The Still Point
The Real Point — How authenticity becomes the ground where self-love and truth grow
We often trade our truth for what appears beautiful the green grass on the other side. But real love—real self-respect—can only grow from the soil of what’s honest. This episode explores authenticity through Stoic and Sufi lenses, reminding us that clarity is not cruel—it’s freeing. Featuring the original poem From Reality.
hello deep thinkers you're in the right place
somewhere along the way we started trading our truths for what looked good from a distance you know the grass has always greener on the other side they say we edited ourselves curated versions of who we thought we needed to be to belong to succeed and to be loved and that love can even mean romantic love or friendship
but real love doesn't live in that edited version
real belonging it doesn't rise from the filters it comes from the raw
from the ground of reality
from what's actually there
you know the Sufis say
that truth is a mirror fallen from the sky broken into
countless pieces each of us holding a shard and each of us call to reflect a part of the whole
and that wholeness that understanding that you are part of a shared reality
is humbling it allows you to be present in a more authentic way
and when we take the totality of our existence I think about what the Stokes remind us of to live in accordance with nature to live accordance with what is not with what we wish were true
the urge is towards clarity towards simplicity towards truth no matter how inconvenient
and can be scary liberating fun interesting and educational
and truth is not comfortable it doesn't always flatter the ego it doesn't cater to the brand but it makes space for that self-respect that alignment and that peace
we spend so much money and energy trying to hold an image but what if the most thing is what you are when you let go of that need to be seen
there's a quiet kind of power in saying this is who I am
no costume no cleverness just clarity not polished but real and in the soil in that dirt
love can actually grow as a reminder not that performative love not transactional but something rooted inside
of something home
this poem is a return to that soil
the place where we love and
self-meat
not in the image but in the real
from reality
if you hope to close what you love grab truths colors
let authenticity prove in the space of the real self love finds ground
genuine bonds to authenticity or fueled don't fear the facade
fading in light's reveal
outward love thrives in the soil of what we call
real
through it all
authenticity is its own reward
so allow your authentic self a chance to speak but also allow yourself a chance to listen you don't have to perform your way into love you only have to stand in your truth
this has been the still point until next time stay honest stay grounded
and root yourself. And what is real
