Hello, my beautiful, beautiful soul and welcome back and welcome deeper. If you are listening to this episode, there's a good chance you have already done a lot of. Inner work, you have reflected, you have read, you have connected dots, you have had moments of clarity that felt powerful and true, and yet something still happens. A familiar reaction shows up an old pattern, reappears your body responds before you can stop it. And the thought creeps in. Why do I still react like this? If I understand it so well today, I want to answer that question with honesty. Compassion. And relief because the short answer is insight changes the mind, but healing happens in the nervous system, and those two don't always move at the same speed. Many of us we're taught directly or indirectly, that once we understand something, we should be able to change it. That awareness equals mastery. Not knowing better means doing better. That insight should override reaction well, but the nervous system, it doesn't work that way. Your body does not respond to information. It responds to perceived safety, so you can understand your pattern perfectly. And still react automatically when your nervous system sends a threat. That doesn't mean inside failed. It means inside hasn't reached the body yet The nervous system evolved to protect us. It scans for danger constantly faster than conscious thought. By the time you notice a reaction, you, your body has already decided, is it safe? Is it familiar? Do I need to brace, fix, flee, or freeze? Others happens in milliseconds. So when people say, I don't know why I reacted that way, I knew better. What they're really saying is, my nervous system acted before my awareness could intervene. And that's not weakness. Nope. That's biology. And here's something I see often, and it's important to name it. When people gain insight but don't yet have regulation, they often turn that awareness against themself. They think. I should be past this. I know where this comes from. Why am I still doing this? And this creates a second layer of suffering. Shame on top of activation. That's crazy, but so real. But shame doesn't regulate the nervous system. Safety does. And safety is learned, learned through experience, and not explanation. True change happens when the body has new reference points, not when it's told it's safe, but when it feels safe. This has happens through slow pacing, consistent presence. Boundaries that hold relationships, that repair, And moments where the body expects danger and it doesn't come. These moments may seem small, but to the nervous system. They are revolutionary. Each one says, oh, this is different. I survived without prac, I didn't abandon myself and nothing bad happened. That's how pattern begin to loosen Inside can arrive in an instant. Regulation takes repetition. The nervous system learns rhythm, not revelation. So if healing feels slower than understanding, that's not a problem, I promise. That's how the body protects itself from overwhelm. You are not meant to rewire survival patterns overnight. You are meant to build safety gradually. So the changes last. This is important. When an old reaction shows up, the work is not corrected. The work is to respond after it happens with curiosity, with kindness, with regulation. Instead of asking, what's wrong with me, try asking, what did my nervous system just protect me from? Not question keeps the body included, not punished. And inclusion is what allows integration. So before we close, take a deep breath with me. Let your body soften even just slightly, and hear this clearly. You don't heal by becoming more self-aware, you heal by becoming more self safe. Insight open the door regulation allows you to walk through it and you are already on that path. And as you, Dr. Sunshine, I will leave you with this if you understand your patterns, but still. Feel them. It doesn't mean you are stuck. It means your body is learning at its own wise pace and that pace is not wrong. Shine gently. Your nervous system is catching up and that's real healing. This work doesn't end with a podcast, you know, healing rarely does. And if you like to learn a little more deeply so practices, teachings, and guided experiences, you are welcome to visit Live Academy.
