This week on Twin Suns, we're joined by listener-turned-dear friend Bo Hannan to unpack an unforgettable weekend at SPACECON in San Antonio.

Bo's Star Wars story is unlike any we've heard before. Less than a year ago, she had never seen Star Wars. Then one blind viewing of Revenge of the Sith changed everything. Fast forward twelve months, and she's traveling across the country, attending conventions, collecting unforgettable memories, and becoming part of an incredible community of fellow fans.

Together, we relive the highs, laughs, and chaos of SPACECON: meeting Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor stories, photo-op adventures, autograph lines, panel highlights, convention mishaps, and the friendships that make these events so special. We also discuss why fandom matters, how online friendships become real-life connections, and why the Star Wars community continues to surprise us in the best possible way.

Whether you're a convention veteran, a Hayden Christensen enthusiast, or someone who simply loves hearing stories about the people who make this galaxy far, far away feel like home, this episode is for you.

Pour yourself a glass of southern sweet tea or, in John’s case, two large San Antonio margaritas, settle in, and join us for a conversation filled with laughter, gratitude, and a whole lot of Star Wars.

SPEAKER_00

Or it will be forced to demonstrate the true power of the dark side. And now, on with this go.

SPEAKER_04

Our love and journey throughout a galaxy far, far away.

SPEAKER_01

Well, hello dear. Here we are. Here we are again. I'll tell you something interesting. This week, having come back from SpaceCon, I the amount of messages that we have received asking for the convention breakdown. People love when we go to a convention and then have an episode afterwards. You know, I feel like people are vicariously living through our uh experiences, which is a really warm and wonderful thing. But I was blown away. Hey, where's the SpaceCon? What happened? Here we are. Here we are, yes. So excited. And today we have a very special guest. And I think that the title of this episode really says it all. Sweet Tea, Sith Lords, and Space Con with Bo Hannah.

SPEAKER_06

That is hilarious.

SPEAKER_01

Bo Hannah, welcome to Twin Sons.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome. That is so exciting. I'm like fangirling because I have listened for so long. So to hear y'all do the intro and stuff is really, really cool.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. And and you know, Bo, how how did you, just out of curiosity before we jump into it, how did you find us?

SPEAKER_02

I think, you know, Instagram can just show random things that you're interested in now. It's not just who you're following. And I think y'all just randomly showed up one day when y'all had Bader's Girl on because I hadn't looked into her stuff before. And so I'm pretty sure y'all just showed up there and then I looked into y'all and I was nervous to follow. And then I finally did, and I DM'd y'all, and I'm so glad I did.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know. We we had a a long texting going on before prior to the meeting you at the convention, but I should have known it was Vader's girl. I I something I'm very proud of is I feel like on our show, thanks to Jessica and our escapades, like we have collected a group of Hayden Christensen diehard.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Band girls. It all leads back to Jess, I think. It does, 100%. Yeah, it does.

SPEAKER_01

And she was was missed, and we've got some funny stories about her while we were waiting in line, queued up here, coming at you. I think tell us a little bit about like you this just all happened recently, and I don't mean conventions and Hayden Christensen, I mean Star Wars. Like for you. Tell us like when you how recent it was, and you know, your experience with sort of a galaxy far, far away.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so last year I I had never watched Star Wars. I'd never known anything about it. And I think coming from somebody that didn't know anything, Star Wars can be very intimidating trying to get into it because there's just so much. I didn't even know there were core movies to start with. There's just so many side plots now. So I always found it very intimidating. And like I said, my parents, nobody had really watched it in my immediate life. And then I did have my boyfriend's aunt and uncle, and then they they watched it. They tried to get me into it, and I was just like, no, it's not, I don't think it's my thing. And then the re-release came out, and then as I've told y'all, I've tried to get y'all on the TikTok train. And I like saw Padme and Anakin, and I was like, wait, there's a love story. Like, I don't even know who these people are. I had no idea. When I tell you I was blind, all I knew was Vader was Luke's father. I did not know Anakin was Vader. I did not know that Padme was a love interest. I didn't know who the old guy was, which is Obi-Wan. And he was he turned out to be my favorite, but I was like, who is this random old guy? And I didn't know anything. So I think that's the best way to watch it, to be honest, is to not know anything. Because I was distraught when I found out, like watching the fall happen, and I got to watch it in theaters because it was re-released. So my first time seeing Revenge of the Sith was still in theaters, which is pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

So and when you say you saw it in the theater, like you mean last year, the anniversary screening, you didn't know anything really about Star Wars. You went into Revenge of the Sith blind. That's gotta be one of the most unique and to be honest with you, totally awesome ways of experiencing Star Wars.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So I uh in the days leading up, I think I looked and we I went to the last, I had to travel an hour, and I went to the last showing of Revenge of the Sith that was gonna be in theaters like the whole week ever. So I went to the last showing, and before that, I had watched the others. So I was like caught up to date, I guess. Um and then so, but still I got to watch Revenge of the Sith, and everybody around me was nobody was really crying or anything, and I'm bawling my eyes out because it's and everybody else had already seen it, so they knew it was coming, and I had no idea that he was Darth Vader. I didn't know, you know, I didn't know anything. So it was a lot.

SPEAKER_04

Movie to see, yeah, it it is quite a bit towards the last 30 minutes of the movie.

SPEAKER_01

And most of us, you know, who are Star Wars fans kind of know that that film is headed towards him turning into Darth Vader. Imagine not knowing that.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it destroyed me. I did not, I did not know that was coming. And so that was just an insane experience. I'm so glad I did experience it that way because I think it made my love for it more intense. But um, I usually never hyperfixate on things for long, and Star Wars is my my longest running. And um, I didn't think I would, I thought I would watch it and kind of get over it, and I never did. I'm so obsessed with it. So I watched it then, that was probably what April, I think, end of April.

SPEAKER_01

Last year.

SPEAKER_02

And I literally then I started seeing people meet Hayden, and I was like, okay, how are they doing this? So I literally, this sounds crazy, but I Googled, how do you meet Hayden Christensen? I was like, I've gotta do this. And roster con pulled up and it showed all of his next cons. And I was like, when's the single swing? And it was in Texas in June. So I met him last June for the first time, and now here we are, just almost a year later.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh. So literally uh two months after seeing Revenge of the Sis in movies, you said, I gotta meet this guy.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Did you drive to Texas? Yes. So I drove to Texas by myself and went to that con by myself completely.

SPEAKER_01

Oh so, so wait, at what point was it that you that you decided that Hayden Christensen just wasn't your favorite actor in the film? Like that you just I mean, when did you get bitten by the that bug? Like was it was it was it like when the shirt was off and was it the you know the the mechanical hand?

SPEAKER_06

It's it's all of it.

SPEAKER_01

Pretty boy who's tortured. He's almost like a boy band, you know? Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_02

And I was a big boy band girl growing up, so I've always been a fangirl, and I just saw that face, and I was like, yeah, I've got to, I've got to so I get it.

SPEAKER_01

So uh yeah, so you see the movies, you're driving to Texas from Mississippi by yourself to meet this guy for the first time. What was the experience for you like when you first was it a photo? Was it an auto? But you you laid eyes on him and he looked at you. What was that first experience like?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so he was recording Ahsoka season one at that point, I believe, right? Last year was season two. Season two. Okay, so he was doing yeah, he's doing promo for season two now. So he was recording season two, and he flew in for that con, and I met him on Sunday. So he was really tired. It just wasn't the best day, probably. But I didn't know that because I knew nothing about cons at that point. So I went and I did my photo op first, and that's the day he was wearing the Oasis shirt and everything.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but see, I was so starstruck because it was my first time, so I didn't mention it, and I wish I would have. But I wore a cowboy hat because it was Texas, I just thought it'd be funny, and I asked for the hug from behind, and the photographers were laughing, and I couldn't see what was going on. He had his arms around me and I couldn't see what was going on, and the photographers were laughing, so I turned to look, and he was trying to pose correctly with my hat, and he was like, the hat's kind of making it a little hard, and I was like, I'm so sorry. And he was like, No, no, no, I'm gonna get you what you want. And I was like, Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

He did it, and then we took the picture, it was great, and then I went to my autograph, and I was one of the last 10 people he signed for the whole con. And I remember being like, Hey, y'all are almost done, you're almost out of here. And his manager was like, Good, because he has a flight in 30 minutes.

SPEAKER_06

And I was like, Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

And he flew right back to London for filming. So I met him on a crazy weekend of his life, but that was my first time in Texas, and then I did Chicago, which y'all also went to, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we we were there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we missed you.

SPEAKER_01

So, real quick, just so we got a frame of reference, before SpaceCon, how many in this short year, how many conventions have you gone to and how many times have you met him? And I always like to clarify if you go to like a convention and it's Saturday and you have two autos and a photo, that's three meetings. Yeah. So in the short year, how many conventions and how many times have you met him?

SPEAKER_02

Oh God, I'm gonna sound insane, but I promise I'm not.

SPEAKER_01

No, question.

SPEAKER_02

I've done so before SpaceCon, not including SpaceCon.

SPEAKER_01

Before SpaceCon, before we met you this past weekend.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so three. I did three cons before SpaceCon. And that would be it was two, two. It was, I think, only five times I met him. Five or six.

SPEAKER_06

That's good.

SPEAKER_02

But then Space Con, I did a lot. I did the whole weekend, multiple photos. So now in less than a year, I'm up to 15 times that I've met him. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Which is insane.

SPEAKER_01

That sounds crazy, but no, not to not to people who were listening to the show. I most people, everyone here is is happy and envious. Um okay, so was it so the second time you meet him in Chicago, what was it like, were you more nervous, less nervous? How did that go?

SPEAKER_02

I think a little less, but in a way, a little more. Because see, when I met him in June, I had only watched Star Wars two months before. So I really still wasn't super deep into it yet. I mean, I was, but not as much as I was by August, because I had a few more months to keep watching stuff. So in August, and I met him on my birthday in August. So it was just the nerves of all of that. But in Chicago, he was sold out. So in Chicago, I only got to meet him for the duo photo with Ewan.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, double whim. Yeah, that's good.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yes. But Ewan made my Ewan was my person in Chicago.

SPEAKER_01

You have to tell the story about the the birthday card.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so I get to Chicago. We I drove again from Mississippi. Thankfully I had somebody with me, so it wasn't as bad. But we did drive through the day. I think I got there at 1 a.m. And um had to do the con the next day. And so I went to my autograph with UN first and I'd paid for a standard and I brought a birthday card instead of a photo to sign because it was my birthday. So it got slid down to him. And I remember he looked at it for a minute. It was a Star Wars birthday card, and he looked like confused. And I said, I said, Oh, sorry, like it might be a little weird, but I once you signed a birthday card because it's my birthday, and he looked up and he was like, Are you serious? And I said, Yes. And he started to write happy birthday, and I started freaking out.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Obi-Wan's my favorite. Now I I love Hayden, I love Anakin, but Obi-Wan's just hits me different. So um that was that was insane. And so he started to write happy birthday, and his handlers looked at him, and I was like, No, no, no, you and please like please don't. I did not pay you for that, do not. And he was like, What's your name? And I was like, you and no, I didn't pay you for that. Just it's okay. And he was like, he stopped writing and he looked up at me seriously, and he said, What is your name?

SPEAKER_06

Like, oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

He was like, Hush, hush, what is your name? And I said, It's Bo, just B-O. And he was like, Okay, Bo. And he wrote Bo, comma, and he'd already written happy birthday. And then I just saw him keep writing from there, and I was like, all I could say was, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I'm not one of those people that fangirl in front of the person, and it's usually after I leave, but I could not help it. It was you and McGregor. Come on. So yeah, I am freaking out and then I'm shaking. And he gives it back to me. I didn't even see what Ollie wrote yet. And he was like, Happy birthday, I hope you have the best day. So I finally leave there. I thank him all that, and I leave. And I saw he wrote, Bo, comma, happy birthday, all my love, you and McGregor, Obi-Wan.

SPEAKER_01

And yes, and I he never does anything other than what looks like some squiggly E. Maybe OB. Maybe OB OB WAN if you're lucky. That's incredible.

SPEAKER_02

I cannot, I didn't know that about him before. So I didn't know he was so strict or his handlers were strict. Oh, till you told me that. So that makes me feel even more special. But yeah, it was it was the best experience of my life. And I think he won me over after that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Ewan's got he's got something special. Yeah, the thousand watt smile. Yeah, he's he's my man crush.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, okay. Pay for that. So it was just crazy. I paid the cheapest thing. I mean, I didn't pay for the Obi-Wan or anything.

SPEAKER_01

You he paid for the eight by ten, huh?

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yes. And then he remembered me at the photo. Like the photographer had to tell him three times to quit talking to me and focus on the camera. Oh, no way. And then Hayden was there, and I walked up and Ewan was like, the birthday girl's back. Like he remembered, and then Hayden was looking at us like, do y'all know something I don't? I had a birthday sash on, and I was like, Yeah. And Ewan said it was my birthday. And Hayden was like, Is it really your birthday? And I was like, Yeah. And we took the photo, and then Hayden grabbed me after both of my hands and was like, Happy birthday. I hope you have the most wonderful day. I'm honored that you spent it with us. Good.

SPEAKER_07

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

But talk about a good birthday. I mean, that it may go down in history.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Well, I think what we've done here, folks, is establish Bo's credentials. Absolutely. A recent fan has gone hard on Star Wars, uh, hard on conventions. So you're showing up to SpaceCon. We we have to talk about SpaceCon. In San Antonio this past weekend, you and I and Nellie had some texting back and forth. And I told Nellie, I was like, you know, I think I have my little, you know, group of sort of Star Wars guy friends. And I said, I think this girl's gonna be like your Josiah. That's what I told her. Yeah, the way that I am with Josiah and Mike and a couple other dudes, I was like, I think this is like your version of that. So we need to, we need to connect. But you're your seasoned, you're going into your fifth con, you drove what, like 16 hours or something total to get there.

SPEAKER_04

Unbelievable.

SPEAKER_01

I can't which is crazy. You know, to someone who hasn't gone to cons uh or is thinking about going to cons, how I mean, how would you describe that experience? How many strangers did you accidentally become friends with, you know, at these conventions?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, so many. I mean, the first one I left with a friend. I know Chicago is where I met the two girls that I brought to SpaceCon. So, like, that's the beauty in it. We've talked about this a bunch. The whole beauty in the cons, really, I mean, of course, meeting your heroes and all that, but really finding the community that you find. Because now I go to also see the friends that I haven't seen in a few months or in a year. Yeah, I've I've made quite a few. Now I know y'all, I know Josiah, I know quite a few. So it that's the beauty in it is finding a lot of friends. So Yeah, we love that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It ultimately is the thing that it made it special, is you know, we've done it long enough where we've made friends through the podcast and through, I guess, social media.

SPEAKER_04

And content.

SPEAKER_01

And and going to conventions. And it's just, they're all such interesting people. Everyone is so different. You go do a photo op and then you kind of run into someone and you have this interaction, then they go their way, and then you're in line with them. And you know, we would never know each other otherwise, but to be in a big, in this case, rodeo arena, you know, with uh such diverse people all so happy is really special.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Now more than ever in the world, right?

SPEAKER_02

Y'all, y'all are from across the country from me. So just all different areas, too, and the same, you know, passion for the same thing. It is really very special.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. Hang on, real quick, we have to big shout out to Haley and Gabby. Yes, your your girl crew. So day one, we're all outside. It's hot as hell. The humidity, we finally get in, and we're walking around. We see you immediately assumed.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you spotted. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I said, that's Bo. And hugs, hugs, and then we kind of ran into each other again. You were on your way, you had a your first experience was with Tom Welling.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Tom Welling. Um, I noticed there's a there's a pretty boy thread here.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And that was your first photo op, correct?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Well, it was supposed to be an autograph, and then he he was an hour late, which pushed the rest of my day into chaos, but it's okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, same thing happened with us and Daniel Logan just right out of the gate. But but it all works out. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

So how was that meeting him, Thomas?

SPEAKER_02

Um, well, like I said, it, you know, so overall, SpaceCon was amazing. I would say guest-wise, it was the best con I've ever been to. They were all so happy to be there. The $35 a day deals were just amazing. I was able to meet so many people I wanted to, but some of the volunteers were telling me to pick between Tom and Hayden, and I was like, I know. That's why I bring it up.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So I was like, I can't do that. So luckily I was able to get it to work out. Hayden's workers were all amazing, and they were like, we're gonna get you in whatever group we need to to get your autograph. So it all worked out. But Tom was amazing. He actually rejected his hug when he went in.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't mean to, but what do you mean he rejected your hugs?

SPEAKER_02

Well, he I went for a handshake because I'm used to only meeting Hayden, okay? And that's what Hayden usually does. And Tom went for the hug, and then when I had my hand out, he's like, oh, okay, handshake, handshake. And I was like, gosh dang it.

SPEAKER_01

Wait a minute. So he was trying to hug you and you were giving him the handshake?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. Superman. I rejected Superman.

SPEAKER_02

Excellent. Oh my god. Excellent. Not my proudest moment. Yeah, not my proudest moment.

SPEAKER_04

Um these things happen. Yeah. But I was at least stepped on Hayden's foot once. I was more than funny.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, just expensive sneakers. Nelly. You didn't tell me that. Yeah. That's hilarious. Well, okay, so our first kind of encounter was we were it was the Friday. In line uh for uh uh auto. Yeah, Hayden. And Hayden. And we, you know, I at my age treat myself most of the time to VIP. So we saw you and we pulled you into line with us.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, thank God.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And we had already met Hayden once. This was our second auto.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And the first one was incredible, dear. We walked in, he was off in sort of a corner, and the lights were down low and dark. Dark, and it was like this really weird, almost like chill vibe.

SPEAKER_04

Very intimate.

SPEAKER_01

Intimate, you know, and tight. So it he looked up and saw me first.

SPEAKER_04

And recognized immediately. Immediately.

SPEAKER_01

And I, you know, you never know how that's gonna go. So I was like, right on. And then I pulled Nelly in, and we had a great sort of catch up, and he was, you know, excited, or I guess I don't know, it's weird to talk about like he was excited to see us. But I think I th I think he was, right?

SPEAKER_06

I mean, I would say so.

SPEAKER_01

And I gave him my gift of the Oasis vinyl, and when I gave him the vinyl, uh, he was genuinely touched.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, very appreciative.

SPEAKER_01

And I mentioned we like the same bands, and he was like, Oh, I love these guys. I listened to them, and then we talked about seeing them live, and he said, I don't, you know, it's I don't really go out to concerts. Yeah, I get the feeling he didn't like large groups of people.

SPEAKER_04

That was just interesting because he does cons.

SPEAKER_01

I know, I know, but it was it was so cool, and the Nelly was great. You jumped in and were like, hey, do you have a record player? And he goes, I do, I do.

SPEAKER_04

And we got to meet his dog, which is a burnoodle, and the name of the dog is Maple.

SPEAKER_01

Maple. It's just so cute that he had his dog there. So he would be signing stuff and then like call the dog, and the dog would stick his head up, and and it was just a really cool vibe back there. His people are so great and so nice. But then we're back in line, we pull you in, and I make you go in front of us.

SPEAKER_04

And I knew something was coming. Yeah, and it's gotta it's gotta be said too.

SPEAKER_01

We were in line, and somehow, you know, I think I asked you, how did you find us? And Vader's girl, we, you know, we said Vader, you said Vader's girl, and then someone in the line was like in front of us, in front of us was like, are you Vader's girl? And we were like, no, no. I was like, I wish, but um just saying Jessica Jess's name out.

SPEAKER_04

Or Vader's girl.

SPEAKER_01

Vader's girl's name out. Like, of course, this person, someone in line came out of the woodwork and perked up, yeah, perked up.

SPEAKER_02

And I was like, They were so excited. Like, they really were like, Oh, who's Vader's girl? Or wouldn't be Vader's girl? And we were like, oh, she's here in spirit.

SPEAKER_01

So we go in, and what you know, we were behind you, which I love watching the people I know's interaction. It's just uh to watch how how excited people get, and it's you and Hayden. And what did you hand him?

SPEAKER_02

I got him to sign the Darth Vader football jersey that day.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Now, like, well, I told y'all before, I was like, I'm gonna be very quiet in here, and y'all were both like, no, you're so social. And I was like, just not to Hayden. I'm social to everybody else. So I was nervous to be in front of y'all because I know that he knows y'all. But y'all made it way better. So I do thank y'all for that.

SPEAKER_01

Because I was very okay. So you put the jersey down, and it's like a football jersey, and the name says Vader, and he starts to autograph, and he there was a little, he was struggling a little bit, right?

SPEAKER_05

On the phone.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, he was. The marker was like paper.

SPEAKER_01

And what did you say to him?

SPEAKER_02

Uh, I'm very Southern, and if you know, you know, but I we're very expressive, talk with their hands, and I like reached out and I was like, oh, babe, you can't mess it up. There's nothing you can mess up for me. It's gonna be fine. And he he seemed to calm down a little bit. Because he was trying to go over it. The marker wasn't working, so he was having to go over it a few times. And I just wanted him to know it's not like I'm a collector where this is gonna be a huge deal if you mess up the signature. So I did. I was like, I was like, no, babe, you cannot mess this up for me.

SPEAKER_01

Which it was such an like witnessing you, him struggling, you saying that, him kind of relaxing was kind of a beautiful moment.

SPEAKER_04

We were taking a moment watching you too, and it was it was it was nice to see that interaction.

SPEAKER_02

So then you so relaxed. He was he gave multiple handshakes, he big smiles. He was very happy to be there. Friday was an amazing, amazing day. It really was.

SPEAKER_01

Friday was special. I it's funny you say that because this we're referring to our second auto. The first one, he he shook our hands three times each in that interaction with the Oasis record. And I I got the the Revenge of the Sith novelization, the new one signed. And he was struggling with that pen as well. And give me another one, and he signed Anakin Skywalker without me paying or asking. Um and which was really cool. But watching you two, oh, sorry, dear.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no. I want to get to the point where you try to get a little bit more.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so so Bo so Bo's so Bo's done, and she's getting ready to walk through the curtain, and I'm like, hold up, hold on a second, Bo. Don't don't go anywhere. I said, Hayden, I said she's a fan of Nellie's podcast, and I see the messages between these two DMs about you, and you both look at me like, oh my god. And what did he say? He said, like, I hope it's good or something like that.

SPEAKER_02

He said, Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's right.

SPEAKER_03

And um, I said, I said, nothing weird, nothing weird, all good things, all good things.

SPEAKER_04

He was like, yeah, and I was just laughing, just like, oh my god. If I wanted to say, hey, you're in those DMs too. I did too.

SPEAKER_01

You were both so flustered, like Bo, you were, you went like, you had one foot in and out of the curtain. You were like bouncing, like, I want to leave, I don't want to leave, I want to leave, I don't want to leave.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Um, but I am glad it just alleviated so much pressure. It made it so lighthearted, and he really played into that joke because he was like, Oh yeah, like y'all talk about me. And he wasn't weirded out. He was just like very played into it and everything, and that made me really relaxed. And it was just a fun, lighthearted thing.

SPEAKER_01

It was, it was a total icebreaker. Yeah, it broke the ice, and I think it sort of bro broke the probably the redundant nature of the line and signing and looking up, signing, looking up. Because he at he was sitting down, and when I said this, made this bold statement, he he stood up. He stood up out of his chair, his signing chair. And yeah, you're right.

SPEAKER_04

He did stand up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and then I had him sign a card, which is a card collector this year. It was the first card ever had him sign, and he was like, That's actually a really cool card. So he acknowledged that. But it was just such a wonderful moment between the three of us. I said so I can't remember what else, but there was I don't remember. There was other stuff that was said that really it was just such a lovely interaction between the four of us.

SPEAKER_02

It was, it was. And I you better be glad that you did it to me that I'm a good sport and I am fine with it. I wasn't just that mortified about it. But Nellie was like, I'm pretty quiet and I'm introverted, so I knew she wasn't gonna say anything. No, just laughing.

SPEAKER_03

That's laughing nervously. All good things, all good things. Because I knew Nellie wasn't gonna defend us. I was like, somebody's gonna say something.

SPEAKER_01

I know you two were just standing there like grinning, and it was bad.

SPEAKER_03

It was like funny.

SPEAKER_01

It was like a kind of a moment it felt like amongst family, like the way that families sort of haze each other, yeah, tease each other or playful with each other. I know what I said too. I said, these are hate inception girls. That's what I said. I knew I said something else. I was like, and these are hate inception girls. So what I think's really cool is is that, and again, it all come coming back to Jess, you know, this thing that she created and the people that are uh, for lack of better words, repeat customers who come back to see that you know everyone is friends with each other is really nice.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um because Hayden remembers all of that. I'm amazed at how much he remembers, actually.

SPEAKER_06

Me too.

SPEAKER_01

So that was a big moment for all of us. And and I knew after that it was uh good good friends for life.

SPEAKER_04

Did you have any other photos or autos on Friday?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. So I did a photo with my friend Gabby, and then I did a photo just by myself with him. So we went in there, me and her just like hugged him in our photo, and then for my solo photo, I was like, he looked at me and was like, what do you want to do? And I was like, I just want a really tight hug, if that's okay. And he said, Oh, I love a really tight hug. Come here. And it's my favorite photo I've ever gotten with him. It's amazing.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, we're gonna use that as the photo for the podcast episode.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I asked, but yes, I do want you to use that one.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so because we it was crazy. We did two one photo on Friday, two autos. We did Daniel Logan, Matthew Wood, and Juan Carlos.

SPEAKER_04

As Vacito.

SPEAKER_01

And it just, it was really, it was wonderful that it was all in this one self-contained area.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I agree.

SPEAKER_01

I don't, you know, we've been accused on our show of being too positive. And I and I don't ever want to critique or criticize, but I will say by midday, it was so hot in there.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, especially on those one side of the auto.

SPEAKER_01

It was it was warm. Yeah, and the the the the timing, they were just in 20-minute increments. I was hyper aware of like, we need to be here right now.

SPEAKER_04

It was stressful for a moment.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm on vacation, yes, you know, and I need a little bev adult beverage in between to settle my nerves, and I don't know. And I'm like, the only thing they had were the biggest cans of modello I've ever seen in my life.

SPEAKER_05

Which needs to look like a huge lush.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I was like, this beer is as big as me, and I'm 6'2. And it's like I just it was, yeah, like it was it was something out there in Texas.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, but I will say the guests again were, I don't know what it was about Texas, but they were the best I've ever seen them. The staff was amazing. I did not feel rushed at all in my photo. You know, usually the photo's like in and out, and I did not feel rushed at all. I got to ask what I wanted, shake a hand, give a hug, whatever I wanted. So that's it's probably the best I've been to in that regard.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Well, Saturday's the big day. I mean, it was a lot of people, many more than Friday for sure. So I just it what was your what was your experience on Saturday like? What what who did you have? What were your what was your itinerary for the Saturday?

SPEAKER_02

So my Saturday I planned for Hayden only. So I only did Hayden photo, auto, and panel.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you had a late day. Absolutely. So what tell us about that? What was the the pose?

SPEAKER_02

Was it solo? Yes. So I did again, no Russian photos, even though it's Saturday. I found it to be impressive. There was still no Russian photos because Saturday's the busiest day, as we all know. Um, so I asked for the wedding pose that day because I was in a white dress.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you showed up like in white heels and a white dress. Like you were like it was like you were going to cotillion or something.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yes. I was going subtly for the wedding. So I said, Can we do the wedding pose? And he he had the biggest smile on his face and he was like, What's that? And I was like, you know, and before I could say anything, he grabbed both of my hands and he, you know, did the like a vowel pose and he was like, like this. And I was like, Yeah, yeah. And he just gave me the biggest smile and we took it. And then I don't know if I was shaking. I didn't feel myself shaking, but when they called that the photo was done, he squeezed my hands like five times. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

He's a man who loves his job.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I hope he does. So not that it means anything, but he did. I and I love that about him. If he does sense that you are nervous or whatever, he really does try to do little things like that to to kind of make you feel more comfortable. That just his character. So yeah, that was my post. But I will say the flash was on the day before, and that day it wasn't. And I think it's because Maple, the dog, was in the photo booth with us.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_02

I think she might not like the flash. That's just my personal theory, but I thought that was a cute little thing to know that he hasn't in there.

SPEAKER_01

And what which photos do you if correct me if I'm wrong, they look better without the flash, right? Or did they not? Which which ones did you think look better, like skin tone and all that kind of jazz?

SPEAKER_02

Either one. I mean, the the day without the flash, I wasn't looking at the camera. So we were looking at each other, so it was a little different. But I think the ones with the flash are better quality. They're like, they're a little more focused to me than the Saturday. But I mean, not bad enough that I don't like my Saturday photo. So Okay. But I think just a little difference.

SPEAKER_04

I have to ask, when you guys are doing the wedding pose, are you staring into his eyes during this whole time? Yes. Was he smiling and I'm taking you're smiling.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I was of course smiling, and he was too. And y'all know how intense his eye contact is. Yes. Yeah, you don't know till you meet him. So it was intense, but the whole the only thing I was thinking was he's smiling, he's smiling.

SPEAKER_06

God.

SPEAKER_02

Because I don't want a sometimes he soft smiles in his photos, you know. And I always love getting the real smile. So all I could think in my head was, he's doing the real smile. He's doing the real smile. Oh, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Now I have to bring this up because this is this is fun for me. You are based on your IG, it's very obvious that you are in a happy, healthy, uh, long-term relationship.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Now, you and your boyfriend is not there. Is you think he'll be listening to this episode?

SPEAKER_03

I I hope. This is my two.

SPEAKER_01

What's his name?

SPEAKER_03

Reed.

SPEAKER_01

Reed. All right, Reed, this is John. You've got to come to one of these. You and I'll have a good time just watching them. Trust me, come with your girlfriend to a convention and we'll hang. That said, you sent Reed the wedding photo.

SPEAKER_03

I did.

SPEAKER_01

And what was that text chain message?

SPEAKER_02

Well, he's always, of course, Reed is so supportive. Thank God I have an amazing boyfriend. So he's always so supportive. So he was, of course, first and foremost, like, you look so good. You look so happy. And then he was like, but I gotta say, this is not my favorite pose. You look like you're getting married. I was like, well, babe, that's the point. I was like, that's what I asked for. Um and he was like, well, I know that's what you asked for, but it really does. And I just blamed it on the movies, you know. I'm like, that's a Padme pose. Yeah, that means of that.

SPEAKER_01

You're right.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, but he gave the best answer. And you know, I'm always learning, even at this point in life. And when he what he what was his answer? Yes, I know, but I don't have to like it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He said, I don't have to love it. He's he's like, this is not the one we're framing and putting up, but like it's still great for you. I'm happy you're happy, is his motto.

SPEAKER_01

Now that I think about it, your dress did kind of look like the Padme wedding dress. That's the idea, right?

SPEAKER_02

I'm not a big, I love when other people cosplay. I it's just I don't know if it's my thing yet. Um, but I wanted to do like a subtle play on it. So I did like a white lace dress.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's that's I do too. Now that you mention it, that does make sense. Now, there was something else that was going on with the photos that uh all you girls were wearing cowboy boots. And there was this series of photos of what was it called? Boots up.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so the first day on Friday, I did when I did my hug post with them, I kicked my boot up so you could see it in the photo. I just thought it was very Texas. I wanted you to see my cowboy boots.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Gabby did a great boots up, but I will say on this day, I think that Haley had the best photo because not only were they doing like the wedding, but he was like caressing her cheek or something.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh. Right?

SPEAKER_02

She was wait, she was caressing his face, right? Yes, they had uh each of them had a hand on each other's face. So she had one on his and he had one on hers.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was an incredible photo.

SPEAKER_02

And it was actually cute because when they did it, she was on the wrong side. You know, every girl has got their side they want to be on, and she was on the wrong side. So she was like, Can we turn and I be on the other side? So they held each other's face and shuffled the whole time to turn. So it was really funny. And those little moments are what, you know, make it what it is.

SPEAKER_01

That was awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that was an incredible. She did upstage us there.

SPEAKER_01

We overdid it on Saturday. We started off with the Hayden-Ian duo photo, and honestly, it tur it it it uh we walked in, Hayden saw us and he stuck his hand out because I think Ian is like no touching really, or no hugs or any of that. Which means I immediately hug Hayden, turn around and hug Ian, and he just was like, Well uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And I was just in my mind, I'm going, I just made Palpatine uncomfortable. Um but our that photo for us turned out great, and you posted it, and more people that I we didn't know were like, oh black, good call.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's it's my of us with me in it, my favorite photo of having all of us together. And dear, you look great in it.

SPEAKER_04

Anakin and Palpitate. Yeah, it was great. It was our first time meeting Ian.

SPEAKER_01

Ian. So we had a wonderful photo of uh uh auto with Ian, and he signed my yes, you're welcome, signed my poster. We did another premium auto with Hayden. I can't remember. I think I got an I don't know what I I can't remember what I got signed.

SPEAKER_04

I another Was it a card? I was about to say, was it a card?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no, no. It was the vinyl, it was the made-by-mutant vinyl, the lava vinyl, yes. Because he came in and he saw it and he signed it and he looked at me and he goes, Are we good? Like he was asking me if I wanted something more, but his name was so beautiful on it.

SPEAKER_04

Like, that's good.

SPEAKER_01

And so, yeah, I was like, this is great, thank you. And then we met Amon for the first time. He's absolutely for an auto. He was incredible.

SPEAKER_04

So incredible, you actually booked a photo for the photo with him the next day.

SPEAKER_01

And he remember remembered our names. We had a whole conversation because you know, if you follow him, he's loves tennis, and where we live is a lot of tennis. And so that was great. And then we met Jimmy, and that was Oh, he's such a sweetheart. A sweetheart, legendary. And I love that while we're doing all of this, and I want to publicly thank you and Josiah. You guys are outside in the sun in the heat, waiting to go to the pan.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yes, we were. Yeah. Um, I asked, I was like, can I go ahead and line up for the because we had gold tickets. We all did. Y'all did too. All of us. Yeah. So you're guaranteed, you know, the first few rows, but we wanted to be the first or second row. So we gotta line up early. So we all were busy. I was like, I'm gonna hold it down. We're gonna go outside. So yeah, they made us wait outside, which was a little different, but we were shaded.

SPEAKER_01

We were shaded at least. Yeah, it was in the shade, but it was, you know, it was an interesting thing to line up human beings outside when it's that hot and humid. And honestly, it was so kind of you guys to be out there. And as we were, you know, Nelly was like, Let's go meet these guys. I said, Hang on, let me just get a beer.

unknown

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

We sat in the air conditioned for about 20 minutes, and I was like, All right, I'm ready. So we went outside, and you were like three people behind Josiah, so it worked out really Well. And when they opened that door, I mean, it was everyone ran in.

SPEAKER_04

Like a Black Friday sales extravaganza.

SPEAKER_01

And everyone ran into the second row. I ran into the third row. So then I jumped over the row and I did a split that I didn't know I was capable of doing. And it it's still with me here a week later.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's hilarious. I think I even grabbed y'all's poster, maybe, and I was like, I've got it, guys!

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes, you did. You were you were the keeper of my poster while we were doing all those photo ops and autos. So thank you. So we we got the second row, which was better than the first row because we weren't you could see their heads.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, behind the table, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

There was a moment in line where I took a step back. I was looking at you and you were talking to Josiah. You just met him for the first time and his friends, and then I call her the cup girl. I I just know her as the cup girl, but the nicest person ever.

SPEAKER_06

I can't pronounce it.

SPEAKER_01

She goes, no one can remember, including okay, she's the cup girl. She knows who we love her.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, I watched her too.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And I I was just, I took a step back and took a moment while we were in line, and I just went, look at look at this diverse group of people who were all don't know each other, all coming together, all being friends. And I just felt like this moment of sort of happiness. And there were quite a few other people there that we met for the first time uh in that line who knew who we were and we weren't following back. Sorry about that. And uh uh it was just such a magical kind of moment that we're in Texas, SUV limos are pulling up right next to us because it was where the game was, the basketball game.

SPEAKER_02

The Spurs and the Knicks. We watched the Knicks come in on their bus.

SPEAKER_01

That's it. And it was just this wild, uh, you know, I call it grace notes. It's a grace note where you just kind of go, this is a happy moment in life right now. And then we're all sitting together in the panel in the first, what, two, three rows, everyone's chatting, sharing their photo stories, their auto stories, their, you know, and it was just it was just a really lovely, touching moment.

SPEAKER_02

It really was. And like we said, that's what makes it so worth a. You know, we were out there for three hours, so we all kind of bonded pretty kind of.

SPEAKER_01

I'm a senior, I'm a senior, I'm playing the senior card. I'm the older older guy, so I've got to be careful out there. Um I could not. I was like, let me just get this ice cold beer in me before I can stand outside. Shouldn't we go? When we heard the Star Trek guy at his panel, I was sitting there and I was like, they're all outside, we gotta go. You were eating a peanut butter You were having a peanut butter and jelly, dear. That's right. Yes, because something really cool happened. They they gave us the cards to write down questions, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

And yours was the first question to be asked.

SPEAKER_02

Which is so crazy. So I, you know, I had some good questions, but you kind of go blank when they give you a note card to write one. I would have really loved to have asked, you know, Hayden, how does Anakin feel being in the same room with Leia's real dad?

SPEAKER_01

Um such a good question.

SPEAKER_02

I would have loved a deep question like that, but I couldn't think of anything in the moment. So I said, my question is for everyone because you had to specify who it was for. And I said, um, Nyx or Spurs, be very honest. And I underlined honest. And then um they I yeah, they picked it for the first one. And I thought it was a good question to get the crowd also, you know, going. And it was just a very surreal moment. I remember looking over at y'all like that was mine.

SPEAKER_01

You were in tears. You were in tears.

SPEAKER_03

I was, I was.

SPEAKER_01

It was so cool, you know, it was such a great way to break the ice. And, you know, when Hayden, Jimmy, and Ian walked out, I mean, there was just so much love in the room. It was, it really was a special moment seeing those, those three actors on stage.

SPEAKER_04

But Hayden did answer Spurs. Ian answered, like, who cares?

SPEAKER_01

Who cares?

SPEAKER_02

He said, I don't know what y'all are talking about.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's like, exactly.

SPEAKER_04

I I don't have a Yeah, I'm a thes.

SPEAKER_01

I'm a British Thesbian. Like, I don't, this means nothing to me. And then Jimmy, Jimmy knew the audience and said, Today because I'm in San Antonio, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, good. Yeah. He said um he wants it to go to seven games so he can keep watching so Spurs tonight. So it was really cool though. I've never had that happen because um every time I went, we haven't been able to ask questions. So that was a really cool moment. Hayden even had a Spurs hat on, but I'm super big into sports, so I that was just a question that was personal to me too. Wimby loves the prequels and things, so I think that's a big reason why Hayden has a relationship with him is because Wimby's a huge fan, too. So it was really cool though.

SPEAKER_01

It it was now something slightly controversial happened during this panel, though. Share with us what happened.

SPEAKER_02

So, you know, if you've ever seen Hayden before, you know this. But I thought he was talking a lot for there to be three people, and it made sense more when this happened. But because they were kind of asking questions just kind of geared towards him at the beginning. And I was like, okay, this is interesting. But about 20 minutes or so in, Hayden announced that he was gonna catch the second half of the game and that he was leaving. So it it was very controversial for a lot of people.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh y'all share your thoughts first.

SPEAKER_01

Well, well, listen, you know, it it's I understand there were some people like we're yeah, listen, this guy, this is my takeaway from this con, seeing him, you know, multiple times three days in a row, Hayden and his team work their asses off. And he gives so much of himself to everyone, you know, that if the man wants to, you know, walk 25 feet out the back door and go to a finals game, uh, more power to him, you know. But I guess if I was someone who this is the first and only time that I ever get to see Hayden in a panel and I took my family at $100 a pop. There were some people, yeah, that were just were a little disappointed, I think.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But the good news is, is Ian was the rock star of this panel.

SPEAKER_04

Surprisingly, I yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Considering he just had a huge line, was doing photos and autos all day. When we left Jimmy Smith's line, which was auto, which was right next to Ian's on the way to the panel, Ian's line was huge. He's 81. He was cracking jokes, he was telling stories, that whole thing about the dating app, Please Please Me or something, or what was it? Like Ian was just so good. And then at the same time, you can see Jimmy, who this is his first ever convention, he was just so taken with all the love in the room that he was just here, I'll I'll use a word from your generation. He was just vibing.

SPEAKER_05

Totally.

SPEAKER_01

He was just vibing, he was just smiling and so happy to be there. And boy, uh Jimmy's love and appreciation for George was front and center in his answers, which I I found very interesting. But so this is no critique or criticism of Hayden leaving. The guy deserved to have a fun moment for himself after working his ass off for two days and soon to be three days. So that's that's my takeaway. What what about you?

SPEAKER_02

I'm the same. So I've seen Hayden in a panel before, thankfully. So it wasn't so much that I needed to. I mean, obviously we waited outside and we paid and all the things, but I really treated myself this weekend and I met him all three days, and I was okay. There wasn't a part of me that was just very mad. Really, I kind of went more for Ian and Jimmy because I didn't meet them in the weekend. So they were that was my time to spend with them, and I kind of got even more of them because I feel like a lot of questions are geared a lot towards Hayden. I mean, because a lot of people are really there for him in the sense of younger kids and stuff. So I appreciated it being, you know, Ian and Jimmy because I didn't get to meet them. Now I do sympathize and understand with the people, you know, that did come just for the panel. But at the same time, I think there's a line where it's kind of a lesson of you know, you don't don't come just for a panel. You need to experience the whole con and everything it really has to offer because things like that can happen. And you know, panels really are only what it was five 45 minutes and split between three, his time would have been what he did stay. So exactly you know, I I sympathize, but I I sympathize with him a lot because I have met him and I have seen how hard he works. And you know, one day when I went to the autograph tent, I saw one of the workers click on the computer, and just for where I was in line, me and Haley were numbered like on 152. Oh my god. So that's in one group, and I think we were just group A or B. So he was just getting started, and that just shows you how many people he does in a day, not even a weekend, a day. So when you see the grit he puts into it and how hard he works, you want him to have that time off. And also, I will say, I think it was a lot of his agency hooking up that game for him because of Wimby being their star player and also being such a big Star Wars fan, I think it was a good marketing thing and all I think it was a deeper thing. So I just don't blame him.

SPEAKER_01

I I look, I this man deserved to go and have a beer. And I will say, to your point, there was on Saturday, it was real happy go lucky. Like even when we went through the line a couple times, this line is consistently long and they're pushing it faster, a little faster than Friday and Sunday for sure. Big time. He worked his butt off. I was exhausted for him. I was exhausted meeting me, you know. So I don't I don't know how many times, you know, but yeah, there was definitely like we got to get some business done here to make sure everyone gets their turn. Oh, hang on. You know what? That parking lot, because the can the rodeo convention center and the game are like connected. It's the only thing in that area. There's nothing around it. You guys giving us a ride home Saturday was a godsend. It was a godsend. That beverage I had at the hotel bar after you dropped me off was probably along with our door dash. Our door dash.

SPEAKER_04

God, we had some great biria barrio.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, my god, that place. All the locals were like ordered from here. I didn't know whether to eat it or take it upstairs and whisper sweet nothings on my pillow. It was so good. Um, so but we're we're Sunday, is it felt like you know everything was relaxed again. So relaxed. So relaxed.

SPEAKER_05

Very, very less people at the clock.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I was really surprised, and yeah, there's always this sort of at the end of a convention, this sort of, I don't know, sad moment, like you know it's coming to an end. Um who what did you have lined up on Sunday?

SPEAKER_02

So I met Sean Gunn first, and then Hayden, and then Tom Hiddleston. So I was that was a pretty big day for me.

SPEAKER_01

That is a big day. Tom was a huge hit.

SPEAKER_04

And Hiddleston, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Hiddleston, and like his every photo, he's like got his mouth open, he's smiling, like a lot of energy. Ton of energy. That guy's definitely taking testosterone. There's no way. Like he gets he has so much energy, and he was giving all the fans what they wanted. Money is worth it.

SPEAKER_02

He's very what I picture Joy in life to look like. If Joy was a person, it's him. He's incredible. I will say, like him and Hayden, they're both so nice, but it's crazy how different you can have because Tom is so over the top, and Hayden is so nice and like gentle with you. And um he's just soft-spoken, you know, very and Tom is like over the top, the arms throwing up when you come in the room, you know. So yeah, but Hayden I had first, and we did a group photo, and then I did a solo. And this is my one that went oh yeah, I just can't.

SPEAKER_01

No, it looked good.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so what happened with this photo that's like a good thing? Yeah, so so I asked him, he has done this many times. I asked him for the force choke pose. So I wanted him to just force choke me, but instead of me acting like I was choking, I was gonna be just like laughing about it because I thought it would be funny and I hadn't seen anybody really do that. So we did the group photo first, and they were like, middle girl stay. So I stayed and I asked him for it, and he was like, Yeah, let's go. But then he kept trying to put his arm around me, and I've never seen him do that. I've only seen him, you know, he stands a little off and I stand a little away, and then he just does it. And I was like, no, like the force choke, and he was like, Yeah, yeah. And I was like, No, like, and I kept stepping away from him, and he kept stepping to me, and I was we were both just so confused. And he was trying to put his arm around me, and we finally just looked at the camera, and yeah, his arm is halfway around me, but I look like I'm standing far away from him, and then he's doing the force took, but he's also holding me. It just was confusing. You look great.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you look great in the photo. That's the that's the thing about it. It's too, it's too bad that you guys couldn't figure out. Like he it okay, so you shake Tom's hand on day one, and now Hayden's trying to like bring you in and you're inching away. Like uh, this is hysterical to me.

SPEAKER_04

Hayden looks good too. It's just his hand placement is awkward on both or where his hands are.

SPEAKER_01

It's like he's comforting a friend and force choking.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and it's like the most gentle force choke you've ever seen in your life. Like his hand is just up, it's not really doing the thing. I don't know what happened, but you know, I'm never gonna complain about him trying to put his arm around me.

SPEAKER_01

That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_02

But it's just really funny. I it really does look like he's trying to comfort me and also force choke me, but I'm sure if you were a dude, he would really go for it. Like, all right, let me like right, right. You know, I'm not gonna complain about that. And also the fact that um it he we just laughed about it, you know. It it was it was fun. I just didn't love the photo, but I go for the interaction, so it's not, you know, the photos didn't really matter that much.

SPEAKER_04

It's just but it seemed like it he remembered because after that you had an auto, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and this is a big moment when you're a Hayden Christensen fan. What happened in the auto?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so especially like you spend all this time and money and all this traveling, and this just makes every bit of it worth it. So I went and I think you told me, you were like, what if this is the moment that made him remember you? And I was like, John, please do not tell me that because I'm so embarrassed. I was like contemplating not going to my autograph. I was like, oh no. And I did, and thank God I did, because I went in there and I got him to sign a little Polaroid. So because I didn't love my photo that day, I didn't want him to sign that photo, and I didn't really have anything else on deck. So I was like, well, I have this little Polaroid photo of me holding my first day photo, and I was like, whatever, it'll be cute, and I can just keep it in my wallet. I don't know if the handlers were feeling it because it got pushed down and they were kind of looking at it weird. I was like, I know it's tiny, but I don't have anything else. So, anyways, it got down to his manager, which is the guy that sits beside him, you know, Anthony. I asked for silver. I always get silver on everything. And Anthony was like, Would you rather have blue? And I was like, I think I want silver. And he was like, I think blue looks better at this point. Done with the person in front of me. And me and Anthony were just talking, and he was looking between us like hello? Are y'all gonna? Cause we were just like having casual conversation and he was like, Hello. And it was just funny. And I was like, Yeah, we'll go blue. I'll trust you, I trust you. And Hayden, it got slid down to him and he picked it up, or he looked at me and said, Hey, it's so good to see you again. Oh, I was like, because he's never exactly said that. And I didn't give him a photo of us, because when you give him a photo of you, he knows he's seen you.

SPEAKER_01

So sometimes he remembered you. This is the moment that Hayden remembers you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So he said, So good to see you again. And Haley said that I paused and she was about to hit me because I didn't say anything. Because I think in my head I was like, What? Did I hear that right? And yeah, she said I had a big pause and I didn't say anything. But I was like, Oh, again, yeah, yeah, I've been here all weekend. And he just like he just laughed and he picked up my little Polaroid and brought it to his face so he could see it. And he was like, This is so cute, oh and I was like, This is just going the best possible way it could. And then he signed it and he drew me a little heart on it, which is so cute.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I have not seen that. The old Hayden heart. I've seen a little star, whatever he does, but he does the X. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he did a little heart, and it's just my most prized possession. And I told him, I said, yeah, well, you know, I didn't like the other photo we took, so um, I just got this signed, and he said, he said, oh, they didn't turn out good. And I was like, no, no, no, it was all me. It's not you, it's not you. And he just like laughed about that, and then it went on. But it was, it was a great, it was the best way that it could have possibly have gone, I think.

SPEAKER_04

This is a nice ending to your con, I'm sure. Totally.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and I told him, you know, I thanked him for the whole weekend. I was like, this has been the best weekend, thank you so much. And he thanked me, and then he was like, No, seriously, take care, take care, be careful. Because he knew it was the last, you know, time for the con. So it was an amazing ending to the con. I couldn't have asked for any better.

SPEAKER_01

That's awesome that you he remembered you. And I remember the first time he kind of remembered us, and I was like, you just yeah, that's yeah, like it's it's such a cool moment. And it was a good vibe on Sunday. We had a great time photo-op with Amon, he remembered our names, another auto with Jimmy, and then we had a photo with Hayden, which has to be discussed.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_01

So, you know, pretty early on Friday, you were sending us examples of fun photos that you thought we should do. And we sort of with Hayden. And we decided on this one where the girl's being held by Hayden and he's using the force on the boyfriend, and we thought that would be funny and fun for Nelly. And we struggled with what to do, and then finally Saturday night, probably after that stiff drink I had in the lobby, just thanking my Lord and Savior that I didn't have to find an Uber.

SPEAKER_05

After the game.

SPEAKER_01

And I said, Hun, you know, I'm gonna, I just want the interaction. I'm gonna get I'm gonna do my hug. And then I want you to take a photo with him because, you know, we said it was your birthday. Your birthday was actually a couple days later. But I said, I want you to do this. So I did what I did for Jess. I went in, hugged him, and I said, Hayden, it's her birthday. Will you give her, put do the arm around the waist, uh prom high school yearbook photo? And he goes, I got you, I got you, man. And I started to step out of the frame, and his security was like, What are you doing? Get a get in the photo. And then I could see him look over my shoulder, and the security went, Okay, never mind. And I turned around and I see you two taking a photo, and I don't, it just didn't register. So I was like, Okay, she got the photo, and I said something, and it's weird because this is twice now where I've kind of like whispered something to Hayden, you know, kind of like said, Hey, can you do this? And I'm like, I'm like four inches from his face. It's I'm jealous, like it's just weird. So then then our our our I know, so I knew something special happened, but and then as we were leaving, it was sort of prearranged, our our our favorite. Uh Congo or Cup Girl said, Hey guys, jump in the photo with me. And Hayden, yeah and Hayden, which was really lovely. And again, Hayden's now seeing that we all know each other and that we're all friends. And you know, in my heart wouldn't believe he's putting two and two together. So we leave, we go around and we pick up the photo. I see it before you do. And I went, damn. That is incredible. The photo you took, I'm gonna let you tell like what happened because so during the photo, you tell him to do whatever.

SPEAKER_04

So Hayden's behind me. He has his left arm around my waist and his right arm over across the top of my chest. And I put my hands on top of his hands. I don't know. It's a consciously. I I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I suppose that we normally do together, by the way, folks who are listening at home, like boys. The way you were touching him, like is the way that we like if we were at a wedding, it would be a ball. Or like a concert, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You're behind me.

SPEAKER_01

He does the he does the arm around your chest, and then he puts the hand on the shoulder. This time he went deep.

SPEAKER_04

And he's grabbing me, and I he's behind me, and all I remember, and it still plays my head, he says, Is this okay? And I said, Yeah, yeah, this this works. And all of a sudden, I feel myself shaking. I've met him what like 20 times.

SPEAKER_01

That would have been number 20.

SPEAKER_04

And I started getting nervous, and I start shaking. So uh the photo happens so quickly, and then I just jumped forward and I was like, oh my god, thank you, thank you. And he was like, Happy birthday. I hope you have a great day. I think I rushed out of there so quickly, I forgot to hug him goodbye because I was so nervous and just like, oh my god, oh my god, did this really happen? And I'm walking out of there, like it's my first time ever meeting Hayden. Like, oh my gosh, this just happened. I'm so nervous, it just really happened. Oh my gosh. And I'm freaking out, and then you show me the photo. I was like, oh my gosh, it really did happen.

SPEAKER_01

It's so good. The photo of both of you turned out so good. And when we we turned to leave the second time, because we didn't leave the the photograph area. I leaned in and I was like, hey, thanks again for you know for the photo with Nellie. And he's like, I got you, man, I got you. You're good, you're good. And I just was walking going, I just paid this guy to hug my girlfriend. To hug my girlfriend. And like, I'm thanking him. But when I saw the photo, I went, This is the moment you've been waiting for. It's such a mic drop. We immediately, out of respect, sent the photo before anything to Jess.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Jess immediately responded in all caps. Look at his smile. And it's it's it's true, hon. I've seen a lot of photo photos with Hayden smiling. I think as a as whatever our relationship as you know, meeting him at conventions now 20 times, there is a little extra in that smile that was acknowledged by Bader's girl, which gives it credibility that he really turned it on for you in that photo. And I'm so happy for you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can never leave. I swear, it feels like the first time, every time, like you said, the shaking and stuff, it never leaves. But Nellie, you killed your dark side photo with your boots and everything. You killed it. And that photo with Haidanist to die for. And I said, I was like, Nelly, he kind of looks like he's meeting you because you look so cool and like you know, casual to be there. And he looks like he's overly smiling and almost kind of red. Like he's excited to meet you. So it's I thought so too.

SPEAKER_01

I I I thought so too. And it was funny because we came back and Nellie went to go get the our dog at her mom's, and you showed the photo to your mom, and her mom looks at her and just goes, Thank God John's not a jealous guy.

SPEAKER_04

She was like, Oh my goodness. It is, it's amazing.

SPEAKER_01

I'm so happy for that window's on the wall. Yeah, it it really, it really was. And the amount of people that commented on it, even guys were like, and right after John pulled out his lightsaber, you know. Like everyone commented on that photo. So it was a it was a thrilling way. And then we met him after. And when I said, because I always say we'll see you later, and then I said, Hey man, we'll, you know, we might see you in Miami. And he was like, huh? I was like, we might have a family reunion, so we might catch you in Miami. And I go, You're gonna be in Miami. He goes, Oh yeah, right. And he's like, he signed my card.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_01

Before uh once you said that, he gave you he he kind of stood up and did and didn't give me the normal handshake. We did the bro handshake.

SPEAKER_04

Which you lost your mind.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was just like, so it was nice with saying goodbye. His mom, uh the agent's mom said goodbye. We ignored, you know, uh Anthony the agent, and uh we all acknowledged each other.

SPEAKER_04

And and he asked me, he was like, Are you having a good birthday? And I was like, uh Yeah, yeah. Like, duh, you gave me a good birthday.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I yeah, I I I couldn't believe you remembered so it was lovely, and then you guys were so kind to wait for us, and we all went and had a late lunch and just got to share kind of our experience. Stories, yeah. That we're all we all didn't know each other, we were all bonded, and it was nice to kind of have that quiet moment at the end of the con.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it made it, it was really sweet, and you know, it kind of helps the post-con depression.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, that's a real thing.

SPEAKER_02

It is like this week has been bad going back to work and normal life. It's like, oh, okay. I miss the con.

SPEAKER_01

I do too.

SPEAKER_02

But thanks, babe, for my photo with Hidden. Yeah, you want that to look at when you miss it, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. Well, Bo, real quick, I want I'm dying to know what is what was your apex moment of this convention? What was your absolute favorite moment?

SPEAKER_02

Oh gosh. That's such a hard one because see, I think this con will be one I compare every other one to. It was it was truly that good. I don't know. I really loved him signing that Polaroid and remembering me. I I think I will never forget that moment of the first time he really remembered that I'd been there. And it's funny because I was over it at that point. I was embarrassed. I'd threaten my hair in a ponytail. Like I was like, I don't care anymore. You know, I'm embarrassed, I'm not even gonna talk that much. I'm just gonna get it signed and get out of his way. And then when he said that and just kept talking to me, I was like, okay, this made it all worth it. Everything that I've done this past year, it's just, I'm like, I thank Star Wars for really giving me all of this in my life, seriously.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So that would be your favorite memory of the entire weekend involving a celebrity.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so what would be your favorite m memory of the weekend that didn't involve a celebrity?

SPEAKER_02

Um not involving anybody. It would have to be something with all of us. I mean, one of our long car rides in traffic, or our recap was really fun. I saved your poster. You almost left your restaurant.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my God. I had this is my Revenge of the Sith, Matt Ferguson, bottleneck, silk screen that's been everywhere that I'm getting signed up. And you have like five signatures, five signatures, including Jemmy and Ian, even wrote execute order 66 right across Vader's helmet. And I left it in the restaurant. We got to the car, which was kind of parked down the street, and you were looked at me and you were like, your poster. And I was like, sweet baby Jesus.

SPEAKER_05

That's what happens to you at margaritas.

SPEAKER_01

I know I think.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I think because I had kept up with it for the, you know, when we were waiting outside for three hours, and then while y'all went in the line again, I kept up with it. So it's almost like I, it was subconsciously in my head to keep up with it, and I turned around and I was like, I'm gonna keep happy. And you didn't thank you.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, that was lifesaver. This place we went to was right on the river walk, and it had been nominated six years in a row for having the best margarita in San Antonio, and it was so big that you had to hold it with two hands.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I had two of them.

SPEAKER_04

And Bo doesn't drink.

SPEAKER_01

And Bo doesn't drink, a woman of faith, which we love. And and I had two of those drinks, and I walked out of there just, you know. Yeah, it was it was wonderful. So, all right, well, Bo, as this is a really unique position, and I think that you need to share the story because you said something to me when we spoke after we got back, and you know, these conventions when you meet someone, you said it's like the best, you know, 20 seconds of your life. And I was like, that's such a great way to describe it. How did you describe the experience to read in your family once you got back?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I mean, like I said, my okay, so my parents have never seen Star Wars. They have no idea anything about it, they don't really care about it, but they're happy for me. But like I said, so I had a 15-hour drive home. So we left at 6 a.m. I got back at 9:30 at night. So I was exhausted. So I was kind of just laying it all out there for them when I got home, no, because that'll give you adrenaline again. And I pulled out all my photos and they were like, How many did you get this weekend? Because usually I come home with only one. I usually only do one day. And I had like 12 this time, and I was like, a lot. And I just laid it all out for them. And I was, I mean, I don't think it's something you can understand until you do it.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And how great it really is. But they were very happy for me. I just told them, you know, like, went in there and he remembered me. It makes it all worth it. And I I explained it in detail, like I have on the pod. And of course, they, you know, they're confused because they don't know who they even are, but they're like, Well, I if you're happy, we're happy, but we don't want to know how much money you spent.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like And then, and then what they don't know is you immediately are like, Okay, well, when can we do this again?

SPEAKER_05

Yes, yes, yes.

SPEAKER_01

When can I get my fit? And so there's been a whole text chain about Raleigh versus Miami. Where's the other one uh that you turned us on? Cincinnati. Are you already looking for your next experience?

SPEAKER_02

I am because he's only announced for three more in the States as of right now. So, and they're kind of spread out. I mean, Raleigh's next month, and then Cincinnati's in September, and then there's nothing else. So I'm kind of thinking I'm gonna hit both. So I know it's so addicting though. You don't know when you do it, and then it's more like I want to see my friends, and the club, but also she's a cute. But Reed, the office people, Angela and Dwight in the office, are coming to Raleigh. And so I think I might convince Reed to hit that one with me. Yeah, that's nice, yeah. But he's not allowed in my Hayden photo. He knows.

SPEAKER_01

I get it. Hey, I get it. I saw what happens when you're not in the Hayden photo. Yeah, yeah, he knows. Um well, that's really cool. We look forward to meeting Reed, and we had such a good time with you and Haley and Gabby and everyone, Josiah, Josiah's friends, and so many people who I'm sorry I'm forgetting, but it was just a cup girl, obviously. But it was just so nice to cross paths with like-minded people and to just share your passion with people. And I think that's what Star Wars is. If someone asks me to describe it, I always say it's magic. You can't describe how magic works.

SPEAKER_02

I'm also I'll see all that celebration too. So it's like, yeah, celebration, yes.

SPEAKER_01

Next yeah, there's so much, hopefully, it will happen between now and then. I I have a tab right now, a window open, and Supercon, the tickets, the hotel. Oh, you do, the everything is pulled up, and I'm just like, all I have to do is press submit uh on about six different tabs. So I don't know. We can't go to Raleigh.

SPEAKER_02

Or since I hate that we are such, I'm such a bad influence for y'all, and y'all are a bad influence for me. We're all trying to persuade each other to come where we're each going.

SPEAKER_01

So we're all enablers, um, but it's a beautiful thing. So, all right, final question. Your phone rings, and it's on someone on the other line saying, Hey, Bo, I really would love to grab dinner, just the two of us, and catch up. And it can be either Hayden Christensen or Ewan McGregor.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I know.

SPEAKER_01

Who would you choose?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, you know, this is awful.

SPEAKER_01

Um, now you know how Jess feels.

SPEAKER_02

No, yeah, I listened to her pod to prepare for this one.

SPEAKER_01

Um Hayden or Ewan, who would you who would you go hang out with?

SPEAKER_02

It uh well Hayden's as far as we know single, and Ewan is very taken.

SPEAKER_01

Um no one's saying anything about that now. Hang on a second. No, he's not a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_01

Are you talking romance over here or what?

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no, but it does change the vibe a little bit. Yeah, no, understandable.

SPEAKER_01

But I feel like well, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it does change the vibe just a little bit. But Ewan, Ewan's my uh Ewan's my hero. I am very, very outgoing and talkative, and I can talk all day long. And I feel Ewan would match that, and I might get you know, Hayden's very laid back and introverted, and I might be a little too much, maybe. Um Ewan and me, I think, would have an amazing time. I I I can see that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think so. I think he'd be a great dinner guest.

SPEAKER_02

Match the energy. Yeah. Yeah, we would match each other very well. Now, Hayden, I might like freak out a little bit because I'm where I would just talk the entire time. So, but um obviously I would take either one of them.

SPEAKER_01

I hear you. Yeah, that's the answer right there. It's it's funny because you know, Hayden's line behind his curtain was me. I'm used to a couple of tables, and there was just one tiny table between you and him, and the curtain, and it was really intimate. The lights were different. You're right. It was weird that him and Tom were right next to each other where he's like blasting Mariah Carey, and you know, Hayden's is like you're in this like quiet, like Zen, like uh, you know.

SPEAKER_02

I really think it was because of Maple, because usually Hayden has like Kanye or J. Cole or some music on. I we were joking, we were like, did Tom steal his speaker?

SPEAKER_01

Because Yeah, Tom Tom was like a party, and it was like they were right next to each other.

SPEAKER_02

Um yes, and they're totally different vibes. When I met Tom, I just want to dance when somebody was playing, and he cut out a dance for me, and I screamed. I I'm sure that I'm a like I said, I'm very extroverted, I'm very loud, and I screamed on accident. And I was like, I bet the people outside the tent are like, what did he just do to this poor girl? I like squealed and he bent over laughing because he was, I don't know, like, but he's very, very, very over the top, and I loved it. But yeah, they were total opposite vibes right beside each other. It was funny.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. I was kind of looking at Hayden, and he's just he's so like dreamy. Like, you know, you could see the way I could see the way he was interacting with everyone and looking at him. He's just got that thing about him.

SPEAKER_04

The eye contact.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the eye contact. He gives you his undivided attention, people who make you feel like you're the only person in the world. He's just a he's got that going on, and it's just so exciting to see him have that effect on so many people. Even you. Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Well very much so, yes. Even the guys.

SPEAKER_01

I have a plan. I did not, I did not, there was something I wanted to ask him. I'm not gonna say what it is, but it Saturday just was not the right time to ask him. But I am gonna say, hey man, there's something I kind of want to do is would you be cool with this?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, like two guys hang out.

SPEAKER_01

Well, just don't I'm leaving it right there. So we'll uh we'll let you know here very soon whether or not we book Miami. But since we're gonna be there anyway, I think I think we are. To everyone we met at this convention, whether it be briefly or you know, hung out in a line with or the talent, Matthew Wood, that was an incredible exchange. I can't even I that's for another episode because this we'll see what happens. But I just want to thank everyone for making this experience so special. From the bartenders at the hotel to meeting you, Bo, and um the talent. It was just it was really wonderful. And the other thing that we're gonna have to save for the next time you're on the show, and we look forward to having you back soon is this is the story about the not-on plunger at your hotel.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god. Yeah, when y'all were like, what's your favorite part of the con? And I was like, not my hotel, definitely.

SPEAKER_01

The not-on plunger at the La Quinta, dude. La Quinta. Don't stay there when you're in San Antonio.

SPEAKER_03

Um never recommend that place to anybody. If you like them, don't recommend that place.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man, our hotel was fabulous, and it was part of the Space Con recommendation to hide it on the riverwalk was wonderful. So well, both thank you so much. We thank the world of you, and you were such the center of the circle on this trip, and we're thrilled to have gotten to know you through the podcast.

SPEAKER_04

Great energy. Yeah, you just made it so much more fun.

SPEAKER_02

I totally are so sweet. I love y'all so much. And we we were all like, if they ever get married, I better be invited to the wedding because I've been flying across the country. It's like I love y'all so much, and I think the world of y'all too, and I cannot believe I'm fangirling so hard that I was all about. I'm so excited. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yes, thank you for everything. I think you're uh correct me if I'm wrong, you're out in the car. You got to get back to work.

SPEAKER_05

So thank you so much.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. All right, you're seeing you next time.

SPEAKER_05

Have a good one. You too. Bye.

SPEAKER_01

Hi, this is Simon Cassianities with John and Nelly on the Twin Sons podcast.
