JordanYay! And the biggest thing coming up right now, April 25th, Uranus ingresses into Gemini. Um, and right now, Uranus is at the anaeretic degree in Taurus, which is great because that's what our episode is about. Um, being at this last final degree of Taurus is all about this culmination of what this eight-year journey Uranus has had in Taurus. So this is this really takes a lot of looking at your chart, where you have Taurus, what house this is in, and thinking about what this journey has looked like for you for the past eight years.
EmberYeah, we have a new moon April 17th at 7:51 a.m. Eastern Standard Time in Aries. And Jordan, I have to tell you, so because I so sadly missed the last episode with you, I was like die hard searching for what the full moon was coming up because I was like, we just did a new moon, like it has to be a full moon. And I will, I like gaslit myself into like, I was like going down, I was like, I was like asking the internet and I was like, when's the next? And then it told me, I think I was like trying so hard that it just started making gates up. And I was like, it was like the pink moon. And I was like, wait, wait, wait, wait, we just had a full moon. And then I was like, but that was the pink moon.
SPEAKER_01And then I just went down this thing about how, oh, there must be two full moons happening this month.
EmberAnyway, it's a it's a new it's a new moon, everyone. And I do love this cycle because I think we get to reflect back on our previous Zodiac episode, which is so cool, right? We just had such a deep conversation about Aries, and now you can take some of those lessons and incorporate that into your new moon practice. So I think this new moon could be really great for initiation energy, whether you're starting a new project, a new creative endeavor, or you've been thinking about like really going for something. This is where you're just gonna trust your instinct and go for it. This isn't like a time to sit and wonder and think about it. You just fucking go.
JordanI think the thing that I'm most looking at with this new moon is the huge stellium that there's gonna be, or in layman's term, a huge pile up is what we like to say. Um, so there's gonna be six planets plus Chiron in Aries at this time. So we've got Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Chiron, and the Sun and Moon all in Aries at the same time. And I said this in the in the last episode I did on my own that if there are any children being born on this day, oh yeah, I really want to know what they turn out to be like in a couple decades. So hit me up.
EmberThat chart is gonna look wild. It's gonna be a lot of Aries. It's just gonna be like that is a lot.
JordanIt's it is a lot. I can't even like begin to like to delineate it. It is it's a lot. There's like Mars at home, Saturn in fall, sun exalted, moon's fine, Neptune's Neptune, Mercury's fine. It's a lot.
EmberThat's a lot, all an Aries. That person is just gonna be like a fire.
JordanAn Aries. I know when I say when I make those things where I'm like, you're not just your sun sign or whatever. This person, this person is an Aries. It's going to be an Aries. But we're not here to talk about Aries today, so why don't we kick it off to our Taurus signal?
Taurus Basics In Your Chart
SPEAKER_02We are talking about Taurus.
EmberWe all have all of the signs in our chart somewhere. So as you're listening to this episode, if you can and have the ability to pull up your own chart and see where Taurus lives in your chart. Which house does Taurus make its little? I don't know. I picture Taurus like making its little home there. I feel like if any of the signs build a home, it's Taurus.
JordanOh, interesting take. Where do you have Taurus? I already know the answer, but tell everyone else. Is it Taurus in my eighth house? Yes.
EmberYeah. I'm like, oh yeah, I don't look at that one that often.
JordanWell, you're about to learn today, baby. So something I want to do before all of our deep dives is I want to hear what you already know about Taurus and what's your like, what is your current impression of Taurus before we talk about it?
EmberI think of Taurus as stable. I think they are, I think they're like can be considered like materialistic sometimes. Um, but they just like stuff. I don't know if it's necessarily like materialism versus like they really love to feel safe and loved in a way that like does kind of create a home or stability or access to food. Like everybody obviously deserves that and needs that, but I think Taurus really like builds their safety around that and like the things that they have. Um, I also think it's like being in connection, it is an earth sign, so like being in connection with the earth. Um, I feel like Taurus are always I feel like Taurus is like a happy sign. I don't know why. I just feel like Taurus people are happy.
unknownInteresting.
EmberYeah, I don't know. It's like they're in a good relationship with the earth and like the material world. I don't know. They're just like cozy. I want to hug them.
unknownThey do.
Fixed Earth And Venus Moon Lore
EmberThey enjoy simple. What? Taurus does love hugs. So Taurus loves hugs and like the simple pleasures, I feel like.
JordanSo in our last episode, I had talked about what makes up a sign. So I'm curious if you have any anything you can pull out from like Taurus being our feminine fixed Earth sign. You talked a lot about Earth ruled by Venus. I'm curious where you think like any of those come in. The f the yin, the Venus, the fifty.
EmberYeah. Oh, that's actually really funny you asked that because I have been trying to understand the modalities a little bit better. They've always been quite elusive to me. So I was thinking about Taurus being like a fixed sign. It's our first fixed sign of the zodiac, actually. And so I feel like they are like intensely fixed. Like they're like difficult to move, stable. And like I feel like if a Taurus like has an idea, it's like really hard to change their mind about it.
JordanYeah, that's completely that completely makes sense. Tauruses are known for being like slow to change, they're known for being like dogmatic. And slow to change, again, it's just one of those things where it's a neutral thing. Like you can trust what a Taurus is saying, you can trust that you can believe them, I guess, because they've thought about it a lot and they've made their decision. And then it's like the next time you see them, you can like feel secure that they haven't changed their mind, I guess. Does that make sense?
EmberYeah. So like if we're comparing our Aries to our Taurus, I feel like the Aries was the one that was like, I'm going for it. And Taurus is like, I need to take a second and really think about this and be like, okay, like what are we doing? And I feel like once they make that decision, it's like really hard to change it.
JordanYeah, and like the next time you talk to an Aries, they might be on a completely different plane than the last time you had talked about it. But with a Taurus, again, you can like trust that they're still thinking the same thing. They feel the same way they did when they told you the first time.
EmberYeah, there's something so like comforting about that. That's what I mean. Like, co Taurus are like cozy.
JordanLike, I I love actually one of the really interesting things to me about Taurus is like this this conversation around like comfort zones, because Taurus does love things that are comfy. It is a very cozy sign, and as we're gonna get into, like, Taurus loves all the sensual pleasures in life. And along with that, Taurus is one of the signs that is the most uncomfortable with leaving that comfort zone. Oh, that makes for better or for worse, but like one of those things like Taurus doesn't care, like Taurus as an archetype does not like have a strong desire or motivation to go beyond their comfort zone because why? I'm so I have so many like pleasures and things here. Why why do I need anything else? Um, and we know on a bigger scale that we grow when we're not in our comfort zone. Um, but that's something that's really interesting about Taurus, and then it really contrasts with Aries, which came right before it, because Aries is the one who establishes, who pioneers, and is like, what is a comfort zone?
EmberYeah, and I feel like when we start to think about like this, I always, you know, I guess this comes to mind because of the tarot, right? The tarot is like a story from the fool to the world card and that that story of the evolution of the fool. And I think like you can kind of see that in the zodiac a little bit. I don't know, like I picture like Aries as kind of the fool, where like they're just going for it, like blank slate, run in. And then Taurus is a little bit of that, like, okay, we're gonna start to build now. Like, we're gonna sit and like, I don't know, that like earthly. I mean, we talk about the elements, right? So it's an earth sign, um, and it's a feminine earth sign. So it's very much about like sitting and waiting and and like like intuitively guiding in those decisions and actions rather than just like going for it.
JordanYou're saying so many good words. So Oh, thank you. Well, really excites because something I had written down was Aries can sometimes be about like destruction. Again, good or bad. Some things need to be burned down. Um, but Aries can be about like destruction, where Taurus is the one that's like, okay, we've we've destroyed it, and thinks about like, well, now what? How do we rebuild? And you were talking about building. Taurus is like, what do we rebuild now and how do we do it? You also talked about intuition. You know, feminine signs are already gonna kind of have this this a stronger, like inner, I guess like an inner monologue that connects with their intuition. But going along with that, the moon who rules our intuition is exalted in Taurus, so this is the moon's favorite sign to be in. And in ancient techniques, some people like you have the planet ruler of the sign, and then they will also consider the exalted ruler as what makes up that sign.
EmberSo, like we talked about, we did talk about that with Ares a little bit because the sun is exalted there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
JordanGood job. Um, but the in Taurus, this is Venus's home temple, and then the moon is exalted here. So this is kind of like a Venus moon sign, Taurus.
EmberOoh, super, and that like almost makes it feel like even extra intuitive and like connected to the subconscious, which is not something people, I think, automatically think about with Taurus.
JordanYeah, and I think Taurus to me is such, not to me, just is. Taurus is such an embodied sign. Um, and it's very interesting because we know someone very close to us who is a Taurus who has said that they don't that for a long time they felt so disconnected from their body and they thought it was because they were a Taurus, and I I was like, that's crazy. I didn't say that, but I was like, that's insane because Taurus is like the sign of embodiment to me. Like, this is a sign that is about being in your body. It is the Venus moon sign, and moon rules our body. So, like, there's nothing more embodying to me than the sign of Taurus.
EmberOh, I love that. That's so interesting. I feel like that's my tagline. That's so interesting. But I really took to heart your last episode about using the polarity elements and modalities to like understand the signs because they truly give a nuanced look at the sign itself beyond like the key words many people associate with them. And so I think this is a really good example of that. I did like it being an embodied sign feels so true and powerful, and I think the way we get there is by looking at the polarity and elements and and the modality here about like how we kind of get there, you know? Yeah, and of course, our ruling planets and exalted planets here, exalted bodies, since the moon isn't a planet, I guess.
JordanOh, yeah, in astrology we call them all planets.
EmberSo just to summarize, then polarity is feminine or yin or passive energy. The element is Earth, the modality is fixed, and our ruling planet is Venus, and our exalted planet is the moon.
JordanDo you know who's in who is in detriment?
EmberOh, who's in detriment in Taurus? Yeah. Who would hate being in Taurus?
JordanSo it's a it's more so looking thinking about the the diagram of the zodiac wheel. Oh if that doesn't hate you. I'll go ahead and explain it more. So if this helps you remember, Venus and Mars oppose each other. So where Venus likes to be, Mars doesn't like to be.
EmberI was gonna say Mars.
JordanOh, okay. Well that's you and I would have understood.
EmberSo wait, what is in fall?
JordanSo nothing is actually in fall and Taurus.
EmberOkay. Why why?
JordanUm, I don't know.
EmberBecause it's usually what has dignity is in fall is also opposite or no?
JordanExalt exaltation.
EmberExaltation and fall.
JordanYeah, they're the ones that oppose each other. So the moon is in fall and Scorpio, which opposes Taurus.
EmberThe moon is in fall and Scorpio.
JordanBut nothing is exalted in Scorpio, so nothing is in fall in Taurus. I think some people say Uranus is exalted in Scorpio, which would mean that Taurus uh that Uranus is in fall in Taurus. I don't follow that scheme, but for sure.
EmberI'm following it. Hopefully, our listeners are following it too. I remember us talking about this in the planetary episodes. Yeah. It's just been a while since I've thought about it, but that makes sense. Intuitively, Mars would be in detriment in Taurus because Mars is like the go-to action planet, and Taurus is like a big boulder being like, hold the fuck up.
Taurus Traits Comfort And Embodiment
JordanYeah. Yeah. So I'm gonna list out some keywords now for everyone to write down if you have paper and pencil in front of you. Um, and then I'm curious which one of these stick out to you, if anything. But we have we've talked about some of these already. Slow growth, slow to change, resistant to change, stubborn, slow to let go, very dependable, persistent, they're sustainable, they're nurturing, they're supportive. Um, I wrote very embodied. Taurus is very associated with farming and gardening and cultivating. Um, a big like, there's lots of stereotypes for Taurus, um, and one of them is like a very like farm-to-table attitude. Like Taurus is the one who's gonna garden their food. Um also organic eaters is uh Taurus saying, Virgo too. Um, Taurus, like some other fun stereotypes. Tauruses love plants and they love baking bread. Um, they love hiking. Um, some other stereotypes are that Tauruses are lazy. And this one falls in line with what we know about Taurus, but Taurus is very pleasure-seeking, and with all things, there can be too much of a good thing. So some of those stereotypes come from again, I guess like that never leaving the comfort zone and indulging too much in th and indulging too much in things that aren't good for you. But there is a positive side of that of in indulging in things that bring you joy and feel good to you.
EmberThat can really like that can really accept pleasure, which a lot of people cannot do. You should follow me on Instagram if you're one of those people. I've got a lot to do with it. So the nurturing is interesting because I didn't say this. Why?
JordanOh card? Yeah, yeah.
EmberOkay, so at the beginning of the episode, um, Jordan and I always, we've talked about before we pull cards, and I pulled the compassion card, which I'll show everyone here. It's very um, it feels very earthy. Like it's got some leaves down here, a snake, and this like two-headed rabbit thing. And I was like, huh, compassion. I was like, I don't know, maybe that feels Taurusy. And we kind of like went back and forth a little bit, but I think it's that like support and nurturing and compassion that I think a lot of people automatically put into a sign like cancer or something like that. But I think Taurus can definitely have I think this is more of that polarity conversation, right? The more feminine side of just being like supportive and nurturing and like rule by Venus and you know, have that love and compassion that I think I think that's true of Taurus.
JordanI think it also comes from the being moon exalted. Uh, and it's funny because you brought up cancer, which is moon-ruled, and the moon is exalted here. So I think yeah, there a lot of it comes from the moon for sure, there. Oh, something that's really interesting about Taurus is that they this goes along with that whole comfort zone thing, but they um will often like hyper-fixate, and not so much in the way where they like hyperfixate for a couple weeks and then move on to another hyperfixation, but more so like they they pick something they really like, and that's it. That's the thing that they like. So it could be when they go to a restaurant, they always order the exact same food. No matter where they go, they get the same thing. Or when they find a new song they like, they listen to that song over and over and over and over again without changing songs. Um I think you mentioned this too, Taurus is really like the simple pleasures in life. So Taurus loves a good blanket, a good candle, a good hug, a good cookie.
EmberUm you have your moon in Taurus, right?
JordanI do, and my Mercury.
EmberYeah.
JordanI do, in fact, love a good candle and a cookie.
SPEAKER_00An obsession with astrology.
JordanYeah, and then that's the thing. I don't um my way of hyperfixating, I do become obsessed with things, uh, but I don't move on very quickly. I I stick to it for a very long time. I always say I make it my business to become the expert on things.
EmberI yeah, that's so, so true. That's a very embodied statement, Jordan. Um what does that mean if it's in my eighth house? I'm obsessed with death and kinky sex.
JordanI don't well no, Taurus is not about obsession. See, what I would say without knowing anything about your chart, I would say like you find what you like there and you kind of stick with it. But that's only in the context of this part that we're talking about about the hyperfixating. However, you have Venus in Gemini, which is the not like Taurus at all. Venus in Gemini is like, I want to try new things. Actually, I was listening to a po another podcast, I think it was the astrology podcast, and they were talking about the same thing with Mercury. Someone had Mercury. Um, in Taurus, but their Venus was in Gemini, and they were talking about that Mercury and how they want to try a bunch of new things, and that comes from the Gemini. So as far as like talking about eighth house and sex, which I know we disagree on, but I will play along. I know let's talk about taxes. Um or you know, I guess if we were to talk about like the death, the ending part there, I don't think it would be an obsession.
EmberI don't know if I necessarily have fixed views on death.
JordanBut again, you're like you can't change the you can't ignore the fact that your Venus is an immutable sign.
EmberYeah.
JordanI think too, this is such a different conversation, but the difference with traditional and modern techniques, like traditional is so much more about prediction, and this modern stuff is a lot more about the psychology and it's so true.
EmberI just had some go on. Oh, I just had some I was listening to somebody being like, all you astrologers making this about you. It's not about you. Astrology is for prediction. I was like, I make it about me.
JordanAnd that's what gets a lot of people into it. But yeah, so you wouldn't, you know, using traditional techniques, using the traditional meanings of the eighth house, you never would be like, well, Taurus hyperfixates, so this person hyperfixates on taxes. That makes so much sense. But in a modern context, maybe you would more so look at sex, because modernly that is where sex is considered to be. Um and death is I think death is kind of one of those middle topics where it it's not super, super old, but it's not as new as sex being there. So that was a really roundabout way of not answering your question at all.
EmberOkay, I love it. Yeah, you're we're here for it.
JordanIsn't that what astrology is all about?
Value Thrifting And Earth Sign Contrast
EmberIt's what we're in the study room for, baby.
JordanUm, another interesting thing about Taurus is Taurus doesn't reinvent the wheel, um, but is really good at like repurposing things. And Taurus has like an inherent way of seeing the value in things. So while someone else might buy a new thing and Taurus does love to buy things, Taurus can also be very thrifty. Taurus can go into a thrift store and can definitely see the value in just stuff, in the physical things. Taurus being like a slow sign, like Taurus also doesn't like to be rushed. And a fun example could be at a thrift store. Give someone who's strongly Taurus, give them a lot of time in that thrift store. Do not rush them to pick out what they will be buying.
EmberMentioning the thrift store is really funny because I feel like I go into a thrift store and it's so easy to get lost in there and feel and feel the energies and be like, whoa, what is going on? Whereas a Taurus, I do think, like you said, takes time and really I think also like finds the beauty in things. So, like finding the beauty in the objects at the thrift store, finding beauty in just like kind of the mundane, like cooking, cleaning, like maybe they connect spiritually with those things as well.
JordanYeah. What uh what's what are your shopping habits like? Like when you go into a store, what are you like?
EmberWhat it depends on the store. I shop, I do take a long time to shop, but especially if it's like a small business. If I'm in like a Target or a Walmart, I'm like in and get me the fuck out. But like if I'm in a small business store, I'm like, how can I support this store? I want to buy something, and then I'll like spend forever, and then I'll like talk up the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper, is that what they're called?
SPEAKER_02My in medieval times, but I talk up the shopkeeper.
EmberAnd but there's literally been times, I think this might be a little bit of like Libra connection, or the it's the Venus energy. Oh, yeah, we're definitely talking about Venus right now. Yes, and like I um I've like gone into stores and made friends with the people behind the counters like so fast, and the amount of like free stuff I get from things like that they'll like insider tip from Ember.
JordanLike, no, it's all about the shopkeeper and you will get free things.
EmberUm, there's so it's like you build a connection, they'll give me like a sticker, or like, I don't know. There's a store at where I work that it's like in our botanical gardens. It's the woman who owns it is the sweetest, most loveliest human ever. And I love her so much. And she every time I see her, she like gives me a little snack, or like she's like, this popcorn expired like a few days ago. Here you go, honey. And like I love her so much. Anyway, that's my shopping habits. I try to shop small, I take a long time. That's so Gemini, though.
JordanThat is so like I go into the store and I talk to I talk to the owner. That's very Gemini. Venus.
SPEAKER_00Create connections and buy things to support them.
JordanSo something I do want to talk about too is talking about how Taurus differs from the other Earth signs. So we talked a little bit about like how Aries differed from the fire signs. So what makes Taurus different is for one, most off the bat, it is considered more stable than Virgo, who is our mutable earth. And more stable than Capricorn, too. And Capricorn is pretty stable. Taurus more so maintains, while Capricorn establishes, so that's kind of why Taurus is considered more stable, because it doesn't change, whereas Capricorn is like, I'm gonna start something and I will I will stick to that thing. I'm very Saturnian and I will do this thing forever, but I started it. Whereas Taurus is like, I'm gonna continue what's been done. I'm gonna maintain. Capricorn is also considered to be more ambitious than Taurus, um, and Virgo wants to perfect everything. So those are kind of some of the differences between Taurus and the other Earth signs.
Taurus Archetypes Glyphs And “I Have”
EmberOh, I love that. And I think one thing that that reminded me of talking about were the roles. Like I really liked when we talked about those roles, like the athlete, those like oh, the archetypes, yeah. Yeah, the archetypes. That's interesting, because like Capricorn, we think of like the CEO. And so trying to think of the roles for Taurus was really interesting. I was like, what is the role of a Taurus? Because it's not like it's not like mother energy. And so the what I had come up with was like kind of like hippie nature lover. But but then I was like, but that kind of took away the material aspect of it, is what I was thinking. So I don't know if it's just like like an earth priestess, is that like ultimate Taurus energy? Like somebody who like truly works with the land and nature um and builds on the history and experiences of ancient priestesses before us. But I don't know what archetypes have you learned about?
JordanThe ones that I'm aware of for the archetypes for Taurus, Taurus is a builder. A baker, which fun fact, when I first started learning astrology, I misread baker and I thought it said banker. Like bank teller. So for like a good six months, I had pictured Taurus as a banker. Like bank teller. Uh but no, it's baker, someone who bakes things. Um, farmer is another one for Taurus. Um, I think those are the big ones. Builder, banker, not banker, baker. Builder, baker, and farmer. And then like the things that go along with that. Like gardener is also a big Taurus one.
EmberI think I I love the baker archetype. Um because that's kind of what I'm picturing as a Taurus, and where they can do a lot of their spiritual work. I'll think I think I'll like bring that up a little bit um later. So the glyphs, because I love the glyphs. I think they're so cool. So these are as a reminder, um, the like sign, the actual like sign, like the sigil that represents. The symbol. I think of sigil.
JordanYou were just like doing this for a while.
SPEAKER_00This is a Taurus. It kind of is. Are you gonna show it on the video one?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'll put it on.
SPEAKER_00Yes, so it's like this, but then like this. Is that Taurus?
JordanYou know, um, isn't this like the uh has been hotel sign or this? No, I don't remember. I think it's this because it's like a heart with horns. Oh I think it's like a has been hotel thing. I could be wrong.
EmberI could see Charlie as a Taurus. Maybe I don't know. But cancer. I'm gonna go. Yeah, she's 100% a cancer. I think I'm fully sure as a cancer. Um so the glyph the glyph for Taurus is essentially a circle with horns to make it look like a bull, right? The the sign of Taurus is bull. Which I thought is really interesting, actually, and I've never thought about this before, is that you go from like a ram to a bull. Do you have any thoughts on why? Like, why are they?
JordanI was actually like so enthralled right now because I was like, tell me, animal doctor, tell me what tell me why this is significant. Well, I don't know. My only I mean I they're both like very like strong animals. They're both like you picture them as something you can't push over. And that's the extent of what I know about these animals.
EmberYeah, besides the fact that a bull is bigger, like they're very similar energies, even though Taurus is like a same as Aries. No, and but and it's like a cow, right? Like a cow, it's like cow energy. I don't know. I guess cows can have horns too. So she could be feminine. So yeah, I mean cows have horns. So I think like a bull's head, I think people just traditionally put the horns on a bull, but that's because most people dehorn, disbud the cows. Um, and so just people don't think of them as having them.
JordanI'm thinking too with a ram, because I guess the whole thing is a ram runs in the thing with its with its head, and Aries dives head first into things.
EmberYeah, and they have big horns, right?
JordanLike rams have like the thing, yeah.
EmberThey have the big horns, so they protect themselves, whereas yeah, the cows are like boop, and it's it's very like a genetic thing as well. So not all cows have them, like cows can have them, but um, so I think the energy is what we think was different. I think it's because, you know, like I don't necessarily I picture a Taurus as stubborn, but I don't necessarily say they're like bullheaded or anything like that. I think it's also really cool because it's the way it like comes out too. It's like we've talked about what that glyph was about like the ram, it was coming out. We were talking about like potentially creation, right? It looked like we said it looked like testicles.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
EmberUm, whereas really it's like that circle. I I really like this. The torus is like that circle of almost like manifestation, or like um the other thing was like a root vegetable, like a turnip or something like that. The leaves coming out. So it's like some growing. Oh, and the last one was like, I thought, like, it also looks like somebody being like boop arms up. Sorry, that's that's what boop. So like the circle with arms up. So like accepting things from the physical realm or like I think I read this probably in one of the books. This one I read in one of the books of just accepting the physical and like manifesting things down. I don't know, accepting the gifts that the physical realm has to offer. But I'm like, does it also look like somebody baking bread? Like if it's like their arms are in and that's the bread, maybe.
JordanYou know, especially, yeah, too. Um if you were to like look at a person from like a bird's eye view and it's like their arms coming out, yeah, in the bread bowl or something. So yeah.
EmberAnd then so that's our glyph. So the circle with the horn, the horns, which Jordan will put on the screen, it's right there. Indeed.
JordanI'm gonna like have it where I've had it the whole time, and then I'm gonna move it right there.
EmberI dare. So I love talking about our statements. What did you call them? I called them power statements. What did you call them?
JordanI don't I think I didn't call I think I've said that I didn't have a name for them, and I just call them the statements.
EmberThe statements. I mean, we're gonna change them every time. Oh, right, alright. So, so naturally, what would what is your like power statement for Taurus?
JordanWell, it's not mine, it's it's like what the statement is.
EmberOh.
JordanSo Taurus is I have or to have. No, oh, you thought I made that up? No. And then I went I went through all of them. I think that you we have not just a spoil spoiler alert every time.
EmberNo spoiler alerts, no.
JordanOkay.
SPEAKER_00You can't share your knowledge with us yet.
JordanTame yourself.
EmberUm, okay, so I have. I have. Yeah, that sounds very Taurus-y.
Venus Rulership Taurus Versus Libra
JordanSo what I really love to do as another way to like get to know the signs is is comparing them to all the other signs. And the big one is looking at who the sign shares a ruler with, what other sign they share a ruler with, and then looking at the sign that they oppose. So first let's talk about Taurus and Libra. So both of these signs are ruled by Venus. And Taurus is a fixed earth sign, Libra is a cardinal air sign. Air is more abstract while earth is more grounded. Um, Libra wants to go to an art gallery and view all of the art, um, and Taurus wants to go on a garden walk. Libra wants to go to a party, Taurus wants to snuggle on the couch together. So these are kind of like this is really like the air and versus earth coming in. So they're both seekers of beauty and pleasure, as Venus ruled signs. But Libra wants to go start relationships, because again, it's cardinal and it's air, so they want to start relationships. Taurus wants to maintain some status quo and seek comfort. Taurus is more about the engagement of the senses, while Libra is more about the engagement of the mind. That makes sense. And as a very like, obviously, you're a Venus rule person, you're very connected to Venus, you're very connected to Libra. Well, I haven't you said that you weren't always super like you didn't identify with Libra.
EmberI think it's because I didn't really understand Libra. I all I knew about Libra was like it was about balance, and I was like, I don't care about balance. Fuck the system.
unknownWhat?
JordanFuck the system.
EmberSo I think like it was my very shallow understanding of Libra. So I'll be excited to do a deep dive into that. But I do think I feel connected with Libra, especially like Libra and understanding where Gemini is too. Like, I have a lot of air in my chart.
JordanSo I'm asking you a lot about this because I like I just I know you've spent a lot of time with Venus, but what what strikes you about Libra versus Taurus as both Venus rolled signs?
EmberThat's a great question. I have always thought of Taurus as like the material pleasures, and Libra is like the mind pleasures. Libra being like an error sign, it's that stimulating conversation you have that makes you feel all like tingly or like it just feels really good, or um getting to uh talk with somebody.
JordanWhat?
EmberWhen someone tells you a good joke, yeah, and it's like really funny, it's like engaging those that like mental stimulation, whereas Taurus is like that tactile feeling of feeling good. And I think that you know, I think Libra is a very embodied sign as well, but in like a different way. I think Libra obtains pleasure through the mind, and I think you need all of that to be an embodied individual. Yeah, makes sense as well as your fire and your your spirit and all of that.
JordanYeah, because that's the thing, because we could definitely go down, and maybe someday we will do totally another soda on this, but like you can go down each, how we need each sign to fully be embodied and all that.
SPEAKER_00What? That's my entire presentation for today's summit.
EmberIs it yes? So I'm gonna do another shameless plug. Um, so what Jordan just said about how like you need all the signs to be embodied, I will be presenting on movement as a reclamation of pleasure with Tanae Stewart's summit coming up, The Lover Within. It's completely free to sign up. So I will definitely take a look at my socials because I will be presenting on this and a framework for how to live your most embodied magical life, which includes looking at the pentagram as part as like the staple, that framework of like connecting with yourself.
SPEAKER_00And so, anyways, Jordan, you we are always on the same wavelength, I feel like. So that's really funny you said that.
JordanYeah, oh, I love that. I'm so excited to watch it. The other sign I want to compare Taurus with is Scorpio, because Scorpio and Taurus are on the same axis together and they oppose each other. So, again, Taurus, fixed Earth, ruled by Venus, and Scorpio is fixed water, ruled by Mars. So we have it. This is all gonna make even more sense when we get to the second half of the Zodiac because we haven't covered Scorpio yet. But Scorpio likes Scorpio is known for like being in touch with darker topics. Um Scorpio's known for being intense. Again, ruled by Mars, so very active, but also a water sign and feminine, so very it's a very internal thing. Um I would actually say sometimes too, Scorpio's like struggle to trust intuition. So while Taurus, who is a grounded earth sign, struggles to grapple with like the impermanence of everything, I guess, like the impermanence of life, the impermanence of the earth, the impermanence of the food in front of you, just this idea that nothing can last forever, whereas Scorpio is a lot more accepting of that fact. Not necessarily always embraces it, but like some Scorpios definitely do embrace the death that comes with everything and work with that and kind of like the beauty of death and all of that. I think that's very Earth versus water. Uh, water is more changing, even though they're both fixed signs, water is more of a changing element than the earth is. Scorpio can be more likely to embrace things that are uncomfortable. Um, and that's kind of the very Mars thing. Like, Mars is just not a very fearful planet. Uh, where we talked about before, Taurus does not like to leave that comfort zone. So Scorpio embraces discomfort, Taurus avoids it. Um, Taurus doesn't want to rock the boat. That's a very like Venusian thing. Taurus doesn't want to cause conflict or like be seen involved in conflict. Um, Scorpio, yeah. Scorpio doesn't like think about that at all. Scorpio is not concerned with being in the middle of a conflict. If they have something to talk about, if they want to be involved, they're just gonna do it. Another fun one, Taurus. I just think this is kind of funny. Taurus doesn't like horror movies, and Scorpio loves horror. So I think that's like the whole like Scorpio is interested in death and those darker topics, whereas Taurus wants all the feel-good things, and like horror is not considered a feel-good thing. Um, and I just think that's how does that work with you?
SPEAKER_00With being horror. You love horror. Okay.
JordanLove horror. Um, I need more friends who love horror.
EmberCannot stand horror.
JordanUm, yeah, I am a Scorpio rising.
EmberYes, that is why I asked that question.
JordanYeah.
EmberIn case anybody forgot. I talk about my chart a lot, but not so much.
JordanIt do be like that. Taurus is less about power, while Scorpio is considering power, and Taurus is also more concerned with aesthetics than Scorpio is. That makes a lot of sense to me. Good. I did my job.
EmberUm, and then I wanted to talk about like the magic and the tarot behind Taurus just a little bit to kind of wrap us up, I guess, right, Jordan?
unknownYeah.
EmberOkay. So Taurus energy, like we have been implying, really, I think is drawn to physical things in magic that can engage the senses. So I thought a lot about herbal working, right? Like you can engage smell really easily with herbs, you can engage taste. And obviously, herbal magic is so much fun. You can do so much with it. You can dress candles, you could put herbs inside amulets, you can make tea and do divination with tea leaves. So I think that would be an awesome way to engage and connect with Taurus. And then I I but I do I do be thinking that anything that engages your senses can be Taurusy. So maybe you want to do some candle magic, but adding a layer of having like a really yummy, delicious scented candle would like tingle that little Taurus, that Taurus connection that you might have. Um, and then I also had the example of baking to Jordan, except it was like baking magically. So, like you may um create offerings for your deities that you might work with, your spirits, or for the land itself. So, like making sure it's safe for nature. You could do like I I will sometimes make like oat cookies or apple oat little things, and I'll leave it outside as an offering to nature. It's so funny, it always disappears within a few hours. I'm like, who the heck ate this?
JordanI get those bird cakes. Do you know what I'm talking about?
EmberLike the suets?
JordanI actually have like one literally right here.
EmberUm, like these suets, yeah, I get those two.
JordanWhat does like suet mean? I don't know this word.
EmberUm, I don't know exactly what the word suet is. I just know suets are just like a conglomeration of fat and oils and stuff that the birds can eat off of. It's like a higher energy for them. So I love giving them in the winter time. But yeah, you can absolutely give them in the spring and summer.
JordanI thought this would last like a month. Like it just feels like solid and something that like. Oh, it doesn't, but no, the birds get through it in a couple hours, and I'm like, wow, that was that was Oh, sometimes that could be squirrels. No, I I mean maybe, but I watched the birds like go through it real fast.
EmberIt is true. They do eat it very quickly. Um, I've I there's sp anyway, this is going down a rap. I was gonna say there's specific ones you can buy to ward off the squirrels. It's like spicy. Um, because fun fact birds cannot taste spice. But Yeah, they don't have the capsaicin receptor that like is like spicy.
JordanLike it doesn't what can they taste?
EmberI don't know. Stuff besides spicy things.
JordanTaste fats, maybe.
EmberYeah. I just know they don't have I don't know. I just know they can't taste spicy things. I've never asked a bird. Maybe next time I will. I mean you should. But they prefer.
JordanYou're the one to do it. Um what you have like you're like a waitress. Like, what suet would you like today?
SPEAKER_01This conversation though.
EmberUm, I love it. But uh, so yes, I I think also when you're baking, adding herbs to your baking or your specific little things or specific ingredients can make can turn like a mundane task into some spell work. And I just love that. And I think a Taurus would love that too. And then any tools associated with the sign. So if you're specifically looking for that earthy energy, uh, or again, looking to connect with Taurus or know or see you have Taurus, like a lot of Taurus in your chart, then adding some ritual robes or clothing that feel really good, I think in general for a Taurus would be really, really lovely. Or some beautiful jewelry that like feels really tactile on the skin. Um, and then I also think engaging, like again, engaging your senses, right? So like some sort of instrument uh could also like really connect you. So think something like the drum was what came to mind for a Taurus.
JordanYeah, and I forgot to mention this either another archetype of Taurus is the artist. Um, because Venus is a very is the artsy planet.
EmberSo Libra is also another archetype for Libra is also artist, but yeah, Taurus is artist and within that is music, so oh yeah, I definitely think like I think of Libra as like the airy painter, and like Taurus would be like playing a drum or like something very like grounded. I don't know.
JordanI usually picture it the other way around. Like I picture like woodworking, like I guess anything. I do picture like Libra as like the poet and the the singer, the songwriter. Um, whereas Taurus to me is is the painter, the claymaker. I think as far as like the music too, like I would picture Libra singing and I would picture Taurus with a drum because that is like Oh, yeah.
EmberLike you feel that I see that. Yeah, love it. And then finally, our tarot card. So, Jordan, do you know what tarot cards associated with Taurus? I do. Okay, so I did not, I had to look it up for this, and it's the Here Font, which is very much about like ritual and tradition and stability and structure and values. And so I think now, knowing everything I know about Taurus after this episode, I think it makes a lot of sense. It's about honoring traditions, and I think that's something that Taurus can do very well. I think it leads into the like maybe a little bit stubbornness nature of a Taurus and really just like leaning into a spiritual and physical experience while staying true to like like what makes sense in the physical world. Like, I don't tend to think of like Taurus as people that are like up in their heads. They need to like see the facts and see and feel the things in front of them to believe it. I don't know. Do you do you agree with that, Jordan?
JordanLike, would you say that Taurus are people who need to like trust the physical, like the things in front of them, like evidence or yeah, this is um for when I first got into astrology, one of my things that I had like dedicated a lot of time to, I'm speaking quickly because I know we gotta wrap it up, but the uh was like our intuition and how intuition shows up in the birth chart. Um, and a big thing is the earth moons, especially Capricorn, but the earth moons are the ones that need like a lot of proof for things, um a lot of physical tangible proof, uh, which you know will fall in line with my Taurus moon.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it does.
What Would Taurus Do Game
EmberI was just like, okay, I believe it. I believe no, that makes a lot of sense. Okay, so I'm glad that I was like in tune with that. Oh, so cool. All right, Jordan, you ready for our game? I am, I'm very excited. So our game, if you haven't listened to the Aries episode, is what would Taurus do in this scenario? And so you ready?
JordanYes, I'm ready.
EmberYou just got a big bonus in your paycheck.
JordanOh, well, the first thing that's coming to mind is go thrift shopping or go to like the melting pot, like some fancy restaurant that you don't get to go to all the time.
SPEAKER_01You pick the melting pot as a fancy restaurant.
SPEAKER_00Is it not? Not like a steakhouse. I guess you wouldn't say a steakhouse, to be fair. Okay. Jordan is vegetarian, so that makes sense. Um I'm just like the melting pot.
SPEAKER_01Okay. The Jane restaurant. The Cheesecake Factory. Yeah, yeah. Cheesecake Factory.
JordanI would say that. That would have been that's where I went after my interview.
SPEAKER_00I feel like I haven't laughed this much in an episode in a while. This has been great. I know.
EmberI think it's your BFF cancels your plans last minute for the second time this week.
JordanOh, I praise the Lord and I get Netflix on.
EmberI agree with that completely.
unknownYeah.
EmberUm, you have your first day off in six days. What does a Taurus do?
JordanSo my my immediate like funny reaction is like, does nothing. Like again, pulls up Netflix, but pulls up Netflix. This would be like a like another one that came right to mind was like, this is my day to bake bread. Like now I have the time to wait for bread to do its bread thing.
unknownI love that.
EmberBread to do its bread thing. Um your friend is over and they want to go out, but you're really comfy.
JordanUm, I think Taurus. I want to say Taurus might try to like convince everyone to stay with like what about like we could watch this movie. I have ice cream. Like, there's we could play a game here, like just kind of like trying to like entice everyone else to stay there too.
EmberOh yeah, I like that. I can see that. All right, this is the last one, okay? You're really mad at your partner because they forgot to make dinner when they said they would.
JordanI think Taurus would like not be mad, but like get that kind of like like frustration of like, well now I don't know what to do without my dinner right now. And like, I'm not mad at you, but like I don't know what to do. That's what I would picture Taurus doing.
EmberWould a Taurus get hangry?
JordanYeah, that would be the bull coming through, I think. But also again, because of the whole Venice uh Venus thing, like not really wanting to like start conflict. So I I think again, that whole like, I'm not mad at you, but I'm just frustrated.
SPEAKER_01Really disappointed. I just I just fun Jordan.
JordanI know. This was great. This is a really good episode. Where do you feel like, like, where do you stand with Taurus now, now that we've talked all about it?
Reflections And Next Topic Teaser
EmberI it's really funny because a lot of the things we described feel very true. Again, I don't mean to make this about me, but like true to me. And I think you're right. I think it's the Venusian energy coming through because I don't have Taurus placement. Um, and like we've talked about it's in my eighth house, which feels it's like one of the hidden houses and feels a little bit abstract to me in that way. So I I think like I just I don't know, I just like love a Taurus. I I have one of my dance friends, I think of her, she is like such a classic Taurus, and I love her so much. Her name is Ivory Noir, if you want to follow her on Instagram, but she is like your classic Taurus son, like just out there and like so cozy and just huggy, and I love her so much. Whether you're just beginning your journey with astrology, starting to utilize it as a tool in your craft, or just curious about the universe. We are so happy you were here to join us today to learn all about Taurus.
JordanYes, and if you have any comments or questions, we love hearing from you and are loving this process of building our little community of astrology students. Everything that we do is all linked in the show notes. We hope you enjoy talking about Taurus as much as we did. Obviously, we had a great time. I hope so. Like my face hurts from laughing. I know. Next time, I am going to interview Ember all about her burlesque journey, how she connects it with her spirituality, and then me being me, I'm gonna connect it to her chart as well. Oh my god, I love that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you can see.
EmberIf you're on the YouTube, you can see my little burlesque. You can see my eyebrows. You can see my eyebrows, but you can also see my sexy burlesque banner behind me, which I love. An artist made it for me.
JordanThis podcast is my practice of asking big questions, uncovering the hidden truths, and creating an accessible space for others to do the same.
EmberAnd I'm so grateful to be learning alongside Jordan and all of you, sharing our resources and diving into what it means to connect with the cosmos. Thank you so much for being part of this, and we will see you back in the study room every other Tuesday.
