Hello and welcome back to Road to Rebirth. My name's Roland Squire, and I've got a cup of tea, and I'm about to watch the new Jurassic World Rebirth trailer. Let's go. Lab. Gunshots coming out. This is the Godzilla 2014 moment, the Rogue One moment with Darth Vader. Darth Vader is the D-Rex here. Amazing. Just absolutely terrifying.

On the island we're headed to, two dozen species have survived there alone.

So two dozen species been there. We roughly think about 20 years. What is that in the cage? And here we go, boom sequence. Oh, that's just an amazing looking T-Rex walking into the water there. And is that blood that is in the water? Hmm. Interesting. Amazing shot over the top. Classic dabbler telling everybody to paddle. It's just so tense among this. And what a messed up T-Rex roll that is. And oh my goodness. This how big is this island for I'm looking at the shop with all the titanosaurs. Wow. Okay, wasn't expecting that.

This is giving me Lost World vibes, and I'm so the the novel I mean, and I'm so glad that I reread that this year. This feels like a mad place, as I said in that episode. That plateau, you know, is very reminiscent of Arthur Conan Doyle, and how can you really have this place existing like that?

And that's interesting, that line from Jonathan Bailey's character there. Uh d do we trust him. I'm not sure.

And again, after that shot of the pets coming in. They just they look real.

Oh. Dolores. The uh baby aqualops. Ugh. Love it. I'm gonna really enjoy that. I'm t I'm I'm sorry for everybody that doesn't like that cute little thing, but I do.

There is the D-Rex again. What I'm enjoying about this trailer is the fact that the the actual dinosaurs look and feel like real dinosaurs, and it's contrasting against the mutants very well, I think.

Wow, and there we are. And again, this feels lost world. We're now in a convenience store, abandoned convenience store with the mutadons, the weird pteranodon raptor hybrids.

The Mosasaurus. We found it.

And it's low angle shots like that when Scarlet Yohanson's going under, but we're far away, we can see what's going on, it's all done in one shot. Gareth Edwards loves that. We see it later on in the Mosasaur bit as well. Yeah. And wow, okay. Smashing up against the rocks there. The eye. Again, feels like a a creature. Feels like a real animal. And that shot of you know Planet Earth 2 or whatever, of the Mosasaur coming out, rising out of the water, and we can see the scale. That's what I want. I can see the scale of the people on the boat, and they're reacting. It feels like that is actually happening in front of those actors in front of this camera. And that's not just what was going on on the day, that's the VFX people as well. And there we go. That's the end of the trailer. Go and get your tickets now. Although, actually, I can't get any tickets in the UK at the moment. That's not available. Um it's it's a really great trailer. Um I'm glad it just expands upon stuff that we've already seen. Doesn't really give us any new uh information, just kind of visualises the stuff that was in the Empire article. And I'm just I I I know what they're doing with the trailer, it's all the action scenes, all the big beats, uh but it's a two and a half hour film. And I really want there to still be space for debate that is so integral to Michael Crichton's writing. There has to be conflict, moralistic debate going on. And David Kepp did that for Jurassic Park and for The Lost World. And I'm hopeful that he includes that in here. That means, you know, when we have those two things, conflict and debate going on, we actually create rounded characters, and that's what I want from this film, that's what I want to see.
