The Marshall Tucker Band defied genre lines by fusing country, jazz, blues and jam band sensibilities into a distinctive Southern rock sound that continues to influence musicians today. Their formation in Spartanburg, South Carolina and unusual name origin story reveals how a blind piano tuner who never played with the band became their namesake.

• Band named after Marshall Tucker, a blind piano tuner who previously rented their rehearsal space
• Signed with Capricorn Records after being discovered at Grant's Lounge in Macon, Georgia
• Recorded twelve albums between Capricorn and Warner Brothers Records
• Overcame tragedy including Tommy Caldwell's death in a car accident in 1980
