Ever wondered if your business idea actually came from God? Or maybe you've questioned whether Christians can truly pursue wealth while honoring their faith? You're not alone.

Today's episode dives deep into the five most-asked questions from Christian entrepreneurs trying to navigate the intersection of faith and business. Whether you're just starting out or scaling your kingdom business, these practical insights will help you move forward with confidence.

We begin by exploring how to discern if a business concept is divinely inspired, providing clear biblical parameters while encouraging you to trust what God has deposited in your heart. Next, we tackle the often-complicated relationship between faith and finances, challenging the notion that prosperity contradicts Christian values. Using examples of biblical figures who managed enormous wealth, Coach Martin makes a compelling case for abundance as part of God's plan for believers who seek to leave legacies for generations.

For those who struggle with marketing, we reframe the entire concept—showing how sharing your God-given solutions becomes an act of service rather than self-promotion. The fear of failure that paralyzes so many entrepreneurs gets completely turned on its head with a perspective shift that will transform how you approach business challenges. Finally, we explore why mentorship is non-negotiable for Christian business owners, revealing how the right guidance accelerates your journey to impact and abundance.

This podcast will start in 3, 2, 1.

Speaker 2

Hey everybody, welcome to the Coach Martin Show. I'm your host, coach Martin, definitely excited about today's podcast. So periodically we'll get questions from our listeners out there and then, ultimately, we'll take a special episode. And we'll get questions from our listeners out there and then ultimately, we'll take a special episode and we'll kind of go through those. So this episode we're going to go through five. Now they're not in any order, it's kind of random, so it's not like the first one is the most important, but we're going to go five questions that we got from our actual listeners on um, um, you know why they should be starting a business, right? So these are super cool, super important.

Is My Business Idea From God?

Balancing Faith and Finances

Speaker 2

But number one, I'm going to start here. So the question we got is how do I know if this business idea is from God? So it's actually a great question. Now, maybe if you talk to a couple of different people, you might get a couple of different answers, but I think I'm going to give you a good one and I'm going to give you a couple of things to look at. So, number one you're going to want to make sure that it aligns with the word. So if you have a business idea that's been dropped in your heart and you know it is something that is not in line with what God says, or maybe it's actually maybe in a field where it's actually sin I would tell you that that's definitely not from God, right? So that's going to be, first and foremost, make sure it aligns with what the word, with what the word says. Secondly, I would tell you that if the answer is yes, it does align. You know, it's not a, it's not a sinful, you know product, service or idea. I would tell you that. You know, ultimately, it was probably God that deposited that in your heart. So, really think about that. Obviously, go to counsel, you know, spend time praying about it. But you know, if you feel like, hey, you know God deposited this idea in my heart, you know it's, you know there's nothing wrong with it as far as from a word standpoint, then I would tell you, you know, go for it Absolutely so. Number two, second question we get, we got is you know how do I balance my faith and my finances? So this is actually a good question and I'm gonna do a sub question on this as well.

Speaker 2

So, truthfully, you shouldn't be to the point where you're struggling with. You know how much do I put aside or how much do I give? You really should, because ultimately, what happens is you're going to be a giver based off how you are. So, in my opinion, the closer you get to the Lord, the stronger your walk is with him. You're going to want to be able to do things. You're going to want to be able to tithe. You're going to get excited about that. You're going to want to be able to help people. That's the whole purpose of business anyway. So I think that you know the closer we get to God, the stronger it is that we want to serve God not just with our life and not just with our time on Sunday. We want to serve him all the time and we want to serve him with our finances. So if you're struggling and you're asking yourself, oh you know, every time I write that tithe check, you know it's kind of like eat me away a little bit, man you're going to want to take that to God, because God wants you to do everything with a cheerful heart and he wants people to be cheerful givers. So I want you to think about that.

Speaker 2

Now I'm going to do a sub-question on this, because we get this every once in a while. So the question is is it okay to make a lot of money? So this is interesting because I know that. You know, I've talked to Christian men that have kind of debated me on this and I will tell you that, 100%, you know, in the kingdom, god wants you to be prosperous, he wants you to be able to be fruitful. You're a child of the king, so he wants you to be able to operate in abundance and that's the benefit of it. And when you look at the wisest man in the world, king Solomon, or even look at his dad, david, do a search one day, do a study on him, the amount of money that they generated, the amount of money they used for the temple. So I would tell you that, yes, your father wants you to live your life and walk in abundance, and God's called you and I to leave an inheritance to our children's children. You can't do that if you're poor. So that's what I got for question number two.

Marketing Without Being Pushy

Speaker 2

So number three how do I market without being too pushy? So I would tell you so, if you're thinking of that honestly, you're going to have to remove that, because here's the deal being in business and selling, you know, your product, service or idea to potential people that need it. You're going to have to, like you know and I'm not talking about being annoying, but you're going to have to be comfortable being uncomfortable, sharing your stuff wherever you go. Especially if you believe in all your heart that you have a product, service or idea that can really help somebody, you're going to want to share it. You're going to be persistent. The Bible says that persistence is man's precious possession. So you're going to want to make sure that you are persistent. I'm not talking about being annoying, but you're going to want to be persistent, like you know, and you're going to want to develop that muscle. So be persistent in what it is that God put in your heart share with people. And if you, you know, if you get some people that are turned off about it, you know at the end of the day, that's going to happen. So don't worry about that. If you believe in what you got, don't hesitate to share it, and I would tell you, share it often.

Finding Faith-Aligned Mentors

Speaker 2

Okay, number four. So this is an interesting one. What if I fail? Well, you kind of already have right. I'm not talking about a life. I'm saying, if your goal is to start a business, to do X and acquire you know Z amount of money. Well, you've already failed in that, so you got nothing to lose, right? I would ask yourself a second question of what will it be like when you win? So get rid of the. What if I fail and replace it with what's it going to be like when I win? What's it going to be like when my business brings in X amount of dollars per year? How many people am I going to be like when I win? What's it going to be like when my business brings in X amount of dollars per year? How many people am I going to be able to serve, because now I'm operating in abundance, right, and not scarcity? So change the way you look at things and start asking yourself different questions. Five where can I find faith? That a lot you know. Or where can I find faith? Aligned mentors? Or even maybe community? Uh, communities, um, you know, in my area, or anywhere? So this is a great question. So I'm going to tell you that.

Speaker 2

Listen, we all need mentors. Everybody needs it. I don't care what level you are. You need mentors, right? Look at like you know great men in the Bible. They all had mentors. I mean I even look at like you know Moses, right. Look at like you know great men in the Bible. They all had mentors. I mean, I even look at like you know Moses, right. Moses had a mentor Joshua. Moses was Joshua's mentor.

Speaker 2

So we all need mentors. We need people that are going to be able to help us, people that can kind of see in the shadows that we're not able to see. People that are going to, you know, tell us when we need to pick up the pace. People that are going to tell us when maybe we're doing something that we shouldn't be doing. We need mentors in your life because here's the deal you only know what you know and, based off what you know, has gotten you to where you are right now. So if you're good with where you are right now, I would say just keep doing what you're doing. But if there's another level that you're trying to get, to make sure you get a mentor, get people, and it should never be one. You're going to want to have multiple mentors that you learn from and ultimately, what it'll do is it'll help you scale up and scale up, and the more you get in you, the more you can help other people get to where they're trying to get to Now. I hope these are great things.
