Hi there and welcome to the Villa Bodcast. You're on the go audio hub for smarter crop protection.

Just a heads up. This episode is voiced by AI, which means it might get a little creative with pronunciations now and then. But don't worry, all the facts have been carefully checked by our Villa experts for accuracy.

That means you get reliable, expert backed information anytime, anywhere.

Today we are taking a look at MASTERLOCK®, what it does, how to use it and where it shines. Let's get into it. MASTERLOCK® is a smart adjuvant solution built for permanent crops. It enhances the performance of your fungicides, insecticides and PGRs by helping more droplets hit and stay where they matter most on the target. Its formulation is based on modified vegetable oil and non ionic surfactants, delivering 889g/l of active ingredient.

It's registered under Act 36 of 1947, registered number L10496, which means it's gone through the tests and trials to earn its place in your spray program. MASTERLOCK® is designed for orchard and permanent crops, including citrus, pome and stone fruit, tree nuts, avocados, mangoes, litchis and grapes. It's not intended for row crops, so if you're farming maize or soya, this one's not for you.

The dosage rate ranges from 20 to 100ml per 100l of water. The sweet spot depends on the crop type, spray volume, canopy density, and weather conditions. Always stick to label instructions and match the rate to your specific situation. If you're not sure, call your Villa representative. They'll give you tailored advice. What does it actually do in the tank?

MASTERLOCK® improves your spray mix by reducing droplet bounce so spray stays on the leaf, increasing spread so more surface gets covered. Boosting canopy penetration, especially important in dense orchards and minimizing drift and evaporation so less product gets lost. It gives your pesticides and PGRs the best possible shot of success. Whether you're spraying for thrips, black spot, mealybugs, or trying to thin fruit or manage growth, MASTERLOCK® helps your actives reach the zone where they work best.

What about aerial spraying? Yes, MASTERLOCK® is aerial ready. When used at 0.5% or higher it fine tunes droplet size, reducing both very small and very large droplets. That means less drift, more uniform coverage, and higher deposition where it matters. Here's a quick checklist for successful mixing. One. Use only clean water. No muddy, mineral-heavy or contaminated water.

Two, shake MASTERLOCK® well before use. Three, always add buffers first, then pesticides, and only after that add MASTERLOCK®. Four, never mix it with other surfactants or oil adjuvants. MASTERLOCK® already does that job. Five, keep the tank agitated and don't leave the mix overnight. Six, when in doubt, do a small scale test mix first. MASTERLOCK® is registered for use with most fungicides and insecticides that are commonly applied to high value orchard crops.

That includes actives from groups such as benzimidazoles, triazoles, strobilurins, phosphonates, neonicotinoids, carbonates, organophosphates, and more. It also works well with plant growth regulators like gibberellins and cytokinins. Always confirm compatibility with the specific product label or contact your Villa representative. A few extras worth knowing: it is packed in 10L containers. It replaces many oil adjuvants or surfactants.

It's proven to reduce residue risks when used as directed. Important when your crops are heading to export. It's necessary to take note of the following safety precautions. MASTERLOCK® is low risk but not risk free. It can irritate the eyes and is harmful if inhaled, so wear gloves. Don't eat, drink or smoke while mixing. Triple rinse the container after use.

Dispose of it through a registered recycler. Don't burn or bury it. So whether you're working with a tight spray window, managing resistance, or looking to cut waste, MASTERLOCK® helps you spray smarter. It's reliable, it's tested, and it's there to make your crop protection work harder for you, your farm and your future.
