Hello, hello, hello, and welcome back to another episode of Harry Starting With, a Harry Potter podcast. It's me, Coda.
SPEAKER_01It's me, Alicia.
SPEAKER_00And today is the day we are here to close out our discussion, our journey into Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with chapter 22, I'll post again. And what a journey this has been into the third installment, into the Harry Potter franchise. Oh, Alicia, I have so many questions for you in terms of your thoughts on this final chapter, your thoughts on this book overall, where it lands in terms of the three books that you have now read for the first time. And yeah, we're gonna get into all that. But before we do, you know, I have to ask Alicia, how are you?
SPEAKER_01I'm doing really good. I went to the beach yesterday. I went to Chinkatink Island where the wild ponies are, wild horses are. There's like a lot of the native plants of Maryland. I think that's actually might be in Virginia, but there's like marsh. So it's kind of like swampy the air. There's different pathways you can hike. There's like this beautiful lighthouse, and then you have the Atlantic Ocean, and then you have the Bay side as well. So kind of whichever way you want. The Bay side is better for fishing, the Atlantic side is better to like go swimming. I honestly felt like a little kid. Like I let my hair get wet, I was diving in, I was catching waves, and on Pisces, I just felt like very like this moment of like finally I'm with my people, like I'm in the water and everything. The thing about Chinkatink though is that the horse flies are insane. So at the beach part, you look down, and I'm I'm this is disgusting, but the whole first line of the water is dead flies. Yuck. But they're not really like attacking you. If you go on a path without bug spray, which me and my group we did, we were running through the flies. I thought I was in the Hunger Games at one point, and someone just sent them on us. Like book two.
SPEAKER_00Not the tracker jackets, yes, the tracker jackets. Literally.
SPEAKER_01Don't make me call the tracker jackers. So someone was praying on our downfall, but honestly, it made it more fun because we just ran to the car and we're like, all right, we're out. And the food was incredible and stuff. So really, really happy that I got to finally go to the beach and start my summer essentially. How are you doing?
SPEAKER_00I love that. I am doing okay. There's a lot going on in New York and I guess just the world overall. But shout out to the Knicks in the five. And who would have thought the day I would the day would happen where I'm talking about fucking the NBA finals? Like, please, like, do you know who you're talking to here? Um, but yes, I was following the sports uh for once in my life because honestly, I will say, like, as someone that's living in New York, the primary reason why I was following the whole NBA finals is because I want to know when it would be over, because just like all the chaos of the city, every time they won or lost, it's like there's just the city would be so raucous. And a lot of times when I'll be getting out of my evening acting classes, it'll be right in line with when the games were finishing. So the trains will be crowded, there will be chaos in the streets, and I'm like, I'm just trying to get home. So I was like, I need to figure out when this, like how this NBA final shit works. So I was really googling how did the NBA final work? So I'm like, okay, so there's seven games, it's best out of seven. Uh, the teams are gonna keep playing back and forth until whoever wins the first four matches or whatever. But through that, like frustration of me wanting it to be over, I kind of started to fall in love with that. I went to one NBA like watch party for game three, I think. Or was it, yeah, game three, because my friend works at a bar where they're playing it. So I was like, let me go see her. So I was watching it with the crowd up until the final buzzer or whatever. So I kind of got invested a little bit. Like, I do enjoy sports, and like it's just not something I will dedicate four hours a night to watching or like you know, stuff like that. But the glimpses that I did catch of it, it was a lot. And I think it was game four that was so intense with Knicks coming back at the last few seconds to catch up after like a 20-point, like being behind 20 points or whatever. So, all that. I got I got I got swept away in the whole NYX of it all. So I'm glad that they're able to win game five and overall win the whole NBA finals thing. And yeah, so New York City was crazy like this past weekend because of that. So that was cool. I think they're gonna have um a parade this coming Thursday to celebrate the winning.
SPEAKER_01So you'll be in town.
SPEAKER_00I will be in town, so I I will join the festivities as someone that's been living in New York for a good amount of time now. Shout out to Miriam Domini. Like he has just come in and really just turned the city on its head in terms of all of his progressive, helpful policies to actually help New Yorkers. So shout out to him, and then the fact that, yeah, the New York Knicks are winning after what, 40 years or something, that's great. But yeah, and also just in overall, New York is just it just feels alive right now. The Puerto Rican Day Parade is happening the day that we're recording this. Brooklyn Pride happened the other day, Queen's Pride happened the other day. We have Pride Month, uh, you know, festivities happening all throughout the month. And then also there's a World Cup that's happening down in Jersey or somewhere, so like people are coming to town for that. So there's just a lot happening. There is a lot happening. And it's good to see people happy and you know in spirits and just you know enjoying life, even with all the chaos that's going on at the federal level and stuff like that. So I, you know, even though I'm uh I can be a bit of a grump sometimes seeing everyone out and about enjoying their summer, I do I it's also nice to see people being people.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, the connection, the camaraderie that these big events can bring. Yeah, that's the sadness are really beautiful. They got you. They got you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they got me, they got me. But I'm also traveling right now for work, and I was, you know, you know how like different places have little torchy gift shops based off of where you're at or whatever. I'm in Vegas right now. And I stopped into one of them because I was like thinking of one of the people that I'm seeing right now. I was like, oh, what if I got them like a little trinket? So it definitely just let them know that I was thinking of them. No, literally, that was me. I walked out of that store so fast, I was like, control it, control it, control it. Who the fuck are you right now? What do you mean you're trying to bring back a souvenir? Like I said, absolutely not. I do not like these, I do not like these feelings. I do not like the like who am I becoming? I started to control it. I put that chain back so fast, I was like, absolutely not. It needs to be at least another six months to a year before you're buying anyone any fucking gifts.
SPEAKER_01The thing is, you're such a considerate person, and you you know that that gift, whatever it was, would probably like make them happy, right? So like it's a beautiful thing and shouldn't have to like carve that out of you. But don't present the gift. If you buy it, don't present it until it's like truly earned. Is that a fair like compromise?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because it's literally only been like two weeks.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're getting a little lesbian over here. Oh my god, speaking of lesbians, the studs are down bad at work. Okay, so after I left my work, I went to a place where you have to. I went to the dispense, okay? I went to the dispense.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01And just like a host at a restaurant, the security at the dispense is the first person you interact with, and they typically will set the tone. And I usually have like great conversation, everything's good. I walk in and this stressed-out stud is on speakerphone, and all I hear is, I don't give a fuck that you're at your job. She's like, babe, babe, calm down, calm down. There's people here. I don't care. She's like, I'm gonna hang up. She's like, You hang up, I'm blowing your shit up. And I'm like, oh my God. And she was so stressed, and she was trying to be considerate. She like muted the phone. She's like, guys, I'm so sorry. Me and the three people behind us, we're like, it's okay, it's okay. Like, yeah, I'm worried for your safety. She's not having a happy pride. So shout out to the stud at the dispensaries. Leave the phone in the car because your girlfriends are crazy.
SPEAKER_00Oh, ooh, well, yeah. Well, happy pride, and yeah, so yeah. So I see all that to say, overall, I'm doing well. Summer summering. And I will say, I really enjoyed last week's episode. I listened to it back. I really enjoyed it. Obviously, my mic sabotaged me like like 10 minutes into the episode. Like, of course, the episode we're crashing out, acting a fool with good jokes, and like that's when my mic wants to go, you know, act crazy or whatever. But thankfully I had a backup audio that was recording me. So I that's kind of what you guys heard in the second half, picking the picking up the Slack or whatever. But I think my mic is back in formation for this episode to close out this final chapter. So praise Jesus. But you know what, we do what we can over here. So who knows? If y'all leave some more five-star reviews for us, we can get some sponsorships, we can get some live studio time, maybe a little bit on-camera recording action. You never know what could happen in the future with the support of friends and listeners alike. But without further ado, Alicia, are you ready to just close out this motherfucker and discuss Harry Potter and the Prince of Ask Land chapter 22? I'll post again.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Let's get into it. This chapter picks up right where we left off in the last one. So, if you guys remember, Buckbeak has rescued Sirius Black and they have flown into the sunset to get the fuck out of Hogwarts. So that went very, very well. And so now it's time for Harry and Hermione to get back to the hospital wing. They have 22 minutes until midnight, so they are booking it. At one point, they hear Sirius Snape and Fudge have a conversation, so they kind of hide away, and they witness Snape telling Fudge that he wants to make sure that the mentor's kiss will be performed right away on Sirius Black, and he hopes that Dumbledore does not make any difficulties. He just wants this over and done with. Snape has had a traumatic night. I'll give it, I'll give him that.
SPEAKER_00Girl, ain't nothing happened to that man. Fuck them. What happened to that?
SPEAKER_01I mean, he caused it.
SPEAKER_00Right. Besides Ben Hending knows you getting knocked unconscious by three students, he's fine. Like, I don't know. Something about him wanting to see someone die so badly, like, is it's rubbing me the wrong way. But I guess knowing what he knows and what he thinks to be the truth, I guess. Um you're a little bit of a Snape defender. I'm sorry to pick that up from you, and that's interesting as we go forward. Because you will definitely be ruffling some feathers as we go forward with the audience for your stance on Snape. But I like that.
SPEAKER_01Forgive me, audience. For I don't know. But I will say, Snape is always accusing Harry of putting his nose in other people's business and finding trouble. And look what Snape did. And he's supposed to be the adult. Cornelius agrees with Snape and says this entire Dementor Fiasco has been horrible PR. And he wants all of this to be over with. He's really excited to finally tell the Daily Prophet that they've got Sirius Black at last. Fudge also tells Snape that the newspaper will probably interview him and want to interview Harry. But don't worry, Snape, you'll be able to tell the people that you saved Harry's life and blah blah blah. Harry's listening to this on the other side of the hallway like motherfucker. Anyways, when the path was clear, the duel get going to the hospital wing again. They slightly get interrupted by peeves, but we're gonna fast forward. They have three minutes left, they're racing, and they hear Dumbledore says, Alright, kids, I'm gonna lock you guys inside, and they greet him. And Dumbledore looks up with a huge smile and says, Well, and they're so excited to tell him, We did it. We did it, Joe.
SPEAKER_00It's a full circle moment. They literally come right back to where we started two chapters ago or whatever. So I like it's like a little time loop situation. So I yeah, I don't want to think about it too much, but it's just cool how they've come full circle.
SPEAKER_01Because it makes no sense.
SPEAKER_00I don't, I'm not thinking about it. Let's go, let's go. It's too much to think about.
SPEAKER_01It's like too Jedi mind trick for me. But uh basically he says, Oh yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and lock the door now. They lock them in. Domador leaves, the students are back in the hospital wing. Madame Pomfries is very thankful she can finally have access to her own patients again. And now it's just time to wait. Like, wait for commotion, wait for drama, wait for a sign that they've discovered that Sirius is not there. And it comes. It's far away at first, but Cornelius is explaining how Sirius could have possibly escaped. And he says, you know, maybe he disappearated and Snape's like, that's impossible. No one can aberrate or disapparate inside of Hogwarts. It was Potter. I know it was Potter. Cornelius has had enough. He's like, dude, like I was kind of fucking with you in the last chapter, but like, what's your deal? This wasn't Potter. He's been in the hospital wing this whole time. You know this, I know this. What's going on? Well, Dumbledore and Cornelius Fudge and Snape take the opportunity to go into the hospital wing to clear this up. And Snape goes straight to Harry, which, if I was Madame Pomfri, I would be like, There's no reason for you to talk to my student right now. Dumbledore is one thing, but he doesn't owe you any homework. He's already taking your exam.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01School's out for summer. Goodbye.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, like literally crashing out from all the way in the hallway, back into the hospital, waiting to yell at a poor kid. Like they said at one point that Snape was like he was so mad that he was like, spit was coming out of the side of his mouth. Like he was like truly crashing out, like like a what like rabid, rabid with anger towards Harriet. Like, you're doing a lot. It's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01Like, who's really the werewolf? Since you all hate them so much.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01So he's like, Harry, what did you do? More gaslighting occurs with Snape, and Dumbledore even says, There's no way he got out. Like these kids could be in two places at once. Dumbledore, subplay.
SPEAKER_00Like him just being cheeky, like knowing damn about what he was up to. Like, canal with that man. He said, I locked the door. They're been in here this whole time. Like, what are you, what are you talking about?
SPEAKER_01What are you speaking of, D.Va? I'm not cheating on you. But I love how the kids like didn't laugh at that because my ass would have been cracking up. I would have chicken from my head and be like, like, not the headmaster being in cahoots with us.
SPEAKER_00We love that for us.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_01So Dombador was like, Well, Madame Pomfrey, did you see them leave? And she's like, absolutely not. And I need you guys to stop like messing with my job role because I I've had it.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry. Speaking of Madame Pomfrey, let I just, if you guys aren't following us over on Harry Sarmley on Instagram, you just gotta go over there. I posted a day in a life vlog of us recording the last episode, as I talked about in the last episode. And Alicia posted this five-minute rant slash discussion of like five characters that we discussed in the last chapter. It was so good. Like I didn't even know you were gonna do it. So when I just clicked on your story or clicked on the Instagram of clicked on our Instagram story and I saw it, I was like laughing so hard on the train. And you even messed with me as a number five.
SPEAKER_02I said, No, I'm not in it.
SPEAKER_00But it was just so funny and it was so good. So if you're not following us over on Instagram, make sure you go over and follow us. And who knows, you might get more on-camera videos and promotion from us if you want to see what we look like and all of our hijinks go over and follow us over on Harry Sarmlight Instagram.
SPEAKER_01Thanks for shouting that out. And I loved your day in the life, it was so good. That inspired me to just pick up the camera. So a seething Snape now switches out the hospital, and Fudge looks over at him and says that that man is quite unbalanced. Or just call him an incel. I know you want to. Fudge says, like Snape, he is also having a very hard day because at this point, he has to deal with the Dementors kissing a student, Harry, a missing and wanted criminal escaping now two times under his watch, and a missing and very much unbeheaded butt beak. Someone is on the election chopping block and he knows it's him. Dumbledore asks if the dementors can finally leave Hogwarts. Dumbledore has wanted them to be gone for the entire school year. Pudge says, absolutely, these people gotta go, or these creatures have to go, and maybe next year we can secure Hogwarts with dragons.
SPEAKER_00Not Nor, what was her name? Norbert. Norbert is gonna make an appearance now.
SPEAKER_01Norbert and like his 10 kids can come.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Hagrid would be so happy to have.
SPEAKER_01That would be really cute. That'd be cool.
SPEAKER_00Full circle, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So all the adults leave, and now it's just Harry and Hermione in the hospital Wayne. And magically Ron decides to wake up, but he's so confused. He's missed a lot of chapters, a lot of time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02And Harry goes down for the cake.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. He has so many questions. Harry just looks at Hermione and says, Woman, you're gonna have to do this labor.
SPEAKER_00And he just eats his chocolate. He says, I am the main character, I've been through enough this chapter my whole life, actually. Hermione, go on, just give him the recap of what we just experienced. But I'm kind of glad that Ron wasn't with them for the time traveling mission. Because I feel like if it was two versus one in terms of like Harry interfering at any point, then you know Hermione would have been outnumbered in terms of like, you know, not intervening. So when it was just because it was Harry and Hermione alone, Hermione was able to like B-stands, like, do not interfere, do not interfere. And Harry was able to like listen. But if Ron was there, you know how they'd be teaming teaming up against her, then who knows what would have happened. So it was probably for the best that Ron was down for the count for their whole little adventure they just had.
SPEAKER_01I totally agree. Ron is very much a yes man, like he doesn't ask much questions, and he he will follow you into the dark, even though that dark is falling off a cliff. Like, yeah, that would have been too much stress for her, Money. So it worked out.
SPEAKER_00Glad to see him. Yeah, glad to see Ron is back too alive and healthy. Fuck Peter Petagro for even attacking him in the first place. But he's good, and hopefully his leg is also on the man as well. So he was definitely going through it.
SPEAKER_01And Harry has had a lot of trauma with the Dementor's kiss, but Ron finding out that his rat was a grown-ass man the whole time, that's very traumatic for the mind, body, and spirit. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01So now that day wraps up. We can finally get to tomorrow. So the next day, all the exams are done, and a lot of the students have taken this chance to go to Hogsmead. They're on vacation, they're loving it. But this trio is so exhausted, they held back. They say back. Hagard runs into them and says, I know I shouldn't be happy with Sirius Black on the on the move again, but I am because my my buckbeak ran off in the process. He he thinks that it's his fault. He thinks that he didn't securely tie him up. So he's like, Oh, like it just worked out. And I was so worried because I know that Lupin transformed into a werewolf last night, but Lupin said no, I never attacked anyone. So he knows for a fact that my buckbeak is safe. He doesn't know where he is, but he's he's very, very happy. And then he said, Oh, yeah, by the way, Snape told everyone this morning, at least in the Slytherin house, that Lupin is in fact a werewolf, and now Lupin is resigning. And the trio is like, No, what? What?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah, because when Hagrid had mentioned that Lupin said he didn't eat anyone last night, but they were like, wait, what are you talking about? Eat someone like because Hagrid didn't know, they did Hagrid didn't know that Lupin was a werewolf either, even though he was faculty, because I think only the own person I knew was Dumbledore. So when Hagrid just kind of announced the only said that, oh yeah, Lupin said he didn't eat anyone when he transformed last night, it kind of fit the pure by surprise. Like, wait, what are you talking about? Like, you're not supposed to know that. So then that's when Hagrid's like, oh yeah, Snape was a fucking petty bitch and exposed him. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01So it's Oh, I thought all faculty knew.
SPEAKER_00That's what I thought too. But when I read it back, and it I think it says something about Harry being surprised at the fact that Hagrid knew, then I was like, oh, Hagrid, they didn't know. It just took them by surprise that Hagrid knew now. Because yeah, only I think only Dumbledore knew Dumbledore and Snape. Dumbledore and Snape, yeah, because he had to make the posture from. But yeah, so the way Hagrid know his goofy ass just says so nonchalantly because he loves gossip. The trio's like, wait a minute, how do you know about that? And then Hagrid's like, oh yeah, Snape, and then yada yada yada.
SPEAKER_01So okay, so that part's done. But now Harry knows he needs to see his mentor, he needs to go see Lupin and try to stop this resignation from happening. When he comes in, Lupin has a smile on his face and he says, I saw you come and kid, and points to the Maruder's map. Harry immediately tries to stop this horrible decision for Lupin to resign. This is the best teacher he's ever had, specifically the best professor against the dark arts teacher. They've had horrible teachers before. You know? He says, Does the Ministry of Magic think you were trying to help Sirius Black? Like, is that why you're leaving? Lupin says, Thankfully, no, Dumbledore put in a good word for me and said he thought that I was trying to save you guys, which I was. And he says, But Snape did let it slip, he says, that I'm a werewolf to his students. This was either very people pleaser of Lupin. Like he's defended Snape even when he shouldn't have. Or he might just be so noble that he doesn't want to badmouth a fellow teacher to a student.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I feel like a part of me, like, I feel like Lupin was just waiting for the other what is it, the other shoe to drop, the other ball to drop. I feel like because of his world perfection, he already knows how the wisdom community feels about werewolves. So the fact that he was able, even able to get this position at Hogwarts was a huge stretch. And it's only because of Dumbledore's trust in him and like relationship with him. So I feel like he's probably like having to keep this secret the whole school year and try to navigate. Taking the potion and being away during full moons, and it was all probably just a lot. So he just knew it was only a matter of time that it would come out. And then the fact that he transformed like he did yesterday or the night before, he's like, it's only a matter of time. And with Snape being on this like petty streak, like so. Yeah, I think like it was just like I don't know, maybe it felt kind of like a relief almost like, dang, my secret's exposed now, and I probably can't stay anymore. Yeah. Because he resigned. It's not like he resigned with the we're about to talk about it, but he resigned with the knowledge that now that my secret's exposed, here the letters are gonna be coming from the parents talking about some I don't want my kids being taught by world, whatever. So he's like, even if I didn't resign just because the students knew, I knew like the force, the strength of the parents and the faculty, you know, alone would cause me to have to get up out of here. So I don't know. I it kind of, yeah. And I yeah, but I do agree with the fact that he probably did also want to just keep it professional. Like he's not gonna start batting Snape in front of Harry as much as he wants to, even with their history. And so I think it's just a class act, honestly.
SPEAKER_01He's just a class act. It's a class act, and I think you're right that this this is probably a weight off his own shoulders if he's had this like looming secret, essentially. And this was a way for him to maintain at least some dignity on his part and maintain some control of like the shit storm that's coming.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01I just think that him and Professor McGonagall could not be more different because she was so disrespectful, in my opinion, about Prof Professor Trelone. Like she was talking shit like two, three times in front of a whole lecture room of students. It wasn't even one-on-one.
SPEAKER_00I see what you mean. Okay, I see what you mean. The way, okay, because when Professor Trelawney was scaring the students about someone who's gonna leave us and they thought that someone's gonna die. And in Professor McGonagall's class, she was like, Oh, that crazy old lady, that's what she says this every year. Like, fuck, yeah, I see what you mean. And even over at Christmas dinner, I don't know if it was this book or the last book, her like just bash like it was this just like yeah, just like bashing Professor Trelani's like kooky predictions or whatever. I see what you're saying. And there were students at that table. They were like four students. Yes. So we're at Professor McGonagall's being shady boots in front of students, doesn't care Professor Lupin is keeping it a class act when it comes to Snape as much as he shouldn't have to. Especially when he exposed his secret that he swore to Dumbledore, or that Dumbledore made him swear that he would never do when he found out initially when they were back at school. So I also wonder how Dumbledore feels about the fact that grown man Snape broke his promise not to expose Lupin's secret. I don't know if that's a fireball offense, but if I was Dumbledore, I'd definitely be looking at Snape a little like, bitch, I told you not to say anything. You dare lose me, one of my top faculty members. Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, if I was Dumbledore, how could I like Snape? Like that list, like the pro list is way shorter than the cons at this point. Yeah. Yeah, I'm I'm curious to see how their relationship dynamic evolves or devolves throughout this book.
SPEAKER_00I think Lupin, yeah, I think Lupin also said that it was Snape's final straw. Like, cause Dumbledore was able to smooth things over with Minister of Magic Fudge and like clear Lupin of having any involvement with Sirius or any like thing to do with that. I think that's what made Snape like finally like crash out the most because he saw with his own eyes Lupin and Sirius hugging up with each other in the street and shack. He knew that they were friends, he knew that he may have helped Sirius with whatever he needed. So the fact that Dumbledore is also able to like not only Sirius was able to get away, but Lupin's not getting charged with anything either. Snape was like, fuck that. I'm exposing that bitch's secret, and I'm just gonna, I don't care. I'll take whatever repercussions come with it. So Lupin's Rob, like, you know what? I would be crashing out too if like you didn't get your way with anything. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wow. You just made me draw a parallel between Snape and the the teacher from the Fairly Odd Parents was like, I know, like fairly odd parents, like he knew Oh Professor or not Professor Crockett.
SPEAKER_00Something like Mr.
SPEAKER_01Crockett.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like what's the parallel? Oh, just the crashing out crashing out, like about knowing the truth.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, crashing out. But going back to Lupin and Harry's conversation, Lupin basically says, I'm really proud of you. Like, how did you cast that Patronus? And Harry's like, How did you know about that? And he was like, Well, I I know that you had to have done that if all the Dementors were like if they turned around, like it must have been a really powerful one. And Harry tells him the story about you know him in the future, and then being his father's stag and that correlation, and like Lupin is just like really happy. Like, clearly, this is a little bit of a sad day for Lupin, but he felt like a really proud teacher and also a proud friend because this is your friend's son that you've helped, and it's like, oh, like I did good by my friend. Yes, uh, which is really cool, and he's just happy. He said, James would have been very let down to know that his son didn't find the secret pathway. So I'm really excited that you oh, sorry, I skipped something, but Lupin gifts Harry for good the Maruders map and says, I'm happy that you guys are gonna have this. I know that you and your friends will make good use of this, and James would have been let down if his own son didn't find these pathways, so it was always meant to be. Dumbledore now comes in and announces that Lupin's ride is here, and Lupin says, Alright, I'm gonna go, but I wanna go alone. Like, don't escort me out, don't make a scene.
SPEAKER_00It's just I'm gonna just quietly silent exit, Irish exit, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Irish exit the castle. And Harry and Dumbledore stay behind.
SPEAKER_00I'm sad. I'm sad for Lupin because like, I mean, we've already discussed a little bit. Oh, I yeah, we've already discussed that how good of a professor Lupin was in terms of defense against the dark arts. Like in the first book, we have Professor Quarrel with the evil Voldemort on the back of his head, and he just like sheepish and foolish. I'm sure he was an okay professor, but how good of a professor can you be when you have this evil thing on the back of your head? And then we have don't even talk about fucking Lockhart in the second book, just a complete sham of a professor. So the fact that Lupin felt like he needed to resign, like as we mentioned, because of the looming parents' uh letters coming to call for his resignation or whatever. And in my head, I'm like, what the fuck do parents know? Because why don't you why wouldn't the parents ask their kids how this year year went for them learning defense against dark arts? Like, did you like your teacher? Did you learn anything? Like, I feel like that stuff is more important than the fact that the professor is a werewolf. Cause like, I don't know, it's just a fear-mongering and the bigotry of it all when it comes to what it means to be a werewolf. I just think it's a damn shame because I feel like a lot of parents would probably still be okay with Lockhart being the professor, even though he had been exposed as a scammer and like not knowing anything, just because he's attractive and charming and a celebrity, as opposed to actually having a qualified professor and Professor Lupin. So it's just a shame. It's like, I don't know, education in the present day where the parents think they know best when in actuality, like if you just listen to your kids and listen to the actual good educators out there that are trying to teach your fuck ass children. But so yeah, it's it's just sad that this is Lupin's exit from Hogwarts as a professor, as Harry's mentor. But I think Lupin leaves Harry saying that I'm sure we'll see each other again. And also, in addition to giving Harry the Marauders map back, because he said, I don't have any obligation to, you know, keep this from you now that I'm no longer your professor. He also gives Harry back his invisibility cloak, which I love because you know Harry's gonna need that. The trio's gonna need that. So, yeah, and him just leaving, leaving by himself, just as he came in by himself on the Hogwarts Express all those chapters ago, and Ron and the trio thought he was sick and was like, is this man okay sleeping, sleeping, sleeping? And now he's leaving again by himself. So Professor Lupin will be missed. He's definitely one of my favorite characters, and I just like how much he means to Harry, how he kind of served as a connection to James alongside Sirius, and how for one step the students finally had a good defense against the dark arts professor. So who knows who's gonna come next when it comes to that? But for this chaff, for this book, I'm glad to have him. What are your thoughts on the floor? Very glad.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01I think JK, you you missed out on a potential funny scene that we could have had, which is I would have liked to hear the House of Slytherin's reaction to finding out that Lupin was a werewolf, specifically Draco. So we really haven't heard him in a while, and I feel like he would have had something really sassy to say say, or he would have ran because he would have been like so terrified because he's been talking shit about him, making fun of him, and like causing ruckus.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I would have added one extra scene to this book.
SPEAKER_00I love that. That's all I mean, that's all I have to say when it comes to Professor Lufin. Shout out to you, gossip with whatever he does next. It's gonna be hard for him to find work, especially now that he's been exposed as being a werewolf. So I don't know what he's gonna do for work or whatever. Because also, like, there's not a lot of jobs in the wizard community overall. It's like either Ministry of Magic, Professor Hogwarts, or I don't know, shopkeeper, some shit. So who knows?
SPEAKER_01This was before TikTok, so we can't even get a following poor thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Bye.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to Lupin. Bye. We'll see you down the road, hopefully. Okay, so now that Professor Lupin has departed Hogwarts and left us behind, we now have Harry and he's left with Dumbledore and Lupin's former office. And Harry kind of just sinks into the chair, very glum and down on the dumps, now that his favorite professor has left. And Professor Dumbledore notices this and asks why Harry is down, down and out. And Harry states how with Peter Pettigrew escaping, everything they did last night, it didn't make any difference. And Dumbledore is like, of course it did. The truth was uncovered, you saved multiple innocent lives with Buckbeak and Sirius, and you saved Sears Black from a terrible fate. Now, at the mention of this terrible fate idea, Harry recalls Professor Trelani's possessed prophecy and brings it up to Dumbledore, recalling how Professor Trelani said that the servant would return to Lord Voldemort and help him return to power. And if that servant is Peter Pettigrew, with Harry stopping Sears and Lupin from killing him, it could be his fault if Lord Voldemort comes back. Now, Dumbledore, of course, not taking anything seriously, talking about giving Professor Trelani a pay raise for possibly making her second true prediction ever. But he goes on to ask Harry how has how his experience with the time turner hasn't that shown him anything when it comes to the consequences of our actions being complicated and predicting the future is difficult business, even if for Professor Trelani. So kind of just kind of swagging Harry a little bit, but like, you know, just relax. It's not like it's not the end of the world that you save Peter Pettigrew's life. Um, but he goes on to say that it was very noble of Harry to save Pettigrew's life. And for that, Pettigrew owes his life to Harry in a way. And Harry, like, oh, and the fact that Harry has now sent kind of like a lackey back to Voldemort, who was in Harry's debt, surely Voldemort wouldn't like like that. So Dumbledore mentions how a bond is now create, a bond is created between wizards when one saves the other's life. And Harry's disgusted at the idea of being bonded to Peter Pettigrew. And Dumbledore can read this disgust on his face, but it says it may come in handy in the future, and he may be glad that he saved Peter's life.
SPEAKER_01Would you want that?
SPEAKER_00No, but I see what Dumbledore is saying. It's like, look, you saved that man's life, but also you saved his life. So who knows what may happen in the future. But just knowing Peter Pettigrew's character, I'm sure in the future, if it comes down to it, if it comes to turning Harry over and or Peter say, you know, saving his own skin, Peter Pettigrew's gonna be like, Oh yeah, I remember that one time you saved my life in the third book. So like I'm gonna let you, you know what I mean? Like, I don't know. He just doesn't seem like that kind of character. He's a rat.
SPEAKER_01So like I don't think Dobby needs to call him, say, hey, this is how you practice gratitude. Write this down. Because Dobby was so different in reaction to when Harry actually saved his life, and like even when Harry like handed him a piece of clothing, he was like, Oh my god, thank you so so much. Like, you're I'm forever indebted to you, even before he like actually saved his life. So let's see, right, let's see what happens with this.
SPEAKER_00So Dumbledore states now how he knew Harry's father, James, very well, and he's saying he too would probably have saved Peter's life in the same situation. He mentions, of course, how Harry looks so much like his father, except for Harry's eyes, he has his mother's eyes. So Harry's heard this before, so but at the mention of his father, Harry decides to share with Dumbledore how he thought he saw his father on the lake last night casting the Patronus to save him, but then he says it was a dumb thought since his dad was dead. Now, Dumbledore hits us with this great, a great quote, which I love so much anytime I hear it, and it says, You think the dead we have loved ever truly leave us? Something about that. Like, I feel like that's a great quote for if you're ever dealing with grief or losing a loved one. Just something about that. Like, and you know, people say from time to time, like, oh, like they may be gone technically, like on this plane or whatever, but they're always with you. So I feel like Dumbledore just reiterating that's a Harry in this moment when he comes to thinking about his father and him not being on the lake, but it's something about that. It's just really beautiful. But he goes on saying how that the dead they show up the strongest when we're in the greatest trouble or in most need of them, and that Harry's father lives in him. How else was Harry able to produce such a strong Patronus, his father's Patronus? And he says, Prongs wrote again last night. Now, Harry's like, wait a minute, what do you know about some prongs? Because again, remember, prongs is the nickname that James Potter had for himself as part of the Marauders pact, and you know, Dumbledore doesn't know anything about the Marauders, but apparently Sirius Black came clean to Dumbler last night when he was still locked up, and Dumbledore was like, I'll be damned. Like the fact that's quite the achievement for students to become anime guy, but also for you to keep this secret from me at my own damn school, and y'all were roaming around the Hogwarts grounds and whatnot. But so Dumbledore gives them uh gives Sirius his flowers and kind of you know it's a little cheeky nod to the fact that he now knew about that. But Dumbledore leaves Lupin's office and Harry to his confused thoughts as he ponders everything that just happened with Lupin leaving and Dumbledore talking about his father and their connection and how the dad truly never leave us and just everything about that. So, yeah, so that was our you know conclusion to Lupin and Dumbledore for this book and everything. And yeah, Alicia, what were you thinking about this whole conversation that I feel like every book answers the conversation with Harry and Dumbledore? So I liked how this one kind of like gave Harry a little bit of peace when it came to his thoughts surrounding his father and seeing him versus not seeing him and his connection to his father. And who knew that it'll come full circle when it comes to Harry learning how to produce a Patronus and the connection that it would give him to his father? So I thought it was all very interesting.
SPEAKER_01So and yeah, you're right. About Dumbledore always kind of coming in and having these conversations with Harry, just giving him some wisdom, reassurance, some peace, even. Like I love talking about the dead, and so I like that he brought this up too. I wanted to share a little story. So this reminded me of my aunt called me the other day when she came back from a trip and was like, oh, like me and my daughter were listening to your podcast, and like she got me into it, and even though I don't read Harry Potter, like you guys give so much detail that like I can keep up. I'm like, oh yeah, that's cool.
SPEAKER_02Hey Titi.
SPEAKER_01Hi, Titi. I love you. We do curse a lot here, and I'm sorry, but we just kind of had a conversation about death and like spirituality and stuff, and I said, Have you ever had experience with like those on the other side? And my aunt had a brain tumor uh like a couple years ago, and she said that it was either before her surgery to get it removed or after. She noticed in the corner of the hospital room her grandfather that was called Kike, which is short for Erique, and her abuelo was there in the corner, like watching over her, and she knew he was there to protect her. And I was like, what? Like it was like finding out that she was a wizard. I was like, that is so cool, because I also have some connections with the dead. I don't see them, but I can hear depending, depending on things, and that was a time where she really needed that reassurance, that protection was like such a brand moment in her life. And I do think that the dead can really have this impactful like influence on you when you need them. If you cry the cry out for them, or it's almost like divine intervention in some ways, and so that was an example that after reading this book, I was thinking about.
SPEAKER_00I love that. Thank you for sharing that. And shout out to your Titi.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, in Puerto Rico, you call your aunt Titi.
SPEAKER_00And I'm glad that your aunt is still here with us and oh yeah, she's she's good.
SPEAKER_01It's been years out, and she's strong and resilient and safe.
SPEAKER_00It is now the end of term at Hogwarts, and nobody knew the truth about what has happened, what happened that faithful night was Sirius and Buckbeak and everything, except for the trio and Dumbledore. So I kind of like how they're locked in, and it's only them that knows this you know secret of that fateful night. Of course, the entire school had their rumors and speculations, though none of them were true. Draco was pissed as hell about Buckbeak not getting plucked, and and that ultimately him and his father were outsmarted by Hagrid, even though he really didn't have anything to do with it. And then Percy, of course, he had a whole bunch to say about Sirius escaping and the changes that he would make at the ministry's Department of Magical Law Enforcement if he got a job at the ministry. And the only person that would listen to him go on and on about this was his ever-suffering girlfriend, Penelope. Well, I wonder what Penelope sees in uh Percy. I don't know, they're both prefects, you know. Sometimes you check out the city.
SPEAKER_01Penelope, Melania's, whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Lord have mercy. So though the weather was great and the overall mood at Hogwarts was just very cheery, Harry had never ended a term in the worst spirits. Because even with Dumbler trying to cheer him up about how, like, yeah, like you did very important work last night, he's still just down in the dumps. Like the idea of Peter Pettigrew returning to Voldemort wherever Voldemort was hiding out, like that didn't sit right with him, losing the best defense against a dark arts professor he's ever had. Um, and uh something that the whole class is agree in agreement. They're like, who the hell are we gonna get now? Like, we've had a Lockhart, we've had a Quirl, we had Lupin. Like, shit, they're gonna give us a vampire next or some crazy person. So they're not looking forward to that. And then finally, the having the possibility of a new home with his godfather, like that's probably the thing that hurt Harry the most. Like, to have that presented to him, the idea of being able to leave the Dursley's raggedy asses forever and live with someone that was so close to his parents. And it was just it was just right there. All Sears had to do was get his name cleared, then he would have a new home forever in the magical community with his godfather, and then to just have that opportunity being taken away from him because of course Peter Pettigrew escaped, and Sirius Black wasn't able to clear his name and all. Sears is on the run still, so like it just leaves him to return to the shitty jerseys and think of what could have been. I'm sure that sucks. It sucks. That sucks. I don't know if you've ever experienced like having good news right in front of you, and then something changes at the last minute, but it makes you feel very insecure.
SPEAKER_01Like you can't ever be too happy because you feel like maybe the other shoe is gonna drop. And especially with Harry, like it has a one-to-one correlation with his safety because he does not feel safe in the Dursley's home. Sometimes, well, they're definitely verbally abusive at the minimum, and he's had things thrown at him, so it's also physical, and it crushes his spirit during summertime. And finally, it was like, is this the rainbow at the end of like my journey? And then it's just nope, the wind takes it away.
SPEAKER_00So exam results come out. Harmani, of course, surprisingly, not surprisingly, passed everything. Harry even passed potions, and he suspected Domino probably had something to do to like prevent Snape from failing him just because of being petty. And Harry could tell that Snape was still seething with anger at Harry as he winced every time they locked eyes and his hands would be twitching as though he wanted to choke Harry out. So Snape's just gonna be Snape, but whatever, Fm. So having won the Quitters tournament um a few chapters ago now, it made Gryffindor a lock for the House Cup, giving them their third win of in a row, and just decorating the Great Hall in Burgundy and Gold. The Gryffindors, of course, were very happy again. And I will say, before Harry arrived at Hogwarts, Slytherin was winning the House Cup every single year. Because, you know, Slytherin's just known to be that house, like smart, ambitious, like grid at everything, like you know, just the top dogs. Like, no one can touch the Slytherin house when it comes to just being the best at everything. Um, but something about Harry not being at this school is just like, you know, him and all his hijinks every school year just be causing them to, you know, that's neither here nor there, but whatever. Um so yeah, Griffner has one now for the third year in a row.
SPEAKER_01I was thinking like Harry has relieved the curse. I was thinking like Nixon Five. Like I was thinking it's finally been lifted, and you're like, fuck this, let's go back to how it's always supposed to be.
SPEAKER_00Like, literally that. So as the trio departs on the Hogwarts Express to go home, her mindy shares with them that she had just been to see Professor McGonagall to drop Muggle Studies, even though she passed exam with a 320%, because of course she did. And she also turned in the time turner, saying that it was just too much to deal with. But having now dropped Muggle Studies and divination, she should be okay going into the fourth year with a regular schedule at Hermione standards because she'll still be taking more classes than Ron and Harry. But you know, this is like this is manageable like no divination. I passed muggle studies, I learned what I need to know. Like, I'm good with just this being that. Very responsible. Formani to like give up the power of being able to time travel and whatnot, but I also understand for her, it's like, okay, I had my fun, I learned as much as I could, but I'm not gonna stress myself out as we move forward. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. At this point, it's a burden. Get this thing away from me.
SPEAKER_00I did think it was also interesting that Professor McGonagall didn't share with the other faculty or at least Hermione's other teachers that she had bestowed Hermione with this time traveling trinket just to keep them in the know. Yeah, I thought that was interesting. But if she had done that, then I mean Snape would have known that Hermione had this time traveling thing, and he probably would have put two and two together that they could have been two places at once. So it's probably Hermione would have been unsafe if Snape Snape would have gone to Hermione in the hospital wing and ripped that necklace out of her neck. Like, look, look, look, I told you they were doing something, his crazy self. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Maybe even Professor Treloney would have been like, no, like we can't mess with time. This is gonna cause like a ripple effect. No, no, no. Plus, she doesn't have the eye, so fuck that. She doesn't deserve it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. McGonagall said, listen, girl, me and you are gonna have a talk. This is for you and you only. I'll see you next year.
SPEAKER_00Even I'm not gonna tell no one.
SPEAKER_01And it worked.
SPEAKER_00You don't tell anyone, I don't tell anyone. And you just go and learn all you want to learn. Yeah, it works. So Ron is.
SPEAKER_01She said, I see myself in you, so here you go, bo.
SPEAKER_00So Ron is even still grumpy, though, that the whole year she never shared with them her secret, citing that they're friends. Like you should have shared with us. Ron, relax. Like you, friends, is you know, sometimes you don't be treating her like a friend, so calm it down. But Hermione's understanding of this, and she says she was but she vowed not to, so that she was gonna stay uh firm on that. And so Hermione now sees Harry looking out the window and tells Harry to chair up. And Harry says he's okay, just thinking about the holidays, at which Ron mentions how he was thinking of inviting Harry to come stay with him for the holidays at the borough with all of him and his family, and he will call him up on the felly tone, to which Hermione corrects to telephone, saying, Shit, maybe you need to take muggle studies. Like, because clearly you are so struggling when it comes to um the muggle world or whatever, and Ron just ignores her.
SPEAKER_01That's hilarious.
SPEAKER_00So Harry liked the idea of Ron's invite, cheering him up. Plus, Ron mentions the Quidditch World Cup, which would be happening during the summer, so it'll make for the perfect summer occasion for them to hang out. So we have the Quidditch World Cup to look forward to in the next book. A few hours into the train ride, an owl appears outside the trio's train car window with a little letter in its claw, and Harry lets it in. And I feel like that's a strong ass owl to be able to fly against the wind to the exact train car it needs to deliver a letter. So yeah, and you could tell that the owl was pleased with with itself because once it was let in and they gave Harry the letter, it was just like hopping and chirping about. Like it's like, yeah, I really did that. But it's noted that Harugina looked looked at the owl with a snooty, disapproving look. Harugina, girl.
SPEAKER_01Girl, you're already on the train home. Just go to sleep.
SPEAKER_00Why you gotta be like that? Like, please, like, come on, you're not the only owl that can deliver lettuce now. But very clear.
SPEAKER_01She's like, get this Gen Z ass out of here. I don't want to see her.
SPEAKER_00Where the fuck have you been this whole book, child? Harry's been struggling, going through it. Your ass has been a wall, but let me not do too much on my.
SPEAKER_01So I know you don't have a past to be here. Right. And I will tell the authorities, girl.
SPEAKER_00But Crookshanks also sat up eyeing and tracing the owl with its eyes. And Ron said, not on my watch, bitch. And he picked that all up so quick and said, I'm gonna protect this owl with my life.
SPEAKER_01You were that's not what happened. You're a liar.
SPEAKER_00That is what happened.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no. Say what actually happened.
SPEAKER_00That's what I got in my nose. What do you remember?
SPEAKER_01Okay, here's what here is because I need to defend Ronald What's his last name? Reason Weasley. So in the letter.
SPEAKER_00Oh, wait, no, I'm getting the owl.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, you're gonna get there. Okay, okay, okay. Let me trust the process.
SPEAKER_00Initially, initially, when the owl came in and Crick Shancer was like staring the cat, the owl down, that's when Ron picked it up and was like, mm-mm, you know how about get this rap or get this owl. But yeah, speaking of the letter, the letter is from Harry's goddaddy, Asius Black, and it read, Dear Harry, I hope this finds you before you reach your aunt and uncle. I don't know whether they're used to owl posts. Buckbeak and I are in hiding. I won't tell you where in case this falls into the wrong hands. I have some doubt about the owl's reliability, but he is the best I could find, and he did seem eager for the job. I believe the dementors are still searching for me, but they haven't a hope of finding me here. I am planning to allow some muggles to glimpse me soon, a long way from Hogwarts, so that the security on the castle will be lifted. There's something I never got around to telling you during our brief meeting. It was I who sent you the fireball. At this news, Hermione is like, bitch, I told you, I told y'all, like, what the fuck? I've been said it. That's why I was okay with snitching because I knew that it could have potentially been for him. And Ron's like, not too much, because yes, it was from him, but it wasn't jinxed or anything, and it turned out to like nothing to be wrong with it. But her mind did feel vindicated in this moment, which okay, two things can be true.
SPEAKER_01Maybe she does have the eye of prediction.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Hermione definitely felt vindicated in that, and the owl's just still hooting away, very happy. The letter goes on to say, Crookshanks took the order to the owl office for me. I used your name, but told them to take the gold from Gringot's vault, number 711, my own. Please consider it as 13 birthdays worth of presents from your godfather. I would also like to apologize for the fright I think I gave you the night that night last year when you left your uncle's house. I had only hoped to get a glimpse of you before starting my journey north, but I think the sight of me alarmed you. I'm enclosing something else for you, which I think will make your next year at Hogwarts more enjoyable. If you ever need me, send word. Your owl will find me. I'll write again soon. Serious. Harry is looking so happy at this letter, just taken in by the fact that his godfather not only, you know, is sending him owl posts, but you know, the reveal of the fireball being from him, this other edition that is coming with the letter, and just the fact that like someone's caring for him and looking out for him, like it just literally like warms his insides. Like there's no better feeling. So he reads the post script, or he reads what else is attached to it, and it says, I, Sears Black, Harry Potter's godfather, hereby gives him permission to visit Hogsmead on weekends. And Harry's like, that'll do it, that'll do it. That's all Dumbledore needs. Cause hey, uh, Sears is uh you know next of kin to Harry, and that's what he needed to go to Hogsmead. So Harry is now officially going to be allowed to go to Hogsmead, which is just amazing. And then finally, there's a PS that says, I thought your friend Ron might like to keep this owl, as it's my fault, he no longer has a rat. So not only does Harry get his permission letter signed to Hogsmead, but Ron now has a new pet in this owl that has not been given a name yet. Um, but so I thought that was very kind of serious. So Ron's like, before I do any keeping of gifted pets, I need verification and gifts the owl to Crookshanks to sniff. And with a purr of approval, Ron is now the new owner of Tweety Bird here. So so yeah, so yeah, so I like that like Ron was trusting Crookshanks to verify that this owl was indeed an actual animal and not another human in disguise. And yeah, like I said, I just like that Harry now has this uh next of kin, this relative that's looking off for him in this way. It's just you know me, and when it comes to Harry, it just makes me it makes me sound just like Harry to have for him to have this.
SPEAKER_01Like your nephew is being taken care of.
SPEAKER_00Yes, Coda. Yeah, and I love that he really explained everything. He said, I gave you the fireball, you're yes, it was me that you saw and Magnolia Crest and that you know you tripped over your bag seeing a big black scary rope, but I did just want to lay my eyes on you as my godson, and here's his also this final gift of giving you permission to go to Hogsme. So, like all that I can do from you, even though we're not gonna be able to be together in this moment because I'm still on the run, just know that I'm safe, Buckbeck is safe. Reach out to me whenever you want, and here's my thing, my gifts to you as my godson.
SPEAKER_01So just And he was even considerate enough to not have it delivered at the Dursley's house.
SPEAKER_00Right. Because Lord knows if they found it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Who knows? Like maybe if that was me, I would have just sent it to the Dursley's house and be like, oh shit. Um I think it's also really sweet that he looked out for Ron because Ron's mom is always looking out for Harry. And so finally, like Ron gets the benefit of being friends with Harry. And that shows like that shows real love when you're not only looking out for your child, but like even like the people in your child's life, like doing right by them, seeing them as part of things to take care of, too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's community being formed around Harry and his people. So, yeah, I love that. I love that. I love that.
SPEAKER_01The owl seems pretty young and like a little bit of an oddball. And this book began with like elderly Earl coming through. So it's like it's kind of full circle here.
SPEAKER_00Full circle. I'll post again. Shout out to Earl, be you. You're you can officially retire now. Ron has a new owl, a circle of life type shit. So I love that for Ron. I love that for Harry. So Harry just keeps rereading his letter from Sirius all the way back to King's Cross Station and right up to Uncle Vernon, who greeted Harry with his usual snarl, asking what the letter was, as if if was another form for him to sign, even though he didn't sign the first one, Harry could forget it. This is after, of course, Harry says goodbye to uh Ron and Hermione and everyone, and they plan on meeting up during the summer and whatnot. So Uncle Vernon's just being nasty as his usual self, and Harry cheekily answers that it's a letter from his godfather. Vernon's like, bitch, you don't have one. And Harry's like, actually, I do. He was my mom and dad's best friend, and he's a convicted murderer. But he's broken out of wizard prison and he's on the run, but he still likes to stay in touch and make sure I'm happy. Hence this letter right here. Oh, godness. Look of horror comes over Uncle Vernon's face as Harry grabs his belongings and Hedobina's cage and strolls along towards the exit with a smile, looking forward to what felt like a very great summer. And with that, we conclude Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, chapter 22, I'll post again, and the overall book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban. What a great finish. That I mean, what a way to end the book. I just love Harry being able to stick it to Vernon one more time, you know. So, like by using his godfather's series and just Harry coming to his own with a little bit of sass, a little bit of snarl. Like, I love that so much. It's it's things are looking good. Things are looking good. I'm glad that we ended the chapter that way.
SPEAKER_01Really wish that Dudley was like in the kitchen so he could listen to that conversation because he would have showed his pants.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, yes. He said, try me if you want to, but my godson, my godfather is a convicted of murder who ain't afraid of killing if you try me. So do with that information what you will.
SPEAKER_01I'm proud of us for getting through this book.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah, it's just about a year into this podcast, or a little over a year. We are three books in. Alicia, what were your final thoughts on this chapter and this book as a whole?
SPEAKER_01I felt that a lot of the characters were really lovable. Like Lupin. He's definitely one of my character my favorite characters in the entire franchise so far. I like Sirius's like Protective Nature over Harry. I think that this book was really, really good. But for some reason, I think Chamber of Secrets is still my favorite.
SPEAKER_00I felt like you're gonna have to be.
SPEAKER_01But this one, like immediately right after.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I felt like you're gonna say that. I felt like you're gonna say Chamber is still your top one. I think the surprise, Jenny reveal, and the mystery of it all, and students got petrified that really spoke to you. Like you were locked in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was like spicy throughout. Like it was violent throughout this. Yeah. This one I like the lore and the nostalgia that that came with it and the backstory. But that journal and the Jenny twist, now that you have reread these past three books pretty recently, if you were to rate them, what would you rate?
SPEAKER_00Rank them. Yeah, I ooh. I think I think honestly, I think I would have to be I'm trying to think. Because there is something to the whole there's like this book had a lot of reveals in terms of like, you know, the serious black uh plot twist of him, you know, not actually being who everyone painted out him out to be this book, the time travel aspect of it all. So this this is hard. I'm really trying to like, you know, I think I would have to be right alongside with you saying Chamber, followed by Prisoner of Ascaban, and then taking it back to the first book with Sorcerer's Stone. Yeah, I think that I think that's gonna be my final ranking for right now. Uh the Prisoner of Ascaban movie is really good, so I think you'll like it. That's a lot of people's favorite movie, or at least one of the like top three movies or whatever. Chamber people don't like as much. That usually falls towards the bottom of the pack when it comes to the movies, but so it's inter it'll be interesting to see compare and contrast. But yeah, we're gonna say the listeners.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm excited to see the movies. I think this would even just from the book, I think this would make a better movie because you get to see the prison, you get to see the patronist, you get to see like lupin training, Harry. Like, I want to physically see that. What I was gonna say is listeners, let us know your ranking of the first three books and maybe why. Because I'm really excited to see what you guys think. Did you like this book more or did you like the last one more?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or is the first one your favorite? And if it is, let's let's upgrade the reading level.
SPEAKER_00I was screaming. No, the first one's a classic. I always give a first of anything, I have to give it its flowers because without that one being good and telling a good story, whether it be the movie or the book, we may not have gotten the rest of the, you know, the story. So the first one really had to lock people in for this world to become what it was. So the first one will always be, you know, in a league of its own for starting this whole journey. But just in terms of like that, the story, it's kind of a little elementary, you know, and you know, the final reveal or whatever. But that one, that one is good in its own right.
SPEAKER_01That's fair. That's more than fair.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but that's where that's where we're gonna have to leave, you guys. Oh my god, I can't believe we're at the end of the road. Um, thank you so much for listening to another episode of Harry Star Made a Harry Potter Podcast. We came also conclude Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with chapter 22. I will post again what a chapter it was, what a book it was. Who knows what comes next for the pod. Um, so you're gonna have a Hogwarts Hang episode where we come to relax, close out Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban with some games, some activities. So that's gonna be fun. So stay tuned for that. And then we're also going to do a best of episode, just collecting some of the best moments from our journey into Harry Potter and the Prison of Escan. So stay tuned for that. And then we're gonna be going on a little vacation, a little summer holiday of our own. Melissa, you are gonna be headed to Portugal soon. Are you looking forward to that?
SPEAKER_01I'm really excited. I leave in like five days, so I gotta get it together. And I'm going with my best friend, Jesus, and we've been best friends since middle school, and we've traveled several times together, so let's see what this has in store. I'm just ready to like quiet the mind and experience like life without working because I feel like I've been working a lot, and I know you have too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. No, same thing.
SPEAKER_01What are you gonna do on your little hiatus from here?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, I have my classes going all the way through the end of July, so I will still be busy with that. It's also uh summer, so my job is also going to be also very demanding. So it's it's kind of like the perfect timing for us to be finishing this and being able to take a little hiatus. So we will see. We don't have a return day for when we'll be back, child. It's gonna be one of spare moves. That's maybe if we get exactly yeah, maybe we get some more five-star reviews to encourage us to pick up the next book. You know, maybe we'll maybe we'll get to it then. Uh so make sure at least.
SPEAKER_01Think of us as spending the summer with the Dirsees. We are inaccessible. Um screaming and don't call the fella phone.
SPEAKER_00Yes, and don't send us an owl, child. No, please send us an owl. Um, so go ahead and leave us a five-star review over on Apple Podcasts if you're so inclined. We'd really, really appreciate it. Uh, or leave us a five-star review also over on Spotify. Send us an email over at Harry Staram Latepodcast at Gmail.com. And of course, follow us over on Harry Sorry I'm late over on Instagram to keep up with us as we're away on our little own summer holiday. But yeah, this was fun. Thanks so much for listening. Love you guys, appreciate you guys. And until next time, I'm Coda.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Alicia. Bye.
SPEAKER_00Bye.
