93 years. 23 critical moments. One industry rewritten.

This episode explores the full arc of AI's collision with the automotive industry — from the 1956 Dartmouth Conference where artificial intelligence got its name, to a projected morning in Toronto in 2049 where intelligence systems are so embedded in mobility that they've become invisible.

We trace twelve historical moments that built the foundation: Ernst Dickmanns' self-driving Mercedes van in 1986 that the industry ignored. The DARPA desert race in 2004 where no vehicle finished — and the 2005 rerun where five did, creating the talent pipeline behind Waymo, Aurora, and every autonomous vehicle company that followed. The deep learning persistence of Hinton, LeCun, and Bengio through two decades of skepticism. Google's entry into automotive in 2009. The Transformer architecture in 2017 that made GPT possible. And the tool proliferation of 2023–2024, when the industry started buying AI faster than it could integrate it.

We examine the Break Point — the moment we're living through right now — where tools stop scaling, coordination debt overwhelms organizations, and leadership teams confront a question they've been avoiding: Is this a technology problem or an organizational design problem?

And we project forward through ten structural moments that follow logically from the forces already in motion: intelligence architecture replacing fragmented tools, AI agents joining the workforce as operational participants, the security arms race as every vehicle becomes an attack surface, vehicles becoming energy nodes on the grid, and the full realization of the Intelligence Age by 2049.

Auto Agentic (www.autoagentic.ai) is an automotive intelligence company architecting how AI actually operates across dealership organizations.

Founded in 2024, Auto Agentic was created to solve a problem no vendor was addressing: automotive didn’t lack AI tools—it lacked intelligence architecture. As features multiplied, coordination worsened, insight fragmented, and transformation stalled.

Auto Agentic exists to change that.

We design agentic intelligence systems that unify operations, coordinate data and workflows, and enable organizations to move from fragmented automation to connected, predictive, and self-improving intelligence.

Our work is built on three foundations:
 • the Automotive Intelligence Pyramid
• a coordinated agentic architecture of 75+ automotive-native agents
• and systematic transformation partnerships

Auto Agentic is SOC 2 Type II certified and trusted in regulated environments.

We don’t deliver tools. We build operating intelligence.

We partner with dealer groups and OEMs to architect how intelligence flows across their organizations—creating companies that coordinate rather than hand off, predict rather than react, and build advantages that compound over time.
