Eagles Wing Podcast – Proverbs 9: Choosing Wisdom Over Deception
Hosted by Deuce Brandt
In this episode of the Eagles Wing Podcast, hosted by Deuce Brandt, we explore the powerful teachings found in Proverbs Chapter 9 from the Amplified Bible. This chapter presents a vivid contrast between the invitation of wisdom and the deceptive call of foolishness, showing how the choices we make ultimately shape the direction of our lives.
A central theme in Proverbs 9 is the invitation of wisdom. Wisdom is portrayed as having built her house, established strong foundations, and prepared a feast for those who seek understanding. She calls out to those who may be simple, inexperienced, or searching for direction, inviting them to leave behind foolishness and walk in the path of insight and life. The message is clear: those who are willing to listen, learn, and grow will gain understanding and spiritual maturity.
Another important lesson in this chapter focuses on the difference between those who accept correction and those who reject it. Proverbs teaches that a wise person receives instruction and becomes even wiser, while a scoffer rejects rebuke and responds with hostility. This highlights the importance of humility and teachability, reminding us that true wisdom grows when we are willing to learn and accept guidance.
Proverbs 9 also emphasizes one of the most foundational principles in Scripture: the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Reverence and respect for God are the starting point for true understanding. When we live with an awareness of God’s authority and guidance, our decisions become rooted in truth, discernment, and purpose.
In contrast to wisdom, the chapter also introduces the voice of foolishness. Foolishness is loud, tempting, and deceptive, calling out to those who pass by and promising pleasure and excitement. It appeals to curiosity and the attraction of things that seem forbidden or secret. Yet beneath the surface lies destruction. What appears sweet and appealing at first ultimately leads to spiritual ruin and separation from life-giving truth.
In this episode of the Eagles Wing Podcast, hosted by Deuce Brandt, listeners are reminded that the same pattern described in Proverbs continues today. Many voices in the world attempt to lure people into deception, temptation, or dishonest paths that seem appealing at first. Without wisdom and discernment, it is easy to be led astray.
Proverbs 9 encourages us to pursue wisdom, seek understanding, and remain alert to the voices that influence our choices. By choosing wisdom and walking in reverence toward God, we build a life founded on truth, clarity, and lasting spiritual strength.

Hello and welcome to the Eagle's Wing Podcast. This is your host, Deuce Brandt. Today we are in Proverbs chapter nine of the Amplified Bible. Wisdom has built her house. She has hewn out and set out her seven the perfect number of pillars. She has killed her beast. She has mixed her spiritual wine. She has also set her table. She has set out her maids to cry from the highest places of the town. Whoever is simple, easily led astray and wavering, let him turn in here. As per him who lacks understanding, God's wisdom stays to him, says to him, Come, eat of my bread and drink of the spiritual wine which I have mixed. Leave off simple ones. Forsake the foolish and simple minded and live, and walk in the way of insight and understanding. He who rebukes a scorner heaps upon himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man gets himself gets for himself bruises. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser. Teach a righteous man, one upright and in right standing with God, and he will increase in learning. The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning, the chief and choice part of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding. For by me, wisdom from God, your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you scorn, you alone will bear it and pay the penalty. The foolish woman is noisy, she is simple and open to all forms of evil. She willfully and recklessly knows nothing whatsoever of eternal value. For she sits at the door of her house, or on a seat in the conspicuous place of the town, calling to those who pass by who go uprightly on their way. Whoever is simple, wavering and easily astread, led astray, let him turn in here. And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, Stolen waters, pleasures are sweets, because they are forbidden, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knows not that the shades of the dead are there, spectators, or spectres haunting the scene of the past transgressions, and that her invited guests are already sunk in the depths of Sheal, the lower world, Hades, the place of the dead. So this was a relatively short proverb, but we're seeing a pattern here. And the reality is being led astray from those that wish to entangle and ensnare us, sometimes it's the it's the loose woman, sometimes it's a person. It's it, you know, it's a salesperson or somebody who is trying to sell us something or to get us into some kind of you know deceitful or dishonest thing. And it always sounds incredible. It sounds so good when you're when you're first hearing it. But if you follow down it without wisdom and without understanding, you end up in in hell in shoal. And so it's just something to think about that that this pattern repeats itself multiple times in Proverbs. So with that, that's gonna end today's podcast. This is your host, Deuce Brandt for the Eagles Wing Podcast. I hope you have a great day.
