Have you ever looked around and felt like everyone else was moving forward while you were standing still?
In this episode of Outside the Script, I'm sharing what I'm learning about the quiet seasons of life the ones where it feels like nothing is happening, but everything is changing beneath the surface. Inspired by the wisdom of nature, we explore why growth isn't always visible, why our dreams don't have to happen on our timeline, and how trusting the process can be one of the hardest yet most transformative lessons.
If you've been feeling behind, discouraged, or questioning where you're headed, this conversation is a reminder that roots always grow before flowers bloom.
Sometimes the season that feels the slowest is the one preparing you for everything you've been asking for.
If this episode resonates with you, I'd love for you to share it with someone who needs the reminder that they are not behind...they're becoming.
Hello, and welcome back to Outside the Script. Happy Wednesday, everyone. I'm so grateful to be here with you. And so today I want to talk about seasons, not just the seasons outside of us, like the weather, the cycles of nature, but the seasons we move through internally, the seasons where we're growing, questioning, rebuilding, healing, and becoming something new. Even when it doesn't look like anything's happening from the outside, I think sometimes those are the hardest seasons because we live in a world that celebrates visible progress, the accomplishments, the house, the car, the finished products, the milestones, the things that we can point and say, look, they did it, I did it. But what about the seasons where the biggest work is happening underneath the surface? What about the seasons where we are planting roots? So I've been sitting with this, you know, the feelings and all the dreams inside of me, the ideas, the visions, the things I want to create, and also feeling the reality of life, the reality that sometimes there isn't an endless time. Sometimes, you know, I'm we're caring for other people. I'm caring for other people, little humans, I'm tired, we're we're carrying responsibilities that nobody else sees. And I feel like so much of the work of a mother or the matriarch of the family is a lot of invisible work. And it can be easy to overlook our dreams and wonder like, why hasn't this happened yet? Why am I not further along? Am I wasting time? But I'm learning something important is uh a dream can't always grow through pressure. And I've talked about this many times, and it's one of my biggest lessons. Sometimes we think we need to push harder, force more, do more, and we'll finally arrive. But you know, nature doesn't work that way. A flower doesn't not blossom faster because we are impatient, a tree doesn't grow taller because we stand next to it and ask, why haven't you changed? You know, growth happens on its own time. Like nature has so much to teach us, you know. Even think of like a seed, a seed spends so much time hiding underground. And so from the outside, it looks like nothing's happening, but underneath there is true transformation. Roots are forming, strength is building, and the foundation is being created. And maybe humans are the same way. So maybe there are seasons in our lives where we feel buried, but we're actually being rooted. Maybe the quiet seasons aren't empty seasons, maybe they're just preparation. And maybe the things we think um are slowing us down or actually helping us become the person we that um who can hold the dream when it finally arrives. And I think one of the hardest lesson lessons in life is like just trusting timing because we all have a vision of how we think things short unfold. We create a timeline, we create expectations, we decide when we should have it arrived. But you know what? Life has its own wisdom, and I think that it's bigger than our own plans. What do they say? God laughs at plans, and I'm learning to trust what is meant for me will find me. And I've just really been holding that really dear to my heart. And it's not because I've like stopped trying or I'm gonna stop showing up, but because I stop, I'm stopping, I'm I'm choosing to stop believing that everything has to come through force. There's a difference between taking, I feel like, inspired action, like inspired action and constantly living in a feeling that we are behind. One comes from trust, the other comes from fear. And so I'm really choosing just to sit and trust. And some of the questions I've been asking myself lately, what if this season isn't holding me back? What if it's preparing me? What if the slower moments are teaching me patience? What if the challenges are teaching me compassion? What if the waiting is teaching me how to appreciate the arrival? Because maybe the goal isn't to reach the dream, maybe the goal is to become the person who is ready for it. So if you're listening to this and you feel like you're in a season of in-between, I hope that you'll remember this. Just because you cannot see growth doesn't mean it isn't happening. Roots are grown before the flower appears, the foundation is being built before the structure can stand. You are not behind, you are becoming. And so thank you for being here with me today. And that's all I'm gonna say today. I'm so grateful for you. I love you, and until next time, keep listening, keep growing, and trust in the season you are in.
