Think First: A Gaslight 360 Podcast with Jim Detjen
Think First is a short-form podcast that makes you pause — before you scroll, share, or believe the headline.
Hosted by Jim Detjen, a guy who’s been gaslit enough to start a podcast about it, Think First dives into modern narratives, media manipulation, and cultural BS — all through the lens of gaslighting and poetic truth.
Some episodes are two minutes. Some are ten. It depends on the story — and the energy drink situation.
No rants. No lectures. Just sharp questions, quick insights, and the occasional laugh to keep things sane.
Whether you’re dodging spin in the news, politics, or that “trust me, bro” post in your feed… take a breath. Think first.

The Gaslight Survival Kit (Podcast Edition)
Not all podcasts are created equal — and some are just louder versions of the same script.
In this bonus episode, I’m sharing the shows that sharpen my thinking, challenge the narrative, and occasionally make me laugh out loud while questioning everything. From history and psychology to politics and media spin, here’s what’s in my feed — and why it might deserve a spot in yours.
If you’re tired of being spoon-fed “the truth,” start building a playlist that helps you spot the gaslight before it flickers.
Stay sharp. Stay skeptical. #SpotTheGaslight

Welcome to Think. First, I'm Jim Detchen and no, this isn't a paid promo, it's a survival kit. In a world full of poetic truths, broken headlines and pundits who change their tune mid-broadcast, you need more than instincts. You need a sharp lineup of voices who make you harder to gaslight. A sharp lineup of voices who make you harder to gaslight. Some of these I listen to daily, some weekly, some only when I feel like voluntarily losing faith in institutions. Let's get into it. Let's start with the brain stuff, because the first person who gaslights you is usually yourself, hidden brain. If you want to know why your gut gets it wrong sometimes or how your childhood shaped your Twitter, feed this one's gold Freakonomics, radio Economics, psychology and sociology. Walk into a bar and somehow it's fascinating Stuff. You should know You'll learn something random every time, and half the time you'll go wait. Why did no one ever teach me this? Ted talks daily Snackable wisdom, not always grounded, but when it lands it really lands. Now let's talk media spin and the people who pull threads until the whole narrative unravels. The Glenn Beck Program, if you like, drawing lines between history, ideology and today's headlines. This is the chalkboard. You want ideology and today's headlines. This is the chalkboard you want.
Speaker 1:Countermind Podcast Low-key gem, great at decoding information, warfare and soft propaganda. The Daily Beans Sharp, legal-focused commentary with enough sarcasm to make you feel seen. This next group. They're not polished, they're not afraid, and thank God for that. The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton show Conservative takes, media takes, sports takes. They've got range and attitude. The Megyn Kelly show Megyn's not playing anyone's game anymore, which makes her a much better interviewer. The fifth column Smart, funny and uncomfortably honest. If you like nuance and a little swearing, this is your jam. Ben Shapiro Show Fast, sharp and relentless, sometimes too much coffee, but always worth a listen. Banter by AEI Think tank-style policy talk Dry, yes, but there's substance under the spreadsheets.
Speaker 1:Political gab fest A more establishment lens, but useful to see how mainstream narratives are shaped and sold. If you want to spot the gas light, sometimes you have to look backward first. Revisionist history Malcolm Gladwell challenges what we thought we knew. Half inspiration, half reset button. Common Sense with Dan Carlin when Dan talks you listen History, urgency and a voice that sounds like it's been aged in bourbon. And truth. Cato Institute Daily Podcast Libertarian, measured, very.
Speaker 1:What's the role of government here? Energy this last group. They don't just question narratives, they rip up the whole page. The Jordan B Peterson Podcast Ideas, identity, civilization. Some episodes feel like therapy, others feel like war.
Speaker 1:The Jesse Kelly Show Military meets Machiavelli. If you like, blunt and brutal, he delivers. The Michael Savage show Smart, intense, unpredictable, the kind of show that makes you want to Google things immediately. The Joe Rogan experience Look, love him or not, he's still where uncensored conversation lives and sometimes the rabbit holes matter. The Sean Ryan Show Raw, honest and from people who've actually done the hard things Espionage, national security and stories you won't find on NPR.
Speaker 1:The Tucker Carlson Show Gaslighting's worst enemy. When power lies, Tucker stares straight through it and lights a match. That's the list. You don't need to agree with them all. I don't but if a podcast never challenges you or never makes you squint a little harder, it's probably just keeping you comfortable. Visit Gaslight360.com slash clarity for the full clarity framework, bonus tools and a live, updated version of this podcast list. On a side note, I started think first to push back against the gaslighting and the poetic truths that keep showing up in the news, in politics and in everyday life, but it's grown into something bigger. If these episodes help you think differently, or just help you see things more clearly. You can support what we're building at buymeacoffeecom slash gaslight360. No ads, no sponsors whispering in our ear, just real talk, and your support helps keep it that way. Whether it's one time or monthly, it means more than you know. So thanks seriously for listening, for thinking, for asking the questions they don't want you asking.
