Who Is Discipling Our Children? | The Battle for the Next Generation
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Every child is being discipled by someone.
In today's digital world, social media, TikTok trends, influencers, celebrities, K-pop culture, online personalities, and entertainment are shaping how children think about identity, beauty, success, relationships, and truth. The question isn't whether our children are being influenced—it's who is influencing them most.
In this episode of Rise Tayo, we examine what the Bible says about raising the next generation and why God entrusted the primary responsibility of discipleship to parents—not algorithms, influencers, schools, or even the church.
Together we'll explore:
📱 How social media quietly disciples children by shaping their values, worldview, and identity
🧠 Why comparison culture fuels anxiety, depression, insecurity, and hopelessness among young people
❤️ The greatest battle facing this generation: identity, not attention
📖 God's design for discipleship through Proverbs 22:6 and Deuteronomy 6:6-7
🏡 Why the home—not social media—is God's first classroom for spiritual formation
🙏 Practical ways parents can intentionally disciple their children every day
What continually feeds the mind eventually forms the identity.
We'll also discuss why Scripture—not trends—must become the foundation of our children's identity through passages including Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139, Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:8, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 16:26, and Matthew 28:19-20.
If you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, youth leader, or someone who cares about the next generation, this episode is both a wake-up call and an encouragement.
You'll be challenged to ask:
- Who is the loudest voice in my child's life?
- Do my children know more about celebrities than they know about Jesus?
- Are we intentionally discipling our children, or allowing culture to do it for us?
You'll also receive practical ideas you can begin today, including reading one chapter of the Bible together, praying as a family, discussing what your children consume online, memorizing Scripture, and teaching them to ask:
"Is this true? Does this glorify God?"
Remember:
The greatest battle for the next generation is not for their attention—it is for their identity.
Our greatest calling is not merely to raise successful children, but faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
Because success without Jesus is still eternity without Him.
🎧 If this episode encouraged you, share it with a fellow parent or kababayan. Together, let's raise a generation that knows God's Word, loves Jesus, and walks faithfully with Him.
