bet no one is the same, which is also wild to think. Yeah, does God know what he's doing or what he is? So, so good. Wow, I feel like no, nothing left undone, no accidents, no accidents, and for children to be witness to that and actually bring us to it. Well, it was really Auntie Rachel that is the butterfly, dragonfly, princess, yes, and who got the gift, planted the seed, and the kids have had so much fun right this summer.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's been a mission Just finding the caterpillars getting more milkweed. All the turds, they poop a lot, so cleaning the cage right right yeah, it's a full-time job. It really is.

Speaker 1:

They've been doing so good and we get to witness all the magic. Thank you, sweet angel, butterfly, dragonfly, winged fairy, princess, aka my sister-in-law, rachel pretty rachie.

Speaker 2:

she's got so many beautiful nicknames, she truly does Well.

Speaker 1:

She's so so loved because she loves so generously, I feel like. So I'm going to drink to that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, love you.

Speaker 1:

Rachel, so, so good. It's been magical. Well, anyways, how cool would that be experienced with the classroom.

Speaker 2:

Did we go off Wow?

Speaker 1:

Hi guys, welcome. Oh, that would be good. So open house nailed in all the practices. I feel like I've got to get up on the schedule.

Speaker 2:

And everyone on the same schedule.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but we have a couple more days, so let's be here now. Wow, the sun is shining and life is good it really is Labor of love coming up here.

Speaker 1:

On Labor Day, monday. We're not working on Monday, no way, we're just going to let the nature do her work. She never gets a day off. No, what's up with that? It's true, hey. Maybe on Sundays it's a day off. No, what's up with that. It's true, hey, huh, maybe on Sundays it's a little more laid back. I don't know, is it like something with the tilts?

Speaker 2:

or the— Do they have?

Speaker 1:

a Sabbath? Yeah, when's the—when's Mother Gaia's Sabbath? Yeah, you know what? I bet there's a spiritual reason to that too. That's probably a mystery we could unravel. You know what I mean, like a resting time of part of their photos.

Speaker 2:

Maybe that's when the sun goes down, winter Hibernation, and in the evening, okay, yeah.

Speaker 1:

That's your nocturnal. You know it's a little backwards, but hey, it takes all types. You know it, don't you know it? Yeah, but all the lives are important, and that's why I feel like saving now is monarch butterflies, because what did Pretty Rachie say? That one in ten survives, what? Yes, for the eggs that were laid, only one in ten eggs survived because of natural reasons, and so we're actually doing our part to help our sweet pollinators.

Speaker 2:

Yes, Not to mention planting all that milkweed so they can eat Right Well, I think it grows so abundant here.

Speaker 1:

Like, how blessed are we to participate in that Mexican migration? Yes, isn't it crazy that they all fly, migrate down delicate, beautiful butterflies down to Mexico. That's wild To live for the week, dad, like they're on the stuff man, they got to do it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they got to take a page out of their book. Yeah, they're like and our work is done. It's a little too cold. We are out.

Speaker 1:

So I feel like that's why you know Wisconsin we really have to be up on our cannabinoids and supplement our system because we're not getting all those sweet vitamin yummy earth mother, gaia, goodness, you know putting our feet in the grass, right? You know that electronics change, yes, so it all starts to make sense.

Speaker 2:

Hey, Kind of makes me want to go outside right now and soak it all in, I know, I know.

Speaker 1:

That's why we've got to figure out how to take this show on the road.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, pizza on the ground. Pizza on the ground Right or even outside.

Speaker 1:

That's what the Monday sound bowls. I love that we started to do that, because it does get us outside, yeah Right.

Speaker 2:

What are we going to?

Speaker 1:

do in the winter. I know right, that's like the on location. We just bring it. Bring it with us To Mexico, I would do. They're easier to fly with. They're easy to fly with. Remember we took them to New York. Our crystal sound bowl set Plus Danny's soul, yeah, as he like carried them on over his shoulder like this, like it was a boombox. Yeah, what's that main street in New York Times Square, with the sound balls? And he said it was very easy to travel with you. They give you a crate so they don't get damaged and they load them right up there and out the door Out they go.

Speaker 2:

That was easier than the unit, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:

The unit, the unit, oh my gosh the unit that was her mastermind project For real and it worked and it worked. Should we explain what the unit is? Yeah, I was like, oh shit, they're all like, uh, yeah, wait a minute.

Speaker 2:

The unit.

Speaker 1:

Oh Well, you see, we participated in the New York City CBD Expo and we had a booth there and our main sale that we sought out to sell to other distributors right, it wasn't B to C, business to consumers, business to business. So we thought we would sell a unit which was a plastic, three-tiered, three-shelf space Like the Piggly.

Speaker 2:

Wiggly.

Speaker 1:

If you go to the Piggly Wiggly that we use at the Piggly Wigglies and Sippy Hippy and it was like a set price, a set wholesale price that you could have this unit. We had the profit margins and what they set up.

Speaker 2:

Straight from the farmer?

Speaker 1:

yeah, yeah, straight from the farmer and there we had it. And we also had all the products laid out in a beautiful display throughout the table leading up to the unit that we packed in a suitcase everly so carefully and gingerly because we did not want it to crack. We can't roll up here with a busted unit. We got to protect our detectives. Double up on the wrap.

Speaker 2:

I'm very sure there were scarves in there and all the precautions.

Speaker 1:

And it made it. It made it All the the way there, us country girls in new york city and boy did we have a blast. Wow, that was insane. We did it, we tore it. But I'll just remember, like we're like, they're like talking to people and just like having a great time spreading our, our good vibrations, and we looked down and we got robbed hardcore. Like we're like, what they're like, pack it up, put it all away.

Speaker 2:

Like seriously things were just yeah, we were like oh my gosh, we're.

Speaker 1:

Like we are not in Washington County anymore, like, oh my gosh, we yeah. I feel like a substantial amount of product too, and you know, our products are more expensive, like we're not selling two dollar we were giving away samples, so maybe that was a little blurred. No, but no, people are taking like, but I guess that doesn't, you know, maybe because at tavern league party they also thought those were samples to just help themselves. But alcohol was involved. So we'll give them some grace Lessons in the lessons.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, lessons in the challenges of the job. We sterilized it down real quick. We learned the street smart. We were like, oh snap, so we did, and we adapted, adjusted, didn't sell any units. No, that's okay though Almost started a rally against the whole. We were picketing almost yeah, we were picketing the organization because I feel like it was fraud. They had false premises and, you know, sold a big dream. But I am so happy we did it because I will never take back that Times Square sunroof Gosh Riding edition. That was insane Love it.

Speaker 2:

We'll have to find those videos of you sitting on top of the car, head out the sunroof.

Speaker 1:

Sitting, Literally her legs were dangling.

Speaker 2:

The driver and the passenger were holding onto a leg, so she didn't fly just hooting and hollering with her pants on.

Speaker 1:

Yes, blowing kisses, waving, shouting out god only knows what. Even we passed police officers and they were just like I just remember being in the backseat with Danny.

Speaker 2:

We looked at each other like, just go, do what you want to do, like we could not do anything else. I enjoyed a little kick line down there.

Speaker 1:

Oh, we had so much fun. Yeah, and the statue where we were climbing on the bank and we almost were like yeah.

Speaker 2:

That's out of reserve. Yeah, they did not take lightly to that.

Speaker 1:

Thinking that we were real life gypsy witches. I remember the one girl she said we brought all those flowers bouquets in the bar and we were making flower crowns and handing them out to people and the one girl came up to me and she was like are you a witch?

Speaker 2:

And I was like, yeah, well, that was right after we almost stepped on a rat On the outside right. Yeah, not in the bar.

Speaker 1:

Not that we saw, at least. No, yeah, that was on the street, but still like street rat.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we're like woo culture, culture. Well, the garbage? There's no like garbage cans, they just put it on the streets. No wonder there is.

Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm, that all certain makes sense too. An epic crab dinner, the crab food fight that we had. We had this fancy crab dinner.

Speaker 2:

That's how you say we, we was not throwing the crab legs, you was throwing the crab legs. I think I got a burger or something.

Speaker 1:

That was amazing oh my God and the after party Remember.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and our friends. We got a personal tour of the city from our. Where is he? Our e-bike friend, joey?

Speaker 1:

Which one, joey? We made a couple, we made a lot of new friends.

Speaker 2:

We met that Seamoss guy. Oh yeah, we had a lot of fun.

Speaker 1:

That was crazy too, with the presentation. That was like one of my first public speaking engagements was the sound bowl presentation and talking about the plants and like kind of tying it all together like woven, like the DNA of you know how it all, how cannabis should be vibrating at a freedom level. Oh, so good. Yeah, new Yorkork city, the big apple we took it on. Oh yeah, we took a bite out of that apple with the unit. The unit lindsey was with us. I love her so much. We need to have her on here.

Speaker 1:

We were talking about the lunar cycles and all of her delicious tea blends that she makes. Yes, lindsay, we're calling you in sister. Remember she was talking about the enemas too. Well, I mean, she's a proponent for those and feels strongly I don't know if it's something she'd want to share with the world A how-to video of him. Yeah, there's a lot to be learned there. You know, I feel like it's kind of something that nobody really wants to talk about, but should be talked about, especially if you have issues with your bowel movements, right, I feel like if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but if you know you need some natural remedies, there's options out there for you.

Speaker 2:

So that's cool, you'd be surprised what's in there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the video that she sent us with the leaky pipes. He's like imagine this pipe that had 30 years of corrosion. That's what your bowels look like. Oh yeah, it makes sense, though it does. It really does start to make sense Unless you do that clean eating and you're really taking care of yourself and you do some cleanses.

Speaker 2:

Right, right, right, I'm new so, nope, I got some clean and do it Sure, yes, yeah, cleanses.

Speaker 1:

Indeed Lindsay. Where were you?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, lindsay Boo Boo. Pretty sure we gave her a panic attack on that trip, oh my gosh. But she loved it on that trip, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:

But she loved it. She pulled through. She would come again in a heartbeat Right, would she? I don't know, you probably get this. She's more like the true down. Mom, I'm over here like yeah. She's like no, it's a no, it's a hard pass for me. Just kidding, we had so many laughs. I cannot, I cannot. She's the perfect one to come with us. She really was. She really. Even I couldn't have seen it or done it any other way. It was exactly how it was supposed to be.

Speaker 2:

How did we get to talking about? This I don't know the unit I talked about the unit.

Speaker 1:

Well, but before the unit, I don't know it was important it was and I hope we came full circle on that somehow Another juicy nugget yeah it was a juicy little experience there and super authentic oh the sound bowls.

Speaker 2:

Danny, carrying the sound bowls around.

Speaker 1:

New.

Speaker 2:

York. Yes, that's right.

Speaker 1:

Connecting in the sunshine and our feet in the ground, playing the sound bowls for Montreux Mondays. Carrying the sound bowls. God bless Danny's heart too for putting up with all of our wild sisterhood. He truly embraces the lover, believer wild. He has no other choice, but I feel like we live the best life together. I miss him. He's been working hard this summer. Man just out there grinding, he's out the door before I'm even cracking open my ass and he has such stamina. Just keep going and going and going yes that man just does not quit.

Speaker 1:

I feel like he's got a good balance, though he does do the golf on Wednesdays, but that's really his only social time without the kids. But that's a long season too, so I'm glad he the kids. So that's a long season too, so I'm glad he has that time. It's important to ground down, yeah, but man, he just gets work done. I don't even know the jobs or what he's all been on, but sometimes I ask him and I'm like, oh yeah, it sounds great.

Speaker 2:

And then I'm like well, can you help me with this big pile of dirt that I need?

Speaker 1:

And he makes dinner or something Like, not, I mean yeah, and he cooks, Cleans the bathroom too. Power couple for sure. Yes, Sorry, I must miss him. Yes, you do. I feel like I do.

Speaker 2:

You just went on your epic vacation. Oh my God, that's why I feel like I do.

Speaker 1:

You just went on your epic vacation. Oh my God. That's why I feel like I really miss the kids too. As soon as the vacation was over, I'm just like come back to my bosom, yes, come back to me. Babies, oh yes, that epic vacation. It was an epic vacation, and I had to thank them multiple times, because, you know, my style is like no reservations, no reservations, yes, ip, anthony Bourdain. And so you have to like trust, right, yeah, and I was like you guys. Thank you so much for having faith in me and each other and trusting the process, because otherwise I don't feel like you can unlock and unravel those mysteries as wonderfully as we did, and, you know, just letting it happen.

Speaker 2:

What an adventure. Like seriously no nothing right, just go.

Speaker 1:

And a lot of times, like the cell service shoddy you know, I feel like you just kind of trust that it'll all work out.

Speaker 2:

Simpler times, like how do we do it? Before we had phones and computers basically in our pocket.

Speaker 1:

I think then I would have done maybe a little more. I don't know, but I feel so lucky too to be so connected via the phone, because it's like okay, you know. Via the phone, because it's like okay, you know. But I do feel like every local or every person that we spoke to gave us like an insight. So I very I feel like the secret to the success is, you know very much, lean into every interaction, Make friends right Is therefore is divine. Yes, and you have to download those insights and like really come at it like with no expectations, but being like with an open mentality of like what do I need to download with this person, Like why did I meet this person? Why am I in contact with you? Yes, and so just like vibing on that level of being like hey, hey, hey, yes, yeah, Before you know it, we're kayaking in the sea caves. Our tour guide's name was Elsa and we were like let's go, let's go Kayaking in the caves.

Speaker 2:

And it was cool.

Speaker 1:

It was kind of like intimidating because you had to like duck under these caves. You know, kind of like in Greece, when you're talking about like the sea stairs and how they make like that beautiful sound, I'm sure I don't think that this could. It reminded me of that, of like the noises that it was making, and I just I loved sitting in the kayak and listening to the crashing and I was always kind of like lagging behind because I was just back there like listening to the sound crash, soaking it all in.

Speaker 1:

But I was with Nevaeh and she was towards like halfway through. She's like enough, like that is it. And I'm like it's two hours of kayaking, like it's not an eight-hour adventure, we're not going. You know what I mean? I'm like come on. But I had to Compromise, compromise, compromise, and I did. I had to pull it in because I would have went around into the unknown and I would have kept going, but I did Danny's like Ashley, like I feel like he's so good at like reeling me in sometimes, and also guys.

Speaker 1:

I was in another trouble because, I mean, down the road to my inside, checking out from the campground, I went and talked to Wanda and she told me that you could, there was cliff jumping and we heard that from someone else. I asked her about the cliff jumping. She goes, yeah, if you just walk right down this way about you know, a mile or so down you'll see the cliffs and that's where people jump and you know. In some other words, that's what I heard at least, and that's where people jump. In some other words, that's what I heard at least. Six miles later and we had to walk back. I think it was 10 miles total, five miles in, five miles out, but it was a pristine, a wooded boardwalk through a preserve, whoa the nature, and we went in the morning.

Speaker 2:

The whole way.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, pretty much. Wow, yes, yes, and you could have dipped out and did the beach too, and we kind of did that to break it up, yeah. But yeah, it was amazing and there were some times where the kids I thought they had turned around, I wasn't quite sure, and I was trudging on Like we were going to keep going, you know, and the kids were like, ah, and Danny was even like my shoes and I was like, oh my gosh, Chip chip. Yeah, I was like chip chip y'all, but I had some moments of like, peace and stillness in that too, and it was just so magical. All the pollinators and the sounds and I feel like there was like this misting fog that was swirling around through there and the crashing of the waves. It feels like you're on the ocean up there, because indeed you're on the island.

Speaker 2:

Wait, you didn't say where you went.

Speaker 1:

This was on Madeline Island. Okay, is that in Alaska? And that's where I truly yes, wisconsin touching Lake Superior, oh, up top the.

Speaker 1:

Apostle Islands and we stayed on one of the Apostle Islands, which I also thought was strange too. The apostle, in a spiritual sense, and having faith and trusting the process. And you know, apostles, I feel like I have to do a little bit more research, but what their goal is is to spread the message and spread the good word. And what their goal is is to spread the message and spread the good word. And so there I was having these spiritual moments and kind of just yeah, reflecting on how it all starts to make sense. It's all connected. So I'm glad we had that moment and we finished it off.

Speaker 1:

They had these rocks that you could wade out in the water. There was these big, giant rocks that were in the water and I found like a flatter one and I literally had a mermaid moment. I just laid on it and it was nice and warm. The sun was shining, you know, just bright, sunny day, with the little clouds in the sky, and I just laid on there and soaked up all that rocks, warmth and the sun, and the kids laughter in the background and Danny sat with me and that was just really special and it took me away. It took me to another place of serenity and just peacefulness and I just really filled my cup. It was nice.

Speaker 2:

Just to that. And then the kids were like all right, it's time, mom, let's go back.

Speaker 1:

And I was like, all right, all right, all right If we must like.

Speaker 2:

Alright, I'm so happy that you got to experience that. I just picture you as like Ariel sitting on that rock with your long hair.

Speaker 1:

It's exactly how I felt and I was like I need to do this, like more you know, like why I love the exploration and Wisconsin. I feel like you just get. It's so beautiful right here. It's just the forest and the sandhill dunes, and I feel like there's all so many different climates just like right here, or like ecosystems just right here. Yeah, it's kind of crazy. Yes, well, we're headed to House on the Rock soon. I'm excited. Let's make that happen.

Speaker 2:

After we talked about that, I talked to like three other people that just went or were going. I was like whoa, okay, this is a thing.

Speaker 1:

Ah, see, I was calling you. It was, but instead you forgoed the House on the Rock adventure and went to the 2025 Hemp Field Day put on by the UW-Madison Extension. Yes, I'm so proud of you for going, because that takes commitment. It was in Arlington, right?

Speaker 2:

Yes, which is how far away About an hour and a half, maybe Hour and a half or so Not too far, but yeah, it was really cool. Phillip, alberti and Shelby I don't know her last name, but from the Ellison Lab they were running it. We got to see the outdoor CBD fields, we got to see the fiber. We got to talk with people who are students that are actively learning and researching all the cannabinoids and phenotypes and just all the nerding out on the plant medicine. But it was really cool.

Speaker 2:

I think my favorite part was finding the feral hemp that they found. So they went around and got feral hemp from like California, not just Wisconsin, but like all over, and they had a couple rows of that and they were going to try to like see what genetics work best here and kind of get crazy with the cheese whiz. So it was really fun to see all that With like-minded people. I recognize some people, so that was neat and catch up with them. A tad bit frustrating though, I have to admit. It's like the same questions are being asked and still no answers seven years later in this game. So but they did have like homemade I don't know what you call it like a chopper thing when they were going for, like the fiber in the grain or in the fiber plants, the real long stalks they'd like chalk them and get the herd out of the mast.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't know if the reference might know, I was taking all kinds of notes.

Speaker 1:

It's like a threshing and wintering.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and then they had the next step.

Speaker 2:

And then they were like they did it like probably back how they used to do it in the back of the day, and the next part was the nails. And then they'd take it and whip it and string it out, and then the next part would be to wind it up and make rope. And I was like, wow, that is so cool. So I just wish part of the UW system, the engineers, would talk to the other people, you know, and like, let's make some machines to do this, because at this point in the— Some implements, yeah, like, let's get some infrastructure, let's really let the hump shine in all of its glorious possibilities, you know, agriculturally, economically, environmentally, medicinally, recreationally, all the allies, all the allies, all the alise. We need to let them fly. But I did get to speak with some sweet representatives, so I'm hoping to chat with them a little more and educate them, because they really had no idea about really anything about it. So hopefully we can make that make sense for them, which brings me to your round table, ah.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Sweet Bubbles is participating in the. What is it called?

Speaker 1:

It was a long Well, okay, yes, well, hold on, I'm a farmer, yes, okay, Tonight actually is the inaugural meeting of the US Hemp Roundtable and you had to apply and I just submitted a brief thing of the experience and why I think I should be a part of the roundtable. And bada-bing, bada-boom, she's in Yoo-hoo and it's a farmer advisory council.

Speaker 2:

So farmers get to get input on who and what and where and how and why. Yes, yay.

Speaker 1:

Yes, so it's like being an advocate at its finest, but you know the ones that are getting their hands dirty and putting in the work.

Speaker 1:

Yes, from the farmer's perspective, which I feel like really needs to be heard and part of the conversation and discussion as we talk about the future of hemp in Wisconsin, so we can connect all the dots, because I feel like what better way to do that than as a nation? So I feel like I love that, as the United States Hemp Council and they're taking it to the Capitol, you know Washington DC and connecting you with congressmen and people that have a voice in legislature that can make a reasonable and positive, impactful change in the cannabis realm. So I'm so excited to not only be, you know, representing all of our fellow Gaias out there. You know females as minorities in the industry, but also as a farmer. I feel like it's just a really unique perspective and I just feel really excited to get out there and, you know, at least participate and be part of the conversation. If nothing else, I love that they're saying you know that's the point is to share experiences, elevate the farmer's voice and help guide advocacy efforts in Washington DC.

Speaker 2:

Yes, Amen, oh yes.

Speaker 1:

They actually just announced this. Yes, they actually just announced this. And then, on September 3rd, if you can fly into Washington DC and schedule meetings with your congressman, I'm like what. The kids are going back to school on the 2nd. I don't know how we're going to make this fly with the farm. Yeah, what farmer? Then I'm like, okay, who are these farmers that I want to get on their level?

Speaker 1:

Yes, let me just peace out during peak season and go take it to the house. No better time than the present. Honestly, if it was next week, I would have probably done it. Or, like you know what I mean, yeah, right after Labor Day. Yeah, I probably would have jumped on the train because I looked at flights. Oh, sorry, I looked at flights from Milwaukee to DC.

Speaker 1:

It was about $450. $450. Okay, and I did see some that were like $250. I was like I feel like what I mean? For a night, why not you only live once, yeah. So I'm sure there'll be other opportunities. So, sunshine, stay tuned. We're going to DC baby.

Speaker 2:

I've never been. I'm excited. Ironically, it's kind of a free range there, isn't it in DC for cannabis, Our nation's capital? You can do whatever, but here we are.

Speaker 1:

We got some work to do girlfriend.

Speaker 1:

We are putting in the good work, though, and, speaking of, you know, putting in the good work, it doesn't feel like we're working because we're doing what we love every day, here out on the farm and with our families, and we are so, so blessed. So I feel like, one day at a time, we are making the change, we're being the change, and especially with this podcast. Yes, we're really spreading the voices and trying to unify with petitions and other blogs and good, wonderful information. I feel like just more more on top of it than more on top of than any other time, like we did not come this far, to only come this far, and good news is you have experience to back it up right.

Speaker 1:

I was thinking about all the experiences, honestly, that we have gained throughout the seven years of us farming hemp together and it's really just something truly magical that I could have. You know, like talking about your wildest dreams, like Hello, yeah, yeah, being part of the board of the Wisconsin Safety Alliance group. That really couldn't quite get it together for a unified voice to make a collaborative effort to make substantial change here in Wisconsin. Watch back on it on the next podcast of what percolates from this meeting. Because, yeah, it makes me a little nervous, though, of just kind of being like oh, don't you.

Speaker 2:

I'll just have a gummy before I go.

Speaker 1:

Just let it rip tater chip. Right, I'll be in the background. Yeah, I love it. Yeah, I love it. It's all good things.

Speaker 2:

I'm ready to talk about solutions instead of problems. Be part of the problem. You're gonna be a part of the solution, right?

Speaker 1:

and quit going across the border. Yeah, gosh, darn it, support your local hemp farmer. Oh, dna hemp llccom. Check out our offerings. We got going on. Speaker 2:

We're actually going to do Labor Day giveaway. I don't know where it went. Yes, we are. It's this shirt we are oh there it is.

Speaker 1:

Got you girl. Yes, we're giving this baby away, ooh Hi.

Speaker 2:

Or is it a?

Speaker 1:

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

I guess we could do a male or a female shirt.

Speaker 2:

God bless you. We're doing that for a t-shirt. God bless you.

Speaker 1:

And dealer's choice product right and some other high-vibing, super awesome goodness in there. Yes, in the package as well. So like a little care package featuring our woo wear. Woo, woo, woo. Yes, we call it woo wear. Why, we don't know, because it's fun, but I love all of our woo wear. We have done tie dye t-shirts. Speaker 1:

It's the little creation station happening. And how about the super cool sweatshirts with the tie-down, like the built-in neck protector, with the website down, like the scarf the built in neck protector with the website down the arm? That thing's sharp, I like it.

Speaker 2:

Mm, hmm, like it fits you. It's not like just a big old, a Carhartt shirt. We've done DNA Carhartt shirts, which are amazing too. Yeah, that's more like layers in the cold winter months.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and we have to go down to the hoop house in the 10-foot snow.

Speaker 2:

Just get out of there Feed the bees yeah.

Speaker 1:

Goodness, but a lot of cool woo-wear and we sell it in person or online, so it's kind of like exclusive and it's always kind of like cycling through and changing of what we have as a matter of fact, our box just took a dump. It got ripped, yeah. So, we changed it now into a sweet little basket to display. I it got ripped, yeah. So we changed it now into a sweet little basket to display. I really like it. It turned out nice. It is cute.

Speaker 2:

Because then we can just like carry it along the way and keep it together.

Speaker 1:

keep it all together for this traveling circus. Show Our gypsy soul, Our gypsy soul.

Speaker 2:

Yes, our gypsy circus show. So sign up for the High Vibe Tribe. We need your email. That's how we're going to let you know when you win the Woolware.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 2:

We come up with some humdingers along the way. Yes, we do, right it's all good vibes.

Speaker 1:

I feel like social media can get lost sometimes, so we love to craft those emails and reach your inbox and hope for a good old opening in a couple minutes of your time so you can save some money and win some things. Yes, yes, yes, that sounds just about right right there, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, the in-person extravaganza, because if you do win from the email, we can get tainted. We get a lot of them from the markets.

Speaker 2:

You can come pick it up at one of the markets.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and we'll make it happen one way or another. Yes, the farm has been super exciting here. I love this time of year Because it still is like the summer in the air, but fall it's like the fall crisp, but the summer sun, right? Yes, if that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you get the cooler mornings, the cold dew, and then you just get the warmth from the sun in the midday and then, yeah, yeah, all the mosquitoes. They're crazy this year because of that rain.

Speaker 1:

We needed it, but yeah it was like the perfect storm of Skeeter. Yeah, and you who like refuses bug spray. You have mosquitoes because we ran out of our natural bug spray and so we're misplacing it. We couldn't find it and so we did have some off readily available and I'm sorry, no shame. In my game I was getting ate in the lab. I was like, just, you know, like minimal, yeah, yeah, and I was like, ah, I just got a fire rate higher.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she's like a good girl, which sometimes does work, but I mean, they didn't bother me after a while. Yeah, I don't know how that works. It's like ah, we got her good enough.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, we got all the good distractions, she vibed higher. Yes, that is wild, but I loved your tutorial about the harvest, the herbs. So the herbs are like super bountiful right now and I love that you call it giving them a haircut.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you trim your booshes.

Speaker 1:

And I feel like as much as we've done it with hemp, like working with so many different herbs, like this week we harvested lemon, balm, oregano, sage, basil and nasturtium calendula tomatoes. What else?

Speaker 2:

Zucchini, yes. Cucumbers, peppers, spilanthes.

Speaker 1:

Milk, thistle, ah. So there's quite a bit, but all time it kind of takes a little different um, ginger touch or like a technique, but you make it look so easy and you look so at peace when you're doing it I just love it like I feel like your confidence is there, like you can tell that you know your relationship.

Speaker 1:

The waters run deep and you know just, you have that like piece of eye that I just love. It's where I'm like I last year I was in such a hurry snipping through I like snipped my pinky because I like grabbed the top and then just kind of like got myself like that and it like it was a pretty deep gosh, yeah, and it was just nature's reminder to slow my roll.

Speaker 2:

More grace, less haste.

Speaker 1:

That's it. You're like Ashley you need your digits, but I don't feel like you will never. You don't need that reminder.

Speaker 2:

I feel like you are that reminder, just lots of practice. I don't claim to know anything more or less than anybody else, just years and years of trimming the bushes. More or less than anybody else, just years and years of trimming the bushes. The only rule that I really follow is do not take more than a third of the plant. If you do, you could kill it. So just you know.

Speaker 2:

If your plant's this big, just take as much off of it and just give it a nice haircut. All the energy is going to be at the tips. That's where the sun comes and photosynthesis. You want to catch them right before they flower. If you're going just for the leaves, obviously. If you're going for the flowers, let them flower. But yeah, just right on the tops. Give them a little haircut and that gives the underneath time to shine and breathe and get some circulation and airflow in there. Otherwise it could get wonky or bugs or mold. But yeah, fungus, yeah, yeah, and do it by the moon cycles if you wish. Sometimes it gets a little crazy and you just do it whenever you can. But yeah, it's beautiful. I feel like all of them are a little different. Like the basil, you were really dingently like going down to the next node. You know you don't want to, but if you have a big group sometimes just take a handful and right on top, especially if you're going to scale.

Speaker 2:

I feel like you get a lot of herbs.

Speaker 1:

It can't be like each one as much as we'd love. If we had one plant, it would be a little more.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, use your bonsai techniques. Yeah, we're like in the bag and it loves it. And once you top them, then all the energy will go back down to the roots and then it'll just grow bigger and taller and stronger for the next round.

Speaker 1:

And it's topping so, like each time you clip it, like two other nodes are going to come from it, which is pretty wild to think too.

Speaker 1:

And that's what pretty much all the plants and we learn that most through the hemp, through the cannabis right of topping your plants, because then you get a bushier plants, more colas and also, too, like how all most of the constituents are in the the tip. You know we call that the cola. Yeah, with hemp, and that's where, like the densest uh, the densest flower is the true sticky icky is called the cola. So I feel like that's where, like the densest, the densest flower is the true sticky icky is called the cola. So I feel like that's just a real interesting relationship that the plants share is where that energy lives in flowering plants.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, absolutely. I don't want to say a takeaway, I've heard of it, I'm familiar, but that the cannabinoids, like the medicine in the cannabis, is actually the plant's natural like pest deterrent, so like it's probably it's trying to protect the plant itself, so when we ingest it it's trying to protect us too. But that's where the juicy nugget is in, that it's just trying to survive the plant, plant survival and that's where that medicine comes from. So I think that blew the representative's mind.

Speaker 1:

So I was like yes, so yeah, because I mean wow, and I feel like our herb, our plant ally that we would like to bring to light today is the beautiful milk thistle, which is really abundant right now here in Wisconsin but fading quick. I feel like it's turning into wishes and seeds really really fast as it spreads like crazy. But the connection of energetics with this name and what it does to the body blows my mind. That's kind of what it looks to. The body blows my mind. That's kind of what it looks like. It's like a little explosion right there and I feel like this is prickly it is.

Speaker 1:

Do you want to? Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 2:

Silly bum. Maria num, that is a Latin name, which is crazy.

Speaker 1:

Silly bum. Yeah, it sounds silly, but that's what you would call psilocybin in mushrooms and strangely enough, this will help against amanita poisoning, which is the trippy mushroom.

Speaker 2:

So the red one with the white right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, typical mushroom. When you think of a mushroom, yeah, red with the white and yeah, yeah, typical mushroom.

Speaker 1:

When you think of a mushroom, yeah, red with the white. And so that's like whoa, like this is like nature's way of being. Like red, stop, don't eat me unless you want to be tripping, Just kidding. Yeah, stop, collaborate and listen.

Speaker 1:

And that's cool because it has the white dots, because it's kind of like the crown chakra, so I feel like from your white to your root, your red, like it'll connect all the chakras and that's kind of what psilocybin does is kind of gets all that energy flowing to rewire your neural pathways, your neurological system, that's nerves are located all throughout your body and so, I don't know, I just feel like whoa from the root of the psilomarin, which is in the name, the psilocybin marianum. That is the compound that is responsible for the antioxidant properties of the plant. So it's crazy that if you know that compound that's found in other ones, or if you know the Latin name, that message is already in which compound it relates to, as it opens up the understanding for what it can do for your body. Yes, so like, the more you know, the more you know you can trust the cues that the plant is telling you, the energetics.

Speaker 2:

It's beautiful.

Speaker 1:

Also crazy that it's called milk thistle and it helps with milk production for ladies. Yes, so if you drink this baby and it also is cool because this and it helps with milk production for ladies yes, so to drink this baby, and it also is cool because this looks like an ovary right, Like there's eggs in there, oh I like that. So to tell like from here, like oh, it looks like an ovule right, like it looks like the mother, so you would think of the mother, the motherhood.

Speaker 1:

Ain't no hood like motherhood Bers, thorns, thorns, yeah, thorns, right, thistles yeah.

Speaker 2:

Then it helps protect your body. It's really good for your liver and your gallbladder.

Speaker 1:

I thought it said All your detoxifying units, organs.

Speaker 2:

Protect, regenerate. What was it? Detoxify, purify, renew.

Speaker 1:

Renewal. And then you think of birthing like mothers giving birth in that, like renewal or like giving life. It's just kind of like whoa. It's kind of crazy about the energetics of the syllabum merinium.

Speaker 2:

And I'm sure you're familiar. Like this is the point we were talking earlier Like I remember being a kid running through the grass, just you know, minding your own business, playing tag, whatever, and then all of a sudden you step on this prick and it's like ah. And then it would itch and like yeah, that's what this is. Who knew it was medicine? It reminds me a lot of dandelion too, with the milk in the stem in the plant and it kind of looks like dandelion.

Speaker 1:

But way more aggressive.

Speaker 2:

And it helps with the liver?

Speaker 1:

Oh well, because it's with the same family, part of the astrakashi family. Ah well, there you go, and that is kind of the same thing with all of these. What the dandelion looks like? Mm-hmm, Mm-hmm, it's yellow. With all their petals and stigmas and stas.

Speaker 2:

So the flower, the stems and the leaves are edible. I mean, you can make tea out of them. You can— Tincture, Tincture, yeah.

Speaker 1:

With alcohol is the best way to extract the silymarin.

Speaker 2:

High amounts of alcohol, Like 100-proof alcohol.

Speaker 1:

High for clear. Yeah, yeah, it requires a lot of alcohol to extract that Because it's got such a protective layer. Lot of alcohol to extract that Because it's got such a protective layer, so you need to penetrate that protective layer, and that's what we're drinking today.

Speaker 2:

It actually does taste like it smells of what you would think it would, but not bad. You can always add honey or lemon to spice it up, but I like it the way it is.

Speaker 1:

I do too. Yeah, it's a little bitter, but I mean, if you get your dosing rate of like how many buds to cup, I feel like you could really make a delicious tea. That is an easy way to get this plant medicine into your life.

Speaker 2:

Bone, brain, skin.

Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm Protection and resilience, purity and renewal.

Speaker 1:

The white in the leaves is thought to be like the purity of the plant and kind of related to the Virgin Mary and Christianity and you know all of God's beautiful work here and the doctrine of signatures and the energetics and what he's trying to tell us, which is amazing. I looked up what chakras it helps with and that was the sacral, which makes sense because that's where all your lady parts or your reproductive organs are, and your solar plexus, so kind of like your I am, which is kind of like your I am, center, that's your essence, right. Your soul, yeah, which I mean really kind of it's like life-giving, right, and that symbolizes, you know, passion, passion in which you store right down, that's your passion and your sacral. And the solar plexus, your unwavering devotion to yourself and like I am strong and I am capable, I am a child of light and I.

Speaker 1:

One more thing I wanted to share about the symbolism of it. It was kind of like a juxtaposition of you know the energy of pain and protection, you know of what, and that's what it's going to help you with internally Pride and humility with it too, because sometimes you put up that protective layer, that armor, but it's really going within to extract the goodness and knowing that it's still good.

Speaker 1:

But despite your pride, there's still a lot of humility to be had. There's still a heart there, right. And then beauty, the juxtaposition between beauty because it is beautiful, it is In her own right, Like don't touch her but she's fun to look at. And she is using flower bouquets because of this symbolism, because of when you come into motherhood or when you get married, as the renewal and renewing your vows. So beauty and roughness and kind of that give and take there too, and it's all just a delicate balance.

Speaker 2:

All about balance. I think you've seen these, everyone's seen these.

Speaker 1:

You never think to use it as plant medicine. But we are telling go for it.

Speaker 2:

It's usually avoided. If it's pricky, you don't touch it right. So yeah, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, great for the liver, blood sugar, cholesterol and hormones.

Speaker 1:

Menopause, ladies menopause milk thistle has been used medicinally for over 2 000 years, most commonly for treatment of liver and gallbladder disorders, popular in Europe and the United States for various types of liver disease. So I feel like you hear a lot of it, especially, you know, with cirrhosis, diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease. You know there's the diet, liver diet, liver damage, cancer, cirrhosis did I say cirrhosis, liver inflammation. So what a wonderful plant ally. I mean goodness, and I just, I just love her because of all that, her symbolism, what she represents. I like that. Thank you for sharing all that, her symbolism and what she represents. I like that. Thank you for sharing all that. I'm excited to work with it a little bit more because, honestly, I've taken it for granted, just like most of the plant medicine. I wanted to share that stage of growth. We talked about it earlier, about how we're really noticing the plant medicine.

Speaker 2:

Yes, driving down the road right. Yes, Like I feel like it's a scavenger hunt, Like, oh, there's some elderberry. That's how I found that elderberry off the side of the road.

Speaker 1:

And the goldenrod and the chicory now, yes, chicory Even the seasonality of it all too. It's so much fun to just divulge and explore. I feel like that's why I love sharing the wildcrafting that we do on our podcast. I feel like next season or another time will be all of the ones that we're cultivating, all the herbs that we're growing, because those have a ton of medicinal benefits too. But I feel like starting here, what is already provided and accessible to the public, to our community, to people who are surrounding us, which most of our love and support is coming from, right here in our backyard and with our families and loved ones. Thank you so much for all of that. Yes, but it's really cool to share with people and blow people's mind. That was another thing from our harvest yesterday of all of that basil and chive lemon balm and oregano.

Speaker 1:

I had a huge bag. So I had a Piggly, wiggly grocery bag full of all of the herbs. It was more basil than any one lady could possibly ever use. I don't care how much you love pesto or basil, tomato and cheese. You know mozzarella, oh, yum the mozzarella. A caprese salad with some balsamic, yum, that fresh basil. Oh, it was so good. It was so generous, so plentiful. I filled up a bag.

Speaker 1:

I walked into Cheryl's and Cheryl's Club 175 in Slinger, wisconsin, who we're live streaming cross-posting here now. Love you, cheryl. Yes, they were having a fall drink menu, cocktail tasting. So Tom Schiffen with Diageo Drinks was showing us all the new cool. You know, some organic spirits and mocktails and we talked about dirty sodas. Anyway, I had this bag of herbs. People smelt it right when I walked in. I think they were like, was that hemp? Because they're so used to me, but it was a full bar. It was Wing Wednesday, so I mean it's popping at the club. Mari's out running around, you know, serving up the world over there with such style and grace. Yes, and you could smell just the herbs and the freshness and people perked up like, ooh, that smell, what is that smell? I dumped it all on the bar.

Speaker 2:

I had them all out there.

Speaker 1:

And I started making little lunch bag bags of the fresh herbs for people to take with them and create what they will. Yes, and everyone took one. I had probably like seven bags is what it ended up with. And the bartenders got some, the kitchen had some I think they were going to make a special with it and the patrons too.

Speaker 1:

And I gave it to like couples too, and before I gave it to them, I'm like you're going to use this right Like to please tell me, like I'm truly honestly and I did have a couple people that declined it because they're like, honestly, I won't use it- and that's okay.

Speaker 2:

Thank you for your honesty.

Speaker 1:

Yes, right yes, I'm looking for good homes for them. That's like my intention. Yeah, you know, and I hate to see it go to waste others. I would have used it. Yeah, I mean like, so it was so cool to share that with them and just plant those seeds, seeds, fellas they lit up and I heard stories. You know, with it comes that energy exchange and I was able to see people's experience or backgrounds and how they've worked with herbs and what works for them. You know, and people were really thankful Recipe exchange.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, it was really cool to like work with you, know the community and, just like brah I'mh, like in there and then use the spare bouquets that we didn't use at the Thiensville market and found good homes for them and explain the medicinal bouquet. I was like I probably walked out there like what, and then, before you know it, I was done with that. The dogs were coming in and the kids were running around. We were like I got to take this. We stuck this on the road Really shake things up.

Speaker 2:

I love that, really shake things up. I love that Boy.

Speaker 1:

That was fun and a couple plants that we gave away too, and Nixon was the one giving those away. He would go up to the customers and be like, do you want some calendula? And they'd be like what? Yes, yes, I do, yes, I do. How do you say no to that? I? Know, His big brown eyes and I'm behind him like. Are you sure, gosh, that's fun. I think that'll be a good winter activity is engaging the community at Cheryl's Club. I just love it there. It's a subway from home.

Speaker 2:

And all walks of life come there too. So what an audience, right. I'm sure you blew some people's minds.

Speaker 1:

And they blow mine.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that place never ceases to blow my mind as well.

Speaker 1:

For real, it's never a dull moment To blow my mind as well. For real, it's never a dull moment there in the best way possible. I just feel like so many different energies walk through that joint and I just feel like our clientele is why my mom has been in business for going on 26 years here in September. It's because of the people, it's because of serving the community and having those relationships. It's like where would they go without Cheryl's club? It wouldn't be the same.

Speaker 2:

I feel like the mark that she's holding space that my mama, cheryl, continually shows up to do is just how many birthday parties and celebrations of life and 20, 21st birthdays, funerals, weddings, anniversary I mean you name it Carshow.

Speaker 1:

Oh, she just it's always yeah. The place never ceases to amaze me and it's such wow, what an institution she's built there. I mean the legacy and learning. I feel I love having her as a mentor. I just wouldn't want to learn from anywhere else and you know, I just feel like she always keeps it real. Mama Cheryl keeps it real. I think she'll be the first on location place that we go to. We got to go interview Mama Cheryl and then we just back to back with Darlene to Auntie, because she's like the OG earth mom. She took all the morning glories.

Speaker 2:

The clump of morning glories, even though she already has some morning glories.

Speaker 1:

You can never have too many morning glories. I was like blessed, she could not say no Good for her, yay, yay. She was like, well, they didn't. Flowers, I do, I love them flowers. I'm like, oh my God, mandy, you're going to have more morning glories than one ever knows what to do with, because they're so generous with their seeds. Yeah, you know. And once they, although they're an annual, they just do keep receding themselves. And they're so beautiful. They are the way they climb. Do you got a fence line or a pole? You want them to climb up Something you want to hide in the backyard or beautify? Those morning glories are just. They are beautiful, but they got away with us. On us this year we did plant some, but we had more than enough, which are taller than us.

Speaker 1:

And we just planted them. Not too long ago.

Speaker 2:

Really give them something to climb and, yes, sky's the limit. Yes, yes, I'm honored to have learned to bartend at cheryl's from the queen and darlene, and I just feel like they haven't instilled such good morals, and you know just all of it.

Speaker 1:

Ethics. They have a good code of ethics. It's what I respect.

Speaker 2:

Clean, friendly. Yes, I feel very, very happy.

Speaker 1:

You got time to lean, you got time to clean, yes, and if it don't make dollars it don't make sense. And only one napkin per person. You can change them out as they go, but you don't need a clump, it just sells. It takes as one.

Speaker 2:

No coasters either. Those things are filthy.

Speaker 1:

And I love too, when I would train new bartenders and what my aunt was so good at instilling me, it was smiles, Smile, it's contagious. Yes, I remember like really, I'm like we tell new bartenders, I'm like if all else fails, if all else breaks loose, and you are doing that, you know, just smile, Just smile as you're walking. I like and I feel like because of that smile mentality being in service with a smile mentality has affected my entire life in the best way possible, Like now, I'm perfect, I'm smiling.

Speaker 2:

I know I was like. These wrinkles don't just, you know, appear. You really got to earn those.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I would tell Brandon like I'm talking permagrant, like you're just walking back there, my cheeks, like after the shift, my cheeks are like sore. But how awesome is that? And people were like what is your issue? Is smiling like come on. That's unreasonable and you know it becomes a habit, but it's contagious. Don't tell me that if I'll be smiling at you, you ain't gonna crack and give me a smile back.

Speaker 2:

I don't know how people can't smile or like, how do you just stare at each other without like it'd be awkward, right yeah?

Speaker 1:

So that's why, and then you know the next thing. You know the whole place is smiling and connections are happening and exchanges being made and spirits are being lifted and vibrations are high and they're going to go out into that universe and make it a better place. Ah, all from holding space. Thank you, cheryl's Club. Oh, okay, sorry, I think that probably is not bad or good.

Speaker 1:

Banging on the book I was like, ah, oh, such good nuggets that we're downloading Cheryl's Club 175 and the Herbs. More is coming, because I'm telling you we have enough to go around as the good Lord blessed us with this bountiful harvest and as we're unraveling the mystery and uncovering the ways, the native ways, of what was and how we're. It's an unlearning and a knowing, trusting that intuition.

Speaker 2:

Reprogramming, right yeah, unlearn all those things.

Speaker 1:

Unlearn reprogram.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

Speaker 1:

And if you eat too many aminida mushrooms, trying to expedite that process, milk thistle is your plan ally.

Speaker 2:

Less is more.

Speaker 1:

Always.

Speaker 2:

Always, don't take more than you need so good.

Speaker 1:

And speaking of that, with the pesto I went over to a girl's night I was invited to one of my friends, turned her home into an Airbnb and has been really successful starting that business. And I'm more proud, so proud, to cheer her on and see all the renovations and things that the effort that she put into making that world go round. And I brought the pesto and we had to send the recipe. They're like what? Oh my gosh. But we added those nasturtium flowers that you had harvested for me and brought to the farmer's market.

Speaker 2:

She asked for petals, but I gave her the flowers. Didn't read the message very well, you can use the nasturtium leaves too.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the leaves and the flowers and the stems, it's all medicinal.

Speaker 2:

Edible flowers. We just had a request for some edible flowers for some cupcakes for a wedding like whoa to top that.

Speaker 1:

Oh how beautiful. Yeah right, pansies. We need like a little field of those pansies or violets too or and the violets.

Speaker 1:

Violets are seasonal, they're tough. Well, the wild ones, yeah yeah, but the pansies, they kind of stick around. I remember having hanging baskets of them. I bring it to cheryl's and put it on the tacos and in the cocktails and everyone would say have you seen the looks I got there? But I will never stop trying and they were very giving. It was constant. I remember bringing them to the market too and we were like we're going to sell them. We got so much, oh my gosh, and I would eat the flower and people would why?

Speaker 1:

And I'm like oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, baby. Well, believe it or not, all fruits and vegetables come from flowers, right, Mm-hmm? So?

Speaker 1:

it's like microgreen, but Like that summer squash.

Speaker 2:

That was such a little blessing. The blessing.

Speaker 1:

Well, the microgreens too, if we talked about microgreens on here at the Beansville market I got cantaloupe and broccoli. The kids ate all of the broccoli microgreen container. I'm like do you guys realize? You just ate like a thousand broccoli heads. Seriously, in each microgreen, in each tiny microgreen, is the nutrients of the entire fruit. It's wild, it's hard to grasp. I'm still wrapping my head in my head on that.

Speaker 2:

I need more research.

Speaker 1:

But I believe it. I do too. It makes sense. Yeah, it just really does make sense. That's why microgreens are so important.

Speaker 2:

Eat your greens and the cantaloupes really taste like cantaloupe. Yeah, the broccoli tastes like broccoli. The radishes are like tangy like radish. Wow, it's like oh, that's great, put that in your smoothie.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I'm excited to make smoothies, again that pesto, and also down there with the hemp. I just submitted it in the pictures and the video of how the UW plants are doing down there with the different varieties there and they're coming around nice flowering. But I'm so impressed by all the tribute hemp plants that are down in the gardens, the 10 foot tall plant With the colas like just juicy and big.

Speaker 2:

And she's not even I think it's only halfway through flowering, there's more.

Speaker 1:

It's crazy on the farm right now. These plants, these girls are wild around here.

Speaker 1:

That's how we like them and they're just, and they just come and let nature do its work. Honestly, not like any unnatural nothing, nope, not a darn nothing. And the mushrooms. And we ran into Thiensville Market the guy selling the mushrooms and he had the cutest little containers we're trying to figure out how to offer him, because we're going to have more mushrooms and we know what to do with Actually, we know exactly what to do with them. We're going to put them in the containers, we're going to bring them to the market and we are going to find good homes for them. Yes, summer white, did you cook those up? Oh, yeah, the summer whites, I love them.

Speaker 1:

They didn't have a ton of flavors. No, I feel like, and use your garlic and probably some other fresh herbs in there, throw some chive on some basil, some oregano, Just as a meal. Yeah, I did. I subbed it as, like my protein Vegan.

Speaker 2:

Vegan. I'm hungry.

Speaker 1:

I know I'm getting really hungry. It is getting around to be that time, Girl.

Speaker 2:

We gotta go Until next time we didn't even say our prayer, though Should we close with a prayer? Yes, please.

Speaker 1:

As we said, labor of love and pick the milk thistle for motherhood. I don't know if y'all caught up on that Labor, labor Of love and the motherhood and with our babies going back to school and who is to say that's why she came right now, that's why milk thisistle is in full bloom right here, right now is to protect those babies on the summer vacation, because Lord knows all those outside influences that they get from school, you know, and they got to protect our babies. That's the motherly instinct. That's like the mama bear coming out Like don't, don't, just kidding, I get the crazy look in my eye.

Speaker 1:

I love you too you know, I was also thinking too of like how much you've put up with. What do you mean, of like when, just getting the truck, emissions of the jeep and like you know. And then I'm like remember when you were using your truck and you had to unpack that thing, repack that thing, and we had it all in the travel trailer and we had to like lift it crystals too and that's when we got like the big cathedrals and you had to lived off all those things, that.

Speaker 1:

thing was like the man in her truck.

Speaker 2:
