Well, I'm your host, Bill Young, and I invite you to listen up, give me up, and buckle up as we play with this creative production of coaching that helps humans become their best. In this episode of Coaching Magic, I sit down with Caroline Malouf. Caroline is an EOS implementer, and we open the podcast by talking about drive, impact. We also uh roll through the topics of surrounding yourself with the people who support you and who give you energy. And all throughout the podcast, we weave in and out of the theme. Our life is our curriculum, both for us as coaches and for the people for the people that we coach. There's also a really great segment on gratitude and expanding gratitude and how that drives Caroline. And we have a fun little twist on it. So I encourage you to buckle up, grab your notebook, join Caroline and I for a conversation, maybe even grab some coffee. But as always, buckle up and enjoy. That's right. At the very least, we just hang out for an hour and that's fun. Yes. That's fun too. Um, Caroline, I am so excited to have you finally on the Coaching Magic podcast. We have, you and I have tried to make this work. It's possible for a year. I think so. Yeah. Yeah. I think I started Coaching Magic. That's right. And I've been so excited to have you on. And as I was preparing for this today, this phrase went through my mind and then it shifted. So I would love us to play with this shifted version of this phrase today, if you're willing to play. And I know you you like to play. So the phrase went through my mind. Um, you know, we all have these great plans, and then life gets in the way. And uh, and this, you know, just you being on the podcast has been like life is getting in the way. And if you're not watching this, I just did dropped my air quotes and in the way. Because as that phrase moves through my mind, it also shifted to life doesn't get in the way, life is the way. And I've been playing with this. Um I guess I guess I'll just call it a phrase too. I use it with my own clients of your life is our curriculum. So I don't have a curriculum that I take my clients through, the individual clients. I don't have a curriculum. It is your life. When you show up in your life, we use that as our curriculum. So I'm wondering, Carolyn, if we can play with your life, what does as our curriculum or your curriculum and just sharing some things, maybe just even what is at the top of your heart about how your life is your curriculum as a um growing yourself as a coach? What initial thoughts do you have right there?
SPEAKER_00No, I love that opening because my morning was filled with things that I was not anticipating, but I was like, I am going to make this podcast number one for me for me, like literally this month. Is it like that time is not changing? It's my time with Jill and it's precious. And I did it. I'm here. Um, and my the morning involved a lot of amazing women. And that is what is driving me and guiding me right now in life. So at 9 a.m., I started with my wise women group. Actually, call ourselves Muddy Buddies. I think you might have heard this, but it's because we sit with each other in the mud and we are planning for a retreat. So every year we get together, as you know, um for an annual retreat. And I'm hosting this year in June in Charleston. So I have 12 amazing women, or 11, I guess, including me as 12, coming to Charleston. We're in like the throes of planning it because now we're three months out, and I want to knock it out of the park. So I was with my planning committee this morning and they inspired me in many different ways. And they're all like, You've got so much on your plate. Let me take this, let me take that. I'm like, that would be wonderful. Um kind of have like, because I know the area and the town and all the great things, I've got things going and they're gonna take it and run with it. So that happened. And then as I was walking in, um, so I'm at the Harbor Club, which is a beautiful business club that inspires me downtown. This is where I come to work in between sessions, and I two women that I admire were sitting at lunch. And I just said, hello, I am on my way to find a room because I'm about to hook to sit down with someone I admire for a podcast. And they gave me a hug and said, You're gonna knock it out of the work. And I was like, I intentionally did not prepare because that was the directions I followed, right? To come in and be myself. So as I think about life and life being the way, um, it's the women in my life that have made a huge impact recently. Um, and helping, and then it's the the I have a great community of working women that are moms and um working, like working day in and day out and doing what they love. And that's just been a community that's been power, powerful for me to help help drive me as a coach.
SPEAKER_01Oh my goodness, there's so many different ways we could go with that. It's uh, but I really want to pull on the thread of groups of women surrounding you. If we think about what, what, uh, how does Caroline drive what fuel do you put in? We just heard several different stories of you, number one, you put yourself in the middle of these groups. So you're not you're not extracting yourself. Uh, one one of the things we know in coaching is that coaching can be a very isolating profession. But I just saw you put yourself in the middle of your club, you put yourself in the middle of a hug of two women, you put yourself in the middle of your group of wise women, and that is where life show is showing up for you with both support and inspiration. I heard both of those words.
SPEAKER_00Right. Right. And that's what I that's what I need in life, and that's what I want to give to my clients and my community as well. The impact of that. It's huge.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Our life, our life is our curriculum. And if, especially for coaches, coaches need lots of stories to tell, they need lots of uh metaphors to tell. And I know if I just go about my day aware and awake, and I put myself in those, uh, in those groups, in those spaces where I am inspired, invariably here comes along a client that is asking for help with this getting unstuck with something, and I have a story to share or a metaphor that I noticed. And it's because um I have surrounded myself with inspiration in those spaces, and it sounds like you're finding that too. Yes, and we're all on the same journey. Yeah, that's where we met. It's it's powerful, for sure. There are no detours, right? Yeah. One of my coaches says there are no detours. There, yeah, yeah, this is the way. Yes, there's the way. Um, Caroline, one of the one of the things that I have loved witnessing in you, both as you are in coaching magic and just in our wider community of coaches and wise women, is I sense in you this drive. So when we say drive, and you know, you and I both coach entrepreneurs, and when we say drive, it's this I like to feel it's a feeling of this energy, it kind of dri comes up from my gut, and it and I just I it sticks right here. If I don't do something with it, it gives me lots of tension, and it's like, oh Maslow described this as what one can be, one must be. It's like our potential, our human potential. And I sense a lot of this drive in you. And before I go any further, is that how you would describe yourself? Um, is this true? You have an immense amount of drive.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I I like the way how you called it drive and energy. And to me, like the word that I have been focusing on recently, which ties to like what are the important things? This life journey is the impact. And how do I take the energy and you know, the impact I'm supposed to make in the world and be intentional about it every moment, everyone I I encounter. But I do I do feel that way, and I'm starting to see that in my oldest, who's almost six now. Like he has something that that I have, and we share this thing. It's got this energy to like share and help others, which is fun to watch develop.
SPEAKER_01That is so much fun when you can see it in your children. I was with a coach over the weekend and he said, Our children are our greatest mirrors. Like, oh, that feels true. That feels true. So that's that's kind of fun for you to see the drive in him. That's awesome. Um, I love something that you just did, Caroline. And um, sometimes on the Coaching Magic podcast, we slow things down and I like to point things out. It just helps all the other coaches notice what's going on. So when I asked Caroline this question, I used the word drive. I explained what it meant for me. I said drive, I said energy, I used those words. And Caroline, in the most loving way, she she threaded those two words together and said, here's the word that resonates with me. And she used impact. And when we do this as coaches, what we're doing is we're taking one person's vocabulary words and we're connecting them with another person's vocabulary words. And I like to call it we make ourselves or the moment or the situation or the experience very accessible. Right. It's accessible. So now we're like Caroline, like, oh, we're on the same page. I called it drive. She translated that all that drive and energy into impact, and boom, we're on the same page. But she listened, she saw my words, heard my words, and then translated it into a word for her. And it's uh it's really a useful skill as coaches to help things be accessible. Um, Caroline, did you note you were doing that?
SPEAKER_00No, I didn't, but hearing you say that, it gave me a sense of comfort that I was like, okay, she sees something in me that I see in myself that I'm trying to like I have a ton of energy all the time. And I'm like, how do I channel that human energy, which I love that part of what we do as coaches, but to the to make an impact? Um, and I love how coaching magic, and I mean it's all about talking about that energetic listening and how do we take the energy that we have and use it to be magical?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes, all that that art, the art to coaching, there's science, there's art, you put them together, it's magic. I love it. So this drive and energy translated into Carolyn's words. I I can I can almost see this. It's like here's here's this energy, but what am I gonna do with it? It's this impact. Um, can you uh such a such a beautiful image? Can you share with us from your heart what is it that you are uh where does that impact come from? Where does the drive to impact others come from? Maybe is there something that does really um inspire you? Um, let us into the heart of Caroline. Why do you do all of this fun work?
SPEAKER_00And I I have so much gratitude for finding this path as a coach and in the phase of life that I'm in. Because I, in the past, I was in the grind, I always had drive that like always since I was born. And that drive was channeled into different parts of my career path. And I always felt like before I was in the entrepreneurial space, that I had separate parts of life: the work side, family side, the friend side, right? They were they didn't intertwine. But as a coach, what I'm learning and doing and growing to to become every day, and and what I do is helping me in every other aspect of my life. And I think that I feel that gratitude every morning when I wake up, and that keeps me going. And you know, the skills that I learn when I'm helping two owners that are going through a challenge, that then I have a friend who has a health challenge she's going through that comes to me. And you know, it it just it collides into one. And and then going back to life is the way. So being able to live it where you know what how I'm growing in my profession is how I'm helping others in every other aspect, every human being that I touch. And it's not separate things, it's all one.
SPEAKER_01There's just um there's a piece of art I've just created, and maybe I'll put it in the show notes for this one. But uh the phrase that went on the piece of art is joyful awakening of the human spirit. And I just, as you shared, you know, the I can work with two owners, I can work with my child, I can work with a friend. And I'm using the word work, but it's really I what I'm just sensing in this, this is the full, the full awakening of the human spirit of Caroline. And now you just you get you get to, you're grateful for the ability to have that impact as a whole being. It's not, oh, I do this thing over here for work, and then I do this thing over here for the kids, and I do this thing over here for a friend.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. And one of the things you think too, because I feel like ever since I started coaching magic and you know, some of the exercises that we did, joyful has been my word of the year. Like, because I'm also very like structured and regimented and like gotta get all this stuff done. So let's have the plan to get all the stuff done. I'm like, but where's the joy? Like it's there's gotta be lead with the joy, and you have to have some of that structure to do it all, right? But uh joy every step of the way is important, and I think that uh the power of reflection and slowing down. I mean, the power of slowing down is something you have taught. And it's so hard. But you know, that that time to just sit. I mean, I hear every time I listen to your podcast all the time because I'm like in the car and you know, just hearing all the things, and it's the it always comes up in your talks with coaches. It's the time to sit with it and slow it down. And for me, when I do that, I'm like, okay, let's bring the joy back. How do I spark the joy and what's gonna happen next? And just coming back to that and the laughter too, and the dancing and all the different ways to to bring the joy back. I love that because a lot of times it just feels too serious.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it does. It it can get really serious. There's there's parts of um there's parts of maybe during my meditation or uh, you know, when I'm sitting with a client that I I start to really feel the impact that an attuned, passionate, dedicated coach can really have. And it is those sparks of joy. And I remind myself that when uh when I am in my spark of joy, uh that is that is that alone is impact for the world.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_01I don't need to go do something with that spark of joy or show up or use this word or be very disciplined. Um I'm disciplined to my joy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. There you go.
SPEAKER_02There you go.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love that. So this this drive, then, this impact, really uh you've used the word gratitude many times. And I'm curious, this gratitude. Um uh gratitude, is there gratitude to something? Is the is it uh pure gratitude itself, gratitude of just expansion of awareness? Is there is there a spin or a twist that this gratitude takes for you when when you really think about the impact?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I think that part of it is I I always think about what my path could have been. And somehow, you know, I've been pulled into coaching through my experience in learning EOS and you know, using it to grow and scale a company through hard times. Uh, and now I'm on the other side of things and I'm helping others. And it's just I feel grateful because it's allowing me to to live a life, an intentional life where I I can be thoughtful, I can take clarity breaks, I can really, you know, be intentional with my time versus being in kind of that grind and that drive where you know you're you're working all the time and you come home and you're exhausted and you're depleted. I don't feel that way. You know, and I energy is what I need. That's like number one. And and so how do I get it, you know, through the day and then, you know, going into the night and family and everything. I I I feel grateful that I've found a profession that allows me to do that.
SPEAKER_01There's there's something that I'm sensing in this gratitude. And I've I just read it. There's a there's a book that is highly recommended by Tim Ferris. It's um awareness by Anthony DeMello. Okay. And in this, in this book, he's talking about, he's talking about gratitude. And now just as I'm sharing the story, I'm like, I hope I heard it there. I may have heard it somewhere else. But it all all the threads lead back to everywhere. So he was uh he was talking about gratitude and in one of these essays about the thing that he is most grateful for is the uh is the ability to be aware. And that's what I just heard in your response to where does this gratitude come from? You are aware that this default future that you could have had, just like you know, bumbling along, just doing the grind, you are now aware that that is not your future. Yes, you are in the future of your intention, your intentional choice.
SPEAKER_00Yes, and I see so many others that are in that world, right? You you just see it through, you know, life and interactions with with others that are you know working through the grind, but not loving what they do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's uh, and then when we are aware as coaches, we get to lovingly invite or you know, open the door or shine a light on something. And one of my biggest uh feelings of gratitude, of awe, of expansion is when you know I have asked the question or I have sat in silence with a client and and you can see the light go on. Oh, it's so yummy, it's so yummy, it'll keep me coming back at time. It's yummy. Yes, it's yummy. Yeah, so so yummy, so yummy. Um, I'm gonna switch uh it's possible I'm gonna switch topics. Maybe it will lead to the same exact topic, but I want to also just touch on something else that I've noticed as one of your superpowers, one of your uh sparkly pieces of magic. And this is your ability to um to learn and witness something and then to immediately apply it. And in some ways, it's the same topic. I'm just realizing now that our life is our curriculum. Um, I'm wondering, Caroline, is that a normal thing for you? Do you have you noticed that in your life? You're like, I learn, I apply, I learn, I apply, or I learn, and oh, this is um sometimes I call it just in time learning. I know I do that. Like, oh, I'm glad I just read that paragraph in the book because here it is. It's it's feeding itself up to me, something to apply in the lab. You did that several times in coaching magic. Uh, you pulled lessons and applications from when you had your baby. Um so I'm just wondering if that's a natural part of your magic, if you notice that, if you do it on
SPEAKER_00Purpose, what I think, you know, I that now that you I hear it out loud, I'm like, I do do that. And I'm trying to be intentional because it's you know that so much of what we learn, right, it goes in one ear out the other. So the application of it, and I feel like the at the time when I was doing coaching magic and I was in just a major chat change in life. We had our third baby, my dad was really sick all of a sudden, and like I needed to like step up to the plate. And I was like, in coaching magic, I just heard all these things. Like, this is my time, this is it. Like it gave me a superpower beyond what I ever thought imaginable and a challenging time. And I think that was something that I shared with the team because I wasn't actively practicing as a coach with my clients, but was using the skills to help my dad and my family and my baby and the rest of you know, everyone that needed me at the time. And I look back and I'm like, how did I do that? And you know, we're on the other end of it, and every like we health is is everything. Um, but I've reflected a lot. I went on a walk with my dad um this weekend with my baby, who was like right there in my arms as we were going through a hard time. He's almost one, so now it's about a year ago. And I'm just sitting there. We went on a walk, and I'm sitting, we're walking, and everything is just full circle moment for me. And I feel like that's when all my moments happen is walking, like being outside, you know, feeling the breeze. But that that was big, and it brought me back to those coaching magic skills that you were teaching that helped my superpower come out when it was most needed. And I was the right person in the family to kind of handle the conversations with the doctors. I've been in medical care, I knew the the right people, all of the things, and you know, we we figured it out along the way, which was life-saving. Right doctor, right time, right place. And then here we are. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, it's again, I thought I was switching topics and I wasn't. That's so fun. Our life is our curriculum.
SPEAKER_02It is.
SPEAKER_01And it just it um it comes up when we need it. I'm just I'm sitting here receiving this story, and of course I know it, you know, from this angle back when you were in the school, and that now how grateful and aware I am that that came into your life at the moment when you needed it for the these life moments with baby and dad.
SPEAKER_00And that was like back, it was April, so we're coming up on it, but it was a time when I was having uh my third baby, a normal pregnancy was supposed to deliver the baby like end of April. My blood pressure randomly spiked. I was like, oh, it's just in a session with a client. This isn't real. And my doctor was like, well, it spiked again, and this does doesn't seem like it's just happening. I think we should deliver you early. And I'm like, okay, well, let's let's do it. And we did, and that was intentional because then it was two weeks later when my dad was sick, and I could it couldn't all happen at the same time. And I wasn't coaching magic at all, but all of it. It's like every moment, like you said, there's no detours. Every moment is helping to prepare you for the next.
SPEAKER_01When um when we say our life is our curriculum, I'm also gonna twist that just a little bit um and have this serendipity that the day you had the baby was the day of our first session of coaching magic. Right. So instead of Caroline being there with all of us, I got to hold up a picture of Caroline and the baby. I'm like, there she is, you guys, that's where she is. And I just remember the sweetness that your life brought into all of our lives of new life, of new beginnings, of you being this driven, uh beautiful, heart-centered, um, service-oriented, impact, impactful human. And here you are, you're having this baby and you're feeding into us, and you didn't even really know it. That wasn't intentional. And you were, and the whole day we kept um that you know, those sessions are recorded, so we would go, hi Caroline, when Caroline is, and just what a sweetness that brought into our session because of these serendipities and because of life. Not despite life, we can do this. It's oh no, like life that this was the rich part.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And in so many ways, the last year of that baby, he has changed me for the better. I mean, there's he just having him in the presence of our family, it's given us hope and through hard times and all the things, and he's continuing to do that. And I'm like, you know what?
SPEAKER_02God knows what we're doing.
SPEAKER_00He knows the plan, right? That's right.
SPEAKER_02That's right. I love you for that.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh it it it's just adorable. Babies are always welcome in my life, like always. They always change, change and enhance, expand the energy. I did uh I've been telling my children, now they're old, they're um 29, 23, and 19, almost 20. Right. And I tell them all the time, I'm like, someday a stranger is gonna let me hold their baby. It's gonna happen. And it just happened on an airplane like two weeks ago. Uh the baby was a baby was fussy, and I'm like, hey, I am kind of a baby whisperer. I'm a nice person. I've got three kids of my own. If you will allow me to hold your baby, and the dad went like this. Please make the baby. I'm like, worse magic. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love that. Yeah. Your dream came true.
SPEAKER_01I want to pull on a little thread here, and it um, and it could be you have a story, and maybe I have a story, but this is about let's talk about kiddos. Let's talk about children for a minute. Um I had just mentioned that someone said to me, like, your children are your greatest mirror. So, you know, I can kind of look at my kids and I'm like, ooh, because I'm worried about that, they're worried about that. Because I'm neurotic about this, they're neurotic about this. But also these sparkles, these sparkles and glimmer, glimmers. Uh, my oldest son about a year ago, he said, I'm gonna, I'm gonna quit my job and I'm gonna open a business. Yes, and I'm like, it I'm like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, you know, like uh a reflection of that. Where uh can you share maybe where your children add to or influence the impact that you have?
SPEAKER_02Yes, that's such a great question.
SPEAKER_00So, you know, I feel like there's so many parallels in the work I do for leadership teams to help them to be their best and the work I do as a parent, like we like we teach, right? And but it's so true, especially in the early years and and seeing the development. I mean, the the leaps and bounds that kids are going through in these early years is is truly fascinating. And I was like, okay, we've got a long time before we're like in first grade and like real school and really need to focus on what's happening. And but we're here. Uh so my oldest is gonna start first grade in the fall. And he like what what I see in him is me. He he's a hundred percent me. Um, in that his curiosity, he asks the good questions, he loves to learn. I mean, he wants to, he he wants to be a gemologist is is kind of what awesome.
SPEAKER_01You know, it's when you first study.
SPEAKER_00Then the next thing is we need to do that. Um, but I it's just it's scary, but also inspiring. And the impact that we have there is greater than any impact we will ever have. And so just you know, taking that time to like pause and reflect and see it versus just being in the autopilot, which that's a term that Megan Hegman taught me. But it's just the autopilot, you know, the same thing every day. But taking that moment, like, wow, look at the growth. And it's the gap and the gain. It's it's all of that. Um, but seeing and how different they are, seeing my son, you know, and developing his curiosity and my daughter, and there's just her caring nature and her love for others, and you know, that she's picking that up. Um, but and then we'll see what the the the youngest picks up. But his his nature, they're all very different, but seeing little pieces of us in them, and you've probably experienced that with all three, right? They have different parts of you, um, but all very different.
SPEAKER_01All very different. It's it's interesting what I'm feeling from your description of this you're describing using words, and I'm like, well, that's how I witnessed Caroline. This is how I witness you. So it's so it's so fun to hear you saying the same words about your children that I witness in you. There's there's also a um something that I really love that you shared about how your children impact your work as a coach, is you're watching growth. And in children, it's very obvious because they're growing so fast. Um, I used to be a preschool teacher and my favorite age was three. Favorite age to teach was three because they are at their most active. So they're moving and they can they can move and they have this coordination, but they're also at their most curious and sometimes defiant, and like I'm, you know, pushing the edges of what I know, but they're constantly learning things. So this growth that we see in children is sometimes hard to see in adults because adults maybe don't grow so fast on the outside. You know, someone said you're done growing when you're, you know, this certain age, like somewhere 18 to 24. I'm like, what? No, we're never done. We're never done growing for sure. Uh there's a there's a phrase on my wall out here, and it says, you can't give birth to an adult. And it reminds me that every time somebody walks in this room that they are we at at a beginner's mindset, um that they are gonna be learning something new, and I don't expect somebody to be like, boom, I got it, boom, I got it, boom, I got it. It's like, yeah, some of we're gonna maybe act like preschoolers for a while until we get to this stage, right?
SPEAKER_00Until we grow up. I love that. And and just thinking through it's just it's so much harder. I mean, when you're young, you're you're you're eight, you're in that learning environment all the time. And now that we're out of that, we have to think about it differently, but we're still we're still actively learning. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yep. We're still actively learning. Yep. Moldable.
SPEAKER_00And one of my favorite things that I've noticed about my kid, my children, because I've it's interesting to hear them talk about what I do because I've had them come to my session room and help me set it up, and they think it's about the little animals and they think it's so fun. But it's now when I leave in the mornings early when I have a session, it's like, good luck with your team, mommy. Like I hope they know that I'm going to help my teams become better humans. And that's how they that's how they talk about it. And I was like, that's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's right. I just help people become better humans. The human that they want to be, the human that they're driven to be, that um that motivation, that impact that they want to have, I get to help with that. Right. But um, this is I'm I'm also a person who loves to be in the space of gratitude, but the way you said it just added a little layer of gratitude to what I see in there. Just get to do that. Get to do that. And it starts with me. It always starts with me, meaning I am also on a journey to be my best as well. Always, always. Yeah, every day. Yep, every day. Um, Caroline, this has been so much fun to have this conversation with you. Thank you so much for making this happen. Putting yourself in a space where it happens. You honored to be here, yes. You are a person that can um, I've witnessed you have just a ton of capacity uh for things. And I also really honor your space when you prioritize and say, this thing's gotta go, and so that this thing can come in, and you're just a really beautiful, loving example of what it's looking like to be a better human these days, like better human. So thank you for that. Um, I do have a fun game for us to play, if you would like to on our way out. Would you like to play a game?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Yes, I would love to play the game. I love the invitation.
SPEAKER_01Okay, here we go. So sometimes we play the game with the sweet ass affirmations cards. Today, what we're playing a game with is this. This is a little deck, it's called Carpe Diem, and they're pop open cards. Have you seen these? I haven't. Carpe Demon. They are so much fun. Um, so you just here's a box. It's like fortune cookies with no cookie. And then there's a little stack of cards, so you can see. I'm gonna pull, I'm gonna pull one. There you go. Okay. See, I'm not cheating. I'm not cheating. Yep. And now I'm gonna pop it open and I'll read it. And then you share what comes up for you, and I'll share what comes up for me. Okay, okay. So this is the Carpe DM deck. So uh see the day. So now you just kind of open this little card. See, isn't that fun? That is fun. Yeah, satisfying. Oh, I need my glasses. Here we go. Oh, okay. This is this is what it says. The future is always beginning now. That's Mark Strand. The future is always beginning now.
SPEAKER_00I would love to think that my future begins now because I'm in the presence of Jill Young. I love it. Um, but you know, I I love what every it kind of ties to everything we've just talked about. Doesn't it though? It does. It does. Yes. And it's the being in the moment, the gratitude. I feel like that that is what's gonna allow me, those around me, to really, to really pause and to thrive and set themselves up for the future. So I do think that you know, preparing for the future is about the gratitude for what got you here. To, you know, it's it's every moment. Like we're not the same people that we were yesterday. And I think about that all the time. And it's the experiences that are gonna set us up for success and believing in the path. Like you said, life is not the detours, it's the journey that we're on. There we go.
SPEAKER_02It's right now, it's just right now.
SPEAKER_01Yes, right now uh what comes up for me is I have uh in coaching magic, um um Erin Theme asked one day. She's like, Okay, what really is magic? And we unpacked it and it was really great. I just love her so much. And when when we came down to one word for it, it was presence. It was presence. And your presence is in the now. Your presence is in the now. Like, here it is. Your future begins now. And uh um just this last weekend, talk about just in time learning. Just this weekend, I was walking through a forest, and I'm thinking, wow, I really love, I was just really grateful for how life gives me lessons. It feels like life teaches me lessons just a little bit at a time. Rarely do I get the smack over the two by four smack over the head with a two by four, and how lovely that was. And I was talking to my coach about that, and he said, it could be, Jill, that life gives you lessons and life lines up these presents gifts for you, and you just choose to open them and accept the gift. And it could be that other people ignore the present, ignore the present, ignore the present, get it, ignore the present, like right now in the present. And and don't open those gifts and look and pause and be with it and be present, and that's maybe how you've come to a place where you're like, Wow, I just really like my life. Yeah, because I just keep opening up the present. So the future is always beginning right now with this present.
SPEAKER_00This present, and this is a a present to be on this podcast to just have the conversation with you. It is, it's a gift, which creates the calls that create you gotta be in the present, right? We're having a conversation, and it's just like what comes to mind. And I think that's also you know, going back to being open and honest, that's what it is. It's what not don't think about like you can think about it, right? Take a minute about it, but then what what comes up for you? And I love that phrase that you use.
SPEAKER_01Awesome. Well, Caroline, this was fun. It was a fun game. The future is always beginning now. It's always beginning now. Love to end it right here on this note. Thank you for coming on the Coaching Magic podcast. We will see you in the playground. Is there anything else you'd like to share with the with the other coaches here who are listening? Little piece of encouragement or anything like that before we sign off.
SPEAKER_00I love leaving with the future is now. Because that can take into to my day. Hopefully, everyone listening can take into their day and creates a new frame of mind. Perfect. I love it. And I love you. Thank you, Carol. I love you. Thank you, Jill. Bye-bye.
