In this freeing episode of Unrelated Sisters: Truth & Grace Conversation, we explore why sharing your testimony still matters — even if you’ve already told it before. If you’ve questioned whether your story still has power, this episode will gently remind you: your healed story is still holy, and God uses it more than you know.

WHY SHARING YOUR STORY HEALS YOU

1. Testimony breaks shame

Shame survives in silence.
 Speaking is warfare.

2. Testimony turns wounds into weapons

Your pain gains purpose.
 Your scars become a roadmap.

3. Testimony reminds you who God is

Sometimes your story preaches back to you.

4. Testimony reveals growth you missed

You realize:
I’m not who I used to be.
God didn’t just save me — He transformed me.

5. Testimony builds community

One woman speaking gives another courage.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that You do not waste our story.

Every place You healed, restored, redeemed, and rescued us
is now a testimony that carries life.

Break the spirit of shame, silence, and fear.
 Give us courage without pressure.
 Boldness without striving.

Show each woman the season testimony You’re calling her to share —
not for performance, but for freedom.

Heal us as we tell it.
Use it to heal others as it’s heard.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Dear Lord Jesus, we thank you for this day. We thank you for your mercy and your blessings and your grace. We thank you for this opportunity, Lord Jesus. We hope that the story that we're going to tell today that it touches people in a way that it has touched us, Lord Jesus. We hope that it is you speaking through this today. And we praise you. And we hum we are humbled by everything that you have done for us, Lord Jesus. Even though I am not sure where I'm supposed to be, Lord Jesus, that you just keep pushing me where I'm supposed to be. And I thank you for that, Lord Jesus. And today we hope that our testimony, that our stories, that it touches the people that are supposed to hear it, and that we continue to grow, Lord Jesus, and continue to spread your word. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. So welcome back to Unrelated Sisters, Truth and Grace Conversation. And today I want to start with something kind of honest. Um, I wrote this um episode, I don't know, a few months ago. Uh and we had uh we had been at Bible study, and I've been going to a women's Bible study, and I um I really enjoyed that. Uh I've really enjoyed the fellowship and the community that it has that God has led me into. But uh last night we had what they called testimony night, and everyone got to share their testimony. And and I've talked about this. I feel like I've been in a a season of rest um and a season of renewal. Um, I feel like I've been in a season of where I don't God doesn't want me to feel overwhelmed or feel like I've got to do this and I've got to do that, and I've got to do this, and I've got to do that. Because that's a lot of how my life works sometimes. But when we did testimony night, I was sitting there and I was thinking, uh I wasn't ready for this. Like I hadn't prayed about a testimony, I hadn't prayed, you know, I wasn't ready to talk about a testimony. Um, you know, I don't know which testimony I'm supposed to share. Um, I've lived a lot of seasons, you know. I've lived an addiction and loss and redemption and restoration and forgiveness and healing and marriage and you know, motherhood and being the boss and just all these different seasons of life, you know. I've had what I've had a long season of waiting and I've had a season of renewal where you know, we started this podcast, and you know, so I just kept asking God, which one matters right now? What does someone else need to hear? And the Lord showed me something so gentle, it almost caught me off guard. Like I wasn't prepared for the answer that he gave me, and it's sometimes the testimony isn't about what God did back then. Sometimes the testimony is telling your story that heals you right now. I mean, your testimony never stops. Your testimony isn't about coming out of addiction, your testimony isn't out about redemption or restoration or forgiveness or healing or your marriage or motherhood or any of any of those things. Your testimony is about where you are with God, with Jesus in that moment. And yes, if your audience is an you know addiction, then that's your testimony. That's the one they need to hear. They need to hear how you became how you came out of it. They need to help uh, you know, they need to hear how you were redemption, they need to hear restoration. If you're talking to families of addiction of uh addicts, then you know they need to hear that there is such a thing as restoration, they need to hear that you can forgive and they need to hear healing. If you're talking to a marriage conference or to other married couples, then they need to hear about how your marriage came to be and how God sent you the man that he was supposed to be. If you're talking to parents or children or anything like that, then you talk about you know your motherhood and the things that you've gone through. Um you don't just you're not defined by one or two seasons, you're defined by them all. And that's what we're talking about today. Not how to perform your testimony, but how but while sharing it is powerful, freeing, and still very necessary, not just for your audience, not just for the people that are listening, but for you. You know, we've talked a lot about uh laying the chains down and then picking them back up and playing with them. And that's why sharing your testimony is important because sometimes we do pick them up and we do start to play with them again. And when we do that, sometimes we don't notice, we don't realize. But when you sit down and you start to share your testimony, then you can see it. You can see it for yourself. So today is Super Bowl Sunday. Yay! Not a big huge NFL Super Bowl fan, but uh I've been very impressed with the uh the two teams that are playing this year. Um, you know, Super Bowl's a very big stage, it has lots of bright lights, there's lots of loud voices and lots of things going on. Uh, there's been a lot of controversy with the Super Bowl, and that is not what we are here to talk about today. You know, but sometimes beautiful things keep happening. So in interviews, press conferences, and quiet moments, players keep saying the same thing. They keep saying how Jesus is their foundation, that their identity is not in football, that the platform is temporary, but their faith is eternal. They're not preaching, they're not forcing, they're not simply testifying. And that's what struck me. Um, like I said, I'm not a big NFL fan, so I haven't really been playing, you know, paying attention. I don't know who played to get here. I know it's the Seahawks and the Patriots today, you know, but I did see on TikTok where the Patriots um quarterback is, you know, he's standing on his faith. And and I guess I have this perception of the NFL as it being this very money-hungry, they don't really love the game kind of thing anymore because you know, they make lots of money, lots of money. Uh, but these men aren't sharing their faith because life is perfect, they're sharing it because it's true and because they believe it. And it reminded me if God can be honored on the biggest stage in sports, then he can be honored in our living rooms, our small groups, on a coffee date, during a quiet conversation, on stage, during a meeting, he can be honored anytime that we share our testimony. Testimony doesn't require a microphone, just obedience. It doesn't require 10,000 people, 5,000 people, 100 people. It only requires you and one. So, what does God say about our testimonies? Let's kind of ground this in some, you know, some uh biblical truth. Um, let's kind of, you know, let's be clear about what our testimony is supposed to be. Revelations 12, 11. They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. So, what does that mean? You know, your testimony is not just encouragement, it is sport spiritual warfare. When you share how God has brought you from the ashes, when you share how God has restored your family, when you share how God restored your marriage, your children, when you share those, that is speaking spiritual warfare into the world, into the into the moment. You know, it breaks shame, it exposes lies, and it loosens the enemy's grip. In Psalms 107, 2. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story. Love that verse. Love it. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story. Not post it perfectly, not package it in a little bow, not make it seem unrealistic, not pretend on Facebook or Instagram or TikTok that everything is perfect because silence keeps us bounded, but speaking brings us freedom. When we tell the truth, when we show our humility, there's nothing greater. In Mark 5:19, after Jesus healed the man who had been tormented, he didn't say, Go move on quietly. He said, Go home to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you. Jesus sends healed people out to testify. He wants you to tell your story. He wants you to speak of him. He wants you to brag on him. We brag on our grandchildren, we brag on our children, we brag on our status at work, we brag on our bank accounts, we brag on TikTok, we brag on Instagram, Facebook, whatever, whatever we brag on it all. How hard is it to tell people how Jesus restored our families, how Jesus brought us from the ashes. So if he has touched your life in any way, if he, if Jesus has restored your family, you should be telling your story. Why do we struggle to share? Let's get on this for a minute. Um if your testimony is so powerful, why do we why do we hesitate to tell it? I don't know. Sometimes, you know, what many of us think quietly we we don't share out loud. Right? I've shared my story before. Does it still matter? What version do I tell? What if I'm not broken enough anymore? And I feel that sometimes. Like I feel like my life isn't torn in turmoil anymore. So does my testimony really matter? Do I really have something to say? Um, I've kind of been struggling with that this last month, and it's been hard to do the podcast. Um, it's been hard to life has definitely been life and uh we had some weather in in Georgia, you know, and when weather happens in Georgia, the world is coming to an end. Um, and so it's been it's been complicated, it's been very difficult this, you know, the last couple of weeks to take time to spend time with Jesus. I mean, I still pray to him, I still listen to Christian music, but to find I've been so tired and I've been so worn out from life, lifeing, that you know, it's been hard. And you know, I come up here this morning and I was sat down and I was like, I have no podcast today. I have to do one, but I have no podcast. Like I haven't heard Jesus' voice in weeks. I haven't heard it in weeks. Um, I haven't dug into my Bible in a you know in two in a couple weeks. I haven't dug into his word in a couple weeks, and I haven't heard him. We haven't had it, you know, we've been we've had a distant relationship the last couple weeks. And so it's been hard. You know, what if people think I'm bragging about what God has fixed? Ah, you know, that's not so much my my thing. And what if my story feels small? Everybody's story is small. It is, everybody's story is small. We're not Jesus, but that small story is gonna make somebody else's big story feel small too. Here's the truth that we forget God doesn't only use trauma as testimony, he also uses transformations. Sometimes your testimony isn't look how bad it was. Sometimes it's just look what God has done. Look who I am today. Look what I what he brought me from, look where he brought me to. Um, you know, and that's been my testimony the last year or so has been, it's not been about the addiction or or the trying to figure out who I was. It's been about look what God has done for me. It really has. I mean, he has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. Um, he's given me the man of my dreams. Uh, he's given me a husband that cares for me and takes good care of me. I have a roof over my head that I can be proud of. I have a good job, a good community, a good Christian community. Um, I don't feel lonely. And God has given me a lot. Your healed story is still holy, your peace is still proof, your steady season still speaks. You know, in uh John 4, the woman at the well, you know, um her story, her her testimony, and we've talked about it in the podcast. Her testimony, you know, she didn't take a class, she didn't wait until she had the perfect words, she met Jesus and she ran back to the town, ran back into town. She avoided and said, Come see a man. And the Bible says many believed because of her testimony, or the man delivered from the demons in Mark 5. He wanted to stay with Jesus, and Jesus said, Go tell people what God did for you. And later, when Jesus returned to the region, the people were ready. Testimony prepares the ground, testimony prepares what's next. Even David, through the through the Psalms, testified with raw honesty, fear, joy, repentance, and hope. His testimony still gives us language for God today. Testimony doesn't just tell a story, it gives someone else permission to breathe. You know, there's a song by Tarion, and um, and every time I hear it, it just makes my heart happy. It's called testimony, you know, and it says, This is my testimony from death to life, and the song isn't polished, it's not dramatic, it's not declarative. It just says, I'm not who I was. God met me, God carried me, God changed me. That's testimony. Point blank. It doesn't have to be this great story of redemption, it doesn't have to be this great story of restoration, it doesn't have to be crawling out of the ashes, it just has to be, I met God, he carried me, and he changed me. You know, your testimony is not gonna have perfection and it's not gonna be perfect in any way, and there shouldn't be any performance. It's just gonna be truth, it's gonna be healing every time you talk about it, every time you share, and it's not gonna be five hours or two hours, it's not gonna be your whole life story, it's just gonna be what part of your testimony you're supposed to share right then, that day, that moment, that time. So, why does sharing your story heal you? Um, well, here's what God showed me the night um that we had testimony not at the Bible study. Testimony breaks shame, shame survives in silence. Speaking is warfare. Testimony turns wounds into weapons, your pain gains purpose, your scars become a roadmap, your pain gains purpose. Testimony reminds you who God is. Sometimes, a lot of the time, um, when I tell my story, it reminds me of where I am. Um you know, I I allow the devil to whisper in my ear, you know, I allow the enemy to whisper in my ear sometimes. Um, you know, I definitely have some abandonment issues, I think, that I've not worked through. I definitely have some commitment issues that I've not fully worked through. Um, and there's probably a few more things that I definitely have not worked through personally that I need to, that I've that God has been revealing to me lately. Um I I have pretended to be of certain, I've pretended to be whatever needed to be, whatever I needed to be to fit in uh for so long that um, and this has been hard, and maybe this is why I've been avoiding Jesus. Whew, here we go. Um I've pretended and I've always fit into whatever world I am in, whether it be drugs, abuse, church, um, family. I've always been able to just be the chameleon. I've always been able to be that person. And somebody told me a month, a couple months ago that uh they just wanted my authentic self. And that messed with me. It messed with me pretty hard. Um testimony reminds you who God is. Sometimes the story preaches back to you, and sometimes I don't know if I know who my authentic self is. 98% of the time it I know exactly who I am, but that 2%, that part of am I doing it just to fit in makes a difference. You know, it's testimony reveals growth you've missed. Uh sometimes you realize I'm not who I used to be. God didn't just save me, he transformed me. Uh, he makes it different, he makes you different, he makes the way you see the world different. And testimony builds community. One woman, one man speaking gives another one courage to share their story. Let's make this gentle and practical. Um, ask God one simple question. How to share without pressure. So let's ask God our one simple question. What part of my story brings you glory right now? Somebody needs to get a pen and write that down. What part of my story brings you glory right now? And that's it. That's it. You know, name the before, name what God did, name who you are now. No church language required. I'm not great at church language, I'm not great at it at all. Just this is where Jesus met me. That's it. And start small, one safe person, one honest moment. Your testimony is a seed that needs to be planted. You don't need to control how it grows, you just need to plant it. Oh, you know, that's a little hard. That's a little hard. Uh, your testimony is a seed, you don't need to control how it grows. So, Lord Jesus, as we close up in prayer today, thank you that you do what? Do not waste our stories. Every place you healed, restored, redeemed, and rescued us is now a testimony that carries life. Break the spirit of shame, silence, and fear. Give us courage without pressure, boldness without striving. Show each woman the season testimony you're calling her to share, not for performance. But for freedom. Heal us as we tell it. Use it to heal others as it's heard. You know, Lord Jesus, thank you. Thank you for today. Thank you for this podcast episode. Thank you for pushing me to do this one. Thank you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Your story is holy. Your testimony still matters. And if God brought you through it, He intends to speak through it.
