So if we find businesses in the Southwest Missouri area, then we can sponsor those people or they can sponsor us and we can essentially do more for our podcast and help our community.

Which so which is great because we wanna we wanna do that. We want, and I especially love the mother-daughter aspect because we learn so much from our moms, and I just know through my daughter's eyes, the girl thinks I'm just everything. And my green daughter does that for me too. And so I think it's a very great feeling. Like she'll come up to me and be like, Mom, you're so pretty. And I'm like, No, you're prettier than me. And she we'll just argue about who's prettier. I love it. So I love that. I'm looking forward to that. What else? We've both been busy working, working, working. Uh-huh.

That's been a lot. Working, grandkids, softball. My daughter works full-time, she works in the evening, so I'm home with the grandkids in the evening time and doing dinners and getting them off to bed. So wife has just been a little chaotic. We miss being here with you guys, and like I lost my charger to the computer for a long time. Like, what? And it was in the most simplest place that I just didn't even. Like, I even came over here one day and like looked with her. Yeah, it it was. Just wasn't the right timing, apparently. I what really pushed it was Harper's story. And like that gave us drive because we were helping somebody. Yes. And that we have built this podcast to help people like Harper and Michaela. Yes. And that that's the whole purpose of this podcast. And it felt like we're just never doing things like that right now. Nah. We haven't had a lot of guests. So and we have we do have a line of guests. So I've reached out to two people. One person I did hear back from, which I'm really excited about, and I hope they get to come on our podcast. Um they're local and they um are related to us. They live down in Red Springs area. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Tell me who later. It's a cousin. Okay. Female. Okay. Okay. I don't know. There we have a lot. So she has a story. Okay. She has a story of overcoming. Okay. I know which one you're talking about. And then the other one, I think, just started her own business and caregiving. You're really close to her dad. Okay, yes. So I reached out to her. Also, I haven't heard back from her. Okay.

And we have a few people locally that I've met, and we're gonna start doing some networking with her. So that's gonna be good. And that's a lot of charity stuff. Yes, and a lot of women's conferences and things like that that I think are gonna be really good. And I really want our podcast to be able to give back to our community.

Weight Loss Wins And GLP-1 Talk

So what should we talk about this evening? We did all our updates. You've been on a weight loss journey. I have been. I've lost about 45 pounds in total. Yeah. I'm at my goal weight, so now it's just kind of maintaining, and I need to get a good workout routine to like really just mold my body to what I wanted to be. I will say that in this weight loss journey, I lost my boobs. That usually happens. It does. And I I I mean, I was at like a good C before, and I'm like, I don't really, I don't really got much now.

Well, I've lost 20 something. Yeah, because you're on a weight loss journey too. So like I average about one to one and a half pounds a week. Nice and slow and steady, not too fast. So, and and I like that because I don't want it to go like that.

Yeah, because that's when you get all the hair loss, you get the you get the side effects from all that kind of thing.

So I like that mine it stays steady. It's usually about one to two pounds a week, and it just it's staying steady.

So And that's how mine was. So like mine was very steady and I never really was sick. I did get sick once, yeah. A couple for a couple weeks, but I had to up my dose.

So I just am upping my dose. As soon as I go pick up my prescription this week, it'll be upped. And I know I'll probably like be sick for a couple days.

So I was taking Ratatouli. If you know what it is, you know what it is. I can't say it, but I really personally liked it. I had taken this semi before and it did nothing for me. So I didn't get no side effects really. Like I said, besides when I up my dose and my body's like, mm-mm, that's too much. So I dropped it back down and not really it was just it was fine. I just never had to go over like on that little thing, it was like 10. So 10 units, but that was the highest I ever went. And so I don't think that's a very big dose though, because that's like yeah, it's still little. It's still so little. So I never really and I didn't have a lot of weight to lose. No. Even though when people when I would tell people, they're like, Well, what did you start at? I'm like 195 pounds, and they're like, No, you weren't. I was like, Yeah, I was pushing 200 pounds. They're like, No, you weren't. You did not look 200 pounds. I'm like, Well, thank you. I'm glad I carried my weight well, okay. Yeah. But I was very much close to that 200 pound mark. Yeah. And I was like, mm-mm, not doing it. I had never seen those numbers in my life.

So I had never got as high as I ever had. But mine, I really do blame perimenopause. Yeah. Yeah. Because that's the biggest, I mean, and I've ever been.

I've been told a lot, like, get your weight where you want it to be, get your body where you want it to be before my body goes into there. Because that way when I do hit menopause or do hit pre-menopause, like my body's not like goes overboard. Yeah. So at least I'm, you know, staying active and getting that. Yeah, absolutely. So and just maintaining it. Yeah. So hopefully within the next. I mean, you're 10 years older than me, so in 10 years, hopefully I'm where she's at. But yeah.

Switching Careers Because AI Changed

news. I applied for two different colleges because I decided to just completely switch up what I was going to school for, which is totally crazy. But I think I just got the wind kicked out of me when I didn't get a job that I really wanted. And two, AI is kind of taking away the job that I or what I was going to school for. I'm really not. And I'm even guilty of it. Like, I will use AI because it's faster. Like, I don't have to spend hours making a flyer now. I can just put in what I want it to be and it's there. So like I'm super guilty of it also. But like what I was going to school for, media communications, other than doing the podcast, like that's the only thing I take, you know? So I can continue to do that, which it's perfectly fine. I can edit the podcast, but I also we use AI for our podcast too.

That the system we record on is does all of it for us. Yeah. It does our video clips, it does everything. So like I feel like everything I just went to school for was really pointless for like $60,000. Yeah. So CNA, I'm just going to take what I what credits that will transfer over to an RN, which I think most of my English is and stuff like that, and see where that puts me. I'm either going to do a two-year, so an associate's or do the four-year bachelor's, but I want to see kind of where I'm at. So I applied it two different schools to see which one tells me I would be closer to a graduation. Can I just say this?

You are never too old to follow your dream. Absolutely not. It never matters. It really don't. And I say that because one of my clients a couple weeks months ago, I said something about like, they're like, Do you have did you always want to be a hairdresser? And I was like, no, actually not. Like, I wanted to be a lawyer. And so we were talking about that. She's like, well, you never know. It's never too late to become a lawyer. And I'm like, I feel like it is, but you know, it's not. It's really not. She's proof that like it's not. No. So you never know. Maybe one day I'll do it on the side. Look at Kim Kardashian.

Yeah, and she's older than me. So like it's totally doable. It's totally doable and anything's possible. And then today I was doing one of my coworkers' daughter's hair. And we were talking, and I said something about she's like, she actually wanted to be a doctor when she was little. And I was like, okay, she went to school to become a diesel mechanic. Yeah, it's crazy. And she's like, see, she's like, so you know, I didn't go down what I wanted. And I was like, girl, me neither. She's like, what did you want to do? And I was like, I wanted to be a lawyer. She's like, you would have been a badass lawyer.

Yeah, I think so. So that's like, you know, like, I may be 40 or in my 40s, but there's no timeline when you can go to school. There's not. There isn't. Really, for brain function, it's actually really good to continue education. Yes. Because it's stimulating your brain.

Well, and then go on. And then I had also thought about like seeing about a paralegal program. Yeah. Because that's a start of law. So I've always thought about that too, like in the back of my mind. But I feel like ultimately I probably would have been an attorney a lot earlier in life had mom given me my stuff so I could have gotten financial aid member. She was like, No, you're moving out here, da-da-da. Yeah. To California. And she's like, No, you're gonna go. And I even went to and toured a college out there. But I lived with my boyfriend. My boyfriend, how much? I don't remember what college we went to. It was like a little community college. She's like, This is where you go to school. And like we talked about it, but I didn't want to move out there. Like I ended up not wanting to move out there. Yeah. I wanted to be closer to dad. Like I wanted to stay where home was. Because to me, that's home. Like, here's home. California was home for you. Now it's Oklahoma, but but when you were younger, yeah, California. California is home because that's where you grew up most of your life. Yeah. Where for me, it ended up being here.

And it just doesn't it doesn't feel the same. It's never like just something about dad. And it it probably if my dad lived anywhere else, it that would have felt like home. And so it's just I I just feel so overwhelmed. And I I mean, I love these guys to pieces, but good lord. I'm I'm grandma, but I also am the role of mom when mom is not home. Yeah. So it makes it extra exhausting. And so I I don't get to play grandma at those points. Like I'm mom.

Preparing For Brother’s Trial

on. Well, honestly, yeah, because in August we have our brother's trial, which we've never really talked about that on here. We will talk more about that after everything gets said and done, I'm sure, in August. But I'll be out for out of work for two weeks for that. And that stresses me out because I got a subpoena, which means they're gonna put me on the stand. Yep. And that I've never- I'll be fine. I've had a speeding ticket and I was like, I was guilty of speeding and I paid my fine. So I've never been in like I think the trial is gonna be really hard. I think so too. So if we're just emotionally withdrawn, that's probably gonna be why watches talking. So that'll be kind of why we're withdrawn in in August a little bit. If we do end up just a heads up, but we'll try not to be. We're trying to be positive. My biggest thing is I want trial to happen so we can just kind of I don't wanna say close the chapter, but it kind of is closing that chapter so we can get the closure we need. Yeah. Because we haven't had that yet. Exactly. So I feel like it's just gonna be a lot of emotions at that point. And I feel like that's been on my mind a lot lately. Yeah. Because it it's a lot. I mean, how do you go through a trial of a of a martyr case? I mean, that's what it is. Yeah, yeah. And so we'll see how that goes. And we just pray and yeah, that he gets the justice he deserves. But that's coming up too. So yeah, that's been on my mind, but in

Kids Grow Fast And Chores

positive light. My oldest is going into junior high. He's gonna be playing for the junior high this year. And that is that's a different feeling. Yeah. I feel like my baby's growing up and I don't know how to prepare for this. Like, literally, it just happens and it does. Because, like, why am I I'm sending him to weights for uh football? Because he's doing football. And one day he just comes home and he's like, Mom, look at these apps. What? What boy? You got abs. And he's like so proud of them, and I'm like, that's not my baby. That's a little boy, little man.

Well, it's because they just they laps when I've always told everybody to enjoy them while they're little, yeah, because it literally goes faster than you can blink. Like I I never lie about that because it enough girls that are. 26 and 21. So I fully am aware. And I think that's why the girls always get kind of like, mom, like you're different with Chelsea. Well, yeah, because You didn't realize I I didn't realize it at the time. So now I'm aware of the like, so do I cherish being able to just lay in bed with Chelsea when she wants to lay in bed and just snuggle all day? Absolutely. I'm gonna take it while I can get it because that's just one thing.

It's gonna stop one day. Yes. And that's one thing, like I feel like you always told me, like, because she had already had kids by the time I had my oldest, which Christine was 14 when I had my first. And so she's like, do not take it for granted. She's like, enjoy every moment of it. So still to this day, when he like will be getting up for school and he'll be like, come and crawl in bed with me. I just I don't yell at him and be like, go get dressed, go get ready for school. Like, I enjoy it. Yeah, because you gotta stop and take those moments because those aren't gonna last forever. So, and I look back and I'm like, where did my baby go? Like, where did my baby go? Yeah. And he it's it's different, and it really is different with boys too, because I feel like boys, it happens a little sooner, like wanting to give you hugs, not wanting to give you a kiss. Oh, absolutely. And it's just a boy thing. So, like, it's different. But my like my daughter, she's all about snuggles, all about kissing me, all about loving on me. Until it's not, and until it's not, exactly. So the boys started kind of drawing back around this age. She's eight, and they would just kind of, you know, do their thing. I'd be like, let's snuggle. So we always down to snuggle. My middle one is always down to snuggle, even with a man. Oh yeah, it loves like he loves to snuggle. He is a snuggle bug. And I don't think he'll ever change being a snuggle bug because that's just his personality.

So kids, I feel like it's just always like the thing that we always end up taking for granted is your kids. Like you, some parents end up yelling at them to like stop acting like a baby or grow up or like there's things like that that parents, I guess, end up saying without like meaning it. Yeah. But you're gonna say it one time, like, stop doing that and grow up. And then when they grow up and they're giving you attitudes, you're gonna be like, Man, I wish they'd go back to being five. Exactly.

So um, so a lot of people like I see people like, well, he's the sage that they should be doing this, they should be doing that, they should be doing that. I I disagree with that. I my boys unload and load the dishwasher, like that's their one chore, and they help do their laundry. But I don't over make my kids overdo things, but I want my boys and my aunt and my daughter, I want them to know how to do absolutely not. And that's not expected. Like, no, it is expected, but it's not. And my thing of it is when it becomes expected is when they want money. Yeah, I shouldn't have to tell you to go do the dishes if you want to earn money. And I I really hate money for chores. We could talk about this because I know parents that are like, I don't pay my kids for chores because it's something they're gonna have to do when they get older. And I agree. Like when you get older, you have to do your chore. Like you have to do your housework or you're gonna have a messy house. So why should I pay you to do that when that's just basic skills? I agree. So do I give them an allowance? Sometimes. Sometimes when they need money, I'll be like, well, you can do this for, you know. But I don't want my kids to expect it because that's stuff that they should be doing well regardless when they get older.

If it's extra things. Yes, extra k things. So you want them to, I don't know, just go outside and mow the yard. Mow the yard. Give them some money for that. Yeah. You know, because at the end of the day, they could go next door and pay, do that for the neighbor and they can make money. So you're teaching them to go. Offer a service. Off exactly. So now I'm offering a service to earn money. Also, like Gary Vee tells people like, go out, go take your kids to your cell and let them buy mugs or um baseball cards or something like that. And guess what? They can make an eBay store and sell coffee mugs. Yeah. I mean, there's you can make a lot of money.

And you're teaching your kids to be an entrepreneur. Yeah. So there's so many different things we can do to uplift our children and like keep our kit ch children growing. Mm-hmm. Oh, I gotta check about my way. In the right ways. So I just love that. But there are you know, they're also preteens and teenagers, and yeah. They they Thursdays they just don't want to do nothing. When we do that, I've decided white cabinets because they're clean. My my kids are gonna be older. Yeah, yeah. So my kids are getting older. Yeah, or maybe like I don't want black cabinets. No, don't do black. I want do green or do but or I could do green. Like green would be fine. Like maybe uh I don't want a green, I don't want to light foresty green. Yeah, I'm thinking, but with like a light pink island. Because one, it's not very pink. Yeah, and that's an easy fix. Somebody can just paint it, you know, if we go to resell it, or we could paint it. Yeah, and before we resell it. That's easier than painting a whole kitchen full of cabinets. Yeah. I was talking to one of a one of my contract construction guys that does houses today. And I was like, you know, I was kind of thinking, like, we're gonna resurface our concrete in our garage. Yeah, and we're probably just gonna do epoxy floors because one, if we use it as a rental property, that's gonna not be very hard to maintenance. Maintenance. We'll see. We'll see. But big things, hopefully by next year we'll start being able to remove it.

So the green that I picked out for my cabinet for my island is good to go with the black, and she has like she's designed to my kitchen because listen, I will just have to sweet talk my sweet brother-in-law into when I'm when I go to do this, have her help me pick colors, pick colors or like cabinet styles. Because like in my head, I know what I want, but to execute that and put that onto paper or like explain to somebody what I want, yeah, is hard. Yeah. And I want lots of windows. And he's like, How many windows do you want? I was like, I want as many as you can put in. Yeah. But I feel like we grew up in such a house that's like dad didn't like a bright house. We had a lot of windows. We had a lot of windows, but like at nighttime it was always dark. I like a dark house at night. I want to sit in the dark. But I feel like my house is my house does I mean, you know my house. It feels so dark. I don't think so. You don't think my living room's dark or my kitchen? I just don't I it's got one window. One window in my kitchen, one window in my living room, one window in my bedroom, one window in my kids' bedrooms. And I just I don't feel like your house is actually that dark. I feel like it does. Do you? I do. I feel like it's so dark. I think Laura's house is darker. And that's probably because of all the wood. They got very dark. There's no windows in the kitchen. Yeah, her windows.
