Hello my beautiful souls and welcome back to Living the Levity Way. I'm your Dr. Sunshine, and today we are going to talk about something most people don't think about until they are suddenly feel it. Stiffness. You're like, okay, Dr. Clark, what the heck is going on now? That feeling of being creaky when you get out of bed or the way your back protests after sitting too long, like after long car ride or plane ride, or when you work all day at the desk. Or you know how you feel like you need a grain to get up from the floor? Most people assume stiffness just comes with eight, but let me tell you my loves, this is a myth. Stiffness is not mandatory. Flexibility and flow are absolutely possible. Well, at any age. Yeah, and the key player in all of this is a little something called fascia, and no, that's not a fancy Italian pasta fascia is your body's magically connective tissue that makes the difference between moving like a stiff robot or moving like a radiant, sparkly goddess. And here's the nerd sparkly here. Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, bone, and organ. Think of it like a 3D spider wep that holds you together when fascia is hydrated, elastic, and cared for. Oh well, you will move with ease, with flow and grace when it gets dry, sticky and tight. Oh well. Hello, stiffness, pain and Injuries science now shows that fascia responds beautifully to movement, hydration, breath. Yes, I'm seeing it again. Breathe, and even vibration, which means you can literally retrain your fascia to stay subtle and sparkly no matter. Your age, so let's get real stiffness sneaks up in little ways. I know that you reach for your shoes and groan, you twist to crap and something in the car and feel like your spine filed a complaint. Or maybe you realize you're not bending and flowing like you used to. Well, here's the good news. It's not a life sentence. I've seen people in their sixties, seventies, and even eighties regain flexibility. They thought it was gone forever, but simply learning how to work with the fascia, it's never too late to flow again. Here are a few little habits to keep your fascia happy again. Hydrate. Yes. And with water, not with coffee or vine. Fascia loves water. Sip throughout the day. Stretch and release. Like yoga, Pilates, and gentle fascia stretching. Keep the webs elastic. You don't need to run a marathon. You don't need to go to the most, um, pretzel yoga class. You can do some exercises at your comfort of your home. Movement snacks, right? Don't just sit for hours, move every 30 minutes, even if it's a little wiggle and rolling. Rolling foam rollers, therapy balls, or even a tennis ball under your feet can release tight spots. And here I come again. Breathe. Deep breathing pumps fluid through fascia. Yes, you heard that right? Your breath hydrates your tissues. That's why I'm so after you with that. And then there are fascia releasing massages and entomology. What I have in my Florida office works fantastic for that. So think of fascia like. Silk. The more you care for it, oh, the more it flows. Let's try a quick practice together. Stand up if you can. Obviously not when you're driving. Stretch your arms up over your head, interlace your fingers and lean gently side to side. Breathe deeply. Best done when you connected with your breath. You go breathing in, in the middle. You breathe out. Lean to the side. You breathe in, go back to the middle, and you breathe out. Bend to the other side. Just gently lean. Feel the stretch breathing into the middle now. Now roll your shoulders back. Open your chest. Ah, that feels good. Wiggle with your fingers and let your body move however it wants. Slow flowing and playful. Feel that, huh? That's your fascia saying, thank you. So here is the truth of the day. Stiffness is optimal. Flexibility is drainable. You got that. Fascia is the secret ingredient that keeps you radiant at every age. Remember as you're Dr. Sunshine, I'm here to remind you. Don't forget your sunshine was in. And don't forget, your body was designed to move and don't you dare to forget. Flow is your forever birthright. Until next time, stretch with love, priest with sparkle and flows through life.
