She became an advocate through her work at with the Brain Injury Association of America with Marilyn Spivack in 1985, and for the past 33 years has dedicated her career to advancing home and community-based supports. As the founder and leader of Minds Matter, LLC, Dr. Williams has supported over 10,000 individuals with brain injuries, emphasizing independence, dignity, and recovery in the community rather than institutions. Her work focuses on aligning policy, insurance, and healthcare systems to ensure that people receive the right environment, modifications, and supports to live, work and play where they want.
