Meet my sister, Judy (Judith Ann Campbell Graves), who was born in 1944 and is in the silent generation.  She was my first friend in this world, and we were born into a multi-family, large three-story row house at 517 N. Gilmor Street between Edmondson Avenue and Franklin Street. The house had an elegant, long front staircase with a curved banister that led to the living room and a simple back staircase that led to the kitchen--a kitchen filled with sisters talking and laughing and preparing daily meals while we children played all over the house. We lived there with 3 aunts, 2 uncles, 3 cousins until I was 4 in 1953 when we moved to a row house in Cherry Hill. We discuss our lives growing up together, and Judy discusses being bussed from Cherry Hill to Westport, a neighboring community ten minutes away, after the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision that desegregated public schools. We compare our experiences attending Edmondson High School and Towson State Teachers College, now Towson University.
