SPEAKER_00:

Hey everybody.

SPEAKER_01:

Hello.

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to episode number three of Our Life as a Honeymoon.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, so in today's episode number three, we'll be discussing a few tools that we use to stay aligned, stay connected, and keep this uh relationship flowing and going with ease.

SPEAKER_00:

That's right. So get ready. Here we go. The universe brought us together.

SPEAKER_01:

That we know.

SPEAKER_00:

And together, we want to share that story with you.

SPEAKER_01:

As well as all of the practices we do to keep our relationship thriving.

SPEAKER_00:

Because to us, it feels like our life is a honeymoon.

SPEAKER_01:

We want that same joy for all of you. I'm Tim.

SPEAKER_00:

I'm Amy, and this is our podcast. Hey, so welcome back. Um, today we wanted to talk to you guys about a way that we're just really intentional in our relationship every week. Um when you are running a business, you're usually making business plans and you're intentional on the way that runs. When you're raising your children, hopefully you're giving them all your love and your effort. But I think sometimes in romantic relationships, I think it's easy to let them kind of go by the wayside to just expect that they're just gonna keep working even if we don't put the work in and like autopilot. Yeah, autopilot. And um luckily for both of us, we don't run that way. And um, so today we want to share a practice, two practices actually that we do every Sunday in our relationship that really help to keep us aligned and supportive of one another.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, yes. Um to these two tools, one was given to us um by therapist, and the other was something we kind of just came up with on our own. And um they weren't, you know, it wasn't what we were doing right off the bat. You know, this this isn't something we started, it's something that kind of evolved over time and it's still evolving, and it's just really, really powerful tools that that we're excited to share with you. Which one do you want to do first?

SPEAKER_00:

Well, I think we should go in order. Um, so every Sunday, well, if we're home, our Sundays look like this. Um, because the the kids are with their dad on the weekend, so we do have the luxury of open space and time. Um, so we usually after a good night's sleep, we wake up and we do yoga together, and then we do between an hour and hour and a half meditation time, spiritual time together, and then we talk about how that went. But that's not what we're here to talk about today. Um, but those are great tools too. Maybe that's another episode. Um, and then we get out our our planners, our calendars for the day, the uh week ahead.

SPEAKER_01:

We each have paper calendars.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

It doesn't have to be paper.

SPEAKER_00:

You can have a digital calendar, but we both like that tactile feel of the paper planner. For me, and my brain works in that way much better. So we um open them up and we each take a turn, and Monday through Sunday we talk about anything that's on our schedules so that we um are aligned because Phoenix, um, my son, he has soccer, so we need to plan who's driving him to soccer this week. The other person cooks when the first person drives to soccer.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, yes. And it really helps just helps us each gain clarity for the week rather than oh, what are you what's like what's on your agenda today? Like waking up and having to, you know, it just you do it once in the beginning of the week or the end of the week or whatever you call Sunday. And it just really helps lay out the week ahead with without any questions, and also, you know, it's just it just helps so much. And I just remember, you know, when we first started dating, it was always I just remember feeling confused a lot, and this really has helped.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah, especially when you do have kids involved in the mix. Um, and side note, not only is it helpful in our relationship, but I find it very helpful for myself because I'm not just rolling into Monday morning and being like, oh, I have all this on the docket today. Like mentally, I'm prepared for the week ahead. I know when my appointments are, I know when I'm meeting clients. You know, we we discuss all of it. I know when Tim's gonna be in therapy and not to call him at that time. Um, you know, you know when I have a listing consultation and that I'm not gonna be available at that time. So really helps our communication throughout the week.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, and if she has a doctor's appointment or I have a doctor's appointment, excuse me, and it's like I can check my calendar. Oh, yeah, Amy's about to have an appointment. I shoot her a quick text, I hope your appointment goes well, or oh, I hope your listing consultation goes well. And it just kind of helps, you know, have that noted. And so when I check my calendar and, you know, when I get to work, I can see, oh yeah, at 1030 today, or if she's having a haircut, don't want to forget that guy's out there.

SPEAKER_00:

You must remember when your partner, when your when your girlfriend, fiance, or wife gets a haircut, please notice.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_00:

That didn't go the best in the beginning, but many notices now every time.

SPEAKER_01:

One time it was now, no, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_00:

Many what ifs.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, so um and so yeah, just this calendar check, it really in so many different ways, it really creates just healthy uh just uh just another tool that we need to do.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, clarity. So so we do that, and that's actually the quicker of the two things we do. And then we go on to a practice called fans, which is we discuss our feelings, our appreciation, our needs, and our struggles. So we're gonna hold this up. This is a feelings wheel. If you would like a copy of this wheel, email us at our life is a honeymoon official. No, official, it's add on there. We're new. Our Life is a Honeymoon official at gmail.com and we can send you a copy of this feelings wheel. Um, this wheel was based on uh nope, I'm saying that incorrectly. This was created by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, and we are allowed to share it if we are not sharing for profit, and we are not. We want everybody to have this tool because whether you you're using it in a relationship or even with yourself, if you're confused about you kind of feel yucky inside, maybe um, this wheel really helps you to kind of identify. So um do you want to just go through kind of a quick version of fans and and just show people what it's like?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yes, of course. So I will start it.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, you go ahead.

SPEAKER_01:

All right, so starting with the feelings F and the fans. Try to do you know, abbreviated versions. Sometimes these can get pretty long after, you know, not talking to each other, uh or not not talking to each other, but this is a really deep check-in. Yeah, it's not it's not, oh, how was your day? You know, sometimes you can't have time to go into these things. And so this feelings wheel kind of lays it all out, all the feelings, you know, most of them, you know, and so the I'll just I'll just get started here. So just do it. So uh right now I am feeling excited for this podcast that's happening right now. You know, this is exciting.

SPEAKER_00:

This is um yeah, we've been working on this for a long time to get to this point.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I feel trusting. Uh you know, this this process has been um you know something that can have faith in that it's all gonna work out and you know it's going great. I feel loving. That's um the purple one here. I like that one. We have uh, you know, there's proud from doing all this you know, preparation to get to this moment of recording live and doing the fans on on the podcast. And there's also, you know, there's also uh it's kind of split down the middle where one side is kind of the more uh it says when your needs are being met on one side and then feelings when your needs aren't met. And so that's you know, I feel a lot of my feelings are being met, right? Or my needs are being met. And but on the other side, I will say that you know, there is a little bit of you know, just where's the word? Um self-conscious, you know, just a little bit of that, because you know, this is new to us, and so should I just keep going through it?

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, just like we do it, we do one person at a time.

SPEAKER_01:

Okay, and then for the A in fans, that's the appreciation. I'd say the appreciations I have for Amy, and this is always fun to to just give praise, and uh it's it's just a built-in like nurturing part of our week where I get to, you know, shower Amy with love and and uh so let's give a few examples.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So the examples I'll say, you know, I appreciate all the hard work that you've you've done to put into this podcast to get to this moment where we're recording and doing this, and you have such great ideas and ways of of doing it. You're just a pro at everything that you do. And I appreciate your, you know, just uh stuff you do around the house with always staying on top of laundry, with making great dinners, with you know, being a great just partner in life. And and um, yeah, so those are my appreciations.

SPEAKER_00:

Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

SPEAKER_01:

My needs um I'd say just needs can be for me personally, sometimes I don't even know what I need. It's like I'm just always thinking about other people, like what do they need? And so this is something that I over time I realized, yeah, what are my own needs? And you know, I'm a little hungry, so I say I need some food after this, and I might get some food. And um, you know, just something that we've worked on together, just helping me wake up in the morning is my second alarm clock, or you know, uh just helping me get up out of bed. It's sometimes I I struggle just uh snoozing and snoozing, and so she's uh just will kind of gently wake me up and and kind of give me some some love there. So thank you for that and um struggles. Um I just had to pay twelve hundred dollars to um Turo, which is a rental car, a car rental service. Um I ran over a tire and it did some damage to the bumper. Well, just randomly, I couldn't avoid it, you know, on the highway when I was in Chicago, um, just was last weekend. And so struggle is of just kind of being frustrated with that whole situation, and it was out of my control, but I still had to pay the money, and it was just you know unexpected. So just a little bit of financial just you know, I had the emergency saving, which was which was great, so I didn't have to just charge it. And so, yeah, those are my struggles.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay, okay. Thanks for sharing. So, as you can see, I mean that is gonna help me really understand where Tim is in life and and um how I can support him more, and um those appreciations. I mean tell me your relationship isn't gonna be great when you hear your partner praising you, like it's so healthy. So, okay, I shall take it away. Okay, so feelings wheel. Um, okay, on the when my needs aren't being met side. Well, I mean, of course I'm feeling vulnerable because we are doing something that we do intimately here live on not television, live on podcasting. Um, so yeah, I feel a little, a little vulnerable, but that's okay. Um I also feel self-confident that we're actually doing this and proud of all the hard work. This has actually been months of work to get to this point. There's a lot that goes into it. I feel courageous and brave and empowered, and I feel happy and excited, and um let's see, trusting and hopeful that you all are gonna love this and secure and confident, and I feel loving and affectionate and connected and and caring, and I feel pretty peaceful and calm. And usually I I have many more in that that phase usually um goes a little bit longer for both of us, but we we want to kind of keep it a little bit shorter. Okay, so my appreciation. I appreciate that you are such a wonderful and loving partner and that um you take the time every week to do the calendar check in the fans, and it's not something that we shove at the end of the night. Like this is like I'd say the most important thing that we do on Sundays. Like we prioritize that before we do chores, before we once in a while, if we have a date, we might have to renegotiate the time, but it's pretty much our main importance on a Sunday. Um, I appreciate all the ways that you help around the house. Um I appreciate you doing the cat boxes today and vacuuming and mopping the floors. And I appreciate that you are so willing to um drive Phoenix to soccer uh every other week and then cook dinner on the nights that I drive him. And um, I appreciate that you tickle my back every night while I fall asleep. Very, very loving and very nice. I uh have a very busy mind and I am an overly busy person. And so going to bed and just exhaling and and just being loved on like that really means a lot. So thank you, honey. Thank you. Yes. My needs. Um, I build a schedule for myself that is uh not really possible to carry out, and I sign myself up for a lot of things, and um I'm just an overdoer, and so my need is to moving forward in my life, just kind of reel it back in a little bit because um sometimes I just feel like my life is getting a little out of control and I am not allowing myself enough downtime. So so my need is to stop signing up for things, and that kind of I feel like is also the struggle. So um I have a really busy um next month or so. I'm on the board and committee for a local charity grandma's place, which is lovely and wonderful. Um, but it is taking a lot of my time, and um the luncheon is in a month from yesterday, actually. So um I guess a way that I could use support is just knowing that um, you know, this next month I'm I'm extra busy, and you know, if you see things slacking in certain areas, that would be why. And I could just use a little extra support in this month.

SPEAKER_01:

Okay. Yeah. You got it.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah. So that's an example of fans, and um, I think you can see how successfully a relationship can run. I don't know the right verbiage, but it's gonna say it's a built-in weekly just communication tool.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah, that that's not like, oh, when are we gonna do this? Should we do it on a Tuesday? I mean, sometimes we have to rearrange it, but it's always there. It's like a it's like just a a check-in with with our with each other. And you know, it's also like I when I do the feelings, it's like, all right, like how am I feeling? You know, and I it's like a check-in with myself. Yeah, because sometimes the just the week gets so busy, you know, I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm feeling really angry about this thing that I didn't really realize.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, we hold the emotions kind of we stuff them sometimes.

SPEAKER_01:

So just for example, today, I I just notice like I'm really frustrated with kind of feeling tired all the time. And you know, without the feelings wheel, I might not have really realized that because I was really like intentional about looking around the wheel, like, you know, what am I feeling? And then I like, you know, I see the word frustrated, I'm like, yeah, I actually am. Other than, you know, just naming it really does feel healthy. And and so, you know, and then Amy's like, all right, Tim's feeling, you know, like a long-term fatigueness, like let me, you know, just she that's kind of something that's in her head now.

SPEAKER_00:

Mm-hmm. Yeah. So then a way that I can support that and I need the support too, is let's get to bed at a reasonable time. I mean, that's easy, but if I don't know that he's frustrated and he doesn't know that I'm tired, and then we stay up till midnight, then we're both losing, or we can be on the same team and both focus on getting to bed on time to support each other. So yeah, I love our fans and I love you.

SPEAKER_01:

I love you too.

SPEAKER_00:

So nice. So, do you have anything else to add on these topics?

SPEAKER_01:

Um, no, just that they are very simple, but very powerful, and just the intention, the intentionality of of these tools is just it's like worth their weight in gold, in which they're free.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_01:

And so you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_00:

But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Definitely, definitely. So hopefully you will get something from this. And again, if you would like to get a copy of the feelings wheel, just email us at our life is a honeymoonofficial at gmail.com and we'll send you a copy. Very, very happy to. Um, and I'd like to suggest you you print it out so you have it handy. And um, it is a really great tool just to even, like we said, get in alignment with yourself, never mind your partner. Yeah, and the calendar checks, they really go a long way. It's just a few minutes a week that really help you to stay in alignment.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, these aren't these aren't really big things that like to do. It's it's very, very like practical and and you know, you don't need it, like you don't need anything besides the feeling wheels. And if you don't even have the feelings wheel, you you can still just do it without it.

SPEAKER_00:

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, and I would say this is probably the number one thing I think that keeps our relationship healthy.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah, because it if without without these things, like I said, things seem to kind of just drift apart and serious, like uh, you know, just having real heart-to-heart conversations every week.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah. One thing I want to add to for the the struggle section, so that is things that you're really having a hard time with. And sometimes even though we do try to be intentional, weeks get really busy. You know, we're working, there's kids involved, there's a house involved, there's pets involved. And sometimes it might not feel like the right time to sit down and kind of have a serious talk. And so we always know that obviously if it's something urgent and if we're really feeling yucky, we always make time for each other to talk. But we always know on Sundays, if it can wait, that we're gonna have a space where we're both ready and available and listening. And if we have something heavy that we really need to talk through, we know that that's available every week. And uh that feels really good.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, good point.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah, thank you. So we're gonna, you want to do a couple more would you rathers before we wrap up?

SPEAKER_01:

We'll shift into the fun part.

SPEAKER_00:

Lighthearted.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay, okay. So we um we have been doing a list of Disney Would You Rathers because we are both Disney addicts, and um so it's kind of fun to to go through these Disney Would You Rathers. So, okay, let's see. Uh, I think it's your turn now to go first, whatever. Okay, Tim, would you rather wear matching Disney outfits forever or never take another castle selfie again? What? What kind of question is this?

SPEAKER_01:

Uh can we skip that one?

SPEAKER_00:

Would you rather wear matching Disney outfits forever? I would rather wear we love wearing matching Disney outfits. Are they saying that's a bad thing?

SPEAKER_01:

I think so. That's why we like to match. It's something that Disney, um, it's like we started out just really simple. I mean, without getting too much into it, we started out really simple, just wearing just kind of random clothes, not even. When we go to Disney, not yeah, wearing and going to Disney World, we just over time it's like we just get deeper and deeper into the Disney world. And uh, you know, now we not matching like the exact same thing, but we do very similar themes. Wearing theme. Yeah, it's more of a theme than like she wears, you know, like a Mickey shirt, not have that same Mickey shirt on. You know what I mean? It's not that.

SPEAKER_00:

No, it's not that. It's I'm Bell and he's beast. Yeah. And we wear the colors associated with those. Sometimes it's like a light homage to the characters or to something Disney related, but um yeah, a third of our wardrobe, fun fact, is Disney clothing set aside for Disney trips, and we love it. Okay, well, that was a silly question. Okay, my turn um to go first. Would you rather have unlimited genie plus passes or unlimited Mickey shaped snacks? Well, we know a lot about Disney, but Genie Plus is not one of them because we're annual pass holders, so we get to go on the rides. Hmm, this is a tricky one. Or unlimited Mickey Shaped snacks. Well, at first I thought I was gonna say the snacks because that's fun, unlimited snacks, but they all have calories in them. And now when I think about unlimited genie plus, that means that we can get on the rides quicker.

SPEAKER_01:

I think that's like a lightning lane thing, but yeah it might be worded weird here. But I think that's what they mean.

SPEAKER_00:

You get on the rides quicker. I think I'm gonna pick that one. Why wouldn't I? We don't really eat that much junk food, so I don't think the snacks would go too far.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay, okay. Oh, I see a keyword in this one that I'm excited about. Okay, Tim, would you rather live at Alani in Hawaii or at the contemporary overlooking Magic Kingdom? Oh my god, that's a oh boy. Okay, you gotta think about that one.

SPEAKER_01:

Would you rather live I uh choose Alani in Hawaii?

SPEAKER_00:

Oh my god, it's so hard.

SPEAKER_01:

Because we went there in June of this last year, 2025, and it was a a hundred out of ten, and I it's you know, it's just like another planet, but in a good way, and so I choose that.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, this question hurts me. Okay, live at Alani. Alani was beautiful. I think over time we could get bored with Alani, but we um spent most of our time on that trip on the island of Kauai, so we're kind of veering off of Disney right now. I could live in Kauai and it's only a 20-minute flight, and having access to Kawaii, oh my god. So the contemporary is not one of my favorite resorts because I think it kind of looks like a Howard Johnson's, but the oh my god, honey, though, if we live there, we could just go to Disney all the time. I mean I'm gonna have to pick the contemporary overlooking Magic Kingdom because then we live at Disney.

SPEAKER_01:

We'll have to decide off camera which one we're actually gonna do.

SPEAKER_00:

Damn it all. I don't want another long distance relationship. Can we do 50 50% of the year in Hawaii? 50% that let's manifest it. Deal love deal. Okay, so thank you everybody for um tuning in to this episode of our podcast. We're so grateful for your support, really, from the bottom of our hearts.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, this is a labor of love. Yes, we uh, you know, just this is still new to us, and we are excited that you guys are here for the journey, the beginning of this journey. Um, it's only going to get better as we go.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah, we'll get a little more used to it. But um, we really do have some great content and great um just great ideas for things to share with you because we really want everybody to um have the love that we have. We have just a pure, beautiful love. And uh, if we can share anything that we've learned along our journey to make your love journey better, that would make us both so happy.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, yes. And um just the intentionality behind this podcast, behind our relationship, hopefully shows, you know, in this podcast that we uh, you know, we're we're here you know, from our hearts and and yeah, it's just uh an exciting time to uh to be here with you guys.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, absolutely. So please watch us anywhere that podcasts are streamed um or listen. I am new to everything. Listen to us where podcasts are streamed. Watch us on YouTube at Our Life is a honeymoon.

SPEAKER_00:
