Five kings march to crush Gibeon, but the real contest is between human odds and a divine promise. We walk through Joshua 10 and watch the story bend toward grace: an all-night, uphill march that looks like exhaustion but functions as partnership; hailstones that fall with perfect aim; and a day stretched by God so a promise can finish. Along the way, we strip out the myth that God helps the self-sufficient and return to the better truth—God gives grace to the humble, and faith dares to ask for what promise requires.

From the ground, this looks like a battle report. From heaven’s view, it’s a masterclass in prayer and trust. We explore how Gilgal becomes our pattern for life with God—surrender first, then stride into the works already prepared for us. We connect the victory language of 2 Corinthians 2 to the Roman triumph, showing how union with Christ means we are paraded in his win, not scrambling for our own. That reframes spiritual warfare: we fight from victory, not for it, and the fragrance people sense in us is not willpower, but Jesus.

Then we follow a desperate woman through a crowd to the hem of Jesus’ garment—the “wings” prophesied in Malachi—and watch the Son stop for faith. We lift the curtain in Revelation to hear heaven fall silent for the prayers of the saints, incense added, thunder released. Prayer doesn’t bribe God; it aligns hearts and unleashes what love already longs to do: restore marriages, draw prodigals home, break addictions, and replace fear with courage. If you’ve been trying to “Christian harder,” this conversation invites you to lay down striving, pick up humility and faith, and ask boldly.

If this spoke to you, share it with a friend who needs courage today, subscribe for more, and leave a review with the one prayer you’re asking God to answer next.

Opening Prayer And Theme Tease

SPEAKER_01

Father, I want to thank you so much for your love and your mercy and your grace. And Father, we um we know that you see everything, you see every part of our hearts, and we want uh to be purely, fully, all in, devoted to you. Yes, Jesus, we uh honor you because you have chosen us out of this world to love us, forgive us, and you have called us to live, um, allow you to live through us. So we just open ourselves up to you today, fill us as water fills a cup. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Today's sermon is called What Makes the Sun Stand Still. But today is the only sermon you'll ever know, you'll ever hear that the title of the sermon changes by the end of the sermon.

SPEAKER_02

Okay? Follow me.

SPEAKER_01

Right now it's what makes the S-U-N stand still. But it's gonna change to something else at the end. Ooh, I'm so clever. Thank you. I didn't I didn't want to say that about myself, although Moses did. All right. All right, so five kings are coming to war. It's like a game of thrones. Five nations, five armies, five overwhelming forces. They're all moving towards one city that's made peace with the people of God, the Gibeonites. They have decided they want to be a part of God's kingdom. Now they went about it all squirrely, they lied and tricked the Israelites, but God had mercy on them, allowed them in. On paper, there's no question who's supposed to win this battle. You got five kingdoms coming against one kingdom. They didn't stand a chance, right? But this chapter isn't really about these five kings, it's about one promise. Because before this battle is over, God is gonna do something that's never been done before and never has been done since. He's gonna stop the sun in the sky for almost a day.

SPEAKER_02

Creation itself is gonna pause so that the promise of God can be fulfilled on this day.

Gibeon’s Choice And Humility

SPEAKER_01

This chapter is gonna ask a question that will face every single one of us in our life at some point which is stronger, the size of the battle in front of you, or the promise of God over you? Today we're gonna see what when God makes a promise that he will move heaven and earth to make that happen. Amen. Let's start. We go in Joshua chapter 10. Now it came to pass when the Adonai Zadek, king of Jerusalem, heard how Joshua had taken Ai and utterly destroyed it, as he had done to Jericho and his king, as so he had done to Ai and its king. And now the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them, and they feared greatly because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty. So I want you to remember last week, because last week we talked about Gibeon and the Gibeonites, and they came to make peace, right? But we kind of had this idea like they may have been like trying to make peace because they were weak. But Gibeon didn't make peace because they were weak, but they were actually really strong. They could have held their own in a battle, but they made peace because they, you know, they were, they loved God. Now that wasn't a pure love, it wasn't perfect, but they had a desire to be part of what God was doing. The Gibbonites weren't weak, they were actually strong. You know, maybe they had been in the gym, maybe they were swole, and maybe that's why Joshua looked at them and like, you guys want to carry our water and our wood? I think that's funny now. I didn't, I thought that was really funny because they had been maybe in the gym. They were like, so they were they were wise, they were filled with love, you know, and honor for God. Um, not not totally righteous, you know, they lied and stuff, but God responded to their humility and accepted them into this new nation. But now they're getting attacked. So all their neighbors are like, we're gonna attack you. So verse 3 Therefore Adonai Zadek, king of Jerusalem, sent to Hoham, king of Hebron, Pyram, king of Jarmuth, Jaffia, king of Lachish, and Dabir, king of Eglong, saying, Come up to me and help me that we may attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua with the children of Israel. Therefore, the five kings of the Amorites and the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jumuth, king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon gathered together, and they went up, all their armies and camped before Gibeon to make war against it. So these five kings attack Gibeon. And so Gibeon has a choice right now.

SPEAKER_02

They can trust in their strength, or they can cry out for help.

Gilgal: Starting From Surrender

Fear Versus Faith In Battle

SPEAKER_01

And I want you to see that because we study this every single week. What is God always looking for? Humility. Pride is the opposite of humility, and God is constantly saying, Hey, will you humble yourself? One is pride, standing up in their strength is pride. One is humility, crying out for help is humility. James 4, 6 tells us the eternal principle of God, which is he loves to give grace, but the way that happens is he gives, he resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble. This is what all is happening in the world at all times. Every single thing in our lives, in everybody's lives, in every country, in every movement, it is about this. This is all what's happening. Humility, God looks on it with favor and pride, God says, I can't, I can't abide with that. I can't stand it. It doesn't work. Look at verse six. And the men of Gibeon sent Joshua at the camp of Gilgal saying, Do not forsake your servants. Come up to us quickly, save us, help us. For the king of the Amorites who dwells, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us. So the words that come out of their heart is already humility. So God's already doing a work in their lives. Before they were lying, but now they've been accepted. Now they are starting to learn they have a new identity, they've been made part of the kingdom of God, and so they have this humility. They say, Now listen to what humility says. Come quickly, save us, help us. That's a heart of humility. God loves to hear that. We think God gets annoyed with our prayers, and nothing could be further from the truth. And that is really what today is about. We're gonna be talking about prayer and seeking God. Well, first thing, what does God care about? Humility. Do you really think you need him? If you pray to like, okay, God, if I do this thing, will you help me out then? Okay, I'm gonna give this much. I'm gonna, if you help me, I'll go to church ten times. Don't bargain with God. He knows you're not gonna do it anyway. He loves to pour out grace. He wants to pour out grace, but we must recognize we can never earn grace. It must be a gift. So what do we do? We ask God for it with humility, saying, I need you, God. That's how it all works. Now Joshua is chilling at Gilgal. Now we have learned, we've seen what Gilgal is. Gilgal is the place where Israel's victories started. Okay? What happened at Gilgal? It was the place of total faith. Remember back in chapter 2, 3, and 4, we learned that that's where God made them stop and remember his covenant, made them circumcise all their men, made that. I mean, so it was the place where total faith, total commitment, and fellowship with God was reignited. So Joshua's just chilling there, like, ooh, I'm liking my relationship with God right now. Okay? He's it's the place, Gilgal was the place where they were conquered by God. Before they ever started conquering the promised land, they had to be conquered by God. God, there's nothing we're gonna hide from you. We're not gonna hide our sin. We're not gonna hide our failures, we're not gonna hide anything we think or feel. We're gonna bring it all before you and say, take us by the hand and lead us. We believe that you love us. So that was Gilgal, that was chapter four and five. Joshua, he's the leader of God's people, right? And he's staying focused on the Lord. And in our book, we know that Joshua is a picture of Jesus for us. Joshua's name is Joshua, Yeshua in Hebrew. Jesus' name was Yeshua. Literally the same name. Couldn't be more clear as a type in a picture. Joshua is a picture of Jesus. And he's staying there focused on the Lord. He's like, I love my relationship with the Lord. I'm chilling here at Gilgal. So verse 7, Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war that were with him, and all the mighty men of valor. So Joshua comes to help these miserable lying Gibeonites, but he doesn't think of them as that anymore, does he? He's like, These are my friends now. These are part of our kingdom. How do we know? He goes up with all he has. He is all in to give grace and help to the people who were formerly liars and Gentiles and just about as idolatrous as you can be, but they decided we would like to be part of God's kingdom. Joshua's like, you're in, let's go. Okay? What do when we go to do God's will like Joshua is here? Do we go up with all our heart? Do we love our spouse with all our heart? Do we love our kids with all our heart? Those are the easy ones.

SPEAKER_02

Do we love our boss with all our heart? Do we love our neighbors with all our heart?

SPEAKER_01

Do we serve our community with all our heart? Do we help those in need and listen to those who talk to us and share their burdens with all our heart? Do we do anything with all our heart except cheer for the packers? Or bears. Bears, packers, I know. Someday the Lord will come and we will all cheer for the Broncos. Instead of being afraid, because you always have a choice. You can be afraid or you can remember a promise and grow in your confidence in that promise. Why do we fear? Well, generally because uh we're we're not remembering the word of God, the promises of God. Fear takes away our ability to fight God's battles. When we're afraid, we just we we don't go all in, we're like with our sword. Like we're afraid. Even in the face of strong enemies, Joshua is commanded, do not fear. And for Joshua, so for Joshua, if Joshua were choose to fear, he would be choosing unbelief instead of faith. Because God said, Don't fear, you're gonna win. So if he chooses to fear, it's literal unbelief. He's being unwilling to believe what God has promised. And literally, it's the same thing with us today. We we do not have to fear. You don't have to fear death, you don't have to fear the enemy, you don't have to fear spiritual warfare, you don't have to fear what's your boss in your job and providing you don't have to fear nothing.

SPEAKER_02

You can be passionate and care about everything deeply, but we don't have to fear.

The All-Night March And God’s Glory

Miracle Hailstones And God’s Credit

SPEAKER_01

So, how do we impact the world? I'm afraid of losing this, I'm afraid of someone I know going to hell, I'm afraid of like, like, how do I impact it? And I'm not supposed to be afraid. How do I fight? What do I do? Maybe we need to make the sun stand still. Verse 9 Joshua therefore came to them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal. All right, I want you guys to understand from Gibeon to Gilgal is 20 miles. He war he marched 20 miles with the entire army, and it climbs 3,300 feet. So uphill both ways, in the snow. So this is eight to ten hours of consistent marching all night long. Okay, so tell me, are they gonna win this battle in their own strength? No, God is making sure, absolute sure, He gets the glory for what's about to happen. Man, sometimes we just wake up tired. Sometimes we are so tired just from what we have to do in life, and that's okay. That doesn't put you in any way less usable by God. God wants to use you. This is a lot of work. So you might think, wow, Joshua's really impressive. Like these children of Israel are really working hard. But I want you to understand this is not the idea, God helps those who help themselves. Have you heard that? God helps those who help themselves. That is so heretical. It is not true. That is pride and self-sufficiency as opposed to the gospel, which is God helps those who humble themselves and trust in Jesus. Okay, that's the gospel. And I will preach that as loud, and you can hate me, I don't care. That is not true. God helps those who help themselves. Now, that's the way the world works. If you work hard, you usually do better. But if you read the book of Ecclesiastes, that's when the world doesn't work the way it should work. And then Solomon's like, why doesn't it work the way it should work all the time? And that's the book of Ecclesiastes. So read that. But this idea, what is really happening? Why did the people have to march all night and get tired? Because God is inviting his people to partner with him in the thing that he's about to do. In Ephesians 2.10, it says, We are God's more workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. That word workmanship in Greek is the word poema, which is where we get our English word poem. So God is working this work of art. You are his work of art, and he's creating in you someone that can partner with him in loving this world. So he's creating good works that you're gonna do. You don't have to try to make them, figure them out, or anything. All you have to do is walk, being a new creation. Just walk, just be you walking. What did the children of Israel do? They literally have just walked so far. And guess what? There's some good works they're about to do because God's prepared beforehand something for them to walk in. Did God say you have to run there? No. But there's gonna be a battle, there's gonna be fighting, but let's see what happens. Our purpose, you know, God works in us first. Uh, then he prepares good works for us to do as well, like I just said. Our purpose is to walk in the things that he has designed for us. How do we do that? With humility, like I said before, and faith. That's how to have a relationship with God, that's how to be a Christian, that's what every church should teach. That's what the Bible literally says. Humility and faith. That's giving your all to him who gave his all to you. That's what that looks like. It looks like surrender is a good way to describe humility and faith put together. And that's how to walk with him. Walk with God, holding nothing back. God, I'm gonna walk wherever you tell me, I'm gonna do whatever you say because my life belongs to you. Verse 10 So the Lord routed them before Israel. Who did what? Ah, the Lord routed them before Israel.

SPEAKER_02

I love that.

Sun Stand Still: A Unique Day

Why God Fights And Who Gets Glory

Triumph In Christ, Not Self

Spiritual Warfare From Victory

SPEAKER_01

He killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon. He chased them all along the road that goes to Betharan and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makeda. And as it happened, as they fled before Israel, and they were on the descent of Betharan, that the Lord cast down large hailstones. And you know exactly what I'm picking, picturing right? You know the scene in Elf where he's throwing snowballs and he's just pounding all the kids. That's God right here. So we throw, he cast down large hailstones from heaven on them as far as Azaka, and they died. Wow. And there were more who died from the hailstones than from the children of Israel killed with the sword. What? Okay, this is miracle number one. The snowballs. God gives this mighty victory. It's something only God could do, right? Miraculous hailstones. It could have been legit hailstones. It could have been him doing snowballs from heaven because they would freeze on the way, you know. Maybe that's what it was. Could have been uh the tail end of a meteor shower. Uh, and and God literally just directed whatever it was, whatever God used, it was obviously a miracle because it didn't land on his people, it only landed on the bad guys, right? So this is obviously a miracle. Clearly sent by God. Listen, they didn't even pray for this, they didn't even ask for it. God just like, you want to see something cool? He brought the victory, he gets the glory, not the children of Israel, they don't get the glory. That's when you know you did it right. That's when you know you did when people aren't like, wow, you're such a great blah blah blah, whatever you are. When they say, Man, if God does something through you, he can obviously do something through me, then. Because you're not that impressive. So if God can love through you, imagine what he could do through. We can be such an encouragement to people when we take the humble route and love people. So check this out it gets crazier. Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in that day, when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun stand still over Gibeon, and moon in the valley of Igelon. So the st sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is it not written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man, for the Lord fought for Israel. Then Joshua returned and all the people with him to camp at Gilgal. Okay, so Joshua says, Son, stand still. He he prays that God would lengthen the day so that they could have complete victory. Because God said you have to, you're gonna beat them all. And Joshua's like, we don't have enough time. There's too many of them, and this is easy. We're not even doing it. Like this hailstones and and this, and and it says this this is one day. So don't be praying that God stops the sun today. Okay, because he says this is a unique thing that happened one time, it's never gonna happen again. It was a unique day. What does it show? The battle is the Lord's, he's gonna get he's gonna get it done. The hailstones and the extended light make extremely clear this was never about Israel's brilliance, it was never about their army, it was never about their swords, it was never about their strength. It was about his love and his protection for them. He's gonna do it because he cares for them. And it brings a bigger conversation about why is God fighting against all these nations? Why is God protecting this nation? Is Israel any more righteous than other people? Not generally. They're pretty lame, also. But God chose this people to bring to be. A light to the world to help people know his character. And part of that is they had to fight against all these other nations who had these other gods who were basically demons that they were they were spiritually connecting with. And the influence that was on them was all evil. And so it was all constantly killing people and enslaving people. And Israel was completely different than that. It was to bring life and to take care of people, take care of old people, take care of young people, take care of even your enemies. He's the hero, right? We're not called to conquer the spiritual mountains in our life. Did you know that? We rest in the finished work of the and and by the Holy Spirit, he shares his victory with us. I'm going to read to you 2 Corinthians 2 14. It says, Now thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ. Remember that word triumph, okay? In Christ. And through us diffuses the fragrance of his knowledge in every place. So what is this whole battle in the sun stopping? What does it have to do with you and with me? Well, we also get a victory that we didn't win. Jesus promises to fight for us and always win because our union is with him. Did does Jesus ever lose? No, he doesn't. And so because you're one with him, you can't lose either when it's a spiritual battle and when you let him take control and fight the battle for you. So he knows that when he uses you, he's gonna get the glory, and people are gonna smell him through you. So that's why God wants to help you. God wants to give you grace, and God wants you to win your battles against sin and against you know whatever you got going on. He wants that so that when he helps you, other people are like, Is that Jesus? You smell like Jesus. How are they gonna smell that? Through humility and faith, he lives in us, he lives through us, he gives us that grace. We smell like him. He gets the glory because he's in you. The only thing that keeps us from walking in victory is pride and self-sufficiency. That's the only thing that can stop a child of God from succeeding. Is when we walk in our flesh, what can I bring to the maybe I need to read my Bible harder. Maybe I need to pray harder. Maybe I need to Christian harder. I'm gonna go to church even harder. It doesn't work. The harder you try to be a Christian, the worse you will do. You are truly free to just be who you are, loved by God, in a relationship with Him by grace and the new covenant. You're not under this burden of the law to be something. You are something in Christ. That's why the devil is only concerned with making us think we can walk in self-sufficiency. He doesn't care if you go to church, he doesn't care if you quit whatever you're doing. All he wants you to do is think it depends on you. Because the more you focus on you, who are you not focused on? On Jesus. So you can't see the victory and have the victory when you're focused on self. Like literally, his entire flag is S-E-L-F. Now, this verse in 2 Corinthians mentions the triumph. So it's all about war, just like we read about war in Joshua 10. So, but what we see here is that the war with Jesus is basically over. The war is over. Our spiritual warfare. Let me there's been a lot of confusion about spiritual warfare. Let me just learn you something. It's done. You don't have to ever fight to cast demons out. Okay? You just walk in the light, and the light that your cockroaches in your kitchen, what happens when you turn on the light? They run, right? Not that you have them. Of course, you guys are all perfectly clean, squeaky clean. But you don't have to fight a battle against darkness. Where does the darkness go when you flip on a light switch? Jesus' light. This is not a battle that we're fighting for. We're fighting from victory. The battle is are we gonna believe and trust in and walk in the light or stay in the darkness? Now I want to to help you understand this triumph. What he's referencing is the Roman victory march. So in after a Roman war, there would be this triumphant procession. So that's what the word triumph is is speaking of by the Roman general through the streets of Rome. So he would go fight his battle, and then he'd bring all the people through the streets. So the general, he marched through the streets in the capital first. You know, the officials and the senate would come, and then trumpeters, and then people with flags, and and then they would, you know, the gold and the spoils that they took from the land, they would come next. It's a parade. It was just a parade right down Padre Boulevard of all the stuff that they won in the battle. And then they would have all they would make pictures and of the land that they conquered that now belonged to Rome. They would have models and citadels of the ships that they destroyed and stuff. Uh, and then they would have a bull that they would sacrifice, they would march him right there, and when they got to the end, they'd kill a bull. It was a party, man. And then and then they would have, after the bull, they would have all the captive princes and all the leaders and the kings that they conquered, and then all the high-end people, and then all the normal people they took prisoners, and then they would go execute them as well at the end of this party. They knew how to throw a party. And then they would have musicians, and then they would have priests. And what would the priests do? They would have these incense burners that would make the entire thing smell a certain aroma. And then, last of all, the general would come receiving all the praise. Saying, look at what I've done. And they would cry, Triumph, Triumph, in Latin, Lo Triumfe. I guess I just made that up. And most of the people in Rome, this would happen maybe once in a lifetime. It was literally their Super Bowl parade. By the way, when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, I was at Disneyland the next day, because we were in California for this conference, and I got to see the quarterback. He went right right next to me on the they did a parade in Disneyland. I was like, yeah. So I took pictures to Matt and I was like, what's up? I got to see him. Okay, so this triumph, why does it matter? Because when the battle comes, remember God is with you and he's already won. He's already secured this decisive victory, and he's placed you in permanent union with himself. So when he's walking in triumph, you are too. And what's the smell? Victory. And it's his love. You're already forgiven, you're already righteous, you're already safe. You so you can face challenges from rest instead of striving by trusting in him that he's leading your life and he is gonna empower you to do his will. He's preparing the good works before you. You don't have to stress out about what I'm gonna do in life. Focus on your relationship with him, your union with him. Not that you have to try to make your union better, just abide in the union that you've been given. It's not a stress thing, it's a rest thing. So, what not to learn from Joshua chapter 10? We are not called to wage earthly wars or hunt for giants in our life. This was a unique historic moment. So God fights these battles, and this was a very specific thing. We read this through this lens of what Jesus has done. Israel's battles in the Promised Land, they always serve to point forward for us. We live by the Spirit. So we're not doing the same type of old covenant warfare. We're not gonna pick up a sword and kill people. Obviously, it's illegal and it's not God's heart. I know, he's like, eh, we'll see. But basically, why is this a big deal? Because we think we're the hero so many times in our story. Do you remember David and Goliath? So many, I can't recount to you how many times I've been doing a little Bible study, or I've been at church, and I've heard David had the faith to kill Goliath, and you can be David.

SPEAKER_02

In that story, you're not David. Who is David in that story?

SPEAKER_01

It's Jesus. Jesus is the hero. We are the weak, trembling people watching him, his brothers, his the people that could not defeat Goliath because they did not have what he had. Okay? He is the hero always.

SPEAKER_02

That's what we're learning here.

The Roman Triumph And Our Union

SPEAKER_01

So the old covenant, when you know, it was swords and it was miracles, and it was seems really exciting to be a part of like seeing that happen. But all of them are signs and shadows for something much, much, much bigger is when the kingdom of God came for the church. And the victory that Jesus won, every single one of these old covenant battles is a picture of what Jesus does on the cross and how he wins it for us. That's why this is important for us to understand. There's no, you know, there's no cosmic signs we need today to be like, well, I don't know if Jesus is real, let a cross show up in the sky or something. It's all done. The battle's done. It's it's finished. And and the kingdom of God is here, living and active, and we can all prove it by the love we have. We know we're accepted by God. We're not fighting for it. So I'm gonna show you real quick, we're good. This one's free. Another time that the sun stood still. Did you know there's another time that the sun stood still? Actually, two. Oh, I'll give you two for one. Matthew chapter 9, verse 20. Suddenly a woman who had a flow of blood for 12 years came from behind and touched the hem of his garment. For she said to herself, If only I may touch his garment, I shall be made well. So picture this woman's situation. She's been struggling for 12 years, bleeding for 12 years. How uncomfortable is that? How terrible is that. Not only that, but she would be ritually unclean. So she's never felt the touch of anybody. Her husband has probably divorced her. She's probably completely miserable and alone and excommunicated. She can't go to church, she can't be around her family. She is completely miserable. But she believes in God. And she says, if only a maid touches garment, I should be made. Why does she think that? I'm gonna tell you in just one minute, but let's see what happens.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Jesus turned around. He stopped. The sun stopped. S-O-N.

SPEAKER_01

How clever am I? Ah. The sun stopped. He turned around. And when he saw her, he said, Be of good cheer, daughter, your faith has made you well. And the woman was made well from that hour. Okay, so she touches the hem of his garment, which in that day they had these blue tassels that they would hang on there. And they called that part the hem, or even the tassels, they would call them the wings of the garment. The wings. There was a literal term that they used. Or in Hebrew, the kanab. My pronunciation was spot on right there. Now, one book earlier, in in Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament, 4-2, right before the New Testament happens, okay, last thing written, he says, But to you who fear my name, I the Son of Righteousness.

Reading Battles Through Jesus

SPEAKER_02

The Son will arise with healing in his wings. In his what? In his wings.

SPEAKER_01

So she knew this. This isn't talking about the Messiah. When the Messiah comes, he would have healing in. And she's like, in the hem of his garment? Boom. I know what I'm gonna do. I can't touch people, but I can touch the hem of his garment. And so she wiggled in there, she touched his garment, and she was healed. And it made the sun stop because the sun had risen up in the sky, the sun of righteousness. I mean, the layers of this are like blowing my mind even right now. I'm just getting goosebumps. It's really exciting. The sun of righteousness stops at midday. He's on his way to go heal, you know, the the ruler of the synagogue's daughter that died, and he's gonna raise her from the dead, but he stops to answer a prayer of desperation.

SPEAKER_02

I want you to think about this. What makes the sun stop? Faith. Always makes the sun stop. We don't have to make the sun stop.

SPEAKER_01

Look at Mark chapter 11. So Jesus answered and said, Have faith in God. For as surely I say to you, whoever says to this mountain be removed and cast to sea, but doesn't doubt in his heart, but believes the thing he says will be done, he will have whatever he asks. Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you will have them.

SPEAKER_02

Who believes this? You believe it.

SPEAKER_01

Very vocal about the believing it. Great. I love it. Do do we actually believe you can pray for whatever you want? Jesus, he's not being mysterious.

SPEAKER_02

Joshua's like, I want the sun to stand still. God's like, alright. He did it. Jesus is like, I will do anything for you. If you believe. What does this mean? Lamborghini, here I come. Cybertruck, let's go. Why does it not work that way? Prayer matters. Because prayer reveals your heart. I want a cyber truck so bad. Your heart is not right. Not because it's a Tesla. I want a Harley. I want this. I want that.

When The Son Stops For Faith

SPEAKER_01

That's not really what you want. The real you, the part of you that's born again and alive to God and his will. What does that want?

SPEAKER_02

I want my son to return. I want my daughter to believe. I want my spouse to know how much I value them and love them. When you pray that prayer, it will be answered. Prayer reveals your faith.

SPEAKER_01

And then when you pray, keep praying, it purifies that over and over, and it changes the world. It stops the sun. It moves God to action. It does. He's saying, I love you. It is not hard to cause God to move. He says, I give more grace. Just humbly come to me and ask, and I will respond. I am promising you, I will respond. How much more clear can Jesus say, Ask me? Ask me and I will give it to you.

SPEAKER_02

Ask me. He doesn't limit it.

SPEAKER_01

I want to prove it to you in a big way. Look at Revelation chapter 8. We're given a snapshot into heaven, into the spiritual world. And he says, When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about a half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them was given seven trumpets, and another angel having a golden censor. He came and stood at the altar, and he was given much incense. That he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints. So what's this golden bowl full of? All your prayers. And he threw it down on the earth. And there were noises and thundering and lightnings and a great earthquake. And then in heaven, everything's praising God. And then the 24 elders are singing, and and the the everyone's casting their crowns down, and cherubim and seraphim and angels of all kinds are praising the Lord. And then Jesus at one point says, Shh.

SPEAKER_02

My child has something to say. And he silent he silences his own worship that never stops.

Prayer That Moves Mountains

SPEAKER_01

All of eternity. There's angels just singing. He silences all of it. And he says, I am so focused on you. I want to hear everything. And he adds incense to it. So your prayers of God. He's like, it's okay. Let me add some incense to that. So it smells good. Let me add some of my love to it, some of my wisdom. I know you're asking to kill this person, but we'll get there. Okay, so we add some incense to it. He let for a half an hour, silence. Nobody say anything. And Jesus is just like, Yes.

SPEAKER_02

I want to hear you. I love you. I want to hear you. What do you want? What do you need? How can I help you? And then it's thrown back down to earth and it literally shakes the earth. Are your prayers gonna shake the earth?

SPEAKER_01

Do you pray that God would shake the earth? That God would shake the foundations of evil? Do you pray that God would save the people in your life that you're sharing the gospel with? Do you believe that Jesus, the King of the universe, silences heaven to hear your prayers?

SPEAKER_02

May we pray with a new heart today. Restore my marriage. Bring my children back. Do not stop praying. Do not stop praying.

Heaven’s Silence For Your Prayers

SPEAKER_01

Every prayer matters. Now, you praying over and over and over again doesn't change God's heart towards you. So just lay that part of it. I'm not praying over and over again to get God to listen. I already have his word that he listens to me, right? I don't need to get him to listen to it. I get to add more of my heart. And I get to receive more of his praise. Father, we lift up our hands and our hearts and our souls to you, and we repent. Father, we believe that we can make the Son stand still because you have chosen to love us. You don't see us as dirty, uh unholy, unrighteous, rebellious children. You see us as your beloved children because we have believed in you, Jesus. And you accept us and you love us. And Lord, we we hold nothing back from you. And we want to cast all our cares upon you, for you care for us. I know that there are people in here that are in great pain and no hope. And Father, I pray that right now, in this moment, you would reach your hand of love and grace and pour help down on us. We worship you, Jesus. We praise you, we surrender and give our lives to you. May your incense, may I pray that you would smell this room right now, Jesus. And that it would be pleasing to you. We love you, Lord. We need you. Please do miracles in our families. Please bring our children home who are prodigals. Please bring us victory over any addiction. We want to be pure and holy and on fire for you. Lord, fill us with that fire from the altar. Just touch us with that fire. Father, we worship you and praise you in song.

Keep Praying: Purify Desire

SPEAKER_00

He became sin who knew no sin. And we might become his righteousness. He humbled himself and carried the cross. Love so amazing. Love so amazing. Jesus Christ came above all names. Blessed redeem. Broken and poured out of love. The whole champion and the verb was stone. Love stone pays. Blessed reach.
