Join host Cassandra as she dives deep with the incredible Mermandy (Maddie Walker), a single mom of four who transformed her life from competitive roller derby athlete to professional mermaid instructor and marine biology conservation student!
After a skating injury led her to hang up her derby skates for scuba gear, Mermandy discovered her calling in the underwater world, becoming certified through multiple diving organizations and specializing in mermaid safety instruction.
Currently pursuing her master's degree in marine biology conservation with a focus on sea turtle rescue, she's also training as a tank diver at the Florida Aquarium while competing on Team USA for the Mermaid Olympics in Germany. Mermandy shares her inspiring journey of authenticity, from leaving unethical corporate jobs to following her childhood dream of marine biology, plus her passion for ocean conservation through debris dives with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful.
This episode is packed with wisdom about water safety, living authentically, and how one person can make a difference in ocean conservation - all while maintaining a healthy lifestyle that includes drinking a gallon of water daily and living chemical-free!
