Welcome to an edition of GW Unspoken Beyond the Plan on behalf of EngageU. And I've got my little mate Jeremiah here. How are you Good? Where are we doing our podcast today?
Speaker 2Northlakes.
Speaker 1Yeah, Northlakes Library. We do podcasts all over the shop, don't we? Mm-hmm, Can you remember the last time we did a podcast where we were?
Speaker 2Oh, at my house, I think.
Speaker 1Yeah, we were. And then before that, like Caboolture, we did a roaming one. Yeah, yeah, remember. And I beat you in a race. No, you didn't, you beat me in a race. Yeah, all right, how are you feeling? Out of five today, if five's the best, one's the worst, what number are you today? Four, okay, that's pretty good. And what are you grateful for? What are you thankful for at the moment in your life?
Speaker 2I don't know.
Speaker 1Come on, what about footy season?
Speaker 2What do you mean?
Speaker 1Are you happy about footy? Yes, yeah, cool, I know you always love footy. Now I just saw your North Lakes food court. I had a few sushi, but you had something else. What did you have? I ate some hot dogs, oh yum. Did you have nuggets? No, what did you have?
Speaker 2McChicken and cheese.
Speaker 1Oh yum Was it good.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm.
Lunch and Arcade Plans
Speaker 1I know she didn't buy me one. All right, now you've got a bit of a story to tell, but before we go there, what are we doing today, besides the podcast? What are we doing? You've got this new thing you want me to do with you. What is it?
Speaker 2Going to Planet Arcade.
Speaker 1Planet Fitness yes, no, Planet Arcade Is that where you do like bicep curls and bench press.
Speaker 2No we're going to Planet Arcade.
Speaker 1What's at Planet Arcade?
Speaker 2We're going to Planet Fitness. Is Planet Arcade, like you have to go to Mars because it's on a planet. No, it's an arcade.
Speaker 1On Mars.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1Like you have to take a rocket ship to get there.
Speaker 2No. It's in the shopping centre.
Speaker 1And what do you do in Planet Arcade?
Speaker 2You play games.
Speaker 1Oh, arcade games, that's hard to say, mm-hmm. Oh, is it fun, mm-hmm, have you been there before?
Speaker 2No Ooh. But I've been to other planet, arcades.
Speaker 1Oh, have you Mm-hmm. What's your favourite game or thing to do there? I don't know, and since it's on Mars, do you have to wear an oxygen mask?
Speaker 2It's not on Mars.
Speaker 1Why do they call it Planet Arcade?
Speaker 2I don't know.
Speaker 1Should we ask them when we get there? No, I'll say Jeremiah wants to know why. No, we should ask him why you?
Speaker 2All right, so you're going to play arcade and then what are we going to do after that? Play footy at the footy field, and I'm going to beat you.
Speaker 1Oh, probably again. Last time you did like a 30-metre kick.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1That's huge. And then you also got the cricket pad out and hit that as well. Yes, you're getting very good at your coordination.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm. And then I did the best kick remember.
Speaker 1It was massive.
Speaker 2I remember how I did that kick that you couldn't do.
Speaker 1What was that one Between the posts? Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2How I was standing on the line and the post was right in front of me.
Speaker 1Oh, you were in the corner. I was standing on the line and the person was right in front of me. Oh, you were in the corner. Yeah, really sharp angle. Why do you have to tell everyone who's listening to this how bad I am and how good you are?
Speaker 2I mean, you are good at the cricket bat.
Speaker 1Maybe I should have played cricket, not football. What do you think? Is it too late for me to play cricket? Am I too old?
Speaker 2I don't know.
Speaker 1How dare you? I, I don't know. How dare you, I don't know. We're going to have some fun anyway, aren't we? Mm-hmm? All right now, tell me what happened on the weekend. What did you do? That's exciting and fun on the weekend.
Speaker 2On Sunday we went to the Ecker.
Speaker 1The Ecker.
Speaker 2Uh-huh.
Speaker 1Tell me you can go on some scary rides.
Speaker 2I did go on one.
Speaker 1Oh my gosh, what was it called?
Speaker 2The Ferris wheel. What that's scary. It was higher than the Ferris wheel.
Speaker 1Higher than the Ferris wheel. That goes like near to the stars.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was a spinning ride, it was like a swing ride. And it puts you all the way up in the air and you get to see like the whole city.
Speaker 1Now I've got to ask you a question.
Speaker 2Were you scared? No, now I've got to ask you a question. Were you?
Speaker 1scared. No, aren't you scared of heights? No, you sound like my daughter. It went slow, yeah, but doesn't it like fan out and it goes all the way out and up like an octopus or anything.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1Oh, it just goes straight up, yeah, and then spins around.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Is it higher than the Ferris wheel?
Speaker 2Yeah, oh my gosh, you're freaking me out. That's scary. And then my sister cried on like the littlest ride.
Speaker 1Did she?
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Isn't it strange how some people get scared and some people don't?
Speaker 2Because I think it was because it was going fast, but it did go high up in the air.
Speaker 1Oh did it. Yeah well, I can't believe you don't get scared of heights at all. No, I'm not. So when you're tall enough, will you go to Dreamworld and go on some of the big loop-de-loop roller coasters and things like that.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1Look, will you be scared of roller coasters?
Speaker 2I usually go to Movie World.
Speaker 1Yeah, but when you're tall enough will you go on the big scary moot rides? Maybe, and it won't be scared.
Speaker 2Not really, oh my gosh. Because you're safe.
Speaker 1It doesn't feel like you're safe when you get flung up in the air.
Speaker 2You're strapped in, you're safe.
Speaker 1It feels like I'm going up into the sky. It feels like I'm going to go into the clouds or something.
Speaker 2You're not the rides, don't even go up in the ride.
Speaker 1Yeah, but I don't know, I'm freaking out. How can you not be scared? Did you get a show bag?
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1What was the show bag you got?
Speaker 2A Zappo one.
Speaker 1Oh, is there any Zappos left?
Speaker 2Yes, it's Tuesday, there's lots of them, because we got the big one. But it wasn't only Zappos, there was other ones.
Speaker 1Were other lollies in there.
Speaker 2Yeah, there was a lot of lollies in there.
Speaker 1Have you had a lot of lollies? Have you eaten a lot of them?
Speaker 2No, no, we only got it two days ago.
Speaker 1Are you allowed to have lollies?
Speaker 2Yes. Do you have to ask when you're allowed to have lollies. Yes, okay In that show bag?
Speaker 1what is your favourite lolly? I don't know, I don't know all of them. Is it a?
Speaker 2Zappo. Do you like Zappos? Obviously yeah, I do. Okay, it's not my favourite candy. That's just what I wanted there.
Speaker 1Okay, and what else did you do at the show? I, okay.
Speaker 2And what else did you do at the show I went on? These are the rides that I went on Okay yeah, the ride that my sister cried on was the Phoenix, I think.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Which spun around and there was like a paper airplane one.
Speaker 1Oh yeah cool. Oh yeah, I know what you mean, yeah.
Speaker 2That one. And then I went on the break dancer.
Speaker 1What's that?
Speaker 2It's a ride that hurts your neck.
Speaker 1Does it move your head around?
Speaker 2Yeah. Oh, you have to dance on it and it hurt my back and it started to hurt me because I was putting my hands up while they were spinning around, but it still hurts a little bit and my mum tried to tell me to put my hands down, but I couldn't hear her.
Speaker 1Oh.
Speaker 2And my hands were just still up.
Speaker 1And so what do you do on the break, Dancer?
Speaker 2You just sit in the ride and it spins you like fast around.
Speaker 1Does it make you feel sick?
Speaker 2But you go spin around yeah.
Speaker 1So gravity pulls you back.
Speaker 2No, it didn't make me feel sick. But, the phoenix made me feel very sick. Did it yeah.
Speaker 1Okay, so you've been in the phoenix the plane ride, the phoenix is the plane ride. Oh sorry, the phoenix, the chair one, the break dancer, the break dancer.
Speaker 2And then I went on this car ride that my sister cried on again, but it was only small too, but it did go backwards and it said scream if you want to go faster. And me and my mum screamed, so I went faster forwards.
Speaker 1Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2And then it stopped and it said that we're going backwards now and it was just going normal speed backwards and it said scream if you want to go faster. So me and my mum screamed again and it just kept going faster backwards.
Speaker 1Really yeah. So it wasn't like the Dodgem cars.
Speaker 2No.
Speaker 1It was a different car one.
Speaker 2The Dodgem cars were inside with the show bags.
Speaker 1Oh were they? Yeah. And so what did you do in the car one? Did you still get to drive around everywhere?
Speaker 2No, it was just one of those roller coasters. Oh yeah, it's on the ground and spins around, spins around.
Speaker 1Yeah, did you have any food there besides the show bags? Did you eat and dag with dogs or anything like that? No, no, no. Did you go to the animal section, the farm animals?
Speaker 2They didn't. Yeah, we did see animals, but there was a whole other section that we didn't see.
Speaker 1Oh, how come I don't know. You ran out of time, I think it was too many people. Was it busy.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was very busy when we went.
Speaker 1Was it? Is it the first time?
Speaker 2you've been to the Eka? No it was my sister's first time, okay, when I was younger, very young. It was one.
Speaker 1If I said to you, out of ten, ten was the best, one's the worst, what was the echo for you this year?
Speaker 2A. Ten.
Speaker 1You loved it, mm-hmm, so you'd go back again.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1Would you go next time on the scariest ride called the Ferris Wheel?
Speaker 2That's not the scariest ride. The Warrior is.
Speaker 1What's the Warrior? Now I'm scared of even the title.
Speaker 2It's higher than the ride that I went on. What yeah? And it like spins you up and all the way higher than there and it just goes straight down.
Speaker 1Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2My mum's been on it before.
Speaker 1Did she say it's scary?
Speaker 2No, she said that it was fun.
Speaker 1Is there like a minimum age you have to be to go on it, or do they say you have to be 12 years old or a certain height? I never went on it.
Speaker 2I didn't want to go on it.
Speaker 1Oh, you didn't want to go on it.
Speaker 2No, it looked scary. Oh, you don't want to go on it. No, it looks scary.
Speaker 1You just said you're not scared of heights and things.
Speaker 2I know, but how high is that one?
Speaker 1That one's really high, isn't it?
Speaker 2Yes, Did you have fairy floss? No, I had no food. Oh Were you there for long. We were there for the whole day.
Speaker 1Okay, that's cool, well done. And you played footy Friday night this time.
Speaker 2I didn't like that.
Speaker 1Why.
Speaker 2Because first they were punching us and swinging us around, that's a bit nasty.
Speaker 1That's not why you play football.
Speaker 2I think one of the players tackled one of the people and then, I think, broke his ankle too, because they smashed their ankle with their boot.
Speaker 1Oh really.
Speaker 2And I think he broke it.
Speaker 1That's nasty.
Speaker 2Yeah, the other team broke one of our teammates' ankle.
Speaker 1So some of the players on the other team were a bit dirty players.
Speaker 2Yeah, they were punching us too. They started punching me too when they were tackling me Really.
Speaker 1Yeah, that doesn't make you want to play football again when you do that stuff, when they do that stuff.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1So how many more games are you left? Do you know?
Speaker 2One.
Speaker 1This weekend? Yeah, who are you playing this weekend?
Speaker 2I don't know, but I do have for the season.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2But I do have other games. I have a day where we have to play six games that day.
Speaker 1Oh, so it's like a round robin sort of tournament.
Speaker 2You play different teams. Yeah, we play different teams, but I don't know what it is. I forgot what it was called.
Speaker 1Okay, maybe like a little gala day and is that on a weekend? Yeah, what do you mean? Like, is that still for club or is that for school Club? Does your school have a footy team? No, not enough people.
Speaker 2They do have like sports things where they do have footy and soccer.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2That you can go to, okay, but not like an actual team.
Speaker 1Oh, okay, righto, I don't think so. You've got a tournament coming up where you play round robin, play different teams coming up shortly.
Speaker 2It's not called round robin. I don't know what it's called.
Speaker 1It's usually called a gala day.
Speaker 2I think it's like something starting with Shane.
Speaker 1Shane Webke Cup.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Do you know who Shane Webke Cup? Yeah, do you know who Shane Webke was? No, he used to be a front row player for the Broncos, a very, very good player. He plays front row, like you.
Speaker 2Number 15.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, he wears number 8. He starts on the field number 8 or 10.
Speaker 2Because I used to be number 11, but now I'm number 15.
Speaker 1And when you come on the field, do you?
Speaker 2go into the front row. Are you a forward? I don't know yeah. I think you must be. I don't think we play the things, I think we just play by our numbers.
Speaker 1Okay, so there's no actual positions? Really just come in and play, oh, really Okay. Well, we still do, wingers I think, yeah, so know where to stand on the field, sort of thing. Oh, I'm glad you get to play with Shane Whippe Cup, that'll be fun, mm-hmm, put some shots on. Run some good lines, score some tries.
Speaker 2Yeah, I probably will score some tries, but I haven't scored a try this season.
Speaker 1I've scored about 10 tries against you this season At Dayborough Field, at North Lakes Field, at Caboolture. What Can't you remember?
Speaker 2Can't you remember? Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker 1I'm sure I've scored about 10 tries no, about 10 tries at your place, at Nan's place.
Speaker 2No, but it's easy. No, you haven't Haven't I no, no, you haven't.
Speaker 1Haven't I? No, do you reckon I'm just dreaming? Yeah, I'm going to score 10 tries today. Who's going to stop me?
Speaker 2I think I'm still better than you.
Speaker 1Shh, don't tell people that on the podcast I'll lose all my credibility.
Speaker 2So you're saying that You're a footy coach, aren't you?
Speaker 1Let's not talk about that. So how old are you now?
Speaker 2I'm eight.
Speaker 1So you're saying an eight-year-old can beat me in football? Yes, why are you laughing at me when you're saying that?
Speaker 2Because I'm telling the truth.
Speaker 1But why are you laughing at me? I don't know. Do you think it's funny that an eight-year-old beats a 50-year-old? I'm going to try a chip and chase today A chip and chase.
Speaker 2Do you know what that is?
Speaker 1Yes, you get your chips out and you throw them and you chase after them.
Speaker 2You chip the ball. You kick him, but you chip it and then you try and run after it and then put it down.
Speaker 1I'm going to do that today.
Speaker 2You know, because I'm going to get the ball before you do?
Speaker 1Oh, you're very competitive, aren't you? How about you do something different? How about you just let me win and make me feel good?
Speaker 2How about you go hard on me? Because I still think, if you run hard on me, I'm still going to be better than you. Oh, I always go hard on you and.
Speaker 1I still win. What are you laughing for again?
Arcade Adventures and Football Challenge
Speaker 2I'm not, you're laughing at me. You go hard on me and I still win. I'm going easy on you what?
Speaker 1You're actually going easy on me and you're still winning Pretty much. Oh my gosh, how embarrassing. This is embarrassing for me. I need to have two players.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Maybe it can be Nan and I versus you.
Speaker 2I think I'll still win.
Speaker 1I'm going to ask Nan if is she going to play for me today.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think you might need someone else and you can play with Talia.
Speaker 1You can have brother, sister love.
Speaker 2No, I think it would be 1v2. I think that would be fair.
Speaker 1All right.
Speaker 2Because I'm still going to beat you guys.
Speaker 1Very competitive. I like that, all right. Well, should we get ready and get ready for Mars? Put our suits on, we're not going to Mars. We're going to Planet Arcade. We're going to get our suits on our astronaut suit.
Speaker 2No, we're going to get ready. Where does the rocket leave from? We're not going on a rocket. We're going to the North.
Speaker 1Lakes Centre. Why would we catch a rocket to North Lakes when it's just there?
Speaker 2We're walking there.
Speaker 1I would rather catch a rocket, to be honest, Like it'd be more fun. So you crash into it, you don't have to crash you just up and down, straight down, you would land, it would break it. Yeah, true. And it would probably fall over because you need metal. Yeah, that's true. I didn't think of that.
Speaker 2For it to land. Yeah, we would probably crash the whole building too.
Speaker 1Probably put a big hole through the building, wouldn't we? Yeah, probably We'd go straight to the movie theatre. People would be watching the movie. Next thing they know a big rocket goes through the screen.
Speaker 2That would be weird and they're like cool movie.
Speaker 1Alright. So two things are going to happen today, this afternoon. One, you're going to let me beat you at Planet Arcade games and two, you're going to let me beat you in football today.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, that's not going to happen. You can get hard on me, but I'm still going to win.
Speaker 1Oh, okay. Well, on GDOM in Spokane. Next time we speak with Jeremiah, we'll give you an update of who actually won Sound good.
Speaker 2Yes, we'll give you an update of who actually won.
Speaker 1Sound good, yes.
Speaker 2All right, but when we get back, I was going to say that I won because I did I already did win.
Speaker 1Very confident, aren't you?
Speaker 2Very confident Because I know I'm already going to win. Okay, bring it on.
Speaker 1Who wins Connect Four Me? Oh, who wins Jenga?
Speaker 2Me.
Speaker 1Do I beat you at anything? You beat me in Jenga one time. That was a long time ago.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1That's it. I'm going to put on my A grade game today. Yeah that's not going to work All right. Well, should we go? Is there anything else you want to talk?
Speaker 2about no.
Speaker 1Well, well done. Opening up about the Eka Sounds like you had fun there.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1You have to wait a whole year now for it to come back.
Speaker 2Yeah, but yeah, it's still on.
Speaker 1It's still on now, yeah, and there's a little show here too, at North Lakes.
Speaker 2Yeah, there is.
Speaker 1They've got scary rides too, scarier than the Eka.
Speaker 2No, the Eka's bigger.
Speaker 1Do you know? There's one ride I wouldn't go into. I wouldn't go into the haunted house.
Speaker 2I wouldn't what At the Echo.
Speaker 1Any of them. They freak me out.
Speaker 2My mum didn't let me go in. I wanted to go in though Did you yeah? That doesn't scare you. No, I don't think haunted things scare me, you're a very brave young man.
Speaker 1All right, well, looking forward to the afternoon with you. Thanks for speaking so well again on the podcast. Yeah, and I look forward to meeting you in football very soon.
Speaker 2You're not meeting me.
Speaker 1Okay, talk to you next week.
Speaker 2Okay.
