gwunspoken - Beyond the Plan

We conquered the jungle place and lived to tell the tale

Garry

Surprise adventures create the most memorable moments in childhood, and this spontaneous trip with Brodie proves exactly that. Driving through the city with anticipation building, Brodie kept his eyes faithfully closed until the very last moment - the commitment to mystery making the payoff that much sweeter.

Our destination? A Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course that challenged balance, strength, and coordination in all the best ways. The facility momentarily caused confusion when Brodie spotted a gymnastics center next door, briefly thinking that was our destination. His visible relief and excitement upon realising we were actually headed to the "jungle place" for parkour adventures perfectly captured the joy of exceeded expectations.

Throughout the afternoon, Brodie tackled rope swinging, balance beams, and his absolute favorite - monkey bars where he swung from one to another before leaping onto padded obstacles. His athletic prowess shone through each challenge, earning him self-proclaimed "best on ground" status (though there might be some friendly disagreement about that!). The experience earned a perfect "10 out of 10" rating, with the surprise element making it even more special.

As we drove home, already planning our next adventure on the City Cat river ferry, I couldn't help feeling immense pride in this polite, adventurous young man. These simple outings build more than just physical skills - they develop confidence, resilience, and relationship bonds that last a lifetime. What adventure could you plan this weekend to create your own unforgettable memories?

Speaker 2:

Welcome to another edition of GW Unspoken Beyond the Plan on behalf of EngageU. And. We're on the way home with Brodie. We're in the car Just getting through the city. Here I'm doing a bit of dreaming about what kind of cars and top-down lounges and butlers we'd like People look after us. Hey, and where did we end up going? Remember the way in. You're not sure where we're going. Where did we end up going?

Speaker 1:

We ended up going. Oh, end up going, we ended up going. Oh, I forgot, that's right. Oh, jungle Place, yeah nice.

Speaker 2:

And what did we do there? Parkour yeah, we did, like this Ninja Warrior course. Now let's be honest with the people who are going to listen to this podcast. Who was the best on ground? Who was the best between?

Speaker 1:

them oh definitely me.

Speaker 2:

How could you say that?

Speaker 1:

How could?

Speaker 2:

you say that Go past this light, then at the next one turn right. How could you say you were the best in there?

Speaker 1:

Just more athletic in there.

Speaker 2:

You were more athletic.

Speaker 1:

At the traffic lights turn right at the state route 25.

Speaker 2:

We're going to make this a really short one because we this is the directions here on the way home. It's still going. This is the directions here on the way home. A little short podcast. What was some of the things you did on that Ninja Warrior course? So people are listening and trying to picture it.

Speaker 1:

What kind of things did you have to do Rope swinging? Yep, you're good at that Balancing, you're very good at that, align. I've got some good taste of that. You're balancing Yep yeah and jumping to other things and monkey bars and that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, what was your favourite part?

Speaker 1:

Probably the monkey bars, one when you swing from one to the other, yeah.

Speaker 2:

And then jump onto the big boxing bags or things with nets on it yeah, you're good at that. Would you go back there again? Yeah. And would you want to do more time there again? Yes, all right, nice. And time there again? Yes, all right, nice. And finally, out of 10, what was it 10.? And was it worth the surprise, or did you still knew up front? It was worth the surprise. You did a good job because you actually had your eyes closed the whole time and right to the very end, you're like can I look? Can I look? Can I look? And you didn't, and you held on the whole time, didn't you?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I thought it was the gymnastics place. Oh, because what we pulled in? Yeah, I was a bit disappointed when I saw gymnastics and I was like, oh, it's the jungle place.

Speaker 2:

I've never been there. So Brody and I shot as we drove in and on the left-hand side was gymnastics. On the right-hand side was the jungle place where the Ninja Warrior course was, and he goes, oh, gymnastics. And we were thinking we were going to gymnastics. Yeah, would you have liked being really disappointed if it was. Yeah, would you have still had a go at gymnastics? Probably not, well, anyway. So you know, I'm fucking very proud of Brodie, very polite young man, and we're on the way home to listen to some music. Yep, and we'll do this again, and maybe next time we can go on that city cat that's on the right-hand side of us. Hey, get the river. What do you think?

Speaker 1:

yeah, peace out, peace out. We'll see you next time.
