In this special episode of Sober Across the Pond, Bridgene and Michael mark a major shared milestone: 10 years alcohol-free between them.

Bridgene recently achieved six years alcohol-free, Michael also accomplished four, and together they use this “ten year soberversary” to reflect on what life without alcohol has given them — but first, they take an honest look at what alcohol costs.

In Part 1, we talk about the wider cost of alcohol on healthcare systems, workplaces, families, productivity, relationships, and personal wellbeing. We also explore the word “burden” — not as a shaming word, but as a wake-up word.

For many middle-lane drinkers, the signs are already there: tiredness, anxiety, low mood, lost productivity, broken promises to yourself, or that quiet feeling that alcohol is taking up too much space.

This episode asks a simple question:

Are we willing to stop ignoring the signals?

Part 2 continues next week with the joyful side of the milestone: peace, clarity, identity, sober weekends, self-trust, and sobriety as a superpower.
