Good morning.
The Meadville City Council has voted unanimously to rename a downtown roadway in honor of iconic local educator Dr. Armendia Dixon. In a surprise ceremony ahead of her eighty-ninth birthday, city leaders designated a prominent stretch of North Street as "Armendia Way" to honor her sixty years of trailblazing service.
Meanwhile, state corrections officials are launching an investigation after a Meadville man was found dead inside his cell over the weekend. Superintendent M. Hainsworth reports that thirty-six-year-old Joseph Warren was found completely unresponsive at the State Correctional Institution at Laurel Highlands on Saturday morning. Warren was serving a twelve-and-a-half-year sentence following a 2017 guilty plea for child sexual assault charges in Crawford County.
And the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General has launched a formal regulatory review into the pending sale of the Rolling Fields nursing facility in Conneautville. State monitors are stepping in to ensure regional healthcare access remains protected as the facility currently owes the borough nearly one hundred thousand dollars in overdue municipal water bills.
