Today we meet one of the most beloved wonderworkers of the Orthodox Church: Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, also known as Spyridon the Wonderworker. Born around 270 AD on the island of Cyprus and reposing in 348 AD, this simple shepherd rose to become bishop of Trimythous, defended Orthodoxy at the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, and performed countless miracles of healing, provision, and protection. His relics remain incorrupt to this day on the island of Corfu, where he is the beloved patron saint, still actively interceding for the faithful.
