With over two decades of experience in private equity across Greater China and Emerging Markets, Claudius explains how SPACs became a powerful mechanism to help portfolio companies go public and to create thoughtful exit strategies for fund managers. From deal size variations to the role of Asian sponsors in the global SPAC ecosystem, this conversation sheds light on the evolving intersection of private and public markets.

Michael: Mike Blankenship here with The SPAC Podcast. Today I’m joined by Claudius Tsang. Claudius, nice to see you. Do you want to give a couple minutes about your background?

Claudis Tsang: Sure. I started my SPAC journey in late 2020, officially launching in 2021. Before that, I worked in the private equity industry for 20 years. The reason I wanted to work in the SPAC space was to help my portfolio companies go public — and to help private equity firms exit those investments.

From 2021 to now, we’ve sponsored seven SPACs under my company, A SPAC Holdings Group Corp. These SPACs range in size from $60 million to $200 million. We believe we’re one of the few Asian sponsors that has successfully sponsored such a wide range of SPACs in a short period of time.
