Welcome to Frequent Traveller TV, today again with a freshly pressed show for you. Topics that I have freshly pressed are EASA. They are issuing a warning for the no-fly zone over Western Russia. The one for Lufthansa is coming soon, and Allegris Business Class has some curious restrictions. There were already some Pipi Box slogans at the Cruise, at the Cruise, where I had conversations with people. But it seems to be true that only four seats will be used. Can. Yes, then we continue with the topic of Swiss. They have the Grand Suite, a new First Class, and it is not a copy of Allegris; it is already a copy, but they have a feature that is not a copy, and it apparently costs three times the price. Let's take a look. And Alaska Airlines has launched Atmos Rewards, and there is also an interesting development, let's put it that way. There you can choose how you want to collect miles. Maybe this is something that could serve as an example for other programs. Remember to subscribe to the channel, turn on the bell, leave a like, but also to comment, subscribe, come to School, and then it continues directly. EASA extends the no-fly zone over Western Russia. It all started with the shooting down of the E-190 from Azerbaijan Airlines over the Caspian. Sea. The emergency landing unfortunately ended with 38 fatalities. This all happened on the 25th. December 25, 2024, and thus the entire Russian airspace west of 60 degrees east longitude is classified as a risk zone. The only diligence and recommendation has been extended until January 31, 2026. And it is the case that in Russia the corridors for civilian and military aviation are not clearly separated. There is extensive GPS jamming in Russia, logically posing a danger due to confusion with military targets, targets that are there, especially due to drone operations from Ukraine. This means that there is obviously a problem, and EU airlines are not affected. They do not fly through Russia anyway and are not allowed to fly because the Russians have said no, and the Europeans do not want it either. The airlines from China and other third countries continue to ignore the recommendation. Yes, that is of course always critical and that is also a reason why many of our concierge customers are currently not flying with those airlines that fly over Russia. Not only because they do not want to expose themselves to the danger of making an emergency landing and stopover in Russia for any technical reasons, which could then cause a problem, but also because it is of course a risk to flee under these circumstances. Lufthansa receives 1. Boeing 700 with Allegris Business Class, but with restrictions soon. And the delivery is supposed to happen this August, 35 or 34 more are ordered, so from the area with which it comes. The obstacle is of course that the Business Class seats are not yet certified. We had heard that Lufthansa still wants to receive the planes, but the certifications are either still pending or they are completed, but the paper is not yet signed and the ink is practically dry, that everything is okay, because the FAA has to do that. Lufthansa is still taking over the aircraft to quickly achieve operational capability and there is a transitional solution. They only use these already approved seats, and there are only four of them, while the rest of the Business Class remains empty. The Economy and Premium Economy will of course be used beforehand, there is no problem with that. In 2025, 10 new Dreamliners should still come, 14 more, and in 2027, 7 deliveries, 2028 the last 3 aircraft, but also partly for the friends of Austrian Airlines. So, now let's take a closer look at what is up with the 4 seats. Only 4 out of 28 seats are approved, presumably only the front suites in row 1 are usable. And the ticket availabilities reflect that, because there is only availability for booking class J C. And what does J C mean? Expensive prices. The first route is planned from October 9. to Montreal and economically, the whole thing is of course relatively questionable, because long-haul flights with only 4 Business seats are hardly profitable. And of course, they are exchanging for that, but then they have, shall we say, a castrated 787 Boeing aircraft. And yes, I am curious how long it will take until the seat release finally comes. The end of the year is the target, but using four seats there, which, yes, I would say is a difficult topic from 28, Montreal, which is taken, is a destination that does not necessarily have a large Business Class density in terms of sales, that’s why they also use the route. But there are indeed some questions, and one question is, for example, would you book this Dreamliner flight at a premium price if there are only four bookable seats? Or do you say, no, the price-performance ratio is not right? Or are you first movers, first in line guests, and say, hey, this is cool, I want to try it out, or only with miles or an upgrade, although I don't believe that will work directly. Or do you say, no, no, it doesn't matter, I won't fly Lufthansa anymore, I will fly with other airlines. I am curious how you see this topic. From the Lufthansa Group, there is another announcement regarding First Class. And there is the so-called Grand Suite, and the Grand Suite in the new First Class initially sounds like this double cabin that you have in the middle, but no, something else is meant by that. Swiss will integrate the new Swiss Census First Class into the Airbus 350 starting in 2026. And the highlight is the Grand Suite. It is supposed to connect two suites into a private area, and the details are that there are 1.80-meter high walls that provide privacy, allowing use as an office, bedroom, or restaurant, and space for three travelers. Yes, exactly. That means the middle cabin and the window cabin will be combined, and some wall will come in, I have no idea how. And the price is only possible through the Sursetown Swiss First Class hotline and is about three times that of a regular First Class ticket. Well, it makes sense, of course, if three people are flying in there, that it is three times the price, and they are also supposed to be retrofitted on the ER and the Boeings. And I can imagine that, I am trying to visualize it right now. How do you see it? Are you also currently trying to picture how it looks? In any case, the question arises, what do you think of this Grand Suite? A luxury product with a triple price? Is this finally the First Class experience? Is it what you would say, hey, this is the answer to the Residence, although without a shower and so on, but still. Or is it really exaggerated and not proportional, especially since many people complain about this double seat in the middle? Or is it something where you say, well, for couples and business people, it might actually be quite interesting? Or you simply say, well, no, come on, First Class is already too expensive. That's too expensive for me as well. I'm curious to see how you evaluate the whole thing. I'm looking forward to your answer. Cool. Just write in the comments on Google here. Alaska Airlines is launching a new frequent flyer program, which is Atmos Rewards. I reported on this, and the Mileage Plan and Hawaiian Miles programs will also be discontinued. The new points system starting in 2026 and the status levels are basically Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium, and Ruby Sapphire, with the last two being Emerald. Status points are for Silver, for One World Platinum, Titanium, 135, and Titanium. Members will receive Business Class upgrades on long-haul flights starting in 2026, using certificates starting from October 1, 2025. But the exciting thing about the program is the flexible points earning options. You can choose whether you earn one point per flown mile, which is this revenue-based option, then ticket price 5 points per US dollar, or number of segments 500 points per flight segment. The Milestone Perks are benefits starting from certain thresholds, bonus points, lounge passes, free upgrades, status that you can gift. This means that the new program makes it more difficult to achieve status purely through flying. The rewards are attractive but closely linked to the Alaska ecosystem. I find this option very, very exciting, that you can choose, and oh yes, I almost forgot, it will not be revenue-based. This means that they did not take the path that many others have taken or what we had feared. And these flexible collection models, you can basically pick à la carte. So how do you prefer to collect points, either by flight distance, as it used to be simple, or do you say by ticket price for frequent flyers with high expenses, advantageous by number of segments, so for those who have short-haul profiles. Or you, I don't collect at all, such programs are not worth it for me. What do you think about giving customers the opportunity to choose the system as they need it and how they do it? Because my opinion is of course difficult, because at the beginning of the year you don't know at all which flights you have. And once you've decided on one, it can be that you're stuck with it. It's already exciting to see and observe the whole thing. Remember to subscribe to the channel, turn on the bell, but first answer today's questions. Today we have three questions, and the first one is would you book a Lufthansa Drehmänner flight if there are only four bookable business seats available at these maximum prices C and J as booking class. Then how do you find the Grand Suite concept at Swiss with the luxury concept at three times the price? And somehow with both questions, one becomes aware that Lufthansa is rather going into the money-making story, where we can be squeezed like a lemon. And then of course last but not least again the Atmos program, where you say we have flexible collection models and with these flexible collection models you can collect like before. Is that something where you say hey, maybe we could learn from Malz and they can also say such models, that you simply say I want it by distance, because honestly one has to admit that if you fly to Tel Aviv or to Dubai and get the same points for the flight as to Tokyo or Los Angeles, it's difficult to convey that to one or the other, especially since there are financial differences in the ticket price. Thank you for being with us again today at frequent travel TV. Remember to subscribe to the channel, like the bell, and we'll see you at the next show. So I'm out then. See you later. Bye.
