Black, Brown, & Unsolved

Dulce’s Mom Speaks With Me… Is She Telling The Truth?

Amberly

In today’s episode, I sit down with the one person whose name has never left the center of this case — Noema Alavez Perez, the mother of missing 5-year-old Dulce Maria Alavez.

It’s been nearly five years since Dulce vanished from a park in Bridgeton, New Jersey. And while the search has gone cold, the questions haven’t. From her initial reaction… to what she remembered Dulce was wearing… to that infamous 911 call — the public has dissected every move Noema made.

So today, I ask her directly:

  • Why did you call your brother before the police?
  • Why didn’t you get out of the car?
  • What did you mean when you said you didn’t really know your daughter?
  • And… did you have anything to do with her disappearance?

This conversation is raw. It’s uncomfortable.

And it might leave you with even more questions than answers.

But this is the heart of Black, Brown & Unsolved — asking what others won’t, and centering the stories that the media too often leaves behind.

🎧 Also available now: my exclusive interview with former family spokesperson Jackie Rodriguez, unlocked for Straight No Chaser listeners.

She tells me why she stopped advocating for the family — and why she believes Noema knows more than she’s saying.
