The Still Point
The Blank Page Point — A reflection on creative block, searching for spark, and showing up
Episode 10 of The Still Point goes into the quiet pursuit of inspiration. Drawing from Stoic and Sufi wisdom, we explore how the act of seeking can lead us back to ourselves. Through poetic contemplation, we find that sometimes, the search is the destination.
Hello deep thinkers, you're in the right place.
Some days, inspiration feels elusive, we search for it in all the usual places and some unusual places as well.
We
look
everywhere in all of the externals, we try to find it in other people, we try to find it in the scenes around us, we find it in our routines and we look for it in our screens, our thoughts when we left to our own devices.
But at times that inspiration remains hidden, we're turning over
stones, memories, hoping
to uncover something new, something raw, and often we only find the familiar
and sometimes we find the trauma.
Cenica on a sad
loneliness is not being alone, but being empty. You see in our quest for inspiration,
maybe it's not about seeking more, but it could be about being present with what is.
Roomie tells us,
"Do not feel lonely, the entire universe is inside you.
Maybe the inspiration that we're looking for isn't out there somewhere. Maybe it's not in the external, maybe just within us,
willing to be acknowledged."
So we turn over stones, not to find something new, but to see ourselves reflected in the ordinary moments.
This haiku
captures that quiet search,
turning over stones,
looking for inspiration
on a blank paper.
Those are the actions of searching, the thrill of the chase,
is itself
the inspiration.
This has been the still point.
Until next time, stay curious, stay open,
and trust the process
