Don't Quit in the Quiet: Finding Strength in Stillness
Have you ever shared something deeply meaningful only to hear crickets in response? That deafening silence can make quitting feel like the only logical option.
This episode explores the profound purpose behind those quiet seasons that make us question our path. Drawing from the biblical story of Elijah—depressed and hiding in a cave after witnessing miracles—we uncover how God often speaks not through dramatic displays but through a still, small voice that requires our stillness to hear.
The quiet isn't punishment or irrelevance; it's a sacred classroom. When nothing seems to be happening externally, something powerful is developing beneath the surface. Just as a tree's most significant growth happens underground before blossoming, our seasons of apparent silence are often where our deepest formation occurs.
We examine Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God," uncovering how this ancient wisdom contradicts our culture's obsession with productivity, visibility, and constant validation. The stillness we resist might be exactly what we need to receive clear direction and renewed purpose.
If you're feeling unheard, overlooked, or wondering if your work matters, this episode offers a perspective shift that will help you stay rooted when quitting seems easier. Remember: you haven't been forgotten, you aren't failing, and your calling hasn't been cancelled. You're simply being refined in the quiet for what comes next.

Episode 2
Don't Quit in the Quiet. There's a certain kind of silence that can make your heart ache, especially when you're pouring out from a deep place. You post something meaningful and nothing. You launch something from your soul and crickets. You share your truth and it feels like no one is listening. It's in those moments when the silence is louder than applause that quitting can feel like the only sane option. But I want you to hear me clearly today the quiet is not your enemy, it's your teacher. If you pause for a minute in the quiet and just listen, you might learn something. There is a sacred stillness that God often uses to refine, to anchor and to reset us, his children. In fact, silence is one of his favourite tools.
Let's go back to Psalm 46, 10. Be still and know that I am God. It doesn't say be productive. It doesn't say go viral. It doesn't say be seen. It says be still and know. Know what you might ask. Know that God is still present. Know that your calling hasn't been cancelled. Know that He is working, even when it feels like nothing is moving. Some of the greatest growth happens on the ground, in the dark, in the unseen, just like roots deepening before a tree ever blossoms.
So if you're in your silent season now, maybe God isn't punishing you, maybe He's protecting you, maybe he's preparing something in you that applause would only distract you from. So let me remind you of Elijah in 1st Kings 19. Elijah was desperate, depressed, hiding in a cave. He had seen a miracle, or he had seen miracles, yes, but in that moment he just wanted to disappear. And when God showed up, He wasn't in the wind, He wasn't in the earthquake, He wasn't in the fire, He was in a still small voice.
So don't despise the quiet, don't mislabel it as punishment or irrelevance. You are still very relevant. The quiet might just be the clearest space for God to whisper direction. The quiet might just be the clearest space for you to figure out the way to go. So today, I encourage you don't quit in the quiet, stay faithful, stay present, stay rooted and listen, because sometimes heaven is the loudest when the earth goes still. You are not forgotten, you are not failing. You are simply being refined. Thanks so much for listening to this episode of Still Standing with Tele.
