Welcome back, H8ters. Your latest, greatestmand hopefully your favoritest wrestling podcast brings you another Match of the week. Billiam brings us his pick this week and it comes from No Way Out 2009. Edge finds himself in a predicament after losing his WWE Championship in the opening Elimination Chamber Match. Find out how the Rated R Superstar made history!

Hey! What's up, haters? How y'all doing? We are so happy to see you. Who are we? Welcome. Ooh, none other than your latest and greatest, and hopefully your favorite wrestling podcast in the entire land. We are the section eight wrestling podcasts. I am kills at wheels.

I am billiam. And tonight we are discussing our next match of the week. Yeah, we know Elimination Chamber was a few weeks ago, but wrestling is always alive in my heart. And you can watch, especially with things on Netflix nowadays, you can watch whenever whatever match you want, whenever you want. I fell asleep to WrestleMania 17 last night. We're in WrestleMania season. We gotta brush up on our history. So this is what this segment is for, haters. So with that being said, this week's set match of the week is going all the way back to a pair of elimination chambers from No Way Out 2009, before they even changed the name to just Elimination Chamber. It had a pair of matches featuring the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship, which is how they did things back in the day. Indeed. Uh so we start off with the first match of the evening. Basically, both of these matches revolve around one of my favorite and one of the greatest uh superstars of all time, and that is the rated R superstar Edge. Now going into tonight's Edge is the current WWE champion. No, World Hate Champion. No, World. WWE, that's right. Yes, he was the current, he was the WWE champion. Yes. Going into the match. And he goes into the first elimination chamber. He actually starts off the first chamber match against Jeff Hardy.

Again, let me let me and I don't mean to cut him, but let me give you those names, everybody. Let me throw you some, throw you some throw you some back because uh there was one name in here. I was like, oh, oh yeah. So in this match, he already said Edge and Jeff Hardy started us off, but we had Edge, Jeff Hardy, Triple H Undertaker, Victoria, and Vladimir Kozlov.

Oh uh oh man is Rusif before Rusif. It is the Rusif that did not work. Hmm, what a pull. That's right. Wow, yeah, yeah. He's the stone faced Estonian. I don't know if he's from Estonia, I just wanted to use stone and stone, but uh he was constantly mean mugged, very stone jaw, uh just yeah, just no personality at all, very stiff in the ring, but it's basically what Rusef is doing it now, and he's doing it great.

So those are my Rusev has Mike skills. Vladimir Kozlov did not have Mike skills, correct?

Yeah, yeah. So with those six names and the two starting off with such a historic historic history, Jesus. Uh Edge and Jeff Hardy, um it's a great match before the third competitor even joins the match. Jeff Hardy pins Edge, and Edge is eliminated from the elimination chamber.

Uh yeah, he he he's out of there before anyone comes out of the pods.

Yeah, yeah. So um yeah, just it is it eats up the rest of the time with him being shocked, Jeff Hardy shocked, um, the crowd is everybody, everybody laughing at him.

There's just this one shot, trip big shows laughing at him, triple H just gives this big everybody just and Edge is just no restart the match, restart the and he's out, edge is out, and he's pulling his hair out, just just doesn't know what happened, can't figure it out. Goes for a spear, and Jeff Hardy just rolls him up and two, three, it is it you're just like whole dang, yeah man.

Yeah, uh so you know, after that, everybody comes out one after another after another. People get eliminated, one after another after another. It the final two are Jeff Hardy and Triple H. And we're like, maybe this is the time Jeff Hardy can finally win. No, triple H beats Jeff Hardy.

If it was anybody else standing across from him, then triple H, because I I I think I watched this in real time. Um I think if it was anybody else other than Triple H, yeah, but uh yeah. Remember y'all, Triple H was John Cena before John Cena, so he won everything. We we we know the reign of terror. Triple H just won all the time.

So because this was uh this was leading into WrestleMania 25. Correct. So Triple H was facing Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton for the championship, correct and the collection of the next elimination chamber goes on to WrestleMania, and uh we will get there to the next match, which uh features another name, which is like so the next match is featuring the world heavyweight champion John Cena going up against Mike Knox. Mike Knox. When I was watching this, I was like, oh yeah, he had a fun feud with Rey Mysterio, who was also in this match, which is why they put him in the match. So John Cena, Mike Knox, Kane, yes, and then we hear Kofi Kingston's music hits. Kofi jumps out his pyro hits, he's got the big smile on his face. He goes to go up the stairs, and Edge throws him into the stairs, beats the hell out hell out of him, and concertoes Kofi Kingston and proceeds to lock himself inside Kofi's chamber.

And I just remember watching this real time being so pissed off because I'm a big Kofi Kingston fan. It made me so mad. Because we're like Kofi's finally getting a shot.

Yep. And I was like, I was I was at my other buddy's house. I was like, I was like, can he do this? Is are are they letting him do this? This is what's going on. Is this it's what and then and then they lock him in and they're like, okay, the but they get the other two competitors, which is Ray Mysterio and Chris Jericho, bell rings, match begins.

So Edge, real quick, real quick, I do want to interject just a bit because it does tie in between these matches. There is a point where Edge is backstage. Uh, he's he's talking to Vicky because this is when he and Vicky were doing that whole uh, I guess they were together thing, whatever. Edge was trying to use her, and he's like, Well, you just gotta I don't know, you gotta you gotta you gotta restart the match, you just gotta go, you gotta tell him, you gotta and Vicky just goes like hey hey, you lost. Yeah.

Yeah, I don't know if they were either engaged or buried.

He's just like, he he's just I gotta do something now. So yeah, and then that leads to yeah, but I just thought that was funny.

Yeah. So it leads to uh hopefully comeback kid Chris Jericho, uh starting with Rey Mysterio. Yes, uh yeah, uh it's I mean it's another fun match. Mike Knox is one of those guys where he's really big, he had really long beard, long hair, but he moves really quickly too. And when he hit that flying crossbody, um, it looks like he breaks Rey Mysterio in like 27 pieces because he just flies full force, full crossbody array, and just I mean, he he's done it more than once. I can't remember if he did it in this match particularly. But long story short, Edge is gonna be your champion, kids. Edge wins this championship. He is the only superstar to be in two elimination chambers in one night. He's the only superstar to lose one belt in one night and win the other in the same night. Edge is one of the greatest superstars of all time.

When when when you talk about moments when when when we when the term for given to Edge is the ultimate opportunist, and this is just one of those instances that solidifies that statement, yeah, truly makes him the rated R superstar because he was willing to willing to do things that nobody was going to do. And it was funny watching in real time, just like you, and even the announcers, they're just like, Can can he do this? Like, is he because he he goes in, he takes out Kovey, and he just he closes the cage, they lock it, and they're just like there's no there's no precedent. There's no it's just this is what happens. So Edge is in the match.

Right. Uh, I just want to throw out some some things in the match that I liked. At one point, Michael, Michael Cole says, Oh, when they go through when they go through the glass, Michael goes, Oh, geez, that glass is bulletproof. It's like, yeah, man, sell it, sell it, Michael Cole. Um, uh, Rey Mysterio does a hurricane runner from the top of the cage, which was freaking cool. Rey Mysterio shows out in this match. It was good to watch a young Rey Mysterio whip it up again. Uh, I don't know how many surgeries he'd have on his knee at this point.

Uh and yeah, I I had forgotten about Mike Knox, but I do remember they really wanted to set him up as just kind of that that big dude, like, like what a prototype for Braun Strowman before Vince finally found Braun Strowman. Um they started with Snitsky, that's like his and then they moved on to Mike Knox. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Even uh the homie dude who came before Braun Strowman, who who passed away. Luke Harper. Luke Harper, for example, and Eric Rowan, both of them. It was like a tag team that so Vince was like, oh yeah. So, you know. Uh, what else? Uh it's just really good to watch Y2J do anything, man. Uh, he's the one who eliminates Knox. That was great. Uh, the last three were Edge, Ray, and Y2J. And I remember at the time I was like, Man, I really want Y2J to win this because Edge doesn't deserve to win this. He takes out Kofi. He's not, he had his chance, he lost his. And then they let Edge eliminate Cena, which was which was just another thing. When I saw that, I was like, bro, they're gonna let Edge win. I was like, oh no. So I only appreciate this now as a grown man looking back because it, yeah, because I can separate myself from it then. But Billy, let me tell you, I remember in real time just being so upset with Edge because he took out Kovey and he won. He sure did. He had his chance. Did you know? I felt like Dr. Matthews and then he went on the mainland, had their chance, and God chose them for extinction. And because, like, oh, and because yeah, and then Jeff Jeff didn't win. Like, so my night is triple H wins, Jeff Hardy doesn't, so that I'm already mad, and then Trophy gets taken out, and then Edge wins.

I know, which led us to WrestleMania 25, where Jeff Hardy fought his brother Matt, which was a phenomenal match. Uh Triple H fights Randy Orton, which is there's a hell of a lead up to that match.

And that match is really good. It's just it has to follow Taker HBK part one, which is in my opinion, in my humble opinion, I know I'm incredibly biased. I think it's the greatest wrestling match of all time, especially consider the circumstances, the storyline leading into it, the people involved, the setting. I agree. Just it's perfection. I agree.

Uh, so the match between them if if that's not before this, the storyline between Triple H and Orton, between their evolution leading up to like Orton snapping and going kicking, kicking everybody in the McMahon family, systematically breaking down Triple H to the point where Trips has to like show up at his house and Trips has to go back to his cerebral assassin because Trips was trying to ride a kind of an even like you know, not be that dude, and had to stare down the sledgehammer again. Like it should be that main event. It just it just it's before HBK and Taker in Texas.

So it's and then and then Edge went on to defend against John Cena and the Big Show because there was a weird love triangle where Big Show is falling around the Vicky Guerrero and gave him a world title match, and John Cena caught him, and he's like, You got Spain into do. Long story short, that was when Cena had the epic moment of having Big Show and Edge on his back at the same time.

It is the iconic shot. It is, yeah, it's that iconic shot. It's it's that good. Yeah, yeah, freaking great. Yeah, this this here, one probably one of the best WrestleMania's of all time. Like, this was actually really good. Oh except for like Mrs. WrestleMania. Wasn't the Mrs. WrestleMania during that? Yes, yeah, that was the only stain. But other than that, I really like 25. It's time to watch a lot of them. It's that time to get yeah boy, that's it. That's the one. Actually, actually, I'm sorry, it's the second greatest WrestleMania of all time because it would be the first, but I wasn't there.

So uh see, another another fun, ridiculous match was a squash match with JBL and Ray Mysterio where the edge hits were longer than the match, and then JBL quits. Oh, because Ray comes out as Heath Leisure's Joker.

Yeah, yeah, he pops out and he's Heath Leisure's Joker, and it's yeah, and he's a squash master.

I know they're gonna do if they don't, they're leaving money on the table. But I want to see the unmasking of Grande versus Grande. Um, go ahead and show Chad Gable. Uh, even though I would love for El Grande to get a mask, because I'm dying to know if that's Ludwig, because I don't think it is, but right now I don't think it is either. But yeah, but that's that's that's who they've been telling us it is this whole time. I'm just like, I don't know, bruh. I want to see Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre. Jacob Vatu versus Drew. So for as much as it's been like pulling teeth to try, and they've been suffering from injuries and this and that. The card is kind of getting put together. Okay, it's it's not enough for me to spend any kind of money and go out to Vegas and do it. Not that crazy, but there are a couple things that I am looking forward to. Um yeah, it'll be it'll be an okay WrestleMania. Yep.
