Greetings from the great state of South Carolina. This is Brother Isaac Cowan. May God bless you as you listen to God's Holy Word. Thank you for tuning in to Holiness Preaching Online Hallelujah, judges, chapter 7. Praise the Lord. If I get too long-winded, somebody just take your God-given authority and sit me down. But of course I'm already sitting down, so you can't really do that. So, praise the Lord. Judges, chapter 7. No, but seriously, if I get too long, you tell me. Judges, chapter 7 and verse number 8.
Speaker 2:So the people took victuals in their hand and their trumpets and they sent all the rest of Israel, every man, unto his tent and retained those 300 men. And the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley. And it came to pass the same night that the Lord said unto him Notice that phrase. The children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude, and their camels were without number as the sand by the seaside for multitude. And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow and said behold, I dreamed a dream and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian and and came into a tent and smote it that it fell and overturned it, that the tent lay along, and his fellow answered and said this is nothing else save the sword of Gideon, the son of Joash, the man of Israel, for into his hand hath God delivered Midian and all the host.
Speaker 2:Amen, lord, in the name of Jesus. I pray, lord, that you would anoint your word. Thank you, lord, that your word is anointed. I pray, lord, that you would anoint me to speak a word from you. Lord, I pray, anoint this congregation to hear Lord, encourage a heart, uplift a saint. Bless Lord your people tonight, lord Minister, to this church, in Jesus' name, and I give you glory in Jesus' name. And everybody said Amen and Amen. Praise the Lord, and look again at verse 11. Thou shalt hear what they say, what they say For a few minutes tonight. I won't promise just three minutes, but I'm going to preach tonight on what the enemy's camp really knows, what the enemy's camp really knows.
Speaker 2:So first let me give just a little bit of background leading up to our text. There's a constant repeating cycle of this book. We find the children of Israel deserting God and serving other false gods and idols, and they did evil and great wickedness in the sight of the Lord, and God delivered them into the hand of the enemy. And then we know that God would raise up a judge, them into the hand of the enemy. And then we know that God would raise up a judge and he would be greatly used by the Lord to deliver Israel from the hand of the enemy. We find in chapter six that they did evil in the sight of the Lord and he delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven long years and they forced the Israelites into dens in the mountains and caves and strongholds. And we read that the Israelites finally cried out unto the Lord because of the Midianites.
Speaker 2:And then a few verses later we see there's a man by the name of Gideon and it's threshing wheat and the Lord commissions Gideon to deliver the Israelites. And we see the first thing Gideon did was to go by night and cast down the altar of the false god and cut down the grove that was beside it. And then the next day we find that the people so angry and they're wanting to kill whoever did this. And so we read later in chapter six that Gideon, he sets out the fleece of wool and asking God hey, are you really going to deliver us? And so he puts out a fleece before the Lord, and then we find God revealing truth to him. Hey, I'm really with you, I'm going to fight your battles, I'm going to give you the victory. And you know, after God proves him in one test, gideon wants to do another test, and so he sets out the fleece again.
Speaker 2:But then chapter 7 tells us the familiar story. God tells Gideon that the men that he has, the Lord is too many. The men that he has are too many. The Lord didn't want them to think that they won the victory through their own power and their own ability and strength. The Lord commanded Gideon to send all the fearful back home, and there were still 10,000 left after that. And God says that's still too many. So God brings them down to the water, and you read that everyone that lapped like a dog and then drinking the water. And then God used 300 men to fight the Midianites.
Speaker 2:So we read in our text that God told Gideon to get down to the host, for he had delivered it into their hand. So notice verse 11 again. Thou shalt hear what they say and afterward thine hands shall be strengthened to go unto the host. And we know really that what the enemy was talking about was really a prophetic dream of the enemy's defeat, hallelujah. Can I say that the theme of the devil's dream is his defeat. The theme of the devil's dream is his defeat. May I say that the devil understands his ultimate destruction and defeat. He is fully aware of what awaits him when this thing is all over with.
Speaker 2:If we could hear the enemy speaking tonight, brother Sargent, I wonder what exactly they would be saying. Maybe they would say hey, we need to hurry up and work fast, because we know that our time is running short. Our destruction is rapidly approaching. Sometimes it's just good to remind the devil of his destruction and his final amen, his final doom in a place called hell. Hallelujah, his final destruction, amen. Even now, in this life, before Jesus comes back, there are things that the devil doesn't want us to know. The enemy won't tell us what they're really thinking and what they're really discussing. I can just hear a bunch of demons coming up to the devil and saying oh, mr Devil, we've got a problem here. Amen, we really have a problem.
Speaker 2:There's some saints of God that's been fasting and praying and it just feels like revival is about to break out at their church. Some demon begins to tell the devil man. I thought we had their loved ones held captive, good enough, but that grandmother, that grandfather, has been praying so hard for them and we seem to be losing our grip and our hold in their lives. I thought that we had them for sure because of the addictions amen, that was in their lives. I thought that we had them for sure because of the addictions A man that was in their lives. I thought we had them bound up, good enough. I thought them chains were unbreakable. I thought that nothing could turn back the deception that was in their mind and that nothing could penetrate the darkness that was in their heart and in their life. And then they say, devil, what are we going to do? We're losing a hold of their soul. Can I encourage some saint of God tonight that there is conversation going on in the enemy's camp tonight and they don't want you to know what they're really talking about and what they're really discussing.
Speaker 2:Have you ever been around someone that was telling you about a situation and something just didn't seem right? Maybe they were known as somebody that didn't tell the truth all the time, or maybe they kind of exaggerated. Maybe they exaggerated the truth and when you left them. You were saying I wonder what they really know. I wonder what they really know. James 2 and 19 says thou believest that there is one God. Thou doest well, the devils also believe and tremble. Amen.
Speaker 2:The devil is not an honest person. John 8 44 says he was a murderer from the beginning and a boat not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it, satan, was a liar and deceiver all the way back in Adam and Eve's day when he told Eve that she wouldn't die if she ate the forbidden fruit. Can I tell you, friend, the devil will add to the truth. He will take away from the truth and he will water to the truth. He will take away from the truth and he will water down the truth, but he will never tell the whole truth. Nothing but the truth. He will never tell all the truth. He'll never tell you what he really knows.
Speaker 2:Tonight, and I pray that the Holy Ghost will pull back some lies and pull back some deception that the enemy has been telling some saints of God in this church house tonight and give you encouragement that there is hope for you, there is victory for you, there is an answer for your problem. There is a solution for your dilemma. There is a way out tonight. The devil is a liar. Don't listen to his lies. Tonight we can see all through the Bible where he's told lies or he used somebody to tell a lie.
Speaker 2:If the devil cannot get you to fall directly from his temptation, then another tactic that he will use is a lie of deception in hopes that you will give up. See my dad he's a very wise man, he says. I've heard him say on multiple occasions if the devil can't push you one way, he'll push you another way. Way he may not be able to get you hooked on drugs and get you hooked on alcohol. That may not even be a temptation to most of you but he may try to sow a seed of doubt in your heart. Did God say Hath? God said oh, I know that God said that he would bring you out, but look how big this mountain is. Look how lost your children are. Look how big this financial need is. Look how big this mountain is and how large this valley is you're walking through. You'll never get through it and he'll try to get you to doubt God's word and give up on God altogether. Amen.
Speaker 2:But the first there's three lies that the devil tells us that I want to talk about real quickly and I need to hurry Amen. There's three lies that the devil tells us and I want you to know that this is what the enemy's camp really knows. There's some things that the enemy's camp really knows, but there's three lies. Let me let me be clear on that. As a preacher, I got to be clear, clear, amen. There's three lies that the devil tells us. Number one the first lie is you're not a christian. You're not a christian. You know, brother, brother, young, correct? Okay, I thought so.
Speaker 2:Uh, you know when, when we was lost out in sin, did the devil ever tell you that God couldn't save you? Did the devil ever tell anybody that he tells a lot of people that you can't get saved when you're out in sin and you can't come to the Father's home, you can't get back in church, he'll never forgive you. And then, when you get saved and you pray and ask the Lord to forgive you. He'll tell you oh, you didn't really get it, you didn't really get saved, you didn't really get through. God didn't save you, he didn't forgive you. Look at all the sins of your past and He'll name look at that time you lied. Look at that time you cheated. Look at that time you stole. Look at that time you cheated. Look at that time you stole. Look at this time that you did this and you did that. He'll put your list of sins in your face and put shame in your face and say, oh, you didn't get saved. The blood of Jesus didn't cleanse you. Oh, it was just nothing, you didn't really get nothing.
Speaker 2:There's some individuals that can't tell you the date that they were born again. They can't tell you the time of day, or even the year, maybe. But they can tell you about the experience. When the devil comes around telling you, brother, that you're not saved, just remind him of the experience that you had when the blood of Jesus, god's Son, washed away all your sins. Tell him what it felt like to have your burden of sin rolled away. Remind the devil of the joy that you felt when the presence of God flooded your soul, joy that you felt when the presence of God flooded your soul, declaring to him that you know that. You know that. You know that you're a child of the king. I'm telling you, the devil is a liar, and that is one thing that the enemy's camp really knows. You're saved, you're a blood-bought, born again, child of the king.
Speaker 2:Tonight, 1 Corinthians 6 and 9 says Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Be not deceived neither fornicators nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves nor covetousness, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God. That's a long list. That's a long list and there's a lot. You know we live in a world full of those sins. You know it's everywhere you look at. There's those sins in our world today.
Speaker 2:But I'm glad we can stand up and say there's hope in a dark world of sin. There's hope because it doesn't leave you with that. It says in such were some of you, but ye are washed, but you are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the lord jesus and by the Spirit of our God. Thank God, we're not what we used to be. The things that we used to do are in our past and God's given us a brand new future. Praise God when the devil reminds you of your past, of your past. Remind Him of His future. Some of you need to stop. Some of you need to get off of the defensive and get on the offensive. Some of you are allowing the devil to get you, so bound down, amen. But we need to attack the devil and not just be on the defensive mode but on the offensive. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, amen.
Speaker 2:So the devil tells us first lie, we're not saved, you're not a Christian. But what does the enemy's camp really know? It knows the truth of God's Word, that we are a child of God because we ask Jesus to come into our lives. Hallelujah, hallelujah. I need to hurry quickly. Secondly, not only the second lie, not only are you not a Christian, he'll tell you you're not a Christian, but secondly, he'll tell you you can't conquer or you can't overcome. Sometimes it seems like a losing battle when the devil sends one attack after another. But, brother Young, the truth is we're not defeated if we're letting the Lord lead our life.
Speaker 2:Satan's temptations can be resisted by staying alert, being sober and ready for his attacks. They can be conquered through prayer and relying on God's faithfulness 2 Thessalonians 3 and 3,. But the Lord is faithful. Who shall establish you and keep you from evil? I'm glad that God can save us and keep us.
Speaker 2:We need to remember that we have a high priest in Jesus Christ Hebrews 4 and 14,. Seeing, then, that we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession, for we have not a high priest that has passed into the heavens, jesus the Son of God. Let us hold fast our profession, for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmity but was in all points tempted, like as we are, yet without sin, for in that he himself has suffered, being tempted, he is able to secure them that are tempted. Can I tell you that Jesus has felt what we feel. He understands our temptations and the things that we battle, the things that we deal with, and he's more than able to help us to conquer. I'm thankful Jesus Christ, who has been victorious over temptation. He's been victorious, therefore, we can triumph over every temptation, every battle of the devil. Praise God. These verses tell us that Jesus knows what we're facing, he knows how we feel, and he knows how to help us win the fight.
Speaker 2:Hallelujah If you've messed up. If you've fallen the fight. Hallelujah If you've messed up, if you've fallen. I want to encourage you, friend, get back up. Get back up. The devil would love for you to stay on the ground. But Micah 7 and 8 says Rejoice, not against me, o mine enemy. When I fall, I shall arise, hallelujah. The good news is you can get back up again. You're not without hope. We serve a merciful god who specializes in second chances. You can get up and become a conqueror through jesus christ. Hallelujah, hallelujah.
Speaker 2:The lord helped many individuals in the Bible to defeat their physical enemy. David conquered Goliath. Shammah defended his bean patch. The devil wants to come in and steal our spiritual bean patch. He wants to take what God has given to us, even what we receive in this service tonight. But let me tell you, brother, that victory is guaranteed for the Christian who is faithful to fight the good fight of faith. Don't listen to the enemy's lies. There are some things that the enemy's camp really knows. You can become a conqueror through Jesus Christ, hallelujah, oh. God has given us weapons that are not carnal but are mighty. Through God, to the pulling down of strongholds. If we put on the whole armor of God, then we will be able to withstand the wiles, or, in other words, the tricks of the devil. Amen.
Speaker 2:You might say tonight that you feel the enemy is too great and too mighty. You feel like you're surrounded and you don't see a way of escape. But can I tell you that Gideon had only 300 men and the Lord defeated the enemy for them. And these 300 men were up against a great multitude, but the enemy was like grasshoppers because of number. Amen, there were so many. But when it seems like the odds are stacked against us, we must remember that greater is he that is in us than he that is in this world. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
Speaker 2:I heard a preacher talking about one of David's mighty men, benaiah, who went down into the pit and slew a lion. Pray for my voice. I'm losing it tonight. Amen, down into a pit and slew a lion. He said that there was. This preacher said that there was only one of them that was coming out alive. Can I tell you, brother and sister, we're in a battle with the devil and there's only one of us that's coming out alive. But I'm glad to know tonight that we don't have to die, but we can live and make it all the way to glory one of these days. I mean, god is still on our side. He's never lost a battle and I know he will get us out of this alive, but the key is to rely on Him.
Speaker 2:Ronald Reagan said we are never defeated unless we give up on God. We are never defeated unless we give up on God. Romans 8, 37, they and all these things, we are more than conquerors. Through him that loved us, I want to encourage you tonight. You are more than a conqueror and that's something that the enemy's camp really, really knows. Hallelujah, amen.
Speaker 2:I'm coming to my last point, the third point. Tonight, the devil lies to us. He tells us well, you're not saved, you're not a Christian. Then He'll tell us you can't conquer, you can't overcome, you can't be a victorious Christian. But then, thirdly, he'll tell us you can't fulfill your calling. You can't fulfill your calling.
Speaker 2:We're in a time where God is calling many, many individuals for His service and to labor in the harvest field. And may I say that you may not ever have a platform ministry, but there is a ministry with your name on it. There is something for you to do. Oh, but I'm not up there preaching, so therefore I can't do anything for the Lord. That's what a lot of people say oh, I'm not the Sunday school teacher. Oh, I'm not the song leader, I'm not up there playing the bass. I'm not playing the drums. I'm not in the spotlight, so I can't do anything for the bass. I'm not playing the drums, I'm not in the spotlight, so I can't do anything for the Lord. But there is a call for each and every one of us to do a work in God's harvest field Amen.
Speaker 2:God is raising up an army of soldiers and workers that will be faithful in working for him. There's a group that he's raising up that will see revival in these last days. They will see great and mighty things happen by the power of god, and the devil will tell you that God can never use you. He'll start pointing out reasons, amen, why the Lord couldn't use you. Amen. Yes, there's things in our life that God has to work on us, but who doesn't need the Lord to work on them? Amen, amen. God has to work on us and make us what we need to be, and maybe he needs to work on us a little bit before we're able to do the specific calling that he's placed on our lives, but I'm glad that God can work on us and get us to that place that we can be a vessel under honor. God had some work to do on Moses, but he was eventually able to use him as an instrument to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt's bondage. Amen.
Speaker 2:When God, who is the potter, begins to work on the clay which is us, he begins to knock off the rough edges and mold us more into His image. When we allow Him to work on us, we will become someone that God can use for His kingdom. 2 Timothy 2 and 21,. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified in meat for the master's use and prepared unto every good work. God has to prepare us sometimes, sometimes we, sometimes we just want to jump into something. God says hey, hey son, hey daughter, I need, I need to work on some things, amen. But if we'll allow God to work on us, oh, the work that we can do for the Lord in our lives. Hallelujah, amen.
Speaker 2:And I know there's some young people here tonight. I want to encourage you, young people. Sometimes you feel like, well, my age, I'm too young to work for the Lord. But listen, friend, your age has nothing to do with it. Your age has nothing to do with working for God. There may be certain things that we can't obviously do until we get a little bit older, but there are many, many areas in which you can serve God and you can work for the Lord, amen.
Speaker 2:Gideon was a young man when God commissioned him to deliver Israel. David was a young person when God started to work through him. Samuel was a young person when God started to work through him. Samuel was a young person when God began to speak to him. God can use even young people to do a work for God, and that's what the enemy's camp really, really knows. Amen. I'm getting ready to close if somebody wants to get us a song Amen.
Speaker 2:Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 4 and 12, let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believer, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Oh, we desperately need young people, amen, who will be a godly example of what a Christian should be like. The world is watching you and they need to see somebody that is dedicated, that is living how God intends you to live. Let the light of the glorious gospel shine out in a dark world where they can see Jesus in you, amen. I want to close with this.
Speaker 2:I read something several years ago. It said the will of God will not take you where the grace of God cannot keep you, where the arms of God cannot support you, where the riches of God cannot support you, where the riches of God cannot supply your needs, where the power of God cannot endow you. The will of God will not take you where the Spirit of God cannot work through you, where the wisdom of God cannot teach you, where the armies of God cannot protect you and where the hands of God cannot mold you. The will of God will not take you where the love of God cannot mold you. The will of God will not take you when the love of God cannot enfold and embrace you, where the mercies of God cannot sustain you, where the peace of God cannot calm your fears and where the authority of God cannot overrule for you. The will of God will never take you when the comfort of God cannot dry your tears, where the word of God cannot feed you. The will of God will never take you, where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears, where the word of God cannot feed you and where the miracles of God cannot be done for you and where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.
Speaker 2:May I encourage some saint of God today that the Lord will be everything that you need Him to be. Just step out in faith and do what he has called and commissioned for you to do. Don't listen to the lies of the enemy, because the enemy's camp really knows that you're a child of the King, that you're a conquering child of the King and that God has a special calling on your life. Hallelujah, praise God. Oh, can we raise our hands and worship God tonight? Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah. Let's just honor the Lord tonight. Let's just honor the Lord tonight. Hallelujah, hallelujah. Lord, thank you for your goodness to us. Thank you, lord, for your presence. Lord, thank you for your spirit.
Speaker 2:God, I pray for some saint of God that the enemy has been lying to. Lord, I rebuke every lie of the enemy. I rebuke every deceiving thought that he has placed in their mind. I pray, lord, that the truth of your word will penetrate their heart and mind tonight and that they will stand on your word. Lord, that they are a Christian, that your blood has forgiven them. Lord, you said in your word that we must stand on your promises and believe your truth. Help us to believe your word tonight, lord.
Speaker 2:God, I pray, meet us around this altar. Lord, meet us around this altar, lord, god, encourage us, lord, help us to realize that the devil is a liar and the father of all lies, and what he's been telling somebody is nothing but a lie. Help us, lord, to stand on your word. Help us to rebuke the enemy, to submit ourselves to God. Oh God, help us, lord, to stand on your truth. God, I pray, do what only you can do for us and for this church. Tonight, lord, help us to believe you, to trust you, lord, that your word is true, that the enemy is a liar and there are some things that the enemy's camp really knows. Oh, they've been tormenting us, they've been depressing us, they've been discouraging us, they've been bombarding us. But, lord, tonight, help us, lord, to stand on your word In Jesus' name. Oh, can we find us a place to pray? Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah. Oh, and the truth is, you won't be denied. Oh, the facts may be stacked up against you right now, but the truth is God's on your side. Oh, and the truth is, you're not forsaken. Oh, and the truth is, you won't be denied. Oh, the facts may be stacked up against you right now, but the truth is God's on your side. You're caught in a battle. You're losing. You're losing. Is this rage on for so long that your steps have gone weary and cold? The end of the story, for the truth has not left you.
