Hello, beautiful souls and welcome to the Live Tea Podcast where science meets soul and your healing happens in full color. I'm your host, Dr. Sabina Clark, Dr of Acupuncture, creator of Live Tea Academy Wellness Educator. Neuroscience enthusiast and your personal doctors Sunshine. Today's episode is near and dear to my heart because it's kind of my story too. We are talking about that busy mind, the brilliant but overwhelmed brain, the world of A DHD and highly sensitive people, and how can we shift from chaos to calm with understanding tools and compassion? So whether you are neurodivergent sensitive, creative, constantly sinking or easily overstimulated, this one is for you. Let me take it back a little for years. Actually, no decades. I thought something was wrong with me. Too sensitive, too emotional, mind racing, 200 miles an hour, then crashing from mental overload, struggling to focus on the boring stuff, but hyper fixated on ideas that lit me up. And then they came the diagnosis A D, H, D as an adult. Hmm. A thousand puzzle pieces finally clicked into place. I realized I had never been broken. I had just never been understood, not even by myself, and that's why I'm sharing this because maybe you just, maybe that's you too. So let's get a little bit nerdy for a moment. So the A DHD brain isn't deficient, it's wired for novelty, stimulation, creativity, and deep empathy, but. Without support. It can feel like a vervet of overthinking, emotional dysregulation, focus problems, burnout, social anxiety, sleep issues, and guilt. Yeah, so much guilt. Now, combine that. With being a highly sensitive person, someone who picks on subtle cues, emotions, energy shifts and feels everything deeper. Everything deeply, and whoa, that's a lot. It's like having a brain that's a Formula one engine, but has no brakes. But here is actually. It's the good news. You can learn to drive that car. You don't need to be fixed. You need tools. Here are a few I use personally and I also teach in Live in Tea Academy acupressure. Try pressing Ying Tang. What is the point between your eyebrows for 30 seconds while breathing slowly? It's like a pause button for your brain. Mini stretches and body shakes during work that helps to break up and discharge the energy and regulate the nervous system. Nutrition, protein and healthy fats are for brain stability. Avoid sugar crushes and keep hydration steady. That's a big thing, like being dehydrated is not good for the brain. Focus, batching work in short structured sprints, like 25 minutes of a flow, five minutes of movement and repeat 25 minutes of flow, five minutes, movement, two five minutes flow, five minutes movement, and repeat. Well, and then the sensory support. So noise canceling headphones are my lifesaver. you should get some soft textures. Warm tea. Yes. These things matter when your system runs on high input. And then set yourself reminders. Let your phone be smart for you. Let get up. Okay, now you're up. Have alarms every 15, 20 minutes when you have to get ready, so you know you are. Out of the shower. That's what I'm doing. I have an alarm who tells me, you better be out of the shower. I have an alarm who tells me you better be dressed and tells me to better be out of the house. Now you better sit in the car. So my husband goes crazy. But these alarms help me to navigate my life so I'm not getting distracted and oh, there's a butterfly. Well, and then most importantly, I. Self-compassion. Say it with me. I am not lazy. I'm learning how I work, how my body and brain is functioning. Be kind to it and just learn to navigate around it. So then let's take a moment to actually calm this world. Wherever you are, breath. Imagine your salts like leaves floating down a river. You don't have to grab'em. Just notice and let them pass. And then whisper to yourself, I am safe to slow down. I'm allowed to rest. I'm doing enough. Let the nervous system exhale. That's, that's the beginning of focus. That's the spark of clarity you have been craving. So here's what I want you to remember. Beautiful mind you are. Not too much. You are not disordered. You are wired for wonder. Yes, you may need structure. Yes, you may get overwhelmed. I. But that's because your brain is so powerful and it's asking for support, not shame. In a world designed for sameness, your brilliance is a gift. And healing isn't about changing who you are. It's about learning how you work best. If today's episode felt like a warm heart to your nervous system, share it with a fellow neurodivergent soul. You are not alone.
