Rev. Stacy Holden- “If hell could preach”
Text us here! (Leave us your number if you want a response from us!)
Time is running out and we need to ensure our hearts are right with God before it's too late. This sermon examines what messages would come from hell if those suffering there could preach to us.
• Just because you go to church doesn't mean you're right with God
• You must have a genuine born-again experience to be saved
• The story of the Rich Man and Lazarus reveals hell as a real place of torment
• If people in hell could preach, they would urgently warn us to repent now
• Everyone in hell would beg us not to make their same mistakes
• The Word of God provides sufficient warning about eternal consequences
• Don't delay salvation – tomorrow is not promised
• Making your heart right with God matters more than what others think
Let's all pray and seek God while we have the opportunity. If you've never been born again, ask the Lord to save you right now.

wwwholybunchcom preaching online. We want to present to you today a great sermon from another great preacher.
Speaker 2:What's happening there? What's that man that's preaching? And the Lord dealt with me to get up on a Sunday morning and I preached the very exact same scripture that that brother had preached. And I'm telling you, when I did, they all dropped their jaws. It was like wow. And Brother Kelsey said I did not tell him anything. I didn't tell him anything and it was just a confirmation of how God was trying to speak to those people and I appreciate what God has done and what God is doing.
Speaker 2:The last night of revival we had a pool for souls to come in. There was two people that came to the altar to get saved and I want to thank the Lord for that and it was a young boy whose dad was backslid. His uncle is Ben Horton. Some of you probably know him. And then the other man was just a man in the church that had never really made a public confession of faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior, brother Ronald. He was just. He was one of the best guys in the church. Seem like they just sit on the pew, like everybody else. Sit on the pew, come to church. He married the pastor's granddaughter. They just.
Speaker 2:But I'm telling you just because you go to church doesn't mean that you're right with God. You have to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior. You have to believe on His name. You have to call upon Him. You have to repent of all of your sins. You have to turn away from all of your sins and turn to the Lord with all of your heart. Amen, amen. That's part of repentance. The other part of repentance, the other part of repentance, is after that. You've turned away and repented of your sin. You've got to follow the Lord with all your heart and believe on His name. Amen.
Speaker 1:And you know the devil will try to make it harder to get saved than what it really is.
Speaker 2:That man was probably 35 or 40 years old, probably Raised in church his whole life. Brother Lee Strickler was his pastor, raised in church his whole life, and the man had never really just committed over to the Lord. I tell you, we need to commit ourselves to the Lord. Time is running out, we don't have much time to play around. You say, well, I'm not playing around If you haven't committed everything to God. Time to play around. You say, well, I'm not playing around. If you haven't committed everything to God, you're playing around. There's no other way to say it. Time is running out, amen, amen.
Speaker 2:The Bible said in the last days before the coming of the Lord, you shall hear wars and rumors of wars. Are we hearing that? Is that not what's going on in this world? That's exactly what's going on in this world. We're on the brink of the coming of the Lord. We need to make sure that everything in our hearts is right with God, amen.
Speaker 2:I want to say I'm glad to be home. Praise God. I hope that absence made the heart grow fonder. I hope that you love me more than you used to, and I know you love me, I know you do. We had a little change of plans. I was supposed to be gone next Sunday but I'm going to come back from PFYC and we're going to be here for Sunday morning and then we're going to leave after Sunday morning service and head to Kentucky to preach a revival there. So we will be here at least for Sunday morning and of course we'll be here this Tuesday night as well.
Speaker 2:Turn with me to the book of St Luke's Gospel, chapter number 16. Team and I appreciate the men of the church just stepping in, stepping in and just stepping up to the plate here and taking care of things in my absence, and I want to say I appreciate them. We're so glad to have everybody here this morning. We're so glad to have Ms Hope here with us. She're so glad to have Ms Hope here with us. She is my mom's neighbor that lives right above her and we're so glad to have her here with us and we're glad to have everyone else as well. Turn with me to the book of St Luke's Gospel, chapter number 16. I want to read, starting with verse number 19, if the Lord would help me. Luke, chapter 16, verse number 19. If you found it, say amen, amen.
Speaker 2:The Bible said there was a certain rich man. If you found it, say amen. The bible said there was a certain rich man which was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. There was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores and it came to pass that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried, and in hell he lived up, his eyes being in torments and see if Abraham were far off and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus. Listen to this right here. That man that went to hell, that rich man that went to hell verse 24, cried and said Father Abraham, have mercy on me.
Speaker 2:And said Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame. And Abraham said Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivest thy good things, likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he's comforted and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you, there's a great goal fixed, so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot, neither can they pass to us that would come from this.
Speaker 2:And he said I pray thee, therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house, for I have five brethren that he may testify unto them, lest they also come to this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him they have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them. He said nay, I want you to notice this right here. He said Nay, I want you to notice this right here. Notice what the rich man is saying in hell, in his desperation in hell. Notice what the rich man is saying to Abraham. He said Nay, father Abraham, but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto them If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded. Though, one rose from the dead, and if the Lord would help me today, I'd like to preach on this thought. If hell could preach, oh, what would they say If hell could preach? What kind of a message if somebody that's in hell, if they could preach, what kind of a message would they preach? Amen, would you lift your hands right here this morning and ask God to help us? Father, in the name of the Lord, god, I pray right now that you'd help me to preach. Lord, let the Holy Ghost come upon me. I pray that you would put your words in my mouth, lord. God, I pray for the anointing God. Help me, lord. I don't want to say anything you don't want me to say, but help me to say everything. Lord, I don't want to say anything you don't want me to say, but help me to say everything, lord, that you want me to say this morning. I pray that your divine will would be done and accomplished. I pray that you bless in these altars. I pray that you would stir the church, stir us right here in this house of God, stir this congregation. Help this house of God, stir this congregation. Help us to realize, god, that without a vision, there's people that are going to go to hell. There's people that are going to go to hell if we don't reach out after them. But, lord, help me with my thought this morning on what would happen if somebody from hell could preach God. Would you bless these altars and we give you praise in the name of Jesus and the church said amen, amen.
Speaker 2:Here we find in Luke's gospel the story here about a rich man and the story about a beggar named Lazarus, and we know that this is a true story. This is the Bible. This is not a fairy tale. Walt Disney did not write this. The Lord wrote this. This is literal. This is real, amen, amen.
Speaker 2:And the devil would like to tell people. This is not a true story. The devil doesn't even want you to think about hell. Really, he wants you to go there. If you thought about it, you wouldn't want to go there. Amen, amen, want to go there, amen.
Speaker 2:There's only two places that people are going to go when this life is over it's heaven or hell. There's no in between place. There's no such thing as purgatory. Purgatory is a lie of the devil. There's no such thing as purgatory. It's either heaven or hell, amen. I want to preach to you the burden of my heart to warn you not to go to this place called hell. I want to preach to you and tell you that every time a person dies, not every one of them goes to heaven. It's amazing to me how that you can go to a funeral. And the guy was a liar. He cussed every breath he took, almost he cheated on his wife. It wasn't fair, but the preacher preached him on into heaven. It's amazing to me how the preachers can get behind a pulpit and preach somebody into heaven that was a wicked sinner in this world amen.
Speaker 2:I want to tell you Everybody that dies Doesn't go to heaven, amen. I tell you, some of them go to hell, amen, you know.
Speaker 2:But you say Brother Stacy, if somebody preached a sinner into hell, or somebody preached somebody into hell At a funeral, it wouldn't be very pleasant For the family members. Hell at a funeral, it wouldn't be very pleasant for the family members, would it? No, it wouldn't. And I know we got to use wisdom as ministers of the gospel, but I just want to tell you not everybody that dies goes to heaven amen. You got to be born again in order to go to heaven. Amen.
Speaker 2:Just because you say you're a Christian doesn't mean you're a Christian. You've got to have the actual experience of being born again, amen, amen. I could call myself the governor of the state of Louisiana, but that would not make me the governor of the state of Louisiana Just because I said I am the governor, amen. There is a process that has to take place, amen. I'd have to be voted into office. But I have never be voted into office. But I have never been voted into office.
Speaker 2:But just because I say that I'm the governor of the state of Louisiana doesn't make me the governor of the state of Louisiana. You know, we have people who say, oh, I'm a Christian. Just because you say you're a Christian doesn't mean you're a Christian. You have to have the experience. You have to pray and accept the Lord as your Savior. You've got to accept Jesus in your heart. You've got to be born again. The Bible said in Ephesians, chapter 2, for by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. We're saved by grace. The Bible says so.
Speaker 2:I just want to tell us right here, amen. I know we say we live in a Christian nation and I believe it is. I believe our forefathers were Christian men Not all of them, but a lot of them were and they founded this country upon the Christian faith. But just because you live in America doesn't mean that you're a Christian, just because you live in America doesn't mean you're an infidel.
Speaker 2:You choose, you choose. We're free moral agents. We choose Because your mom and daddy was a Christian doesn't mean you're a Christian. Just because your mom and daddy were bad, wicked sinners doesn't mean you have to be that way. Amen. Everybody has a will. The Lord has given man and woman, boy and girl, the ability to be their own free moral agent, which is our destiny. Amen. I want to preach to us today the thought that has come to me upon this rich man that is in hell Amen. We find that I want to say just because his riches was not the reason he went to hell, and just because Lazarus was poor, that's not the reason he went to hell. And just because Lazarus was poor, that's not the reason he went to heaven. Amen. That doesn't mean anything to the Lord. Whether you're rich or you're poor, that doesn't mean anything to God. Amen.
Speaker 2:It is a personal experience that makes you qualify for heaven or hell. You're really going to have to do anything to go to hell. Everybody, when they're born, is on their way to hell.
Speaker 2:You don't have to do anything you say preacher what do I have to do to go to hell? Nothing really. You really don't have to do anything to go to hell. What do I have to do to go to heaven? You have to be born again, amen. What do I have to do to go to heaven? You have to be born again, amen. I want to dive down here into hell, if we can, a little bit. We believe that hell is in the center of the earth. I believe the Bible is plain in that, teaching Hell from beneath. I believe that that is plain. The Bible is plain in its teaching that hell is in the center of the earth.
Speaker 2:For right now anyway, we find that this man went to hell and there was a time when paradise also was in the heart of the earth, and it is not anymore, but during this time it was uh the reason it's not anymore, paradise is not in the heart of the earth anymore is because when jesus christ was crucified on the cross of calvary and he became the Lamb of God that took away the sin of the world Amen. When His physical human body laid in the grave, the Lord Jesus was busy for those three days. He actually went down into hell and the Bible said he preached to the spirits which were in captivity and the Bible said he led captivity captive and he gave gifts to men and he emptied out paradise and he took all those that was in paradise up to heaven.
Speaker 2:Amen. So now, the saints of God of days gone by and the saints of God that even died yesterday in this world are in heaven to be with the Lord right now. But during this time, right here, amen. The saints of God that had died were in the heart of the earth, in a place called paradise. The Bible gives the story of two men. The Bible gives the story of a poor man whose name was Lazarus and the Bible gives the story about a rich man, and the Bible said both of these men died. Lazarus went to be in Abraham's bosom and the rich man, the Bible said, went to hell and he lifted up his eyes. The Bible said being to hell and he lifted up his eyes. The Bible said being in torments. Now I want to tell you there's torments in hell.
Speaker 2:Somebody may say preacher, hell's not going to be that bad I want to tell you. The Bible said there's torments in hell. The Bible said the rich man looked up. There was a great divide there. There was a place he said Father Abraham said you can't cross over to where we are and there's a great goldfish to where we can't cross over to where you are.
Speaker 2:But he could look up and he could see across that gulf. And the rich man looked up and said Father Abraham, would you send Lazarus to me that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and place it on my tongue? He said, for I have tormented him, this flame. I want to tell you hell's a real place. Brother and sister People say we're going to go to hell and we're going to have a party there. There's not going to be any parties in hell. I want to tell you there's going to be real suffering and real torment in hell. Amen.
Speaker 2:The rich man said I am tormented in this flame and I believe that this rich man was a miserable, wretched soul. He was tormented in the flame. Tormented in the flame, amen. I remember when I was a boy I was playing out with my Tonka truck over at my Aunt Estelle's and Uncle Charlie's house that was my mom's sister and they had burn barrels that they burned the trash in and they were burning trash in their burn barrel but they had a sand, a little sandbox area right there in front of that burn barrel. I had my Tonka truck and I wasn't paying no attention. I was just a little boy and I scooted up and I scooted back to where my back touched that burn barrel and I began to scream and I ran. Do you remember, mom? I ran to the house there for them to take care of me and it hurt so bad. I can still remember screaming because it hurt so bad.
Speaker 2:Amen, god in His mercy, help me. I don't have any scars over that, but that was a terrible ordeal, terrible experience. You can't tell me that hell's not real. The Bible tells us that hell's a real, literal, burning scorching place. Amen. I don't have time to preach all about hell, but the Bible said what if God, willing to show His wrath endured with much longsuffering, the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction. You know, just like we're going to have a glorified body, that we go to heaven and we'll be able to stand in the presence of God forever and live forever in heaven, the other side of that coin Is we're going to have a body fitted To destruction.
Speaker 3:That means we're going to be able to.
Speaker 2:That means whoever goes to hell After this life is over Is going to have a body fitted to destruction. That means you're going to be in the fire and never burn up. Amen. I can't imagine what that would be like. Let me preach right here this morning. After that rich man looked over and said Would you send Lazarus to me? Let him get just a little bit of water and cool my tongue if I'm tormented in this flame? Father Abraham said there's a great goal fixed. We cannot pass to you, you cannot pass over to us. And then that rich man, while he was in hell, began to think about his five brothers that were still on this earth.
Speaker 2:And he said Father Abraham, would you send Lazarus to testify unto my five brethren lest they also come to this place of torment? And Abraham said they have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them come to this place of torment. And Abraham said they have Moses and the prophets. Let them hear them. He said Nay, but Father.
Speaker 3:Abraham. If one would go unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Speaker 2:Oh, I preach to you. What if hell could preach? What if people in hell could preach? What would they say to this lost and dying world? What kind of message would they say? I want to tell you the first message that they would not preach would be this oh, you can live any way you want to.
Speaker 2:God still loves you. It don't matter if you've got a sin every day. God loves you. You can live any way you want to. God still loves you. It don't matter if you've got a sin every day. God loves you. You can live any way you want to. Amen God still loves you. He still cares about you and he still wants to help you.
Speaker 3:I guarantee you that will not be the message that come out of hell. Amen.
Speaker 2:But I tell you what kind of message would come out of hell. Amen. But I tell you what kind of message would come out of hell Repent, give all your self to God, turn away from every sin that you have.
Speaker 3:Amen, you don't have much time left. You don't want to come to where I'm at Amen. Whatever you have to do, get wrong with God.
Speaker 2:What kind of message would they preach to us from hell? I believe they would say if you feel the Holy Ghost dealing with you, don't you walk away from God. Don't you ever walk away from Holy Ghost conviction. If you feel God knocking on your heart's door, don't you keep that door shut. You open up your heart to God and let the Lord save you.
Speaker 3:Amen.
Speaker 2:It doesn't matter what anybody else in this world may think about you. You give your life to God and let the Lord save you. Amen. Doesn't matter what anybody else in this world may think about you. You give your life to God. What kind of message would come out of hell church? Oh, great Lord, help me preach right now. Woo. This rich man said, nay, father Abraham, but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. This rich man had five brothers.
Speaker 2:He said let somebody come from the dead and warn them not to come to this place of torment. What kind of message would be coming out of hell If somebody got to preach that was in hell? What kind of message would they preach? Could it be a backslid preacher that went to hell? Amen.
Speaker 2:Could it be a lukewarm deacon that went to hell? Or could it have been a young man that sat on the church pew, raised in church all of his life never had a true experience with God? Or could it just be an old sinner boy out there that's a pretty good guy that never really wanted to surrender his life to the Lord? Or could it be a drug addict that's addicted to the Lord? Or could it be a drug addict that's addicted to the things of this world that never could get deliverance? Or could it be an alcoholic that can never get free from drink? It really doesn't matter where you're at in this life. If your heart's not right with God, I believe every sinner in hell would scream out you don't want to come to this place of torment.
Speaker 3:You don't want to come here.
Speaker 2:What kind of preaching would there be coming out of hell? I guarantee you somebody would cry out and say don't listen to that preacher that'll tell you you gotta sin every day. I listened to that preacher that told me that we have to sin every day and I just thought that that's the way it was, amen. And now I've been deceived and I'm gonna be deceived for all of eternity. Listen, don't listen to that preacher that tells you you can live any way you want to, and grace will overshadow it.
Speaker 2:Don't listen. I'm telling you. There will be righteous preachers coming out of hell and we can just hear somebody preach.
Speaker 3:What kind?
Speaker 2:of message would they preach from?
Speaker 3:hell. I believe they say do whatever you have to do to get around with God. What if?
Speaker 2:here the rich man explored the possibility of somebody coming from hell and preaching the gospel. What would they say? Church what would they say? I guarantee you there would probably be somebody stand up and say I thought all I had to do was go to church and shake the preacher's hand and give my money and the offering and put my name on the church roll and I would be okay. But I'm here in hell and I want to preach to you that there's more to it than that.
Speaker 3:I was lied to. Somebody told me all I had to do was shake the preacher's hand and pay a little bit of tithe every once in a while and write my name on the roll. But I'm telling you I died and I went to hell and I want to tell you there's more to it than that.
Speaker 2:you've got to get saved what kind of preaching would come out of hell if somebody had the opportunity to share their experience with you? I believe somebody would step up from hell and say don't wait too late. The biggest lie of the devil is this right here?
Speaker 2:The devil tells people yes, you need to give your life to God. Yes, give everything to God. The devil will tell you don't hold anything back from God, you need to give your life to God, you need to repent, you need to get born again, you need to get saved by grace, but just don't do it right now. That's the biggest lie of the devil. But if somebody could come from hell and preach the gospel to you right here this Sunday morning, I believe that they would say don't listen to the lie of the devil. You don't know when would be your last opportunity to get right with God. Do it now, while you have a chance. I believe the most popular sermon that would come out of hell Would be this right now, would be this message right here Today is the day of salvation. Oh, right now. This is the second time.
Speaker 3:Don't wait till it's too late.
Speaker 2:Thank you for allowing me to use my imagination to explore the possibility of what it might be like if somebody from hell could preach the gospel. Oh God, but this is what Father Abraham said. Father Abraham said he said they have Moses and the prophets. Let them hear them. He said nay, father Abraham, but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. This is what Abraham said. He said unto him. If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. I want to tell you there's no possible way for somebody to come from hell and preach the gospel.
Speaker 2:But Moses told him you have the Word of God and if you're not going to be persuaded by the Word of God, then you wouldn't be persuaded if someone rose from the grave. If somebody come out of hell to preach Church, there is enough holy conviction coming out of the Word of God that it ought to convince you to get right with God. I'd say I wouldn't leave this house of God today if I wasn't 100% sure that my heart was right with God. I'm telling you I wouldn't take a chance. You don't know what would happen if you go out in that world. I need to pray in church right now. You don't know will happen if you go out in that world. I need to pray in church right now. You don't know, we are not promised tomorrow.
Speaker 2:So on the way to Virginia, me and my wife seen a horrible accident. This car run off in a ravine and it was stuck. You know how ravines go down deep sometimes and there's big trees coming out of that ravine. This car was stuck up into the top of a big old tree. It was a horrible accident. I don't know how many there was involved. I don't know if it was just a single driver there or if there was a carload of people. I have no idea, but there were several ambulances that was heading to that scene of that accident. I don't know if it was fatal, I don't know if they lived. It looked terrible, it looked fatal. But I want to tell you, when they got up that morning, I guarantee you they never thought they'd be involved in an automobile accident.
Speaker 2:And I want to tell us right here this morning we do not know how much time we have left in this world. The Bible said boast not thyself of tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. I tell you there's no shame in making sure that everything in your heart is right with God. The devil will tell you what will everybody think about you? Who cares what somebody thinks about you? This is your experience. Are you? This is your experience? Are you going to base your experience upon what other people might think about you in this life? If you do, then you probably will go to hell. I'm not concerned about what someone else thinks about my personal experience. I want to make sure my heart's right with God. If somebody's for it, great, but if somebody's not for it, that's not going to stop me From living for God. Amen.
Speaker 2:The devil will tell you, Don't you go up there to that altar today? The devil's a liar. You do not know what tomorrow may bring. You do not know what this evening may bring. So now, while you have time and opportunity, I want to make an appeal for everybody in this church to make sure that everything in your heart is right with God. Amen. I want my wife to come to the piano. We're going to pray around here. We're going to seek the Lord in this service. We've always got time to pray Right here. We're going to pray Right here. We're going to give an altar call. We're going to seek God right here. Amen. We're going to take some time and we're going to seek God around this altar, right here.
Speaker 2:Because if you just have one little doubt, If you just have one little doubt, if you just have one little doubt that there might be something in your heart that would stand between you and God, you need to get it fixed right now. I feel compelled to tell somebody right here this morning you need to make sure that your heart's right with God. Hey, there's nothing wrong with just making sure that your heart's right with God. Amen. Let's stand everyone. I don't think you have to come to an altar to get saved, but traditionally that's the way most people do it. I believe you can get saved right there at your seat. I believe you can get saved standing in that corner over there. But I tell you what makes what we need to do. That matters more than anything. Whether you're standing, sitting or kneeling down on your knees, it really don't matter. You need to pray right now and say God, I want to make sure that everything in my heart is right with the Lord. Can we do that right now? Can we do it right now, before we have altar call? Can everybody in this church pray right now? I'll lead us in prayer. Father, in the name of Jesus. Lord, I come to you in Jesus' name and I just want to make sure, Lord, that everything in my heart is right with the Lord. God, if there's just one unrepentant sin in my life, Lord, I don't want to take a chance on hell. Would you please forgive me, Jesus, Lord, if I've had thoughts of bitterness, if I've had some hatred in my heart for anybody. Lord, the Bible says that you cannot hate your brother, whom you have seen, and love God, whom you have not seen. Lord, the Bible teaches us that we can't go to heaven if we have hatred in our heart. Lord, whatever the sin is, God, I want to call on the name of Jesus right now and I want to be forgiven In Jesus' name, amen.
Speaker 2:Let's find us a place to pray Everybody. If you want to come to the altar the altars are open let's come. Let's find us a place to pray Everybody. If you want to come to the altar, the altars are open let's come. Let's pray. Let's make sure. Let's ask God to save us. If you've never been born again, ask the Lord to save you and help you to get born again, right here this morning. Let's all come, let's find a place to pray. For a love of else, I must be saved, must be saved more than security, more than success. If I should choose to only one thing, I'd take Jesus above the rest.
