Money may not buy happiness...

…but it can apparently buy iced coffee, concert tickets, a cart full of things you absolutely didn't need, and the overwhelming confidence that this paycheck is finally the one where you'll start budgeting.

This week on Twin Tangents, Anthony and Nalee tackle one of life's most complicated relationships: the one between us and our bank accounts. From retail therapy and "girl math" to financial guilt, rising costs, and the emotional roller coaster of spending money, they unpack why money affects so much more than just our wallets.

👉 Audio listeners: if you want to witness the facial expressions, self-inflicted financial confessions, and the exact moment both hosts realize they're personally attacking themselves... head over to YouTube.

We're talking:

💳 Retail therapy & impulse spending → Does buying yourself something nice actually make you happier... or just temporarily distract you from checking your bank account?

🛍️ Buy now, panic later → Klarna, Afterpay, PayPal Credit, and how easy it is to accidentally finance an entire personality.

💰 The payday delusion → Why every paycheck convinces us we're suddenly rich... until rent remembers we exist.

📈 The rising cost of simply existing → Groceries. Housing. Gas. Entertainment. Why surviving in today's economy feels like a subscription service nobody signed up for.

😬 Buyer's remorse & money guilt → Why spending money on yourself can somehow feel exciting... and deeply regrettable at exactly the same time.

🎟️ Experiences vs. possessions → When is spending money actually worth it? Travel, concerts, memories, hobbies, and learning the difference between treating yourself and avoiding your problems.

📱 The comparison economy → Social media makes everyone look wealthy. Reality usually includes credit cards, spreadsheets, and pretending not to check your balance.

❤️ Can money buy happiness? → Maybe not. But financial security, peace of mind, and the ability to say "yes" to the people and experiences you love certainly count for something.

😂 Classic Twin Tangents chaos → Questionable financial advice, aggressive self-awareness, spending justifications that somehow make perfect sense in the moment, and enough relatable stories to make you feel significantly better about your own Amazon history.

Somewhere between the shopping carts, credit card statements, and "it's only twenty bucks" mentality...

...we realized money isn't really the point.

It's what we do with it, why we spend it, and whether we're chasing temporary dopamine or building a life that actually feels fulfilling.

Quick disclaimer: This episode contains questionable budgeting strategies, retail therapy, emotional spending, unnecessary purchases, absolutely zero financial credentials, and enough sarcasm to make your accountant nervous.

We're not financial advisors.

We're just trying to survive until the next payday.

🎙️ Motto of the week:

Treat yourself.

Save what you can.

And remember...

Just because it was 50% off doesn't mean you saved money if you weren't planning to buy it in the first place.

Welcome And Money Vanishes

NALEE

This is the bubble that you gave me now breaking in.

ANTHONY

Oh, that's funny. Why? Because I gave that to you like three days ago. Two days ago.

NALEE

All right. Welcome back to Twin Tangents, where our bank accounts are humble as fuck.

ANTHONY

But our opinions are financially irresponsible.

NALEE

And today we're talking about everyone's favorite source of stress. Money, money, money, money.

ANTHONY

Show me the money. Just kidding. But specifically, why it disappears the second it hits our bank account.

NALEE

We're absolutely not financial experts. Y'all know we have our MDA, BMW, LSD, LSD degree in like mental health. But not about money, baby. Not about money.

ANTHONY

I ain't no shit about money. Nothing. Nada nunca. But we are experts at saying it's only 20 bucks. 12 times in a weekend.

NALEE

So if you've ever justified a purchase because it was on sale.

ANTHONY

Or convinced yourself that ordering food is technically meal prepping.

NALEE

I mean, technically it is, but this episode is for you.

ANTHONY

It can be. You're right. This is our gift to the viewers and listeners. Let's start with the delusion. Spending money like we're rich.

NALEE

Because financially, we are definitely living in a fantasy.

ANTHONY

Somewhere between I should save money and add to cart. Click, click. Period.

NALEE

Every payday I become a completely different person with terrible ideas. And low-key, this is so true because like the moment the money hits the bank, I'm like, bitch, I'm rich. Let's get that steak. Let's get that filling out. I was gonna say it's like No McDonald's today. Fill it, it is.

ANTHONY

It's like the moment it hits the

Paycheck Fantasy Kicks In

ANTHONY

bank is the moment it leaves the bank. In one minute, out the next.

NALEE

Literally, which is really sad.

ANTHONY

But it's so sad.

NALEE

You know what? You only live once and you gotta spoil yourself sometimes.

ANTHONY

Exactly. Treat yourself.

NALEE

Treat yourself. Yes. That's a good way to segue into my first topic, which is retail therapy actually working for like about six months, and then you become real fucking broke. And I'm gonna tie into my other my second topic with this too, which is the fact that like a lot of the places that I like shopping has Klarna, afterpay, or the buy now, pay later kind of thing. Child, affirm. Yeah, yeah. Amazon gets me every time. Shein gets me every fucking time. It's like stacks on stacks on stacks of like orders where I'm like, oh, I I can afford this. I can make it to four payments of $300.

ANTHONY

I guess it sounds so bad, and I'm sure that our listeners and viewers right now are like, y'all are fucking stupid because that's just you're just taking out a loan. I'm like, yeah, we may be taking out a loan, but we got small payments, interest free for the first six months, whatever, maybe credit, no credit reports, it's free.

NALEE

And low-key, that's how they get you. It's just like literally, Shein gets me every time. I'm not gonna lie, like I haven't bought an order from them from a long time because obviously, you know, like my weight has been fluctuating, but I'm gonna be putting in a big order soon. But that bitch came out to like a grand and it said, Do you want to split this to four payments? Baby, I do.

SPEAKER_00

You know I do.

NALEE

Click, click, exactly.

ANTHONY

Enter my phone number. Here y'all are confirmation code. Bing bong. Exactly.

NALEE

Bing bong, bitch. Bing bong. But it gets me every time. It gets me every time.

ANTHONY

Do you ever have that's it? Do you ever have buyer's remorse?

NALEE

All the time. Literally, I have buyer's remorse with everything. Like, if I buy, I don't know, McDonald's, I'd be like, you dumb bitch, there was food at home. Or if I buy a shoe that I've been wanting for a long time, like you got 10. Matter of fact, you got 20. Why are you buying a new one? With clothes though?

ANTHONY

Because it's not 21.

NALEE

Yeah, I feel like I feel like with the new clothes though that I'm buying and stuff from places, I don't feel as bad because none of my shit fits me. Like, it's this is side tangent, but then like Pali and I, you know, we're we're we live together. And again, I am like I'm decluttering from a whole ass house into like my small ass room. And mind you, when I was living in the house, I had three closets full of my just my clothes. Now it's condensed. Now it's cut no legit. Now it's condensed into like two shelves, like one side and the other. And it does it's not even full. That's how much I like downsized and how much I donated. And then on top of that, this clothes that I currently do have, like more than half of it doesn't even fit me anymore either. So then, you know, I have to like downsize even more. And so then I think by the time, yeah, by the time it comes down to it, I probably won't have buyer's remorse, but I'd be like, did I really need this dress though? Yeah, I did. But yeah.

ANTHONY

Okay. I'm gonna stand in your corner right now and I'm gonna defend you on a basis of when it comes to clothes, I feel like you're entitled to them and you're entitled to making that purchase, especially when you and I were having, you know, this weight loss.

NALEE

Yeah, period.

ANTHONY

I'm sorry, but that XL shirt don't fit me no more. So what am I under? I'm like, bye.

NALEE

Skinny Mini over there.

ANTHONY

Exactly. Skinny Mini right here.

NALEE

Yeah, right here. But yeah, it gets me every time. Which

Buy Now Pay Later Logic]

NALEE

low key though, I'm kind of thankful for that. Like, wait, which part?

ANTHONY

Are we talking about the buy now pay later?

NALEE

Yeah, like the car now or like the afterpay thing. I am very grateful for that because obviously I got a hundred grand to like pull up right now, but I probably do have a fourth of that and I am gonna pay it. And you know?

ANTHONY

And so I'm gonna stand in your corner and I'm gonna defend you on this. The best thing about that is like if you don't have the money and what you want to buy is on sale right then and there, maybe the sale ends at midnight. Yeah. Why why the fuck not? If it's already like 200 bucks off or 20% off, like okay, so I can pay using Klarna and spend $100 and save that 20% off, or I can wait till I get paid and I have the 100% and now it's 20% more. So am I gonna pay four payments of $25 totaling up to $100? Or am I gonna pay $100 and what is it, $120?

NALEE

I do a math right now. I'm thinking about you doing bent neck leading.

ANTHONY

I can't think.

NALEE

Exactly, exactly.

ANTHONY

But no, I mean, seriously though, if like if that's what it boils down to is having to split up the payments so that you can get it right then and there. Why the hell not? Treat yourself.

NALEE

Treat yourself, boo. You deserve it.

ANTHONY

Exactly.

NALEE

Exactly. Summer's coming. We out for the streets this summer. Look cute. You got an outfit that you've been really, really wanting? Get it. If it looks luddy, even better. If it's tight, you go, girl.

ANTHONY

Get it, get it.

NALEE

Get it. But I support you.

ANTHONY

I support you.

NALEE

Thank you. But then again, on the flip side, like sometimes I know that I can get a little crazy with retail therapy. Because I feel like all I've been doing is fucking buying pose, though. And y'all know, if you know me really well, like I have a specific sense of style. And slutty. No. Well, yeah.

ANTHONY

Kind of depending on the event she's shopping for.

NALEE

But then I could I could go looking homeless to like looking like a nice piece of ass. I will give you that. Like I know how to switch it up a little bit. But then I feel like I'm a little bit I am low-key, a little bit on the bougie side. So I do buy clothes of quality.

ANTHONY

So she's talking about buying things from Sheen. And all the clothes I bought from Sheen, I got to wear like twice.

NALEE

Well, Sheen is different because Sheen, it's like, it's just summer dresses and stuff like that.

ANTHONY

You are a woman of quality.

NALEE

But when it comes to like, I guess, yeah, I guess it doesn't you get yeah. When it comes to like undergarment and stuff, quality is what I'm talking about. And to me, like the best way that I treat myself, it isn't buying clothes, it's undergarment. Like it has to be bougie undergarment. Like, you know how like you buy those silk pajamas? Yeah. That's my level of like spoiling myself in retail therapy. Like, bitch, you ain't wearing no, you ain't uh, what is it? We ain't no regular mom, we're a cool mom over here. We buy the cool stuff. We buy the quality stuff, you know?

ANTHONY

I feel like that's fair. That's one thing I okay. So speaking of Sheen, I'm I'm gonna do it. Oh God, say it with my chest. So one thing that I really I can't believe I'm putting this out there. Oh my god. One thing that I really enjoy, speaking of undergarments, is I like this sounds so bad, sexy underwear. And yes, there are sexy underwear for men.

NALEE

Yes. Okay.

ANTHONY

And so I really enjoy a nice pair of sexy underwear. And okay, maybe this is opposite of what you said, because I got them from Sheen, but I went through all like the men's underwear in Sheen, and there's some.

NALEE

They have some good stuff though. I'm not gonna lie.

ANTHONY

Although it is They have decent looking stuff, but it's like you get to wear it once or twice, and then it's like throw it in the garbage. But at those prices, flat on the shelf. You can't really beat that because I let me there used to be a website that I used to shop to buy my underwear at, and it was called cheapundies.com. Cute. Okay. And they have like name brand underwear, and you would be able to buy the name brand underwear. It was probably like I could get a pair of underwear for like seven bucks or twelve bucks. Which if you think about it, that's a lot of money. $12 for a pair of underwear.

NALEE

The fuck get the three-pack for $5.

ANTHONY

Off a sheen, right?

NALEE

Walmart.

ANTHONY

I've never been able to get a three-pack of underwear from Walmart for $12. Even at Walmart, it's like it's insane the price. I can't lie.

NALEE

Maybe it's not $7. It's $12 for a three-pack of thong. I don't fucking know.

ANTHONY

For women, maybe. I feel like women's clothing is cheaper because there's more variety that they give you and they know that you'll buy more stuff because of the variety. So they make it up.

NALEE

And men don't really buy clothes and they do like they wear it until that shit rips. You know what I mean?

ANTHONY

Yeah. Well, I don't.

NALEE

With girls, with girls, it's like, oh, I wore it for three months. Yeah, throw it out. New ones. I mean, I don't know about other people, but that's kind of me. Like, if I wear it past a certain amount of time, I'd be like, okay, this one's old. I need to get a new one or something. You know what I mean?

ANTHONY

Yeah.

NALEE

I don't know. But yeah.

ANTHONY

But yeah, anyway, I treated myself. I s I spent way more money than I should have on sexy underwear.

NALEE

Sexy underwear. Yeah.

Buyers Remorse And Closet Reality

ANTHONY

It was from Sheen's, so I like I got a deal out of it. Okay. You know, you get it from Sheen. It's like three bucks whatever. I know. Obviously, I'm very well aware that I only got to wear them a couple times. But there is something about having like sexy underwear underneath your clothing to just give you that extra boost of confidence.

NALEE

Yeah, I agree. Like for me, that's always been my thing. We're like, if I can't have any cute clothes, at least I know I want something cute underneath. Or my bras quality, or you know, I have a cute lacy undie or whatever.

ANTHONY

Yeah. And it's like you it's cute. And it's even better if you're like going out and you're like, you know that as soon as we get home.

NALEE

Period. You're gonna get some ads.

ANTHONY

It's gonna be a little surprised. It's a little sne sexy sexy, a little sneaky sneaky.

NALEE

Yes. Yes, I love that. And I do agree with that a hundred percent. Yes. Yeah. It just makes you feel good. It's kind of like a feel-good buy thing where you're just like, yeah, y'all don't know this, but if you do, you will, you know, if you know, you know, kind of a thing.

ANTHONY

Exactly.

NALEE

Yes.

ANTHONY

One last thing I just want to say, going back to that cheap ones website, if anybody ever decides to go there, I still endorse them because it is a good website. However, their prices have gone up.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

Um just for example, like a pair of the underwear that I would purchase. So it's like 15, well, there's one for five nine, four ninety nine. But it's like fifteen bucks for like a pair of underwear. Which still I I guess granted, if it's like name brands.

NALEE

Is it like guess or is it like Calvin Klein or I don't know if they have Calvin Klein. They have Gucci, Coochie.

ANTHONY

They're not that that bougie.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

ANTHONY

But it's like, I don't see one right now. Okay, this one is like they have poppy. When I was in my 20s, like I used to buy a lot of poppy underwear.

NALEE

Poppy is. It sounds like a drug.

ANTHONY

Not a drug. But I know I've seen them, they've had what's his name? Andrew Christian underwear.

NALEE

I have no clue what that is. I will say that. Yeah, I'm not like a big name brand person, so if you ask me, I probably wouldn't know. And that's how you know I'm a Chiposaurus, because I don't really care about name brand stuff because it's the same as everything else. Like, why would I buy a Michael Kors or a Coach or a Gucci or a Louis Vuitton purse that's like 6K when I could get a decent one from Shein that holds my stuff? Like, why? Why? You know?

ANTHONY

I feel like this is a conversation for maybe a potential different topic, or maybe it'll fit into this topic, but like I agree with that. I never understood the entire appeal of like buying a coach purse or an Hermes bag for women. Women. I don't I don't I don't get it. I know women, some women have their purses and some women have their shoes and their jewelry, but a purse I could never justify it. And I had a friend who bought a coach bag, which he always wanted, and it was something that he had worked up for and saved for. So good for him if it's the one thing. But like I know, I think he posted it with the price, or maybe we had a conversation and he had mentioned the price, and I was like, Are you fucking shitting me? I could have bought a used car for that.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Like, but and that's all.

NALEE

Okay, yeah, no, I agree. I think it could just be because I'm like a tomboy. Like growing up, I was a I was a tomboy, so I wasn't really into like purses and makeup and stuff like that. But like undergarment would be like my purse where I would I would splurge on undergarment. But if it's like a purse where it's like you said an Ermra's bag or whatever they're called, or a Louis Vuitton, whatever, I'd be like, nah. Shoes are also kind of the thing where I have a fine line where I could wear cheap shoes, but now that I've kind of grown into liking like more comfort and I'm old, so I can't just wear any excuse me. You're old bitch by any any old, like I mean, any I can't just wear any like regular shoe. Like I have to wear some cushioned shoe or whatever. So and my taste in shoe has changed. So I will like splurge a little bit on that, but that's that's about it. Like, I ain't buying a purse that's more than like, I don't know, 50 bucks. If it's more than 50 bucks, it's too

Confidence Buys And Sexy Underwear

NALEE

much, and it's a real quick no for me.

ANTHONY

So I just I want somebody to explain the appeal of spending like justifying that much money. And I will say this I'm it's it's no judgment. It's your money. You do what you want with it. I'm just trying to understand from like a financial, financially responsible standpoint. Like, how do you justify that? I can understand my friend who I said he always wanted a coach bag. I think it was like a like a cross body, yeah, crossbody bag. And I think he also bought like a like a wall, a nice wallet that would coach. And I get it if it's like I've always wanted this, I've always wanted one, I finally have the money for it, I'm treating myself.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

But what I'm questioning are those women out there who you walk into their walk-in closet and they have like two walls of all these purses and like coach bags or mez. Like, I'm just looking up right now. I have a friend who went on a cruise recently, and he is posting all these pictures and he has the Marc Jacobs tote bag.

NALEE

Okay, is that expensive?

ANTHONY

I just looked it up, so I'm pretty sure this is the one that he has. It's $400. That's a lot for a for a literal just like That's a car payment right there. You tote bag. Like, it's literally just a tote bag. Oh. And it's the tote bag, Marc Jacobs. $400.

NALEE

Is he looking to make new friends though? And does he spend money on his friends? Because I mean, I'm looking for new friends who like to spend money on new friends too. But I wouldn't say no to a Marc Jacobs bag says $400, but I ain't about to spend it.

ANTHONY

Well, I wouldn't, if somebody wants to give me one, fine, give me one, I'll take one too. But I'm just and again, if it's something you're treating yourself, no judgment. It's your money, you do what you want. But I'm trying to understand. Like if I walked into your closet and if you have a wall of Marc Jacobs purses and bags and then coach and Gucci and all these different bags, yeah, and your purses and wallets alone add up to more than what I spent on my used Elantra, help me understand. I'm trying to understand how you justify spending that much money on bags, on something that you're you probably use one bag a week.

NALEE

That's too much, even. I I haven't switched to the biggest thing. That is a year.

ANTHONY

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So help me, viewers, listeners out there, no judgment. Help me try to understand. I just want to understand.

NALEE

Yeah, what's the appeal in that?

ANTHONY

What the appeal of that is.

NALEE

Yeah, I do agree. For me, like I I think out of all of my sisters, me and Sal, we probably don't really care about name brands. But I know like Linda, Pali, my mom, my la, they're like obsessed with like coach, Michael Kors, like I don't know, expensive stuff. The only time I would use anything like name brand is if it was gifted to me. Like I have uh Kate Spade, and that's that's already a lot for me. Where I have a Kate Spade purse that I use that Linda got for me for my for Christmas, which obviously I'm thankful to that. But like other than that, like I ain't gonna go about my go out of my way to go buy it. Like, if it's gifted to me, that's cool, but I don't see myself spending that much money because honestly, I can buy food with that. Food is the other thing that I'm willing to splurge on. Y'all already know food is life.

ANTHONY

Food is gonna keep you people alive.

NALEE

Exactly. Um, what's a pure example of this? Shits Creek. The whole series of it is a reminder of why like luxury and like name brand stuff doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, when you go broke, is that purse gonna be a big one?

SPEAKER_00

All that stuff, yeah. All that stuff goes.

NALEE

I mean, technically it would because you could sell it for money, but that's the thing, you're not gonna even keep it anyways, it's gonna be gone. You know what I mean?

ANTHONY

Yeah, but and then even in that case, okay, so you spent $5,000 on a bag. You you think you're gonna tell me that you're gonna sell a used coach bag for the same amount that you paid for it? You're still losing money.

NALEE

Exactly. Yeah. And sometimes it just stacks up. Like you buy it because you think it's nice, but you end up never even using it anyways. You know what I mean? So and uh do you have anything else to add to this topic?

ANTHONY

No.

NALEE

Okay. Well, I was just gonna segue into my last topic for this segment is collecting things for absolutely no reason, which obviously we could relate to like collecting purses and stuff like that. For me, it's again, it's the undergarment in his shoes. Like it's precious to me. And anything like studio ghibli related, I'm willing to spend money. What was that? Anything studio ghibli related, like you know, totoro or like yeah, yeah. But that's about it. Like I'm bougie, but I'm bougie on a budget. You know what I mean?

Luxury Brands Versus Real Life

NALEE

Like I ain't about to go out of my way. Yeah. Unless it's food. Again, I think I'm yeah.

ANTHONY

Yeah, I think I'm the same way. I'm like, I'm bougie, but I'm bougie on a budget. And there are, I will say that there are certain things in life that are a little bit more quality, in my opinion, that like I won't negotiate on that. So, like, and I will spend the extra money. For example, like my MacBook. Like, I will never again get a PC. I will never get a Dell, I won't get an HP. It's Apple or nothing for me.

NALEE

Okay. I agree with that.

ANTHONY

But it's also there, those are also things that I'm like getting use out of. Like I'm on my laptop every single day.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

My tablet, I'm on every single day. My phone, I'm on every single day. I've just had too many problems with PC.

NALEE

It's like an investment that you're Yeah. Excuse me. It's like an investment. Like anything that I would use money for is something I'm investing investing in. Like, let's say for a trip, that I would splurge on. Yeah. Obviously, because I'm leaving. It's a vacation. That's what I'm supposed to do. You know, like things that I use every day, like you said, your MacBook. Your cell phone, clothes. But if it's like something where I could put on a shelf, like, yeah, I'm gonna do that.

ANTHONY

If it's something that you're gonna set it and forget it, it's really not worth getting yeah, spending the money on. In my opinion, in my humble opinion.

NALEE

Same, same. And my new professional target Walmart your new physically responsible personality. Yeah, I I'm a Chibasaurus. I ain't gonna get that. But again, I do want to hear what the audience's opinion is too on like if you have like name brand stuff, what's the appeal of that? Like, what's the point of that? You know? Like, is it because you could like flex it and be like, oh my god, look at me. I'm rich.

ANTHONY

Like I got But they might not even necessarily be rich.

NALEE

But that's the thing. People want to think people want other people to think they're rich. I feel like to me, that's the only reason why people would get expensive stuff. I mean, I get it. Sometimes expensive stuff has quality in it, but then again, if it's like purses and stuff like that, you're not using it every day.

ANTHONY

There is quality to those things, but there's also qual like you can find reasonable price quality as well.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Right?

SPEAKER_04

Right.

ANTHONY

And I mean, at this day and age, I'm just gonna say it. If there's anybody out there who knows the difference, please educate me. Email us the officialtwintangents at gmail.com, jump into our socials, DM me. I don't give a shit. But like, what's the difference between what's the difference between a knockoff and like just buy a knockoff coach and a real like versus a real coach? You save the money. If somebody is really gonna like inspect your fucking purse for I know this much I know. The the stitching is different.

NALEE

Mm-hmm.

ANTHONY

And I think there's like a label on the inside of real coach bags that isn't.

NALEE

Yeah, it says coach. And it comes with a little tag, like a coach tag.

ANTHONY

Like the purse comes with a certificate, I think. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Yeah. But are you carrying that certificate around to be like, it's real? See? Read. Yeah. Read the fine print. It's a real bag. If somebody's like investigating your knockoff coach that fucking close, like that bitch got no life.

NALEE

They got no life. I ain't got no love. You should suggest it to be a coach investigator.

ANTHONY

What do you get from it? You get, oh, nice purse. Is that coach? Yes, it is. Is it was that worth the $1,500 to make US feel good about yourself?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

God, I'm I sound so judgy. There really is no judgment. I just don't understand the appeal of purchasing more than one.

NALEE

I agree. I don't understand it either.

ANTHONY

Or having a wall of purses or it could just be, I don't know.

NALEE

Maybe we're just cheap. I don't know. I don't know. I just I don't find the appeal in name brand stuff either. Like I could, I will say I have a purse that I bought from Target that was like 15 bucks, and I've used that for like the past five years. And

Knockoffs And The Flex Question

NALEE

it works fine.

ANTHONY

So carry as your stuff. It doesn't have a hole in it.

NALEE

Yeah. Not that I know of, but still.

ANTHONY

I wouldn't say that we're cheap because if we're cheap, I should really have a lot more money in my bank account.

NALEE

I can't. I guess that's it for me. I wouldn't say that I would say I'm cheap. I just spend money that I don't have. That's what it is. It's the Klarna and the afterpay bitch. That's where all my money goes to. 180.

ANTHONY

There's some big interest on that too, though.

NALEE

Yeah, there is. Oh, I was gonna say the Oh, go ahead.

ANTHONY

Oh, I was just gonna say once it starts accruing, because I know like I don't remember if it's Klarna or a firm, but I think that sometimes they'll offer you like no interest for like six months or whatever it is.

NALEE

I'm gonna I know PayPal credit card has that.

ANTHONY

Oh, I don't have it.

NALEE

You shouldn't. It's bad. Yeah.

ANTHONY

I'm done. I'm gonna just give you a quick show really quick because I forgot to charge in my my laptop. So I'm just gonna give you a little woo. Just kidding.

NALEE

Okay. Was that it?

ANTHONY

That was it. That was it. Yeah.

NALEE

Damn, I wanted more.

ANTHONY

No, I'm just kidding.

NALEE

Hey, bounce a wow.

ANTHONY

Should I get on my Yeah.

NALEE

Hey, hey, hey. That's what's up.

ANTHONY

That's what's up.

NALEE

That's what's up. I was just gonna say the only good thing that I do like about like the after pay stuff is knowing me, if I you know how like when you buy a package, it takes, I don't know what, a week to get there, but they take it out every other week or every week. I get to try the clothes on. If I don't like it, I can return it and then I get my money back. So that's low-key girl math. Like, I get my money back, you know, like when I return stuff.

ANTHONY

That's true.

NALEE

Yeah. Yeah. I don't know where I was going with that, but I just wanted to mention that.

ANTHONY

Well, speaking of that, no, I haven't seen this lately. Do you ever buy clothes off of Amazon?

NALEE

Yeah, I do. But I don't know. They fit me weird now.

ANTHONY

They used to have a feature which I haven't seen in a while, but they would have a try now, pay later.

NALEE

I've been seeing that on sp like there's specific clothes that do that.

ANTHONY

Oh, it's only on certain clothes. Gotcha.

NALEE

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I know that like a lot of the summer stuff that I saw, it'll say like something about like you'll like it guaranteed. If not, you could try it and then send it back or whatever.

ANTHONY

And they don't you don't pay for it.

NALEE

Right. Yep, you just try it.

ANTHONY

Unless you keep it, yeah.

NALEE

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, those are all the topics that I have. If you have anything to add, you could do so now, or we could segue into Segw into your topics.

ANTHONY

I don't think I have anything to add other than Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm, all of those buy now, pay later things. They are the devil, but they're very helpful. I think.

NALEE

It's like, girl, don't do it. Girl, don't do it. And then I did it.

ANTHONY

I did it.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

But it's just it's nice to have those options in this day and age when I'm and I'm obviously I'm just sharing my opinion here. Everybody's situation is different. But when we live in a day and age where it's rough in the streets. I don't know how else to say it. It is rough out of the streets. It is rough in the streets.

NALEE

It really is.

ANTHONY

People be living paycheck to paycheck, trying to survive. All these, like this is a hill that I have bitched about and died upon a plethora of times, but just like all the new apartment complexes that are being built here in town. And it's like I really reflect on like how much money I I've saved, how financially responsible I am, what I get paid, what my paychecks are, and like rents rent for like a one bedroom around here is going for like $1,300, $14,000, $1,500.

NALEE

Yeah, that's crazy.

ANTHONY

I'm like, when when we moved to Wisconsin in 1997, I remember our rent started at, I want to say it was either $425 or $4.50.

NALEE

To pay that?

ANTHONY

For a two-bedroom apartment.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Yeah.

ANTHONY

And like when you and then when you hear all these places are being built and it's $1,500, $1,200 a month.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

No util that was the other thing. We moved here. So it was four something a month. Our rent included cable. It included our telephone. It included our electricity. No, it didn't include our telephone. It included electricity and our cable. And our water. So we didn't have to pay any utilities except for our phone bill.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

In addition. And then now, okay, $1,200, $130,014, $1,500 a month. No utilities included. We all know charter spectrum around here fucking gouges people.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Like it's just crazy and minimum wage hasn't gone up. So it's like the cost of living is going up, but the price to maintain that is staying the same.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And so I don't know. I don't even remember where I was going with this. It's just crazy. So it's just when you have to do it. So it's like if I need new clothes because I lost 50 pounds, I lost 100 pounds, I need new clothes, I can't.

NALEE

You go and get it.

ANTHONY

I can just shell out that $300.

Rent Prices And Paycheck Stress

NALEE

So exactly.

ANTHONY

Enter Klarna, enter my four payments at $50 a month. Yes, please.

NALEE

Yes, please.

ANTHONY

It's just convenient. It's nice.

NALEE

Yes, yes, it really is.

ANTHONY

And as Poe people like me appreciates it.

NALEE

Because we poe. That's why. That's why we don't know the appeal in having expensive stuff. That's it.

ANTHONY

These streets are rough, and if the way things are going, they're gonna get rougher because I'm gonna be sleeping on them.

NALEE

Exactly. We're gonna be in the streets, sleepy in the streets.

ANTHONY

I'm gonna be sleeping in the streets one of these one of these days. So yeah, that's all that I wanted to say.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

So what I wanted to talk about was these kind of tie together, I feel.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

I'm just gonna list off. I had I have four, but the first three I'm just gonna list off because I feel they tie together.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

Um, the treat yourself culture, impulse spending habits, and TikTok made me buy it.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

I don't know if you've ever bought anything off TikTok. Child, that shit is a dictating. And they have Klarna, in case you wasn't wondering.

NALEE

Does it come fast?

ANTHONY

Um depending on who the seller is. Depending on who the seller is, like I've gotten things by like the following week.

NALEE

Oh, that's crazy.

ANTHONY

So I don't know.

NALEE

I'm scared to buy stuff from TikTok because I feel like sometimes it's not real.

ANTHONY

I mean, depending on what it is, I would say research what you're buying.

NALEE

I guess that's true.

ANTHONY

Have you ever bought anything off Timu?

NALEE

No.

ANTHONY

Okay. So Melissa got me started on Timu.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

Back when we were at the further. I will say the quality of things that I buy off TikTok is like a hundred times better.

NALEE

Oh, is it?

ANTHONY

Yeah.

NALEE

Interesting. Okay.

ANTHONY

I'm trying to think. I don't think I have anything here that I bought off of TikTok. The most recent thing that I think I bought off of TikTok was the Metacube.

NALEE

Mmm. You're using Metacube?

ANTHONY

Yeah. The glass skin.

NALEE

How do you like it?

ANTHONY

I it's too long of a step regimen, because there's like, what is it, like eight steps or something like that?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

I just want to get in there, get done, and just be done with it. I don't like it.

NALEE

Do you put it all at one time?

ANTHONY

I if I'm if I'm not in a hurry and I have the time, I'll go through the full regimen.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

I love their cleanser though. I'm running low. I'm like squeezing the tube out right now. So I have I'm gonna order another one of those. But anyway, where I was going with this is I just want to I endorse all of our listeners. Treat yourself when you when you want, when you feel the need to, and when you can. I definitely encourage that. Impulse spending habits. We baby girl, I don't know about you, but I need to get

Treat Yourself Culture And TikTok

ANTHONY

that shit in control. I was doing so well for the longest time. And then probably like the last couple months, I was just, I've just been like buying this, buying that, buying this. Just oh, this looks good. I want this. Click, click, click, click, click, click, click, clack, click. It's because you look in good.

NALEE

You poe, but you're looking good, baby. True.

ANTHONY

And I appreciate that, Boo. I appreciate that. But what I will say about that is I'm even buying things that have nothing to do with making me look good. So you ain't poe.

unknown

Yeah.

ANTHONY

I am Poe is called Klarna.

SPEAKER_02

Funny.

ANTHONY

And TikTok, again, all of these tie together because treating myself with things that I see on TikTok. I'm impulse buying with things that I see on TikTok. My algorithm on TikTok is like every other fucking thing is an ad for something. And all okay, I gotta, I'm gonna get up on my soapbox now.

SPEAKER_02

Here we go. Here we go. I felt it.

ANTHONY

I felt it.

SPEAKER_02

I felt it.

ANTHONY

I have been noticing these TikToks. So, you know, all these people are like selling things on TikTok. They're advertising it and they're like, click the orange box at the bottom of this thing, and you can click and it takes you to the I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but people can make money off of that.

NALEE

Of you clicking the box?

ANTHONY

Yeah. Because it's a strategic like Yeah, I don't remember what it's called, but yeah, it's like something marketing or whatever. Yeah. So they become like a seller for that item.

NALEE

Oh, an affiliate affiliate seller or whatever. Affiliate, yes. Yeah.

ANTHONY

Yes. So they get money off of it. And I never pieced that together until I noticed this l over this last weekend, I'd come across TikToks where they were like, oh, this is on such a mega deal right now. But if you can't get this price, you have to go to your cart and you have to remove it and then click the link at the bottom of this TikTok. I'm like, y'all some scam artists, you some shady motherfuckers right there. That is some shady shit.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

NALEE

It's kind of like the commercials on like or advertisements on like Facebook and stuff, where like you see all these influencers from Amazon and they're like, yeah, how to style these 10 tank tops. Click the link below to my storefront, and then from there you could uh put it in your cart, and then they get paid a certain amount from the purchase.

ANTHONY

Chow bye.

NALEE

It's all a triangle, well, not triangle, it's all a pyramid scheme.

ANTHONY

Pyramid scheme. Sh scheme. Yeah.

NALEE

Pyramid. Everybody's scheming out on these streets cause we poe.

ANTHONY

Cause we po.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

But it just amazes me how many people on TikTok are doing that.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And I'm like, yeah. I need to find some energy to do that for myself.

NALEE

I'll while I was listening to you talk about everything. I was just thinking, sorry, I didn't mean to cut you. What were you saying?

ANTHONY

Oh, I no, I'm I'm listening. I wasn't.

NALEE

Oh, I was gonna say that you are friends with the wrong sisters and the wrong mother because my mama, she buys tons of shit from Timu, and all my sisters buy tons of shit from TikTok. I'm the only one who hasn't even touched Timu or TikTok.

ANTHONY

You're s keep it that way, girl. Trust me. Keep it that way.

NALEE

Like Pauli, every fucking week. I bought this from TikTok. I got this from TikTok. I'm like, bitch, that's how you getting skimmed.

ANTHONY

What is she buying? Is she buying like clothes or?

NALEE

I think a little it's a little mix of stuff. Like she buys clothes. There was this like shelf thing she bought, and then there's all the uh these other stuff that she bought. But my mom, my mom got scammed a couple times, like off of TikTok or Timu? Timu, because she bought like these dishes stuff or whatever. And then the photo, it looks really pretty. But when she actually got it, they were like miniature. And like, y'all here getting scammed.

ANTHONY

Yep, that's what they do. Yeah, I got scammed off of Timu, and that was why I stopped. Well, I sh I don't know, I guess it's technically scammed, but like my I had identity theft on one of my cards.

NALEE

Oh, what the hell?

ANTHONY

And I know that it was from what I bought on Timu because I never got what I bought on Timu.

NALEE

Oh, that sucks.

ANTHONY

But yeah.

NALEE

Damn. Yeah, no, that makes me even more scared because I think you were the the first, I think you were the one who told me that you got like a fraud alert from Timu.

ANTHONY

This was when we were at the further.

NALEE

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

ANTHONY

Mm-hmm.

NALEE

Yeah. I don't know. Like I get it, Sheehan. They have good and bad reviews, but they have never, they have never like done anything wrong for me. Like every time I got an order.

ANTHONY

Wait, Sheen and what?

NALEE

Shein has never like done me wrong.

ANTHONY

Like Oh, I thought you said another company too.

NALEE

No, just Shein.

ANTHONY

Okay.

NALEE

But yeah, but their shoes are decent. Well, not shoes. I like their sandals. The sandals are decent, makeup's good, clothing. For me, you have to look at the measurements because not just by like the XL or like the sizing. You have to look at the measurements individually. But if you know your measurements, it's way easier to buy your clothes online than having to buy it, wait for it to come, and then you try it on. Yeah. So yeah, it's never, it's never. I don't know what the term is, but it's never done me wrong. Yeah. I like Sheen.

ANTHONY

I would never buy shoes off of Sheen. I bought one pair of shoes, and those are the white tennis shoes that I wore to Texas.

NALEE

Yeah, I remember you showing that to him.

ANTHONY

They were so uncomfortable. There was like no cushioning. Yeah. It was digging into my heel. Like I could not wait to get those fucking things off. But they look good.

NALEE

Yeah, they did look good. You looked good in Texas.

ANTHONY

Thank you.

NALEE

Can you like side note again? First of all, we do not look like the people that went to Texas at all.

ANTHONY

No, we don't. I told you that. Yeah. That's why I sent you that picture of you at the airport.

NALEE

Oh my God, that shit was nasty. Again. The audacity of y'all letting me out in these streets looking like that and saying you look good and you look skinny. Y'all bitches straight up lied. You know what?

ANTHONY

I'm gonna play the fifth because in that outfit that I sent you the picture of, I did not tell you you look good.

NALEE

We'll say I loved her and she did me some good. So yeah.

ANTHONY

Oh, you're talking about yourself right now?

NALEE

I'm talking about myself right now. Yeah. Good for I love her. She was a part of me. She was a part of me. She always will be, but she is never gonna be seen again in these streets.

ANTHONY

Period.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

She's done it. We locked her away.

NALEE

We we clocked her out. Patricia's gone. In comes the new girl. Patricia.

ANTHONY

I had to say Patricia.

NALEE

Or Patrice. I think Patrice is more fitting from How I Met Your Mother because she was chubby. But yeah.

ANTHONY

Oh, is that where you were coming with Patricia from?

NALEE

No, Patricia's from Split. Split. Where he's like, it was Patricia. It's Patricia. But I was saying Patrice because I don't know if you guys watch How I Met Your Mother, but Patrice, she's like a chubby Filipino girl. And there's Robin like gets annoyed of her and she goes, What does she do? I didn't ask you Patrice. And like she's always like yelling Patrice, but she's like a chubby girl. And yeah, the Texas Nollie was Patrice. Patrice, we locked her away. She made her debut and she left.

ANTHONY

I'll post the picture for our listeners right here.

NALEE

Hell yeah. I'm just kidding.

ANTHONY

I would not do that to you.

NALEE

If you posted that photo, you will officially be the only host of this podcast. I will self-volunteer, exit.

ANTHONY

I am looking for a new co-host, listeners.

SPEAKER_02

The fucking goal. The goal of this new.

ANTHONY

Schedules require two to two and a half hours every Monday.

NALEE

You probably do a better job at like the social media than I do, though. And reading. Speaking to, thinking also. Actually, this position is open. Low.

ANTHONY

Yeah, we need to step up your social media game, boo.

NALEE

Yeah, we do. And I apologize on behalf of the whole podcast and myself.

ANTHONY

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

I have no excuses. I have no excuses.

ANTHONY

Speaking of speaking of which, I checked our email.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

ANTHONY

Side tangent, side tangent, and then we'll get back. I have we're still segment one. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it's okay. What's new here? I know. Segment one. And then we brush through everything else.

ANTHONY

And then we'll rush through the end. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly.

ANTHONY

So side side note here is we got an email from another person who has somebody who would potentially do a guest spot. I would like to do a guest spot for us.

NALEE

So you and I, we you specifically Are these are these on top of the other ones that you've mentioned to me before?

ANTHONY

Yeah. So we have three people. Three people who've reached out to us.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

I don't know if they're agents or what, because they've all reached out on behalf of somebody else.

SPEAKER_04

Interesting.

ANTHONY

So yeah, we have three people who potentially could be podcast guests.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

So you and I, we really need to sit down. We need to do that.

NALEE

I know we have a few other ones that didn't officially like reach out to us, friends of friends. I do know that. But I guess this is our little plug too that if you guys want to come on the pod, or if you guys know anybody who's interested to enter our little universe of chaos. Umity. Yeah, our home unity. Message us, DM us, obviously on our socials, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, email the official theofficial twintangents. at gmail.com. Y'all can even message me and Anthony on our personal social media, but we would prefer it on twin tangents if you can.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, please do. So whatever's more comfortable.

NALEE

Same. That's a lie, but same.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was gonna say. Bye bye girl. Bye bye girl. It's so hard. Okay, I'm really really tangenting off now. So last thing I'm gonna say.

ANTHONY

It's so hard that there's Instagram, there's Facebook, there's Snapchat, there's what else is there? Twitter, TikTok, there's like all these places. So I'm getting messages, and then I really get like overwhelmed when it's like Nolly sent me five messages on Messenger. Nolly sent me 10 messages on Instagram. Nolly sent me 18 messages on TikTok. I'm like, ah, you know, so like I will literally I'll be like, I will do one platform at a time. Like I might be just strolling on TikTok one day and I'll be like, okay, I'm gonna read all of Nollie's messages right now. And I'll respond to that.

NALEE

Is that like it's not that I'm lacking, it's that like it's low key that I'm lacking. But that's how I feel like when I'm posting on like socials and stuff, because there's a lot. And also, I had like 20 messages from you on TikTok. So bitch, do not say you had like 30, okay? Because they're all from you.

ANTHONY

On TikTok, check check Messenger. This is what I'm saying. Like, you might send me like 30 on Messenger, and then I'll send on TikTok. We're just we're not aligned. I wish there was one central like platform that you could connect all of your social medias that all of the messages just funneled into that one. Patent pending. There's our small business idea. We gonna do it. We gonna do it. We gonna do it.

NALEE

We got it. Okay. What are we talking about?

ANTHONY

Yeah, right. So the my last topic for segment one was vacation spending logic.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

So I'm gonna encourage I don't know about you, but there are certain people in this world that I'm I can't justify their logic. So I'm only justifying for myself or anybody out there who has the same schedule as me.

NALEE

Mind you, oh I'm valuable. Would you mind like elaborating on that?

ANTHONY

What I'm trying to do right now.

NALEE

Okay, I'm sorry.

unknown

Okay.

ANTHONY

No, that's bitch. Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. Was like, so for me, I you know, I only typically go on one vacation a year. Bitch, do it up. Like, that is like logic right there. Spend your money. If this is a once-a-year vacation, yeah, go all out. Could potentially be a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, depending on where you're going. Go the fuck all out. You're spending to make those memories.

NALEE

Yeah. And what if you come back and you die?

unknown

That got real morbid.

ANTHONY

Um that got real dark. I'm sorry. We were like driving in a sunny country road, and we're like, oh, look, let's go to that big dark area. Good luck, everybody else.

SPEAKER_02

I'm the I'm the I bring the dark side to our podcast. I'm sorry.

ANTHONY

But I went on vacation. Oh my god. You're like Richard's uncle.

NALEE

But I'm just saying.

ANTHONY

I feel like I should get permission to tell this story.

NALEE

Okay, do it.

ANTHONY

You want me to get permission?

NALEE

No, no, no. Tell the story.

ANTHONY

Well, I might have to do that.

NALEE

Well, Richard's because we don't know who Richard's uncle is. That's okay.

ANTHONY

That's true. You're right.

NALEE

So I mean, we're gonna go up to him and be like, hey, you're Richard's uncle. We heard your story. We ain't gonna do that. We're gonna be like, oh you might. Okay. Well, I might I don't know about anybody else.

ANTHONY

We just have a running joke because when we visited years ago, he took us on like a tour of the city. And like this man, like everyone, he's like, yeah, I was driving down here. I was going to meet some friends for dinner, and woman dropped dead right there. Then it'd be like driving, driving, driving. Yep. This is where we all used to meet up. Three of my friends died.

NALEE

Damn, he is me.

Vacation Spending Without Regret

ANTHONY

And it was just like every place, like every block, it was like somebody died, or he knew somebody that like died there.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And so we have this running joke. It's it's actually we call it the powder blue dress because the one woman, he said there was a woman. She's walking down the beach, she died. She's in a powder blue dress. She died.

NALEE

Damn.

ANTHONY

And it's just a running joke.

NALEE

That wasn't a bad story.

ANTHONY

No, it's not a bad story. I just didn't know if we wanted to Yeah, it's fine.

NALEE

That was cute. Yeah, you guys, I'm sorry. I'm such a dark cloud to our jokes sometimes. Like I could take a really dark turn. But you're right, though. But I but then again, it's like realistically.

ANTHONY

You could come home and you could die.

NALEE

Oh yeah, you could die. So why don't you go all out?

ANTHONY

And the other thing is like, like I said, it's if you do it like once a year, or you know, some people, God forbid, don't even get to go on vacation once a year.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Like if it's something that you do infrequently and it's a vacation that you're gonna be doing with family, friends, or loved ones that you're going to be making memories, go out and spend the extra money that you're gonna enjoy yourself.

NALEE

Yeah, exactly.

ANTHONY

Fully endorse that.

NALEE

Yeah. Fully endorse that. And don't feel bad about it. Don't feel bad about it because the thing is is that again, like what you said, you could die. It's just like a one you could, again, you could die, or it's like a one-time thing. It's just like make it worth it. Make that dash worth it. Like you said.

ANTHONY

Make that dash worth it. Yeah. And going down the the path of morbid. Oh you can't if you've been saving money up for a vacation and just in general, you can't take the money with you.

SPEAKER_04

Right. Right.

ANTHONY

When you die. That was one thing that I was like thinking about this. I don't know if you were aware or not. Weeks ago, Elon Musk, Elon Musk was announced as the world's first trillionaire.

SPEAKER_04

Oh.

ANTHONY

Trillion. Trillionaire. T-R-I. That's what I trillionaire. That is more money than him, his kids, his grandkids, his great-grandkids, his great-great-grandkids will ever need to live on, and they'll still have money left over.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

You can't take it with you. Like, so do something with your money.

NALEE

Yeah. Let us win the lottery. Donate to twintangents.com. My PayPal is.

ANTHONY

Oh my God.

NALEE

Okay? Donate whenever you can. Do what you gotta do.

ANTHONY

Okay, now I'm gonna ask you, do you am I gonna have to bleep that out?

NALEE

No, it's fine. If y'all wanna send me money, do it.

ANTHONY

Oh my god.

NALEE

Do it! Pen pal me, pen pal, PayPal me, Venmo me. It's fine. Maybe. All right, listeners, right now. Bleep it out, bleep it out, bleep it out, bleep it out.

ANTHONY

This bit, I was just gonna say, you watch right now, listeners. You heard it here first. And what's gonna happen is I'm gonna finish editing. And then I'm gonna say, Nolly, it's up for you to listen and make sure everything's good. And then last minute before I'm ready to upload this episode, she's gonna be like, Oh, can you bleep that out? And then I'm gonna have to scramble.

NALEE

But yeah, I just thought about it, and it's probably not a good idea because I'm gonna get like a lot of emails that I don't need.

ANTHONY

Y'all have her email address now, so I want you to start signing her up for AARP, sign her up for Playgirl, Playboy, send her up for oh, ooh, Scientology. That's a good one.

NALEE

What's Scientology?

ANTHONY

Are you serious right now?

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

It's a fucking wack-a-doo religion. Religion. And I don't even care. All you religious motherfuckers out there, if you listen to us, come for me. Try it. I dare you. Because Scientologists. What? What's with the face?

SPEAKER_02

We gonna get canceled.

ANTHONY

Honey, I okay. I will I will put money on it.

NALEE

Scientology was like some kind of like science website. Because if that's the case, I would be interested in it. Because I love like science and dinosaurs.

ANTHONY

No, it's it's it's a bullshit religion that takes your money.

NALEE

What is it about? Can we side tangent for like two seconds about this?

ANTHONY

I know that there's famous celebrity Scientologists, include Tom Cruise.

NALEE

Tom Cruise. Mission Impossible guy?

ANTHONY

Mm-hmm. Yep.

NALEE

Seriously?

ANTHONY

Yep. Okay, so here, I'll give you the brief. This is the AI overview from Google. Okay. Scientology is a belief system and religious movement founded by L. Ron Hubbard in the 1950s. It teaches that humans are immortal souls trapped in physical bodies across multiple lifetimes and aims to help people achieve total spiritual freedom by giving their money to the Church of Scientology through that's not part of this, but that's the truth. Through a counseling process called auditing. Core beliefs, the I'm probably gonna butcher this, the Thetan. Scientologists believe each person is an immortal spirit called a phetan, which has lived through innumerable past lives and possesses unlimited capabilities. Auditing, this is a core counseling practice where a practitioner helps a member locate and confront past traumas, often utilizing an e-meter, an electronic device that measures emotional states to clear the reactive

ANTHONY

mind. Organization criticism, controversy, public consensus, and ex-members generally agree that the organization employs highly manipulative recruitment, control, and financial practices. The organization has faced several allegations of human rights abuses, including forced labor and aggressive pers persecution of critics and journalists.

NALEE

That was a lot. You lost me.

ANTHONY

Basically, you watch Shits Creek, right?

NALEE

Yeah. Do you remember the episode trick question?

ANTHONY

You remember that episode where Alexis takes everybody to that workout?

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

That is basically what Scientology is. It's it's a cult. It is a cult. So I don't feel bad. And anybody who wants to come for me. Exactly. Exactly. And you have to buy the cassette tapes and you have to buy the special water.

NALEE

Okay, okay, okay.

ANTHONY

Okay, now I'm on my, I'm gonna step down for my soapbox. But I dare any of our listeners to come for me. And if any of our listeners are Scientologists, I ain't gonna I ain't even gonna feel bad about this. See your way out.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

Change the channel. I don't want you. You ain't gonna get me. You ain't gonna get me. You ain't gonna get me. You ain't gonna You ain't gonna Katie Holmes me like Tom Cruise did.

NALEE

Is she also it part of it?

ANTHONY

She was until she divorced him.

NALEE

Who else is it? I'm interested to know now.

ANTHONY

I don't know. Let me Google that now. Do you wanna introduce our next segment while I while you Google that?

NALEE

Okay. Well, our next segment is called The Hustle Illusion. Okay, well, according to the internet, everybody has become a millionaire overnight. And according to Anthony, a couple weeks ago, sir, what's his name? Elon Musk. Elon Musk. Elon Musk became a trillionaire. So so yeah.

ANTHONY

So yeah. Before we continue, I'm gonna just go back to your question here. So right now the current members of high profile affiliates include Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Elizabeth Moss from The Handmaid's Sale. That one's a surprise to me. Yeah. Giovanni Rabisi, actor known for his role in Avatar and Sneaky Pete. Nancy Cartwright, the voice actor behind Bart Simpson. Michael Paina. Don't know who that is. He's an actor who apparently has credited credited Scientology for making him a better actor. Jenna Elfman from Dharma and Greg. Erica Christensen. Don't know any of that. I don't know who that is. Notable former members and critics of Scientology include Leah Remini, Katie Holmes, Jason Lee, Lisa Marie Presley, and Beck.

NALEE

Don't know who any of those are except for Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise and the lady who does the voice for Lisa or Bart. Okay, so not a lot of people that we know of.

ANTHONY

No, there's more. There's that's just the the breed. The famous people. Okay. I didn't get like a full-on list.

NALEE

Okay, well, regardless if it's a cult or not, I do agree. If you're like manipulating people to get money, fuck y'all. Yeah.

ANTHONY

Sorry. Sorry, not sorry.

NALEE

Move along.

ANTHONY

Move the fuck along.

NALEE

Jeez.

ANTHONY

Okay, now that I I'm gonna step off my high horse.

NALEE

Okay, okay.

ANTHONY

We'll jump back in. I gotta. What's that you tell me to say? Wusa.

NALEE

Wusa. Yes.

ANTHONY

Okay. But anyway, as you were saying, selling a course about selling courses.

NALEE

Apparently, sleeping is the only thing we're doing that isn't making passive income.

ANTHONY

If I hear multiple streams of income one more fucking time, I'm gonna start charging people to listen to this podcast.

NALEE

Yeah. All right. What were your topics?

ANTHONY

Mine was, so my first one was monetizing hobbies.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

Which kind of coincides with like digital products and Etsy dreams, which was my second topic. I think I think nowadays, especially with like TikTok and more social media platforms, more people are trying to monetize off of the things that they're good at, which I think is very smart and very self-marketing if it is something that you can do the right way and the smart way.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Have you ever thought about doing any of these?

NALEE

I have actually.

ANTHONY

Have you?

NALEE

Obviously, my nail stuff. I, you know, obviously I wanted to do nails and stuff. Low-key right now, I think that projectory or trajectory or whatever that that goal that I have for nails, it kind of changed a little bit, I think, just because it's not ideal for me right now. But yes, I have considered that. Again, the tarot card stuff, I low-key wanted to get into that. I think that's why I started that. Because I've just been busy. Like, I've just been busy.

The Hustle Illusion Starts

NALEE

Your girl's doing stuff and taking care of me, I guess. But once, you know, everything regulates again or everything's kind of like settled down. I think I may start to get back into that. Because it was really fun. I think for me, I loved seeing her videos. Yeah, because it was more fun and it's like something that I got interested in. I think I'm more willing to do that over the nails because nails I actually have to put into work, I have to record, I have to ask people for the permission to take photos of their nails and stuff like that too. So I think that part's a little bit more tricky. But if it's like just me recording myself reading tarot and like giving people education on it, I did consider kind of like making that a thing. Now, I don't know how much I would get because I don't know, like, again, it's like a beginner thing for me, and I'm not very good, like a lot of tarot card readers, they could like memorize a lot of stuff, and I'm getting owed, and I can't really do that. And I suck at like reading while I'm recording myself, let alone I can't even speak properly sometimes. So I'm just kind of like, eh, I don't know if like people would watch my videos and stuff, but I think it's more for like I don't know if this word is even a word, but it's more of like entertainment purposes. I think that's what I wanted to do it for. Yeah. I don't know if that made any sense, but no, that did make sense.

ANTHONY

So let me ask you this. So we're are you- I have a question.

NALEE

Hold on.

ANTHONY

Okay.

NALEE

Is your bubbly alcoholic? Like, is there I feel drunk.

ANTHONY

It even says non-alcoholic on the can.

NALEE

Uh, I feel a little drunk. I don't know what's going on here, y'all.

ANTHONY

Okay, but this bitch thinks I fucking roofied her. Yes, I gave you an alcoholic drink and said, enjoy this on your drive home.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like two hours of yeah, yeah.

ANTHONY

Fucking bitch.

SPEAKER_02

Stupid.

ANTHONY

So let me ask you this.

SPEAKER_02

No, like when you would hide me.

ANTHONY

I got the good drugs.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, low-key side, another side tangent, real quick. I listened to that for an hour yesterday on repeat.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god.

NALEE

Like the whole two minutes. I sat there for an hour listening to that and I laughed the whole time. I encourage you six packs right now.

ANTHONY

I encourage you to look up how to take that sound bite and make it my ringtone. So that every time I text you, every time I call you, it just goes, you're like heavy or something like that.

Monetizing Hobbies Without Burning Out

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was like, oh my god.

ANTHONY

Like how mine has that every time you text me, it goes, Hey guys.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, yeah. Is it really?

ANTHONY

Yeah, text me right now.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, let me text you. Ew. That was such an ugly ass audio.

ANTHONY

Uh oh, I fucking love it.

NALEE

Okay, ready?

ANTHONY

Yep. See.

NALEE

Hey guys. Ew.

ANTHONY

Every single time. So actually, that actually might be the reason that nine times out of ten, my ringer is off because it says it so many times that if I don't answer it right away, it just No, no, I lied. I turned it off when you and Melissa would like nonstop.

NALEE

So it was like every single time each one of you messaged, it was like, hey guys, hey guys, hey guys, hey guys, hey guys. Oh my god.

ANTHONY

I'm like, okay, I'm done.

SPEAKER_02

I can't believe it's your actual rank toe. That's fucking hilarious.

NALEE

I love that.

ANTHONY

Yeah. Okay, so back to our topic.

NALEE

I love it. Yes, let's go back.

ANTHONY

So were you planning on doing like tarot to make money?

NALEE

Low key, yeah. I wanted to get into like educating people who are slowly getting into tarot. And also I wanted to do readings because I've done a few readings where not to toot my own horn, but apparently they were pretty accurate. Okay. So then I'm like, oh, that seems like fun. And so then I would I would like to get into that, you know. But I don't I'm not educated enough to on the cards to be able to be like, oh yeah, this is what this card means. Or I'm not good at like pairing the cards together to know what they mean.

ANTHONY

But that's what takes practice.

NALEE

Right. And so that's part of that's initially part of like the first part of like the tarot. And then once I become better and I master that skill, then I would potentially like to read or do readings. But then again, that's like later on in the down the road. Yeah.

ANTHONY

Okay. I I definitely went to what about me? What?

NALEE

Did you want to do d were you like looking into that too?

ANTHONY

To tarot?

NALEE

No, like into like digital products and like the Etsy stuff?

ANTHONY

Yes, because I inadvertently made I had made a baseball cap.

NALEE

Oh yeah, yeah, that's right. Okay, yeah, yeah.

ANTHONY

I think did I told you about this, right? Yep, yep, yep. Yeah. So I made a baseball cap for myself a couple years ago on I don't I think it was like Printify or Printful or something like that. And I didn't realize that when I had made it, it set it up as like an item that anybody could purchase.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

And so I had gotten a notification that was like, oh, you had sold a hat.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

And I was like, what? And so I had to like look into it a little bit more, and I was like, I just made like I don't remember what it was, like 25 bucks or something like that.

NALEE

Nice. Okay.

ANTHONY

And so I was like, all right, I'm gonna try and do this and like make money off of this. So I like made a couple different like items.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

And like started an Etsy store and tried advertising on Facebook. And I think I ended up selling like $700 worth of hats.

NALEE

God damn. Okay. Yeah, good too.

ANTHONY

So it was I mean, it was just a little bit of extra money. It was nice to have. But um yeah, that and that is something that actually I'm I'm working on right now.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

And doing and like making like sort of like a little side hustle, I guess. I love that. So to say. No, not yet, because it's still a work in progress.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

ANTHONY

So maybe, maybe once I get things up and running.

SPEAKER_04

Nice.

ANTHONY

Yeah. But I have certain things that uh I I would like to do that I'm working on.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

NALEE

I love that.

ANTHONY

Yeah. And going turning the table back on you, one thing I just want to definitely continue to encourage you. I understand that the nails are a lot more time consuming and a lot more work. But you definitely have a talent and you're really good at that. So even if it's I want you to I want you to consider like exploring that. Yeah. And even if it's just like making like I don't know, five sets of nails a month and like selling it on Etsy, like you can just make them, take your pictures, post them up, and like you know, it's like everything that you do is as far as your nails are so like it's it's a one and done thing, right? Because you can't make eight sets of nails that are the exact same. They're all gonna be different. I mean, you can, it's the same design, but it's the same design, but they're not there, no two designs are gonna be identical. Yeah.

NALEE

Right.

ANTHONY

So like make make up ten sets of nails, sell them, and be like, once they're gone, they're gone.

NALEE

Yeah, that's true. I mean extra money for you. Like, I did have like I did make a lot of pressants, and then I sold it at my brother's pharmacy, which it did pretty good for a while. But again, it's like very time consuming. And for me right now, my first thought is what's the fastest way and the easiest way to make money? And that's not it. Like I have to Okay, but the thing too is because nails is so like competitive right now, and there's so many talented nail artists where it's not that I'm intimidated by it, it's just it's not a good market right now. I want something that's unique, I want something that's quick and something that I could I feel passionate about. And I think with nails, I think that's I've already kind of passed that part. You know what I mean?

ANTHONY

Okay, I'm just gonna say my opinion on that, on what you just said. So the first thing is you had said that it's a tough nail market right now.

NALEE

Mm-hmm.

ANTHONY

And you had mentioned you had used you specifically used the word unique.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

I feel like you're kind of downplaying yourself because that's something that's going to be in the eye of the beholder. It's like beauty's in the eye of the beholder.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

So you're downplaying your talent, I feel, even though you're saying that you're not, you actually are. Because yes, there's other people out there, but who's to say that there's not going to be people out there that are going to be like attracted to your nails versus somebody else's nails? That's I think I just think you're selling yourself a little bit short there. Just my personal opinion, because you are very talented and your nails are unique. So it's just a matter of who is gonna, it's like artwork. Something I might find completely hideous, you can be obsessed with. And it's no, it's no different with nails, like you know?

NALEE

Yeah. I mean the other side. I mean, that's a really good point to bring up. Thank you. I know. I appreciate that reminder.

ANTHONY

And I'm a little sad that you're you're saying that you're past the nails because you were at one point so passionate about your nails. I remember working at the further, you would sit there at the desk and you would like you were working on your nails. I mean, you were probably just giving yourself a manicure or like cutting or filing or whatever, but I didn't think so, but okay. You don't remember doing your nails at the desk?

NALEE

I don't remember, no.

ANTHONY

Oh my god, you you even had like not I'm not saying like painting your nails, but like you were always like fixing your nails and giving cuticles and cutting your nails and like I was about to say I'm trying to get a lawsuit here, bitch. You're passionate about what are they gonna do? The checks cashed.

NALEE

That's true.

ANTHONY

You ain't gonna get it. And then the other thing is that you had you had mentioned like you're trying to come up with something fast and easy. That's I I'm just gonna throw out my opinion. That's not the way to do it. It's slow and steady wins the race. Quick and easy, it's gonna, it's gonna supplement you right now. But if you want something that's gonna be longevity and like help you in the long run, you need to plan, come up with a plan, focus. Again, slow and steady wins the race.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

I mean, there's no such thing as get rich quick.

NALEE

I do have a plan somehow with my nails, but it ain't gonna be like that. It's gonna be something like something, you know.

ANTHONY

I don't know what that meant.

NALEE

It didn't mean anything. It meant everything and anything and nothing. I got it.

ANTHONY

Light bulb. Light bulb. I know what you're saying now.

NALEE

Yep.

ANTHONY

So yeah, so those are two of my three topics for segments.

NALEE

We'll put in our plugs whenever it happens.

ANTHONY

Well, I'll put in my plugs. I'm not if if what you're talking about is what I'm thinking, I have a feeling we plug in.

NALEE

What are you thinking?

ANTHONY

I have a feeling somehow you're talking about like OnlyFans and you're gonna somehow mesh the nails in there.

NALEE

No fucking deny. I cannot confirm nor deny. I just said we ain't out here doing that.

ANTHONY

You may have just said, but it's the way you said it.

NALEE

I can't even do it like you. My neck still hurts.

ANTHONY

Bitch can read between the lines.

NALEE

Yeah. You go hit your mic.

ANTHONY

Probably.

NALEE

No, I'm just kidding. I do want to do something with my nails. I do, but I think right now it's just not in my timeline. Maybe in the near future. Yeah. But anyways, let's get back on track. What was your other topic?

ANTHONY

Um, well, those those first two topics, did you have anything that you wanted to add to those?

NALEE

No, I don't. I don't. No.

ANTHONY

My last topic that I had was quitting your nut the quitting your nine to five fantasy.

SPEAKER_02

I thought you were gonna say quit. Quitting your nutting.

ANTHONY

Quitting your nutting. Not from nine to five. No nut November.

SPEAKER_02

Yay, yeah.

ANTHONY

Fuck that shit. Ain't nobody got time for that. I don't understand.

NALEE

Anyways.

ANTHONY

I get it. The way you you have this fantasy.

NALEE

What fantasy?

ANTHONY

The quitting the nine to five.

NALEE

Oh, yeah, for sure.

ANTHONY

So you would quit.

NALEE

I would quit.

ANTHONY

Yeah.

NALEE

Yeah, I would quit. Yeah. I really do want to be, I want to have my own business. I don't know what it is, but I do want to have my own business. I don't want to be working for people the rest of my life. I want people to work for me.

ANTHONY

Almost the same.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Almost the same. Yeah, I don't know what it is. That's something that ever since I was younger, probably a teenager, like I've gone through all these phases where I'm like, I want my brother owns his own business.

NALEE

Nice.

ANTHONY

And I've always wanted to own my own business. That was what I did my capstone on when I graduated. Okay. Um, with my bachelor's, was I I had to create my entire business, my business proposal, my plan, everything.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And for a while there, I was pretty serious about like trying to get that done.

NALEE

Is it too much to ask what kind of like business you were tr planning on doing or your idea was?

ANTHONY

No, not at all. I mean, at the time we were working at the further, and with my background, I had wanted to open up a DME medical supply company.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

Um just because but then I got into the bigger issues that could arise. And it's anyway, yeah. But that's that was what I was thinking. And I've I've kind of jumped shipped on so many things. Like at one point I wanted to open a restaurant. At one point, I wanted to open a bar. At one point I wanted to open restaurant bar. But ultimately, I think my ultimate goal is I'm like you. I would want to have my own company because I don't want to work for anybody.

NALEE

Right.

ANTHONY

And where I differ.

NALEE

I want to have my own schedule. I don't want to be doing nine to five. I want to work two hours, be done. Yeah.

ANTHONY

Where we differ though is I don't necessarily know that I would want people to work for me. Unless it's people that I know.

unknown

Okay.

ANTHONY

Which you know, like I don't know.

NALEE

You know it was funny. You know. You know.

ANTHONY

Not everybody has good work ethics. And I don't, and I'm not, I'm a non-confrontal confrontational type of person. I don't like confrontation.

NALEE

Okay. Continue.

ANTHONY

I don't like confrontation. And so for me to put myself in a situation where I hire somebody and then I have to fire them because they fucking suck at their job.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

So I would really have to know the person, or I would really have to know what their work ethic or background was like. Like I I would have to know that if I'm telling you, again, it's my my business, my company, if I'm telling you this is the process and this is how we do things, like, do it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

ANTHONY

Now I'm that's not to say that I'm not open to hearing, like, hey, you know, if we do it this way, it's it's gonna save this much. Why you do

Quitting The Nine To Five Fantasy

ANTHONY

like that? Why you do like that? Why you do why you do like that?

NALEE

Yeah, why you doing like that?

ANTHONY

Yeah, see, now we're getting canceled. Now I'll get canceled.

NALEE

Oh shit. But I'm not that.

ANTHONY

I'm not opposed to that.

NALEE

Not you.

ANTHONY

Exactly. I'm not I'm not opposed to that. Like I'm fine with that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

But where I have an issue is with those people that don't do. We've had this conversation with Courtney before.

NALEE

Like I just do what's expected of you. Right. Right, right. I I guess I do agree with that to some extent. Me, on the other hand, I like confrontation. Like, I like to show you who's boss. And but then again, I think I have a good way of like presenting the issue at hand. And I am very mutual about it. So then I think the way I approach, I guess, like management stuff, it's more mutable. You know what I mean? Like, I'm not scared to be like, this is what you're doing, this is what I need you to do. Let me know how I can help you help yourself, kind of a thing.

ANTHONY

Oh, I'm not scared to do that either.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

I'm talking about the confrontation, whereas we've had that conversation, and here we are a month later, and we're back to this conversation.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And okay, now it's time to write you up or to fire you. Like that's the part. I don't want to put myself in that situation. And I'm gonna sound very narcissistic here, and that's fine because I'm I'm doing my self-help.

NALEE

Sorry, my blanket is like making it have like a fucking seizure attack or something.

ANTHONY

But I'm doing my self-help, I'm doing my therapy, I'm acknowledging, I'm being I'm becoming more self-aware. So I will openly admit this is gonna sound narcissistic. It is what it is, but sometimes it's just easier if I do it. If I want it, if you want something done the right way, you do it yourself.

NALEE

Yes, exactly. So that's exactly why I want to work for myself. I don't want to work for other people.

ANTHONY

Exactly. It's because that's also why I don't want to have staff, other people. Yes.

NALEE

I guess that's a really good point. Yeah, I do agree. But I think the business ideas that I've had, it doesn't include other people working under me. It's just me.

ANTHONY

So I guess that's the way cheers to that. That's the way to go.

NALEE

Period. Because the thing is, I don't like again. What do I always say? When it comes to my money, it's only mine. Exactly. I don't want other people to have it.

ANTHONY

Exactly. And that's why I would have a problem having people work like work for me or work on it.

NALEE

Because you have to split your sh your pot now.

ANTHONY

No, it's not a matter of splitting the pot. Like, I will pay you. I have no problem paying you for the services that you provide, as long as you're providing good services. But when I'm paying if I'm paying somebody an hourly wage and they're fucking up and it's costing money out of my company. Yeah. Bitch, why am I paying you for fucking up? You think you think you still deserve that hourly wage when you done did just cost me a thousand dollars? Yeah. Hell no. That's that's my fear, and that's where my reservations come in at.

NALEE

Yeah. I don't know if I could share my money. I don't know. Unless you and I win the lottery again, that's equal part, you know, breaking up. That's the only time I will share my money. But you know, when it comes to like my business and stuff, like I just, it's all mine. Damn, I sound selfish as hell.

ANTHONY

I don't think it sounds selfish though, because if it's if it's a matter of like having your own business, yeah. The whole part of that is like it's your business, it's your name, it's you're the person that people are coming to to complain, to give props to. Like, so it it goes beyond money at that point. Yeah. Honestly.

NALEE

I guess you're right. You're right. I'm not wrong for wanting just my own money.

ANTHONY

Yeah, no, you're not wrong. But I do long for the day that I can quit that nine to five job. Getting back to the topic at hand.

NALEE

We're getting close, Boo. We're getting close.

ANTHONY

I will always work. I just don't want to work nine to five.

NALEE

Same. I agree. I think that's one thing I've learned about myself is that like I think I will always work because I can't like sit still.

ANTHONY

Sit still.

NALEE

But I ain't about to work a full last eight hours. Fuck that shit. No. Exactly. That ain't my ideal job. My ideal job is work for maybe 30 minutes, maybe five if I'm really pushing it. If I could just blink and then get money, that I would do that. I lied, I don't like doing anything. Yeah, I don't want to work. I don't if I have to work zero hours and get paid, that's what I would do. But again, if to get money, you have to put in some work. So that's not realistic. Yeah.

ANTHONY

You do have to put in some work.

NALEE

Yeah. Y'all just my br my like train of thought, y'all just heard it all. Like, yeah, I'm crazy.

ANTHONY

I don't think that makes you crazy.

NALEE

I'm crazy and I'm lazy, and I was gonna say some other stuff, but I'm not gonna say it because I don't think that's appropriate. What else you gotta talk about, bro? Bro. Bro, bro. Hey, bro. Bro.

SPEAKER_02

The way you came on at that.

ANTHONY

Well, when you made the comment about blinking, like I knew where you were going with that. And so I just wanted to Google and see if I could find out, like, on average, we're going back to that Elon Musk. According to this, if you put his baseline into perspective, he makes $3.6 million per hour.

NALEE

What the fudge?

ANTHONY

That's obviously that obviously varies with like the the stock market performance and like all of that stuff.

NALEE

But that's a lot, though. I don't give a shit.

ANTHONY

That's what I'm saying. That's a lot. Three points, what $3.6 million an hour?

NALEE

Yeah, that's an hour.

ANTHONY

Bitch, I will work a day. Give me that salary. I will work a day and I'll be done for life. Yeah. I would be done for life.

NALEE

Yep. Beachfront property, here I come.

ANTHONY

Retirement. Here I come. Vacation. Exactly. Here I come.

NALEE

Anything, here I come. Yeah.

ANTHONY

Anything but work, here I come.

NALEE

Here I come. Exactly.

ANTHONY

But yeah, that's all I had. It's I want to encourage everybody to continue to fantasize about quitting their nine to five jobs.

NALEE

Yeah. Stay in this delusion with us. It's gonna happen, y'all. Soon, soon, soon.

ANTHONY

My last part of that delusion is if and when that happens.

NALEE

Mm-hmm.

ANTHONY

I'm gonna have uh I cannot wait for the I quit.

NALEE

Same uh.

ANTHONY

Oh my god.

NALEE

Like, I'm not gonna even do the two weeks. I can even give you the warning. I'm gonna be like, hey, by the way, it's 4 56 p.m. and I quit. Uh goodbye.

ANTHONY

You're gonna finish the day out?

NALEE

Well no. I'm just saying the time right now. I you know, like if I was to, you know. But yeah.

ANTHONY

Yeah. I'm deucin out. You're like, yeah. Sorry, bro.

NALEE

Sorry, bro. Bro. Sorry, bro. Okay.

ANTHONY

So yeah, that's all I had. If you don't have anything to add on any of those topics, we can move on to yours.

NALEE

Okay. I don't have anything else. I think we've already it's kind of similar to what you've covered already, but I have two topics. One is hustle cult hustle culture versus work-life balance.

ANTHONY

I thought you were stroking out again. I was like, It looks like I have a dead body, but it's not.

NALEE

It's just my pillow in the back, if you guys are wondering. Anyway, it's not.

ANTHONY

It's probably Polly. He wept over her head.

NALEE

Polly's in the fucking living room. And then the other one was turning every hobby into a business. We've already talked about it. I think obviously my nails, tarot. I wanted to do like really stupid clips, but I don't think I'm creative enough for that.

ANTHONY

What do you mean, clips?

NALEE

And like, you know the the girl that you always watch that you always sent to me, that like the young, dung, the Asian. Linda Dong. Linda Dong. I wanted to do like stupid videos like that, but I'm not creative enough like her.

ANTHONY

Yeah, I know. Me neither.

NALEE

I feel like we'd be really good friends though. I'm not gonna lie. I feel like if we met each other, I would love to be friends with her. Yeah, I feel like we would we would click. Like, I think we'd be really good friends. But yeah, those are the my topics that I was gonna talk about. But then again, we've already kind of talked about it where I do want to turn it, you know, eventually into a business. Well, I had that like thought process. Obviously, it's not too late. I wanted to turn, you know, my nail stuff into like a little shop or a business that I could just do myself. And then the whole the whole. I don't know why I keep wanting to say hustle, but it the hustle culture. Hulf. It's good culture. The hustle culture versus work-life balance is like I think for me, like I don't mind doing the grind because I I love money. I don't mind doing the grind. I like working overtime. I think I'm more but but if I had the choice to not work, bitch, I'm out. Deuces. Yeah. If I talked about it like how I wanted it to, how I wanted it to, or what I had in mind. But at this point, I'm sure you guys have been noticing my ADHD kicking in because I'd be moving like it's a good idea. It is what it is because it is. But it is what it is, is what it is. Is what it is.

ANTHONY

Yeah, I always say it wrong.

NALEE

It's okay.

ANTHONY

So two things on that. I don't remember now.

SPEAKER_02

Buildup was so good.

ANTHONY

Well, I was gonna say, because you were like, I don't mind the hustle, but earlier you were like, I want something fast, quick. And that's why I was stressing. I was like, slow and steady wins the race. So you can't. That's why I said there's no core.

NALEE

If I had the option to, though, I wouldn't do anything. I just, you know.

ANTHONY

That was the other thing that I was gonna say. When people are like, I hate work. You and the rest of the fucking world, nobody wants to work.

NALEE

You said that you wanted to work.

ANTHONY

Because I have to work. We all have to work. If let me okay, let me rephrase that. If I could live comfortably, not have to worry about, you know, rent or mortgage or a car payment or insurance or medical bills or and I had no financial responsibility, sure. Sign me the fuck up. I will gladly sit on my ass in the living room if I can make money watching YouTube. Yeah. Like, fine. I don't give a shit. But nobody wants to work. The the bottom premise, like the the bottom line. Y'all, I got a speech impediment and this bitch is making fun of me. Everybody come for her right now. The bottom line is that at the end of the day, nobody wants to work. We don't have to. We won't.

SPEAKER_02

I turned into a strawberry.

NALEE

Holy shit. Oh my god. My face is all red. That was that was such a good laugh.

ANTHONY

I was having a s I was literally stroking out and having a speech impediment, and you laughed at me. Do you all know viewers, listeners, do you notice the difference when she's stroking out? I'm like worried. I'm like concerned. Oh, is she okay?

NALEE

I'm stroking out, and she's like, It's because it's because I know how it feels like to stroke out.

ANTHONY

I can make a comment.

NALEE

That was so funny.

ANTHONY

And by the way, I was watching you speak earlier, and I I wanted I didn't want to interrupt you, but I wanted to say you look really beautiful today.

NALEE

Oh, thank you. I don't have any makeup on.

ANTHONY

Your hair looks amazing.

NALEE

Mas mascara. Your face looks like maybe a little blush.

ANTHONY

I never would have guessed.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

You look so pretty right now.

NALEE

Thank you. Thank you. I don't know why my eyes are like very like sp like spicy. I don't know how to how to describe it, but it's like a it's like it stings. So that's why I keep huh?

ANTHONY

Did you just rub your eyes?

NALEE

No, it's just I don't know what it is, but I think it's because my eyes are sweaty right now. But like it like stings, so that's why I keep like closing my eyes really hard.

ANTHONY

That's what I was doing when you were over here this last weekend. Because I was like, I put sunscreen on, and then I must have rubbed my eye, and it got in my eyes, so they were burning, and I was like trying not- Yeah, that's me this whole episode.

NALEE

I don't know what it is, but yeah, thank you. I appreciate that. She she looking good.

ANTHONY

She looking good. I was just gonna say, yes, ma'am.

NALEE

Yes, ma'am. You looking good too, boo.

unknown

Thank you.

ANTHONY

Skinny meanie over there. Look at us.

NALEE

No, literally, every time I see you, every time I see you, you look skinnier and skinnier.

ANTHONY

I wish that were the case because I've like plateaued.

NALEE

Same.

ANTHONY

Trying to, but yeah, but look at us.

NALEE

Um who would have thought? Not me.

ANTHONY

I would have. I knew. It was only a matter of time. True. What else you got?

NALEE

That's it. Those are my two topics.

ANTHONY

Okay. Should we move on to our our next segment then?

NALEE

Yes, let's move on to the third.

ANTHONY

Our third and final segment of the day. Reality check. In case our listeners didn't know, money fucking talks. So let's take the time and face some fucking reality.

NALEE

I personally rather not. The what is it? Afterpay and PayPal credit will talk for me, but I guess proceed.

ANTHONY

I I will. I will. You keep using that karma, you keep using that after pay. But let's talk about the part that nobody posts online.

NALEE

Oh, you mean like the spreadsheets, the freaking bills, and pretending not to look at my credit card balance? That part.

ANTHONY

Okay, well, there's a little trick there. You just don't look at your credit card balance. You just make the payments, but don't look at the balance.

NALEE

I don't know. I feel like for me it's really hard not to. Yeah. Because I think that's kind of what motivates me to pay it off. Yeah. And they don't, they don't, there's no way to not see it. You know what I mean? Like what you're saying. You log in, it's like bam, right there.

ANTHONY

Yeah. Well, I mean, you I mean you could just set up your auto pay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That's true.

ANTHONY

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah.

ANTHONY

I just really don't like looking at my credit card balanced because it just does nothing but go up.

NALEE

Yeah. I'm gonna take my glasses off. I'm gonna see. I like I don't know what's going on with my eyes, but if I'm squinting a lot, I can't see anything.

ANTHONY

So well, stop touching your eyes for starters.

NALEE

I know, but it's like there's tears under yours. I have to wipe it.

ANTHONY

But use a Kleenex. Because you're getting oils on your fingers and your eyes.

NALEE

I don't want to give y'all a show.

ANTHONY

Hold on. I can't. I'm not asking you to like blow a wad into a Kleenex.

SPEAKER_04

Hold on.

ANTHONY

I'm just kidding. Oh, I get it now. Yeah, I have to get up.

NALEE

I have a look.

ANTHONY

Just yell for Polly. We'll time out. See, this is why you don't let a guy shoot on your face.

NALEE

Ew. I don't let anybody shoot on my face. It's always in my mouth or in me.

ANTHONY

Oh my god.

NALEE

But I's shh just kidding.

ANTHONY

I'm leaving that in the pod.

NALEE

Oh, it's because I have a piece of hair in my eye. Condom it. I'm stupid. Okay. What are you gonna leave in the pod? About how you either swallow it, you like it, swallow it, or in you I mean, on my face isn't bad, but then again, it fucks up my makeup, so. Okay.

ANTHONY

Back to life.

NALEE

Back to reality. Okay.

ANTHONY

Okay. So what did you have for this segment?

NALEE

For this segment, I had emergency funds or lack thereof. And what I wanted to talk about that was does anybody have an emergency fund? Unless you have like, I don't know, a golden spoon in your mouth. You have an emergency fund?

ANTHONY

Yeah.

NALEE

Is it Richard?

ANTHONY

No. So I I'm okay. I'm gonna take this opportunity to to suggest a little put you on sort of thing.

NALEE

Let's hear it. Put me on.

ANTHONY

So there is an app that I signed up for. Mind you, it I will tell you guys right now, my emergency fund isn't it would have to be a really small emergency. I think it's at like $36.

NALEE

Hey, that's better than nothing.

ANTHONY

I'm just kidding. It's not, it's a little bit more than that. But $7 and 18 cents.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Okay. Big money, baby.

ANTHONY

Download the app. It used to be called something else, but

Reality Check On Bills

ANTHONY

now it's called Opportune. O-P-O-R-T-U-N.

NALEE

Okay. And I'll put the link upon his screen somewhere.

ANTHONY

I can I'll put the app icon if I can find it. But it's just an app that you like hook up to your bank and it pretty much just monitors your account and your spending and it looks at how much you have in your account and it will randomly, almost I would say probably daily, if you set it up that way, it'll pull out just little bits of money and move it into this. You can create a fund. So like I have mine created. I created a rainy day fund. I created an emergency fund. And then I created, well, this is for work, but I created a Teams Awards fund. Okay. So every day it'll pull, it might pull like $10 out of my account. And it'll put, you know, $4 here, $3 here, and $3 here. Nice. So there's a little put you on. I highly recommend that. And then it's easy if you ever want. You just go to the fund and you can like withdraw your money. There's no hidden fees unless you like need money right then and there. And you can even set it up so that like if your bank whatever bank account you hook up to it, if your account drops below a certain amount, it'll pull money from your fund and put it back in your bank account.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, nice.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

So I would recommend that, but I do have an emergency fund. Yes.

NALEE

Nice. I love that. Well, I can't speak on myself that I have an emergency fund, but once I win the lottery, baby. There's gonna be all sorts of funds.

ANTHONY

Yes. But right there with you. Yeah, savings.

NALEE

Exactly. I mean, obviously, I would love to be able to save, but right now, it just ain't it just ain't happening. Life is it's rough in these streets.

ANTHONY

It's rough in these streets. Try it. So you should, I'm I'm just gonna throw it out there.

NALEE

But I will I I think I'll definitely try that out.

ANTHONY

You should check that out, yeah. Yeah. Because you can set all the controls and like just look into it. There's my two cents. There's my pair of pennies on that.

NALEE

I love it. What else? I loved your two pairs of cents.

ANTHONY

And then acorns, if you haven't already signed up.

NALEE

Oh yeah, I've heard of acorns. Acorns.

ANTHONY

Yeah, that comes out of my checking as well.

NALEE

And isn't penny hoarders another one? I've heard of that. I think penny hoarders. I thought.

ANTHONY

Is that an app?

NALEE

I think it's kinda like yeah, I think it's

Emergency Funds And Saving Apps

NALEE

kind of like an app. I think it's kind of like acorns.

ANTHONY

Okay.

NALEE

Yeah. I don't know how it works, but I just I just heard about it. Or I've heard about it.

ANTHONY

Yeah, I've I've heard about it, but I haven't like I thought it for some reason I thought it was a website, but maybe, yeah. Or maybe I'm thinking of something else.

SPEAKER_02

No, I thought it's joking out.

ANTHONY

Karma's a bit.

NALEE

Yeah. But if the audience has any like put you on or any advice, financial advice, yeah, send them our way. Yeah. I think that'd be nice. I mean, it'd be really nice if y'all like shared and liked and subscribed and like that idea even more. You know, if y'all did that, I think we'd be fine. But I think that's really hard for some of you guys to do. And, you know, I'm very sorry that it's so hard for you guys to like and share sometimes.

ANTHONY

But now we're losing listeners. We're actively losing listeners right now.

NALEE

If y'all got some put me on's in regards to financial like advice, growth, wellness, advice, counseling. Exactly. Yeah, just let us know. Put it in the comments. Email us again at twin theofficialtwin tangents. The officialtwin tangents at gmail.com. Put it on our socials, do what you gotta do, or do what you ain't supposed to be doing. Yeah, what you ain't doing. But yeah, do you have anything else to add to that before I move on to my next topic?

ANTHONY

I did have something. The only thing that I was gonna say to that, because you asked in the beginning, you're like, who has an emergency fund? I always wondered that. I've always wondered who just has an emergency fund. And only because I'm like, and maybe this is because of my like, what's the word I'm looking for? Like how there's like poverty level, like there's different levels, like so is it socioeconomic levels?

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Yeah. So like maybe, maybe it was just the class or the socioeconomic level that I was brought up in. But I just remember as a kid, like I was raised by my grandma. I'm sure I've talked about it before. My listeners know, you know. Yeah, we weren't very wealthy. We were probably at the poverty level, if not below it. But we were comf we were we were comfortable. We were rich in other ways, as people would say. But like we never had an emergency fund. So it was always like anytime something happened for my grandma, you know, something went out on the car or an unexpected expense. She never had an emergency fund. She was essentially living off of her social security, which what, a thousand dollars a month, if that like. So I always wonder like, who do a lot of people have, especially nowadays, people living paycheck to paycheck? And like where we're at in society, are are there people out there that have an emergency fund that aren't relying on credit cards to survive?

NALEE

Yeah, that's a really good question. Yeah. I would hope that like in the near future, I will be able to afford a emergency fund or like this thing says, or lack thereof. But yeah, I'd be interested to know too. I know like for my parents, we're kind of like in the same situation where, you know, my parents are first generation. They moved here, they literally have to start from scratch. Yeah. But, you know, they were able to save money somehow. I know they had emergency funds, but then again, like my parents are very frugal too. So I think that definitely helped. They spending money on fucking Klarna like I am. So I mean, they're doing something right. But yeah, I'd be interested to know too.

ANTHONY

Yeah. And then my second question to that is is, and you might even be able to answer this, uh, maybe. What is considered a good emergency fund? Because if you think about it, there's an amount? Yeah, like an amount because there's different emergencies. Are is your emergency fund gonna cover your car broke down and you have to get or you have to get new tires? Is your emergency fund gonna cover a house fire and okay, we need to rent a place now for a few months? Is it like what is a good amount for an emergency fund?

NALEE

For me, I always have like the rule of three. So whatever your most expensive bill is, so obviously it's gonna be like your mortgage or your apartment. Yeah. Right. So it'll be three times that. That would be my emergency fund. It'll make me feel safe enough where I could afford, obviously, if I needed to move somewhere. I needed to. If I needed to pay anything, I already know that I'm saving it up to the maximum amount that I need to pay any kind of bill, but there's three times that. So I'm able to kind of like survive, I guess, for maybe like two, three months. That's my rule of thought. That's a good way to look at it.

ANTHONY

Can you s well, I don't know. That's why I was asking the question. I really don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Because there's just like I said, there's so many factors that can go that you can be have an emergency fund for to cover. Car expense, a car issue, your mortgage, your rent. God forbid, if somebody were to end up in the hospital unexpectedly, like to get an emergency fund that's enough to cover, you know, some sort of major accident.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

I don't know. And I I never really thought about it. But again, I've also never had an emergency fund.

NALEE

Yeah, that's a good question.

ANTHONY

So yeah. Okay, what else did you have to talk about?

NALEE

I re we I feel like we've already kind of talked about this, but the other topic I had was saving versus living. I guess it kind of correlates, but not really. For me, what I wanted to talk about was I think I'm a really big believer in you only live once. Like if you really want something, just do it. Like money, you could work for money, but you cannot work for your time back. So, you know, like I get it. Sometimes you gotta eat the ramen noodles for like two months, but if you really want to go on that trip and ramen or something, you know, like do what you gotta do. Like you only live once, and again, you could die tomorrow. So, yes, save is saving is good. Right, saving is good, but at the same time, you only live once. So, yeah, that's what I wanted to talk about in regards to that part.

ANTHONY

I agree with you wholeheartedly. And you know, one thing that I've noticed before I go off on this tangent here, one thing that I've noticed in like playback is and again, call me a narcissist, I don't care. I feel like sometimes I start getting a little preachy. Well, you you could have defended me there instead of agreeing with me, but that's fine. No, I'm just kidding.

NALEE

What do you mean? What do you I was gonna tell, I thought you were gonna like elaborate, so I was like, I'm listening.

ANTHONY

No, I am. So I knew it. I knew what you meant.

NALEE

I was just sorry you blew up.

ANTHONY

Sorry if I can listen to you, a little bee-ish. But like, I feel like sometimes I'm always like, I always use the the language like now that I'm older, or like, like I'm so old and I'm so wise, which I'm really not. But and the reason I preface with us is because that's what I'm about to do. Is it's true. Now that I'm getting older, you only live once. And I I'm starting to realize that the older you get, you start to realize more and more about the inevitable. And that you are just on on borrowed time. And it is true what they say. Like when you're younger, you live your life carefree. You don't have you don't have a worry. You go out there and you you do stupid shit that you wouldn't think of twice. Yeah. But now that I'm like, okay, so I'm approaching 40.

NALEE

Beautifully. Yeah.

ANTHONY

Beautifully, thank you. If you think about it, I don't know what the average lifespan is now. If you want to Google it, like feel free, but like I'm gonna turn I turn 40 next year.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Which is half of 80. Are you Googling it?

NALEE

Yeah. It's saying here the average global human life expectancy is about 72 to 40. Whoa, 72 to 74 years. However, the exact number depends on heavily oh my god, it depends heavily on your location. So for example, in the United States, the average life expectancy is at a record high of 79 years old.

ANTHONY

79 years old.

NALEE

Yeah. Oh, really? In America? Yeah. For women, it's 81.4 years, and men is from 75.8 to 76.5 years.

ANTHONY

Okay. So if we say 80, I'm I'm literally midlife. I'm one year away from midlife.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And when you think about it in those terms, like as you get older, it's like

Saving Versus Living Debate

ANTHONY

you start valuing. It's scary. It is scary because you you always think when you're younger, you're like, I'm gonna live forever. Nothing can hurt me. And it's true what they say, that as you get older, you start, you're, you start to appreciate things differently and you start to appreciate things more. And that's, I think, is why I kind of appreciate my time at home versus going out now. I I've I've become more of a homebody. I've I've started doing the the bird watching that you give me shit for, me and Courtney shit for, the gardening, the house stuff. Like this is my sanctuary, right?

NALEE

Yeah, you start to really appreciate the little things.

ANTHONY

Yeah. So it's and you start to realize you only live once. So do it up, do what you can do. But at the same time, like I ain't gonna fucking go skydiving.

unknown

Yeah.

ANTHONY

I'll tell you that right now.

NALEE

Okay. I I have something to add, but I'm gonna let you finish.

ANTHONY

Oh, I was done. Like it's just I feel like and I I don't mean to generalize or feel like I'm speaking for everybody, but as somebody who was once 21, when you're younger, you think you know, you hear all these stories about people going through a midlife crisis. You think, well, midlife is 50, right? Because most people think we live like the average is 100 when it's actually not. So you reach that midlife before what you actually thought was midlife. I don't know, I'm just word vomiting right now, but I feel like you guys are getting what I'm picking, you're picking up what I'm putting down.

NALEE

Yeah, we're smelling what you're stepping in.

ANTHONY

We're smelling what I'm stepping in, tasting what I'm cooking.

NALEE

It's just yeah, yeah. Yeah, life really is short. I think that is it's kind of beautiful and it's kind of scary at the same time because you kind of reflect on, okay, what have I done that I'm proud of? What have I done that I'm not proud of? What can I do or what can I tell myself to forgive myself and and whatnot? What can I move on from? And what I wanted to bring up was, you know, like I think that's I'm not saying that I I'm not much further from you. I'm like 33 right now. So, and again, I could die tomorrow for all I know. I mean, knock on wood. But there's literally wood right in front of me, but I have to reach over there. So stupid.

ANTHONY

But anyway, I knocked on it for you.

NALEE

Thank you. But like, I think that's what really helped me get over my divorce because I'm like, there's this thing that I saw, like, when I was going through that time where this girl, she did a video and she's like, Yeah, you feel like you wasted 10 years of your real life, but thank God it's not your it's hold on, how did she say it? She said, Yes, you've been in a relationship for 10 years, but thank God it's not your whole life. You've been at a job that you hate, but thank God you're not staying there for the rest of your life. You know, like you have time to change, you have time to grow, you have time to do things you actually want. And you have the opportunity to change that for yourself. So again, if you were in a dead-end relationship for 10 years, thank God it's not the rest of your life. If you're in a job that you hate, but you can get out of, thank God you're not working there for the rest of your life. Yeah. Like if you're in a bad situation, thank God it's not gonna be for the rest of your life because you could change that, you know? So I think it's just kind of the perspective of honestly being grateful for what happened, giving yourself grace, right, and realizing that yes, this has happened in the past, but there's so much more to look forward to in the future. And thank God you're not doing that for the rest of your life, you know?

ANTHONY

No, I agree with that. And I I I'm just gonna also say, like, as far as you go, you you had made the comment, you're like, I'm not that far behind you, you're right.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And I I can correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like the last two, three years, like I've seen a change in you. So I feel like you you're at that, at, or if not, have passed that threshold where you're starting to see these things.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Whereas like you're like, I'm not getting any younger, I'm not gonna live forever. You're starting to feel the pressure. And I feel like the older that we get, the more that we're taking an inventory of like, okay, what have I done with my life? What am I unhappy with in life? What do I want out of life? And now that it's like for I mean, not to turn the shop to again turn the topic again at me, but like, yeah, okay, so I'm gonna be turning 40. That literally is midlife. You just looked up the the average lifespan of an American.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

So I'm I'm midlife. So half my life is already over. Half my life is left. I'm past, I'm gonna be past a half waypoint. What do I want? And now it's like, I know I said slow and steady wins the race, but it's like, okay, now I feel the pressure to make the things that I want out of life happen.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

unknown

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And had I seen this or known this sooner, I probably could have started sooner. But I didn't.

NALEE

And that's okay. You people get there at different times.

ANTHONY

Exactly. And that's okay because what what have we said before? You can start over at 25, you can start over at 35, you can start over at 45, you can start over at 55, which is fine. But again, we only have one life. So do what we will with it. Live life.

NALEE

Do what you gotta do.

ANTHONY

Do what you gotta do.

NALEE

I did want to add one more thing to that, and then we can move on to our next if you don't have anything else to add.

ANTHONY

Yeah.

NALEE

But I completely forgot my train of thought.

ANTHONY

So sorry, I was blathering on.

NALEE

Okay, no, I remember what it was. Okay, so and I it's funny we're talking about this now because literally like the past week, I think I had like an epiphany. Um, you know, like when you we grew up thinking about, oh, like how would what would what would other people feel if you did this? Or what, you know, like we think about what other people would feel like, but what about what I feel? Like, you know, like for example, like obviously, you know, I'm like dating around and stuff, but I'm here questioning, like, oh, like, am I making somebody feel uncomfortable? Am I being too weird? Blah, blah, blah, but do I even want this? What do I want? How do I want my man to be? How do I want my life to be? How do I want to make like what can I do to make myself happy? You know, and I think I've done like a lot of shadow work, if you say so, in regards to like, what do I want? What about me? Like, you know, we grow, you and I, we're similar in this part. We're like, we're we used to be people pleaser. We're growing out of that. And I think my biggest thing that hit me was, yeah, it is, you know, like you are right. What do I want? Like, what about me? You know, like I've been thinking about everybody as right. And I've been doing all these things for other people. I'm I've been living a certain way to make other people happy. You know, I've been trying to make other people but happy, but at the same time, like, what about me? What makes me happy? And I think as you grow older, you realize that like all that shit is superficial because at the end of the day, what about me? What am I gonna do for myself? How am I gonna make myself happy? And again, what do I always say? At the end of the day, you are alone in your thoughts. Are you happy with who you are? Are you happy with what you have? And are you proud of yourself? Are you happy of who you are? And, you know, like I've been thinking, and I'm just like, yeah, you know, like, just in regards to the dating part or whatever, like, I'm out here being like, oh, like, am I too broken? Am I too fucked up? Am I too like this? Am I too that? But at the same end of the day, what I really should be asking myself is, are these men even worth my fucking time? Like, you know, like, do I even like who I am when I'm with this person? Or do I even like who they make, or do I even like how they make me feel? Or, you know, like it's not that I'm depending my happiness on them. No, I can make myself happy. I'm self-sufficient emotionally, financially, mentally, physically, whatever. But are they gonna add to me? You know, like, and we can broaden that out too. Like going on this trip, is it gonna give me happy memories? Hanging out with these people, giving my oh my god, that was a huge as fit, giving my time to these group of people. Like, is that gonna make me happy? Yeah. If is it draining my energy? Is it making me feel better or worse? Like when I leave a certain situation, how do I feel about it? Reflect on that. And, you know, like I've been doing a lot of that, and I've come to realize that like it's gonna make me sound very cynical, but a lot of the things that I've been coming up with and thinking about, they don't feed me anymore. Like it doesn't, like at this point, it really is what benefits me, you know.

ANTHONY

I don't think that that sounds cynical at all. Sorry, I didn't mean to cut you off. Go ahead.

NALEE

No, it's okay. I thought in my head it would sound like,

What About Me And People Pleasing

NALEE

damn, bitch, you like self-centered as fuck.

ANTHONY

But no, I can see why you would think that would sound cynical, but I don't I personally don't think that it sounded cynical because you've grown, you've you've transitioned, transitioned into a new stage of life.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And so I think you hit it right on the head when you were like essentially what I got from that was the stuff doesn't serve me anymore. It's not filling my cup anymore. And that's fine because that's part of the conversation that we've had before about how it's like with friends our paths may go different ways. I don't have anything against you. We don't nothing happened. It's just life. We grow, we change, we find new things. That serve us. And I really liked what you said. And I feel like this can be like a new like Twin Tangents mantra, which I'm sure some other podcast probably has or something. But like, what about me?

NALEE

Yeah, what about me?

ANTHONY

What makes me happy? What do I want? And like I said, it's okay to be selfish. And I feel like there's some sort of stigma around that because as a kid, I don't know about you, but for like me, there was always like, well, you're being selfish. Don't be selfish, Anthony. Don't do this.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And so there's this stigma mentally where we're like, okay, we can't be selfish. We have to be people pleasing. We have to be, we can't be self-serving. We have to do for others. We have to give we have to share the gaming remote. We like.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

No, what about me? It's okay to be selfish.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Take that, listeners. Thank you.

NALEE

Yeah. Yeah. Take that, listeners. But what I wanted to circle back around was the living part of it. The saving versus living. I think like money plays a huge role. It assists, though, and the living part. And I think that like, yes, it's important to save. It's important to have that emergency fund. But at the same time, again, money assists your living. Treat yourself. Right. Treat yourself. And yeah, I mean, I lost my train of thought, but that's all I wanted to say is that like saving is good, but at the same time, you also have to live a little bit too. Because we could die tomorrow.

ANTHONY

It's a it's a balance. It's a balancing act. You have to be fiscally and financially responsible.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

But still enjoy your life. Live your life.

NALEE

Do a little coke a little bit here and there. That's okay.

ANTHONY

Only on New Year's.

NALEE

Yeah. I'm just kidding. And then if you don't have anything to add, I'm just going to bring my last topic really quick.

ANTHONY

I do have one thing that I want to add. This is totally a tangent and totally random. But you were just talking about sniff snorting Coke.

NALEE

Doing Coke, yeah.

ANTHONY

I was watching TikTok and I came across, it was on a podcast where they were talking about some guy apparently did Coke off his boss's dick. A holiday dick.

NALEE

Just giving white lotus.

ANTHONY

That's what I was thinking. Yeah. I was like, you did what off your boss's what? Must be nice. I don't know that I want to do Coke off my boss.

NALEE

I wonder how long that line of Coke was.

ANTHONY

It's a very good question.

NALEE

Yeah. I mean, I'm I'm just gonna put it out there, listeners. I've never done Coke. I feel like it'd be an interesting experience. I think I'd be too chicken shit to actually do it. But I still have the curiosity of thinking, how long was that line of Coke? Because I wonder how big his D Bas's dick was. That's pretty much it.

ANTHONY

Right. Well, and then my my follow-up question to that would be I'm going into detail now. So you've never done it. So normally what people do, and you'll see this in movies, so it's not from first hand experience.

NALEE

Hypothetically.

ANTHONY

Hypothetically speaking, what they do is they'll like have the mirror, right?

NALEE

And they'll Oh, we're gonna have some visual representation.

ANTHONY

We're gonna have visual re Yeah, even have a straw like this. So you're gonna have your mirror and they'll like do the line. But then what they do is they'll like Do they do it through the nose or the mouth? The nose. But well, and then what they would do is they would clean any residue off the mirror and you gum.

NALEE

Why would they do that?

ANTHONY

Because you're still ingesting it. You can still like you don't want to eat coke, but you like eat the residue.

NALEE

What does it taste like? That not that you know, but hypothetical that you've heard of.

ANTHONY

I can't even remember what it tasted like.

NALEE

I think we have this conversation. You said it tastes medicinal, right?

ANTHONY

Yeah, I want to say it was medicinal. And it was like But anyway, so that was let's bring Scoot into this conversation.

NALEE

He would know.

ANTHONY

That would be my She gonna kill you.

NALEE

Yeah. Let's um let's bleed that name off. No.

ANTHONY

Nobody knows who Scoot is.

NALEE

People don't know who Scoot is. Okay, yeah.

ANTHONY

Scootabrawn. It's Scootabrawn. That's what we're talking about.

NALEE

You're right, you're right.

ANTHONY

Okay. But that would be my follow-up question would be did he gum it from his boss's dick?

NALEE

Like, can you just lick it? If that's the point, because it's already like going in your mouth?

ANTHONY

Could, but would you lick your boss's dick?

NALEE

If he took a shower, maybe. I don't fucking know. How much am I getting paid here?

ANTHONY

You're not getting paid anything. You just got to do a line of coke with your boss at a holiday party.

NALEE

I don't know what that means.

ANTHONY

I don't know. That depends, I guess.

NALEE

I don't know what the measurement of that means. I have to have some kind of like measurement on that. Like, is that a good or a bad thing? Hypothetically speaking, is that a good thing? Like you did a line of coke with your boss? Is that a good thing? I don't know that it would does it mean that you guys are tight.

ANTHONY

You know, like I would think well, okay, I'm gonna say this. If your boss is letting you do a line of coke off of his dick, I think you guys are on good terms.

NALEE

Okay, well, if that's the case and we're on good terms and and you're doing it off his dick, I'm gonna assume that you're sucking his dick into your fucking because you ain't just gonna be doing some random line of coke on his dick.

ANTHONY

Well, that was the whole thing off I'll have to see if I can find the TikTok and I'll send it to you because it was like it was so random and it it he threw in the part that his boss was heterosexual. So his boss was straight.

NALEE

And he's gay?

ANTHONY

I don't know the answer to that. I'm going to assume so.

NALEE

Okay. Audience, whoever's ever done Coke uh with their boss, did you lick or did you gum or did you like suck or snorted?

ANTHONY

I assure you they snorted it and gummed it if it was on a mirror.

NALEE

I'm just saying, if it was me, I would just suck that dick. Easy.

ANTHONY

After you snorted it, right?

NALEE

He could put some of his kids in the mix too. That's okay.

ANTHONY

Oh my god.

NALEE

Mix it up a little bit.

ANTHONY

Anyway, okay. That's a good one. Sorry, that was that was my side tangent. And look where we ended up. Nolly is fucking sucking her boss's dick.

NALEE

Hey, don't be saying that. I'm sucking nobody's dick.

ANTHONY

You literally just said it. Don't be telling, don't be saying that I'm saying it.

NALEE

Don't be accusing me of doing nothing. I'm just saying hypothetically, if that's the case. Don't be getting any ideas here. Anyways.

ANTHONY

I'm just talking hypothetically too.

NALEE

Okay.

ANTHONY

By the way, just a tip for you snort it and then suck his dick if that's what you're gonna do.

NALEE

Why does it go faster?

ANTHONY

Well, the whole purpose is coke, is you snort it.

NALEE

Then why do people even gum it or lick it or suck it? Why do people even do that?

ANTHONY

You're not gumming the coke, you're gumming the residue.

NALEE

Is it so that you don't waste it?

ANTHONY

Yes.

NALEE

Oh. Okay.

ANTHONY

You want to get at all of it. But you don't want to if you have a line that that's that long, you don't want to lick that up. It's not a fucking pixie stick.

NALEE

Never done it before. Okay, think about it. I don't know the thing about it. I don't know that what is it? What do they call it? The logistics of smoking and snorting or sucking coke.

ANTHONY

You snort Coke, you don't smoke.

NALEE

Oh yeah. That's myth.

ANTHONY

Just but think of it this way. You always say how you eat your medicine.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Think if you crushed up like aspirin. Imagine the taste of that in your mouth.

NALEE

I feel like that would hurt if you were to like snort it, wouldn't it?

ANTHONY

Coke?

NALEE

Yeah. Because it's in coca powder and your nose is like wet, so you're sm snorting something dry, wouldn't that fucking hurt? Oh, I have a side question. Just saying. Do people's nose ever bleed from snorting? Yeah. Okay, that's what I'm saying. It seems painful.

ANTHONY

Oh, that depends on how much you do and how often you do it.

NALEE

Hypothetically, has your nose ever bled?

ANTHONY

Hypothetically, no.

NALEE

Okay. Hypothetically, that's really good to know.

ANTHONY

I know. Hypothetically, no, realistically. Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson's daughter.

NALEE

Oh, okay, okay, yeah, yeah.

ANTHONY

She apparently her is it your her septum? Mm-hmm. Has like, I can't, I don't know the proper word, but she has a hole in her septum because she's done so much coke.

NALEE

I thought that's from meth.

ANTHONY

Mm-mm.

NALEE

Oh, so it is from Coke.

ANTHONY

Yeah. Coke and Coke can actually destroy your nose cartilage, I think.

unknown

Yeah.

NALEE

Well, you have a pretty nose. Hypothetically, you did a good job.

ANTHONY

Well, you make it sound like I was a Coke fiend at some point in my life.

NALEE

You're not. We were just speaking hypothetically.

ANTHONY

I know. I know.

NALEE

Just to put it out there, audiences, I'm not accusing anything of an Anthony of doing anything. He's not accusing me of doing anything to my boss. We're just all speaking hypothetically here, okay?

ANTHONY

Well, it's already out there that people like it's already been in a past episode that I've done.

NALEE

I've disabled I haven't done anything like that to my boss. So I would just like to clear the ear.

ANTHONY

I have done Coke less than four times in my life, and all but three or all but one were on New Year's Eve.

NALEE

I've never sucked any boss's dick. Just thought I'd clear the ear.

ANTHONY

Neither have I.

NALEE

You hesitated.

ANTHONY

Well, well, I had to think about it. I've had a lot of jobs. That was pointed out to me previously.

NALEE

Yeah, you did.

ANTHONY

Okay. Anyway.

NALEE

Okay, anyway. My last topic for our last segment is what actually makes someone feel wealthy? I wanted to ask this question to you, Anthony. What makes you feel wealthy?

ANTHONY

It this is a really good question. We should have saved this for last.

NALEE

Okay, we could come back to it.

ANTHONY

No, that's okay because mine's gonna be pretty quick. Just okay Yeah. But anyway, this is a really good question, and I'm really glad that you asked this because I was I I did a little mathematics the other day. I was thinking, I wanted to know what I would have to make hourly or salary yearly to live comfortably and to reach my goals.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

ANTHONY

And so to answer your question in very plain and simple terms, for me personally, what makes me feel wealthy is knowing that I can live comfortably, pay my bills while still being able to save for things that I want out of life or in life.

NALEE

Nice. Okay.

ANTHONY

That is what I would consider wealthy.

SPEAKER_02

Beautiful.

ANTHONY

Yeah, very simple, very straightforward, very to the point. And what about you?

NALEE

Thank you for asking me. For me, I think I probably would agree with everything you just said, but if that never happens, realistically for me is financial freedom. So, yes, I'm gonna have bills. Yes, I'm gonna have like other stresses, but I want to be able to go and buy things that I want that are big item tickets, small item tickets, where I could be like, I'm not gonna have to switch money around. I'm not gonna have to worry about not having enough for that. That for me would be considered wealthy. So let's say if I wanted a TV right now and I was to go to Walmart to go get a $2,500 TV, I could just be like, right. And not have to worry about how am I gonna survive the next four months.

ANTHONY

That, okay, you just put it way better than what I said, but that's exactly what I meant. That is exactly what I was going for.

NALEE

Twin tangents, baby.

ANTHONY

Twin tangents, baby. Twin tangents. Ma'am. But no, that's that's exactly right. Like I want to be able to I want to be able to go to the store, like you said, and get a TV. I need a new TV without having to worry about it. I want to be able to see that this new Royal Caribbean ship is coming out, and I want to be able to go on their website and just book a week-long cruise without having to worry about anything. Just and without having to use a credit card. Yeah. I want to be able to just know that the money is in my account. I've worked it up. I have enough, you know, saved up that I could just here's my debit card.

NALEE

Yeah. Like what we said before. I on a Friday, it's a Wednesday night, and I want to fly to, I don't know, Borough. New York on Friday. The weekend. You know, right. And not have to worry about that. Come back feeling fine, spending as much as I need to while I'm on vacation, coming back. To me, yes, if I was like Elon Musk, becoming a trillionaire, that would be amazing. That'd be Chef's chef's kiss. But realistically, even if I can't even reach that, being able to just

What Feeling Wealthy Looks Like

NALEE

have that financial freedom and not be stressed about what I'm gonna do the next, you know, like I said, the next couple of months or whatever, and having to switch money around. To me, that's more than enough, buddy. That's me capping out saying, Wow, I have a good life. I'm good, like I'm set. Yeah, you know. So period.

ANTHONY

Period. I love that.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Financial freedom is just the best.

NALEE

Period. We're gonna be financially wealthy and we're gonna have financial freedom.

ANTHONY

Please. I welcome it, but Yes.

NALEE

I'm ready to receive that.

ANTHONY

That reminds me. I don't Oh, go ahead.

NALEE

Oh, that's it.

ANTHONY

No, what were you gonna say?

NALEE

I was gonna say I allow that to come into my life.

ANTHONY

I allow that to come.

NALEE

Right now. Yes, manifesting it. Give me the money.

ANTHONY

Make that money move.

NALEE

Period. Alright, so what were your topics?

ANTHONY

Well, we talked about honestly most of my topics. We already talked about the cost of living earlier in the episode, so I'm not gonna revisit that. Okay. Um I'm just gonna briefly touch on this, and if you have anything you want to add to it, feel free. But money guilt after buying something nice.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah.

ANTHONY

That's pretty much I think everybody experiences it. I get it. You get it. Yeah. All right.

NALEE

What did you say? What is it? Buyer's remorse? Is that the same thing as buyer's remorse? Yeah. Yeah. Okay.

ANTHONY

Again, like I said, we talked about most of mine earlier, but the bottom line is if you're buying something nice for yourself, you can get it girl. Exactly. There's always a way to justify it. Treat yourself okay, so you bought yourself something nice this month. Okay, next month, take it easy. Rein it in a little bit.

NALEE

Right.

ANTHONY

It's fine.

NALEE

It's okay. You'll be fine. What because what if you die?

ANTHONY

What?

NALEE

What if you die?

ANTHONY

Had to go dark.

NALEE

Yeah, what if you die and you're like, fuck. When you're your deathbed, you're like, I should have gotten that gold necklace, because now I'll never have it. You know?

unknown

Yeah.

NALEE

You should have been buried in that gold necklace. So now I'm gonna die. I'm never gonna get to see it. What you gonna do? You dead. You ain't gonna get it. Get it now. Save it for later. It's for shock value. That's the only reason why. Honestly, that's the reason why I that's the only reason why I ever say anything is for the shock factor. You're welcome.

ANTHONY

Thank you.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

Namaste away from you.

NALEE

Namaste mama san.

ANTHONY

Mama san.

NALEE

Namaste closer to you.

ANTHONY

Did you have anything else that you wanted to add for that money guilt after buying something? Buyers remember?

NALEE

Um, yeah, I think I think I talk I've probably talked about like in like the I've talked about it in previous episodes.

ANTHONY

Uh-huh.

NALEE

That's when y'all know it's about to be the cap of our episode.

ANTHONY

I know that's when we start losing it.

NALEE

Yeah, that's when we start tweaking out and shit. But um for me, like I be. Hold on. Let me just let me just play it really quick because I know exactly where it starts. This is just a little recap from last week's episode. If y'all don't know, two weeks ago. Uh it's hold on. I gotta make sure this sounds on okay. This I listened to this shit for an hour yesterday. Straight. Because that's how good it was. This is this is our gift from Anthony.

ANTHONY

So some of them, yeah.

NALEE

Some of them are pretty. That's right.

SPEAKER_02

That's how I thought you were the way you said it. Okay. Okay, yeah. Oh, Havey.

NALEE

That's it. I don't even know. Low key, I was looking at the the video yesterday. I don't even know how that happened.

ANTHONY

I told you. I didn't even know that I said it like that.

NALEE

You're like abbey or something like that.

ANTHONY

I'm like that. What's that? Is it Jade Dave Chappelle that has that there's that gif of him like tweaking out and he's got like coke? I don't know. Have you seen that? I'll find that and I'll send that to you.

NALEE

I don't know. I was fucking squatting when I was listening to that because that's how hard I was laughing. Yeah, that shows hilarious. But anyways, I don't have anything else to add. Okay. Um, I think we've pretty much covered all that I wanted to talk about too. Do you have anything else to add?

ANTHONY

I do

Money Guilt And Final Questions

ANTHONY

not. You wanna take us home?

NALEE

Yes. Well, y'all's whether you're saving every penny or pretending your credit card statement doesn't exist.

ANTHONY

Thanks for spending a little bit of your time with us instead.

NALEE

Don't spend your money at happy. But if you're rich, call us, baby. Call me. You don't have to call Anthony, he's taken. I'm single. You can still take me out of dinner. So call call us. Call me.

ANTHONY

Bitch, I don't care if I'm taking it. I like money. Okay. I like money too. Exactly.

NALEE

Exactly.

ANTHONY

What Nolly and I are open for a thruple. We just won't do anything together.

NALEE

Yes, actually, we are. Anthony will do all the action. I'll do all the spending done. You never called it. I called it. Y'all heard it here first.

ANTHONY

You didn't call it, you volunteered me.

NALEE

Yeah. You're taking you taking one foot of both of us. Thank you. Come again. Or call multiple. Hopefully that's it. Yeah, do what you gotta do.

ANTHONY

But with that being said, if you are broke, welcome to the fucking community. We have snacks as long as our thruple mystery partner brings them.

NALEE

True. But also let us know what's the dumbest thing you've ever convinced yourself was a good investment. I can name a few.

ANTHONY

Uh okay. We're gonna pause right there. I want to know what your dumbest thing is that you ever thought was a good investment.

NALEE

I don't want to tell you because you guys are gonna judge me. What is yours? You tell me first and I'll tell you.

ANTHONY

I think the dumbest thing that I've ever convinced myself was a good investment was probably my current car.

NALEE

Your car is a good investment. It's a car.

ANTHONY

It's it's not though, because my car is like since I've gotten it, it's like a p like I'm pretty sure like I would consider it a lemon.

NALEE

Your Elantra?

ANTHONY

Yeah.

NALEE

Oh Carmen?

ANTHONY

Carmen Elantra.

NALEE

Yeah, Carmen Elantra. That bitch has been giving you issues like nonstop.

ANTHONY

Since day one, yeah.

NALEE

Yeah, I guess. I guess.

ANTHONY

So that I think that would be mine, probably.

NALEE

Okay. Yeah, I'm not gonna share mine.

ANTHONY

Oh, no. I lied. I'm gonna change my answer.

NALEE

Okay, okay, okay, okay.

ANTHONY

My education.

NALEE

Ooh, that's a good one. That's a good one.

ANTHONY

All that money. Higher education is a huge scam in this country right now.

NALEE

I agree.

ANTHONY

Yeah. So that's mine. I convinced myself that if I got that degree, I would have a good job. Not that I have a bad job now, but I have a job that I'm not making nearly what I should be making.

NALEE

Yeah.

ANTHONY

And I'm not using my degree.

NALEE

That's true.

ANTHONY

And I've applied.

NALEE

You can't say the same, but yeah.

ANTHONY

For anybody out there who says, get a job using your degree, I have applied for literally thousands of jobs with my degree.

NALEE

I could attest to that. Yeah, I can't say that.

ANTHONY

I can't even get a fucking email that says, fuck you, go sit on a cracker. That's how the job market is. Got ma'am.

NALEE

Got lamb. If they put in the effort to go stay, go sit on a cracker, I'd be like, sir, I'd still come to work for you anyway.

ANTHONY

Yeah. Even if you didn't like me. You want me to sit on a cracker? That's fine.

NALEE

That's the effort that comes from me.

ANTHONY

So you're not gonna say yours?

NALEE

No.

ANTHONY

Okay. I'm gonna text you later and ask you. Getting back into it, I want all of our listeners, please don't forget to rate the podcast and send this episode to a friend who's somehow always buying something.

NALEE

Yes. We'll see you next week for another completely unnecessary tangent.

ANTHONY

And unasked for tangent.

NALEE

Yes.

ANTHONY

It's always an added bonus for all of you.

NALEE

Unsolicited from our MDA LSD DWI, RWI, DC, DWI, BMW degrees. Okay. Okay. All right. Bye.
