Dr Sheila Patel, Child Psychologist

Dr. Shila Patel was born in Kenya and completed her medical training in Scotland and England before moving to the United States at age 26. A licensed psychiatrist for over 25 years, she has worked extensively with both children and adults. During the pandemic, witnessing a sharp rise in mental health challenges, she authored three books, Us, US Unhinged, and US Fractured, to encourage self-awareness, personal responsibility, and healing. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to creating positive change and leaving a meaningful legacy for future generations.

Rates of ADHD diagnosis in children have increased significantly over the past decades in many countries. For example, surveys in the U.S. showed around 11 % of children have received an ADHD diagnosis, up from lower rates in earlier years.
