The Art of Stress-Free Events: Inside Mod Picnic Company
Ever wondered how to make your special occasion truly memorable without the stress of planning every detail? Chandi Weber has the answer. As the owner of Mod Picnic Co., one of Colorado's original pop-up picnic services, Chandi has mastered the art of creating stylish, stress-free events that allow clients to simply show up and enjoy their celebrations.
Founded in 2021 and serving all of Colorado from their Fort Collins base, Mod Picnic Co. specializes in custom picnic experiences for life's milestone moments. From romantic proposals and intimate elopements to lively bachelorette parties and birthday celebrations, Chandi and her team handle everything except the food. They partner with local businesses like The Welsh Rabbit for charcuterie and area florists to create complete, Instagram-worthy setups tailored to each client's vision. Whether you're dreaming of a garden party theme or prefer a specific color palette, their attention to detail ensures your event perfectly reflects your personal style.
Contrary to common misconception, Mod Picnic isn't a catering service but rather focuses exclusively on creating the perfect ambiance and setting. While their primary clientele comes from the wedding industry, they also accommodate corporate events throughout the year. For Chandi, who works full-time in tech, Mod Picnic serves as a creative outlet that balances her professional life – much like her love for travel and exploring new places balances her entrepreneurial drive. This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Nick George.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a party setup company? Well, one might be closer than you think. Today I have the great pleasure of introducing your good neighbor Chandy Weber, with Mod Picnic Company. Chandy, how's it going?
Speaker 3:It's going good, Nick. How are you today?
Speaker 2:Excellent, having some technical difficulties, but we work through it. Thanks for being patient. We're excited to learn all about you and your business, so tell us about it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, absolutely so. I own Mod Picnic Co. We're located in Fort Collins, but we pretty much serve all of Colorado and we're one of Colorado's original pop-up picnic services. So we've been around since 2021. And we really focus on creating unique picnic experience primarily. So pretty much our style is just curating really stylish, stress-free events for our clients. So anywhere from proposals to elopements, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, etc. We really just try to take the hassle out of it for our clients so that way they can show up and actually enjoy their event instead of having to stress about the details.
Speaker 2:How did you get into this business?
Speaker 3:So it's kind of crazy. How did you get into this business? So it's kind of crazy. So I work full time in tech and Mod Picnic is pretty much my side business that I get to really run on the side and be my creative outlet. But so essentially, a couple of years ago, I found myself just like wanting more of a creative outlet, essentially, and it kind of worked out. A couple was actually selling mod picnic at the time and, um, yeah, it kind of just lined up for them to pass it on and I took it over at that time. So that was a little over two years ago. Um, and, yeah, it's just been fun. I just building, I've been building off of what they've built essentially, and, um, yeah, I've been getting to add my own spin, personal details, style and all of that. So it's been really fun.
Speaker 2:How old was their book of business?
Speaker 3:Maybe you said that twenty to twenty twenty one, and then I purchased it 2023.
Speaker 2:Okay, gotcha, gotcha.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 2:Well, what are some myths or misconceptions in the party event setup world?
Speaker 3:So I would say, specifically for Mod Picnic, just because it's so unique, and I feel like people have a hard time just like grasping exactly what we do and how we serve our clients. One thing I get a lot is thinking we're like a catering company. So we're not. We actually just provide the full setups, um, so we don't do the food ourselves. We do get to work with a lot of local businesses. For example, we work with the Welsh rabbit for charcuterie. Um, we work with, like, local flower spots as well, so we're really connected within the local Fort Collins community, which is nice, um, but yeah, we focus on just creating a unique design, curated for each individual and like what they're looking for for their setup, and we don't do anything with the food, so that one comes up a ton.
Speaker 2:We know that marketing is the heart of every business. Who are your target customers and how are you attracting them now?
Speaker 3:yeah, um, our target customers are really bachelorette parties, like pretty much the bridal industry. So whether you're just trying to celebrate your bridal shower or bachelorette party, so I would say um, anywhere from early 20s to, you know, early 40s. So we have a wide range of like demographics, but I would say primarily the wedding industry, so those couples looking to get engaged um having an elopement, bachelorette parties. But we also do serve, like we did we do a couple um corporate events per year for our clients, as well as birthday parties. So so it is really like widespread, but I would say our primary target is, like the wedding industry.
Speaker 2:Have you ever thought about doing your own podcast?
Speaker 3:I have not.
Speaker 2:Outside of work. What do you do for fun?
Speaker 3:You know I love to travel. I feel like that's why I work so hard. So I have my full-time job and I have my picnic. I'm actually off to Greece and Italy Thursday, which I'm super excited about, but yeah, I just love exploring new places, whether it's a new country, a new city or even Fort Collins. I feel like there's so much new things that are like popping up, and then outside of that, you can probably catch me at a happy hour during a weekday at like right at five. So yeah, that's what I do for fun to let loose.
Speaker 2:Right, shandy, please tell our listeners one thing they should absolutely remember about Mod Picnic Company.
Speaker 3:I would say that it's going to be our attention to detail. So pretty much we've made customized picnics and events tailored to our clients. So whether you have a specific theme in mind so we have like a garden party theme, or maybe you're more of a pink girl, or maybe you just like neutral base we pretty much tailor our picnics to be exactly the way our clients want their event to be, and then we always add in stylish little details along the way. So I would say that's what sticks out the most about Mod Picnic.
Speaker 2:Nice. What's the best ways to get in touch with Mod Picnic company online?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so on our website, modpicnicco is the best way to just learn more about our services, our packages. There's a book now button right on there so you can kind of see the different offerings we have. And then, if you have a super unique event, we do have an inquiry form that you can fill out at any time. We're also super active on Instagram so you can message us at any point in time. Our handle is at modpicnicco and, yeah, we can get back to you pretty much within the same day or within 24 hours.
Speaker 2:Is there a phone number you give out?
Speaker 3:Yes, and our phone number is 970-597-0136. And that's a great number to text or call at any point in time too, about your event.
Speaker 2:Well, Chandi, we really appreciate you being on the show and we really wish you and your company the very best moving forward.
