Andrew Fenton
Andrew Fenton is Professor of Philosophy at Dalhousie University, specialising in animal bioethics, neuroethics, and the philosophy of animal cognition. His research explores how scientific insights into the psychological capacities of nonhuman animals should reshape debates about knowledge, agency, consent, and the ethics of captivity, particularly in laboratory settings. He has written extensively on the ethics of scientific animal use and works to challenge Eurocentric perspectives in bioethics. Beyond animal philosophy, he has contributed to the philosophy of autism and neuroethics, engaging critically with deficit-based models and debates about human enhancement.
