Hey besties.
SPEAKER_03I didn't have my remote in my hand. You're the microphone. It's a microphone. Let's try it again. Three, two, one. Hey besties. I'm McKinley. I'm Danielle.
SPEAKER_00Can we keep that in? Yes, we can keep that in.
SPEAKER_03I'll touch you, I got to keep my remote.
SPEAKER_00Guys, I have an announcement. Drum roll. I have been a mother for a full year now. This is so bittersweet, though. I have a one-year-old. One year down.
SPEAKER_03I have a one-year-old. This is insane. It is so weird because the days, like you really understand once like one year, and then every year after what? No. We haven't hit a year yet.
SPEAKER_00But in three weeks. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Was it in three weeks? That's when we started filming.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's when we started filming. We started posting like June 17th?
SPEAKER_03I think it's just 16th or 17th. I don't know the exact time. Oh my gosh, we're like a month away from years. Oh my gosh. What are we gonna do for a recap? Any ideas? What how should we celebrate one year of Dash of Pink?
SPEAKER_00How many brands have like pink things? We should just like how many like hey, hey, hey!
SPEAKER_03Sponsor us. Let's just figure this out. Okay. Um Haydn's one. Hayden's one. How do you feel having a one-year-old and having your first year of motherhood under your belt?
SPEAKER_00Honestly, a lot. Like, I thought I was gonna be a lot more sad. I am sad, but it's more like a like, we did it. Like, yeah. I don't know. I feel like I it's so hard looking forward to it because it's like, oh, but I'm gonna miss this phase. But like you don't ever realize how fun the next phase is gonna be. And so I'm like, I'm so sad she's won. But she is so fun last night. Like, for example, Ty and I, you know when you like get like the giggle spurts randomly. Oh, yeah. Ty at like one o'clock in the morning. We got like the giggle spurts, whatever. And Hayden was laying in bed next to us. And I think I was like, oh, I kept like putting my heel on Ty's leg, and he's so ticklish, and he hates being tickled. That's hilarious. And so we were laughing, and then all of a sudden I feel movement and I look over, and Hayden's just sitting up, staring at us like You woke me. And then she just starts giggling and like playing with us. So it was so cute. But like, so I thought I was gonna be more sad, but then I obviously didn't know how fun this phase would be. It's different, it's a different type of motherhood. So I'm like sad, but in a way that's like, no, this is beautiful and this is amazing, and I love this. So toddlers are I feel good. I feel good. I feel good.
SPEAKER_03Toddlers are so fun. I'm so that's what's so interesting, is like each phase is so different with motherhood, but like they it somehow keeps getting better, but you still miss it. It's the weirdest thing. It's so weird. Was I emotional at all?
SPEAKER_00Um not like like a like woman emotional. He was like just like watching the videos, and I don't know. It was kind of almost like the best way I can describe it is like he was thinking about it more.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was very intentional.
SPEAKER_00He thinks about it, but he was really like, Whoa, we like have these videos that we can show her every birthday, and like wow, this went so fast, and I can't believe she was that like it was like he could almost rewatch the beginning.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's why I think for Ty that like counts as emotional because he doesn't get like teary-eyed emotional.
SPEAKER_03That's so fun. Oh my head, yeah. I cannot believe it.
SPEAKER_00So crazy.
SPEAKER_03She's look like I haven't seen her in a minute. Like, I it's been a while since I've played with her and stuff, and she looks more like a toddler. She looks like a toddler. She looks like a little toddler. Her cheeks are slowly they're deflating. Slowly.
SPEAKER_00Her thighs are not.
SPEAKER_03Uh those are still got a chunky thighs. Nothing cuter than little chunky thighs in the summer. I love it. I love it. Okay. Birthday. I have I went through all the pictures, all the things, all the videos. You had me in tears with the one. Oh, yeah. But I'm like, listen, McKinley. Listen, we need the details. Like, we want tell why you did the theme you did. Like, give us a rundown of what you did on her birthday, all the things.
SPEAKER_00Well, on her birthday was different than her birthday party. So on her birthday, we did the beginning of the day, just the three of us, because I wanted to just like really soak it in. Um, we did 24 presents in 24 hours.
SPEAKER_02That is such a good idea.
SPEAKER_00Um, Ty and I actually decided we're gonna do it for all of our kids, but like the older they get, do more like, okay, you're not just gonna get toys. What do you need? You need new clothes because birthdays I feel like are a great time to like socks, underwear. Get new clothes, right? I always use like gifted holidays as a time to get new things. Like Christmas, I always get tiny socks. Yes.
unknownI do.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, on birthdays, we'll do 24 gifts in 24 hours. We're like, we're gonna do the Christmas thing, the what you want, what you need, what you wear, what you read. Yeah. And just multiple in other categories. That's such a good idea. We'll do that because I kind of feel like for kids, it's like you spend the whole day being like, okay, I'm gonna open presents, and then you have 15 minutes of opening presents, and then it's kind of like, oh, like kind of a letdown. It's like what all the excitement for a quick minute, and then it's like Yeah, but it's like, okay, we're gonna set a timer, an hour timer for the next one. Like we did that for Ty's birthday, and he's like, No, that was so fun. That is so fun. So that's a tradition we're gonna start. So we did that the night before, was definitely more emotional, but we set up her toys, and something I think I will always do is I took all of her stuffed animals and put party hats on them, so like all of her friends came to her party.
SPEAKER_02It was so cute. Was she excited? She was so excited.
SPEAKER_03See, I love creating that type of stuff. Yeah, like that's core memory, like so funny. And I'm like, I know she's not gonna memory, but I am. It's weirdly emotional seeing all the stuffed animals with the party hats. It is. I literally just involved. It's almost like a toy story moment.
SPEAKER_00Like oh my gosh, yes. I saw actually someone on TikTok do that when their kid was graduating. Um, they line up the toys with like pictures of them through like all of their years. Anyway, not gonna talk about that because I am not ready to think about that. Um so we did that, and then on her actual birthday, we ate pancakes because she loves she loves fruit pancakes. We did raspberry pancakes. We just do pancakes with fruit.
SPEAKER_03Do you just like throw them in as you're cooking them when you're in the battery or do you mix them in?
SPEAKER_00Um, so it was frozen raspberry, so like they kind of like chunked apart. So it really like flavored it more than anything.
SPEAKER_03I love frozen raspberries, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So she loved it. We had that, and then we got well, she had to take a nap, and then we were like, she loves animals. Yeah, she loves animals, she already knows a ton of animals. She's so stinky. She's so cute. Um, so we have like a stuffed um like taxidermy animal museum here, kind of like the bean museum. Yeah, um is that what it's called anymore? It was called the Bean Museum when I was little.
SPEAKER_03I think it's still called that. It's just like the BYU.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I don't even know why it's it called the Bean Museum. I don't know. I don't know, but you can go there. I think you can go there. I for we always used to do field trips there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That was the weirdest field trip.
SPEAKER_00So we have like a small version of that here, which is actually really freaking cool. Like, next time you're here with all your kids, we should go.
SPEAKER_02Let's do it.
SPEAKER_00Do you love it?
SPEAKER_02Or do you pay for it?
SPEAKER_00It was like maybe $13 for all three of us. It was not bad.
SPEAKER_03That's not bad at all.
SPEAKER_00I feel like maybe I could be wrong because I didn't pay for it. Anyway.
SPEAKER_03Don't quote her on that price.
SPEAKER_00Ask Ty. Um, so we went to that and then we went to the pet store after, which we had Chick-fil-A because she loves French fries. She loves French fries, and we got a sick. She doesn't love french fries. Right. Those were her favorite food right now. Favorite food. Food. Did you say fruit? No. I might have said fruit, but might have cut out R in there. She's so cute. So we went to the pet store and Ty wanted me to buy a dog. I did not buy a dog because we just bred our cat, and so she's gonna have kittens soon.
SPEAKER_03Wait, tell them what kind of dog you were holding. A cockoo. There's that's like the dog that I would love.
SPEAKER_00He was like the most chill, like the like the uh the pet store was like the guy working, was like, yeah, this is as crazy as he gets, and he like was not even crazy.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's so fun.
SPEAKER_00He's so sweet. His name was Maximus.
SPEAKER_03I love there's nothing cuter than a tiny little puppy that's just like excited to just play with you.
SPEAKER_00And he was so good with Hayden. I could not give a dog the right amount of attention right now. So as much as I'm like, oh, I love a dog, I would feel too guilty getting one. So we didn't get one, obviously.
SPEAKER_03So is Hayden like gentle? Like, what's Hayden like when she's playing with these animals? Is she like a gentle child?
SPEAKER_00Because Piper would probably try to like attack more gentle, but before it was like she wanted to just grab and pinch. Yes. Now she'll like pet for a second before she tries to like hug them. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Um she's gotten better.
SPEAKER_03That's so fun because Piper is at this phase where she's like adapted Rayla's love aggression, but like can't stop the love aggression. So she'll literally grab my face lately and like start kissing my chin and like literally. Raylan does that too. I'm like, dude, where did this come from? Like, you have never been like, and then I'll latch or something. Like, and almost like devour you, like and stay there for so long. Like, and I'm like, where is this coming from? Is it because I'm pregnant, but she doesn't do it to Riley. It could be only me. I'm like, what is happening? She'll like shake and just hold it for so long.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like, I love it. I love it.
SPEAKER_03I love when a little kid just is so infatuated with something and loves something so much that they like don't know what to do. They just shake. Yes.
SPEAKER_00I love it. Like, so fluffy, I'm gonna die. Yes, I love it. And anyway, after the tart store, no, you're good. I'm like, I I I know I was the one who was talking, but what am I talking about? Oh, yeah, pet store. So then we went and had dinner, and it was Costco chicken because she loves Costco chicken, rotisserie chicken, and French fries. Hey, and cuties.
SPEAKER_02She loves cuties. She's down those this morning.
SPEAKER_00She also loves rice. She loves rice. Um, and then we had her cake, and it was great. And we did presents. Did you make that? It looks so good. Yeah, I made her two cakes. Cute little one. Yeah. And then her actual thank you. I'm working on it. Um, and then her actual birthday party. Um we did Metallica theme. So it was Metallica one theme. If you have not seen the pictures, go on my Instagram. We made like custom shirts.
SPEAKER_02Tutu.
SPEAKER_00So cute.
SPEAKER_02Oh, her little black tutu.
SPEAKER_00The black tutu was like amazing. Like that way, you made the pictures. And we had like guitars behind her. It was so cute. You pulled it off good. She loves music. Like we went to my sister's choir concert the other day, and there were there was a band that started playing, and she saw them bringing out guitars and was like, No, she's so cute.
SPEAKER_03She's a little rocker, she was a little rocker baby. You need to get her in like little guitar lessons or something. Yes.
SPEAKER_00I actually, as soon as she can figure it out, Savannah's gonna teach her how to play guitar. She doesn't know she's going to. Um, but then we had cake, whatever. She actually ate too much cake and puked up that last that night, but she was good right after. She was giggling and trying to play in it. That's so fun. And the cake? Or the puke. In the puke. Okay. Um, she did play in the cake. She loved the cake. I was gonna say. I don't know if I'm gonna do that again because I had to talk to a lot of people, and that's hard.
SPEAKER_03It's exhausting.
SPEAKER_00So I went up tomorrow after I was like, hey, can we agree that like until they're old enough to say they don't want it? Can Abby and Haiti just share birthday parties? And she's like, yes.
SPEAKER_03And we already have next year's planned. So that's so nice. Well, then it takes kind of the pressure off a little bit. It's hard too because you want to enjoy the party and you want to focus on the baby, but then there's like you're hosting, so you're like entertaining.
SPEAKER_00Well, and the other hard thing is we have people that were there that like don't see her very often and were like expecting this like moment. She wants to play with me and whatever, and she wanted nothing to do with them, and then they were like, Oh, well, what's wrong? I'm like, She just doesn't want to see you. Like, no, she wants to play. Like, there were some people that she does kind of know. Like my grandma, for example, she gets really confused around her because she looks like my mom. She gets the same way with my mom's older sister.
SPEAKER_03Like, really, she'll like kind of be like she almost sees the resemblance and is kind of like, Wait, how it like kind of how does this work?
SPEAKER_00It freaks her out, but it confuses her, and you can see like the gears turning in her.
SPEAKER_03So interesting.
SPEAKER_00Um, but there are other people that they were like trying to get her to play with them, and she didn't really want anything to do with them, and then they were like, Oh, well, what's wrong? I'm like, She's just sorry, like I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_03She's not in the moon. Yeah, it's hard.
SPEAKER_00So it was just a lot, like it was great. I'm not saying it's bad, but I don't think I will do other birthday parties like that until she's old enough to say, Oh, I want a birthday. Yes, you know.
SPEAKER_03Oh, for sure.
SPEAKER_00I just don't really want to share like that.
SPEAKER_03No, my kids are like more excited for like friend birthday parties and like those types of things. Like, not even birthday parties, like doing things on their birthday. Like Piper dead set she's going to the pool on her birthday this year. It's on a Sunday, so we will be celebrating her birthday on Monday.
SPEAKER_00See, I could see like doing a birthday party somewhere like that, like texting family, hey, we're gonna be here on this day for whatever.
SPEAKER_03That's kind of what I was thinking. Just send a text, be like, we're going to the pool. If you want to meet us here, great, I'll bring cupcakes, but like we're probably not gonna do a party.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like I told people I'm like, you're not, I'm not feeding you dinner, so you can have cake. But there's my other problem. I love parties, like I love to do stuff like that. And I love decorating deal with people, yeah. I love decorating, I love party planning, but like the only parties that I've ever been able to be like, yeah, are good, were like that were for me, was like my book parties. But then, like, not a lot of people showed up to those anyway. So I was like not having to worry about what people were doing. But like when they were talking to me, it wasn't like small talk, it was like, Oh, let's talk about your book. And that's easy, yeah. That's easy to do. But my like one of my favorite parties I've ever planned was my mom Shrek themed surprise party.
SPEAKER_03It was not there. I wish I was so bad. I think we need to read you because that was so fun. The fact that it was like theme, everyone dressed up, like that's so fun. It was so fun. I love a good party. So that's the thing, because I well, and I was just I was just telling you, I'm like, I want to do more parties. I love that stuff, and that stuff is so fun for me, and it's fueling, but the actual party itself is so drainy.
SPEAKER_00Like, I don't know what it is, it just takes it out of you, and it's like so fun, but like the actual having people there and having to react to all the presents, like because you almost kind of have to because they're not big enough too.
SPEAKER_03And then when they are big enough, this is fun. When they are big enough, you're like, make sure you say thank you. Like trying to like, or if they already have it, don't say anything. Like it's so hard to like manage all the things.
SPEAKER_00I know there was one present that she already got, and luckily, like Ty didn't say anything, and he was like, Luckily, you didn't say anything, because we were just like silent, and we're like, Yeah, cute, and then hurry and move on to the next thing. So we actually got two things that she already had, but we left one of them at my parents' house because we're like, hey, she'll play with it here too. Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Or never mind. What I was gonna say, just return it and get something. Like, if they don't know, I've done that before, is like if we got duplicates, I will just take it back to like either Walmart or Target if I can do like a reverse search see where it's from and let them pick out something else.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but we're also like at my parents' house, like three times a week. No, literally. So I'm like, yeah, we'll just leave it here.
SPEAKER_03Why not? No need to go, and they're gonna have so many grandkids, why not? That's so fun. Yeah, so fun. So the birthday party, not doing it again. So will you like because you had so much fun doing the theme and like decorating stuff. Are you still gonna do that for like your little family? Like, what's your plan there? Because that's where I'm like, I want to still do all those fun things.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, see, the thing for the birthday party is the only decorating I did was behind the high chair. There wasn't decorating anywhere else because I was like, this is what matters. Yeah. So I think I could do that, especially if it's like, okay, if she one day decides that she loves princesses, her whole birthday can be princess themed without having to invite everybody over there.
SPEAKER_03You can be like princess paper, yeah, you can that kind of thing. That's so fun.
SPEAKER_00And get her a princess outfit without having to have everyone invite a bunch of people. And maybe that's selfish. I know that's selfish to be like, oh, I don't want to share her birthday with people, but like I don't really.
SPEAKER_03I don't, even if you didn't want to share it with them, if they really wanted to come, they could be like, hey, are you doing anything for their birthday? I have a little gifter I would love to stop by and see her and celebrate her birthday. Yeah. Then you know that they want to be there. Because I do feel like sometimes we send these texts out and we're like, hey, we're doing a birthday party. Like, if you can't make it, it's totally fine. You just want to know you're invited. But it's like, do they even want to be there? You know what I mean? Like maybe they do, but like it doesn't really feel like it sometimes. It feels like more like an obligation. Right. And that's again, like, I know. Is this lounge back? I don't know. What is happening?
SPEAKER_04It is better.
SPEAKER_03And I'm like, okay, so birthday parties. I was doing the same thing. I'm like, I looked in the thing and I'm like, I have a double chin right now. No, I kept like trying to my hair. I did heatless curls and it's kinked on this side and it's buggy.
SPEAKER_00I did three-day old curls.
SPEAKER_03Those are three day. Yeah, I hate so in the nicest way possible.
SPEAKER_00I hate you a little bit. I hate you. I did like three rolls of touching it up.
SPEAKER_03That's impressive. I'm impressed by your skills. Thank you. My hair doesn't hold curl that well.
SPEAKER_00I will say though, like again, I am totally fine with doing the parties again if like Abby and Haiti can do like together. Because then it's less pressure of like one. One and well, and even if you do them together, you might not even have to open the presents at the same time.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, can we just take this?
SPEAKER_03That's kind of the worst part. Why is it the worst part? Like, I'm so grateful. Like, I'm so grateful, and they're so fun, but it's also like there's so much going on. Like, everyone's like watching, and it also just kind of feels like I don't know. Like, I don't want anything to do.
SPEAKER_00That is why I will never do a baby shower ever again. Ever again. Nothing worse than sitting there for sitting. I want to throw you a baby shower. Be part of the present opening.
SPEAKER_03That was smart. That was smart. I love that you guys did that together, actually. I really liked that.
SPEAKER_00I would Oh, you did that for the bridal shower too. I was like, no way am I doing this by myself.
SPEAKER_03That's so funny. Okay, I was actually, I was having a moment, I have to tell you. I was having a moment because I was like, I hate how I look right now. And a video popped up of me at your baby shower, like guessing which gender you were having. And I was like, hmm, I wish I wasn't pregnant right now. I look so different. It was literally like, we have swapped places. Oh my gosh. We seriously have.
SPEAKER_00I feel like, and here's the hard thing. Guys, listen, here's the hard thing. McKinley's gonna get hot and get a boob job. And you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna get pregnant, and then I'm gonna get better, and then I'm gonna get pregnant, and then I'm gonna get better, and then I'm gonna get pregnant, and then I can get a boob job.
SPEAKER_03But listen, I'm just gonna be hot. Because I'm done. I'm done having babies. I've had my hot naught nah hot naught. We're in a very knot right now, and we are very self-conscious.
SPEAKER_00I would love to be a sexy freaking pregnant lady.
SPEAKER_03I fear I don't think I am. No, it's so hard. And you know what? I look back at pictures and I'm like, it really wasn't that bad. But like in the moment, I look in the mirror and I'm like, who who is that?
SPEAKER_00Um instead, Tyne looked back at pictures and say, I didn't think you were that. Literally, we were watching the birth vlog, and Ty's like, you know, I didn't think you were that puffy then.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, Riley told me the other day, because I kind of there's like the weird face where you like are like semi-pregnant and it's like kind of cute. And then there's the like, you're pregnant, but like not cute pregnant, like you're just kind of like fluffy. Yeah. I feel like I'm fluffy right now. If I hold a certain way, then I can look like cute pregnant. And Riley's like, I just love you when you're pregnant. You look so good. And I'm like, mmm.
SPEAKER_00You're like, you guys are deceiving you. You went and Googled what to say to your pregnant wife to make her feel good.
SPEAKER_03My wife has been standing in the mirror for a long time.
SPEAKER_00He's like, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh. Here comes a manic episode. Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_03It's so weird. It's so weird. But no, don't plan on. You're having wait, how many times did you say you're gonna have babies? How many babies are you having? Three more times. I thought you said it more times than that. I was gonna say, wait, hold on. Has there been a shift?
SPEAKER_00I think my body will break.
SPEAKER_03Can I ask you a question?
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_03Did you get any questions at Hayden's birthday about when you were in the next one? Did you really like why? Why is that a thing? Like, I'm not sure. I just looked at people and said, don't even ask me that.
SPEAKER_00You're like, it's just I'm like, nope. We are not doing that. We are not doing that. We will be having no more commentary. No. Well, my thing about that, totally side tangent. I feel like, like, what if you say that to someone who has been trying for like months and months and months, and you don't know that you just triggered, like what like you don't know. You don't know what someone is going through. You don't know what someone's going through behind the scenes. And so when you're like, oh, so it's about time. There's a difference between like someone like my mom joking about it, who I'm close to, yeah, and like someone I see every like half year.
SPEAKER_03Well, like like extended family, like the random uncle type vibe. Like the random.
SPEAKER_00There is this one couple in my family that like they're always yes. No, I see them like every six months, and they are always the ones. They were always the ones who point out how fat I was. I and they're you're telling me who this is. Oh, I okay, I'll tell you later. But like they were always the ones who would be like, Danielle's here who looks like a beach whale, which like not actually, but like they'd be like, Wait, they didn't actually say that, or they did. No, they didn't actually say that. But they would say stuff like, Wow, you just keep getting bigger and bigger every time you're gonna be. Yeah. That's mean. Me heavily pregnant before when I was like five. No, hold on. Oh, I would have crashed four months pregnant, heavily pregnant. Shut up. Heavily pregnant.
SPEAKER_03Heavily pregnant. What is the definition? If you call a woman anything heavily, I think that's a problem. Heavily pregnant. What's the difference between pregnant and heavily pregnant? That's so awful.
SPEAKER_00And it's both people to look at me when I was like, You were so small. Like you were so small until like the last month.
SPEAKER_03Genuinely. Okay, but like you weren't like a big pregnant lady. You just got a little bit swollen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Like you weren't, like you were little, but even like seeing the birth vlog, like, yes, I was big, but like I see videos of women like who were like all the way out here. I'm like, I don't think I ever got I just got like puffy. You were like cute. I couldn't like lean forward. Like there were really women who were out here couldn't like lean forward. I could not lean forward because it was so jammed in my ribs.
SPEAKER_02Like well, I feel like Hayden was really high. Hayden was very high. She was really high.
SPEAKER_03This baby is low. I'm low. Yeah. Uh-huh. So I'm a little nervous. Isn't that like how boys are though? Yeah, I mean, I think so. But like, I think so. Yeah. But my girls dropped, excuse me, my girls dropped earlier. Did she like drop? So like you ever felt like the space? Have you ever heard of it?
SPEAKER_00That's the weirdest feeling when they drop and you're like, oh, and then all of a sudden you have although I didn't have a lot of squishiness because I had a lot of access fluid. So I was always like Ty would like poke my stomach and be like, Are you like having bracts and hicks?
SPEAKER_03I'm like, no. That's crazy. That's crazy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It is so weird to talk about being pregnant when I've been pregnant once in my life, and the fact that I'm gonna do that again is weird.
SPEAKER_03Like it's almost like a daunting. Like that's weird.
SPEAKER_00Not even daunting. It's like, wait, hold on. I was actually pregnant at one point. Yes.
SPEAKER_03That is weird.
SPEAKER_00Like today when you're like the baby kicked out, like, whoa, I forgot that happened. Oh my gosh, you're pregnant, dude.
SPEAKER_03It's kind of like throws you off in a minute, but then I know I'm gonna miss that so much. Oh, yeah, I'm gonna miss that. That's definitely the thing that I'm gonna miss the most.
SPEAKER_00But phantom kicks scare the crap out of me, man.
SPEAKER_03Why is my body doing that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's just even if it's gas or whatever the crap it is.
SPEAKER_03My doctor told me. No what?
SPEAKER_00At the hospital, they're like, Kate, you're gonna feel phantom kicks. It's just your organs moving because your body's aware now. Aware of what? Aware of what? What were you aware of?
SPEAKER_03And what do you mean my organs are moving that much? Like, no, but have you ever watched one of those videos that it's like this is what your body does? Like it starts at pregnancy and it you watch your organs all move. Oh, yeah. Yes, and then have you ever watched them go back though? I had never watched them go back. Like I've always watched like the pregnancy.
SPEAKER_00Well, they literally have to like rearrange themselves.
SPEAKER_03That's stinking weird. Like, if you actually think about like your organs having to rearrange themselves, because like there's nothing there anymore. Like it's a whole thing.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I could be crazy saying this. You know what's weird? What? I always assume that they're like your body's like full of fluid, right? Yeah. When Mara was talking about getting her ectopic, like her ectopic pregnancy and getting her tube removed, she's like, Yeah, well, they had to pump me with like air at first, like it move stuff around. She's like, So like they can leave air in there. And I'm like, hold on, hold on. Is there air in there all the time? And she's like, I don't know. Maybe I'm like, look it up. Your organs can just be like sitting in you. Like, you don't have you're not full of fluid in there. You're just Yeah, they're just there. They're just there, they're not surrounded by blood. They're your blood's in your tissue. Yeah, your organs are just sh like sitting there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that is weird to think about. Yeah. That is weird to think about, especially after you have a baby, because like what do you what's holding them in place? Right, that's why you're so squishy is that's just weird, actually. Ew. If you think about, I saw I never thought about because you know the placenta comes out. Like the size of the placenta is like the size of your wound, right? A wound that big, like if you actually think about it, it's like what the what the what do you mean? Insane. Like, but we're fully expected to return to work and all of the things, all the things six weeks later. Yeah, like no physical therapy, no, no mental check-ins. No, which is very necessary for a mother. I don't know. Oh, we're we're talking about the magic of motherhood and creating child. You have hair in your organs. You guys, we were supposed to do like a whole recap on Diddy.
SPEAKER_0026 minutes in this video. No, wait, we talked about Aiden's birthday though. We did the main thing. We did, and then we somehow got talking about how your organs are just in there.
SPEAKER_03Setting my mic down, my hair is driving me absolutely nuts though. Sorry, I gotta, I gotta do something. We're gonna leave it like that. Okay, here we go. We're good. I just had to drink water, so listen, listen. Let me pull out our outline since we were here. So we wanted to talk about moms creating magic and like why we either feel the pressure of it, like what that looks like, how we want to create magic, all of the things. The first question was why do we think moms feel like the pressure of having to create magic? What would you say?
SPEAKER_00I personally have the pressure. Like, my reason is, oh my gosh, why was that so like frightening? Invasive. And yeah, geez uh. Anyway, I feel like my pressure is on myself because I'm like, I'm gonna miss this one day. I want this experience, I want this magic. That's why I have the pressure, is because I'm like, I'm gonna miss this. I'm gonna regret it. Don't yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I kind of asked, and I was like, I personally feel like I love recreating, like and trying to make magic that I felt growing up. Like almost like what I remember my little childhood being like, and like yes, like it's almost like, oh, I loved feeling this type of a way on my birthday. Like, how can I make my kids feel that?
SPEAKER_00Question though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Do you ever have a hard time with like Riley's traditions? Like, because it's not what you grew up with.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so kind of, but only when they like mess up overlap and when they over that mess up what mine was. So, for example, like so he brought a tradition that I had never even heard of. The New Year's Elf. Do you guys do that? No, but I saw you. Yes, okay. That's a tradition. It's so fun. It's like so fun. That's a tradition that Riley brought. And Riley, I'm not saying his family didn't really have traditions, but like I feel like I brought way more traditions to the table than he did. Like his things were slightly different. But I also don't know if that's just because he's a man. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I wonder the same thing. Because like I asked Time, like, what traditions do you want to bring with our kids? And he's like, none.
SPEAKER_03Kevin, I'm like, I'm not saying Riley's mom wasn't a good mom because she wasn't raised mom, like she raised him very well. I think my mom was just like an extra mom that went above and beyond in a lot of ways that I'm like, I want to make sure my kids do some of those things. So what one thing that and I actually don't know if I think it might have came from his dad because if you guys don't do it, I almost wonder. The elf? The New Year's Elf, yes. I think it came from Riley's dad. So Riley's um family did the New Year's Elf, and on New Year's Eve, you put out your favorite pair of shoes, like whatever ones were your most favorite. You put them by the front door, and the New Year's Elf brings your favorite treat and your favorite drink, and like just puts them in the shoes. My kids love it, it's so fun, and it's such like a simple, easy tradition. Like it's not a whole ton of plenty, like not a whole ton, literally your favorite treat or drink. And we always like we don't give our kids a ton of soda, but like perhaps if you have children listening to this episode, put in headphones. Yes, headphones, headphones. The the New Year's Elf can bring more sugary drinks. Like it can do, like it's a kind of a time that they like get spoiled with the things they don't always get all the time. So I love that one. I'm trying to think of one that is kind of like, oh, I will say one tradition that I've had a really hard time with. Maybe if you're having kids, um don't listen to this part, but I'll be really careful. So Santa at my house always did separate areas for the kids. So, like, and they were set up, and so like I would have a spot, my brother Brandon would have a spot, and it was always on the couch, and we had most of our stuff laid out, like our big stuff laid out and not wrapped. And Riley Santa always had everything wrapped and under the tree. Okay. And so, but my family would have like our parents would, my parents would put what gifts they had for us under the tree, but it was always my parents always only had like clothes, like restock on those stuff wrapped. Part of me thinks it's because we had a lot of children at our house. My mom, my mom was like, we are wrapping only a certain amount of things. So for a while I had a hard time, but then I realized like my kids love unwrapping. So we have requested that Santa does wrap everything. Right. Except for like the big, big thing, like what if there's something too big to wrap. Um, but what we've decided is we combined it and we did each child has their own wrapping paper. So like we kind of had to like switch it a little bit. But for a minute, I was like, no, we gotta lay it out. Like, really? That was hard, but that was one that I and then I was like, wait, why? Right. You're like, it's so funny, but I'm trying to think if there's anything else.
SPEAKER_00I seriously try to think, but like Ty doesn't really like I asked him this year too. I'm like, Do you have any traditions you want to implement? And he's like, No, not really. Like, yeah, like I'm seriously trying to like rack my brain here. I'm like, I don't like I have lists, and he's like, That's how I am. We'll make some.
SPEAKER_03Do you feel like you traditions have always been important to you? Oh yeah, or that's what I mean. It's like I but I kind of think mine have gotten like I'm more passionate about the traditions the older that I get. There's a lot that I want to do that.
SPEAKER_00See, I'm excited about starting new traditions.
SPEAKER_03That's how I am.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Do you feel the pressure to like start it so that it becomes a tradition faster?
SPEAKER_00That's what I'm feeling right now. And also, like, no, because I only have a one-year-old.
SPEAKER_03That's true. So that's true.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know. Like the thing is, this Christmas is gonna be so much different than last Christmas. Because we're gonna do our own Christmas Eve. I forgot. And our own early Christmas morning, and then we'll go to my parents' house after our own Christmas morning.
SPEAKER_03So you'll have your own experience and then kind of join in on everything.
SPEAKER_00Like we'll do our own Christmas Eve and just let Ty's family know what we're doing. So you can be like, you can come if you want, whatever. And then because usually we sleep over, but we're like, yeah, but we're like, mmm, it's time Santa needs to come to our house.
SPEAKER_03Santa needs to go to your own house.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And that's fun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So what we're talking about traditions, what's a tradition? Because you said you want to start traditions. What's like either one you started or that you want to start?
SPEAKER_00Holiday traditions or like any? Like because we're starting the birthday tradition of watching the birth vlogs every time. Wait, I don't think you told that on here. Oh yeah. That was on another episode that's gonna come out in the future. So that was us in the past, future. Anyway, so um, because we're vloggers, every birthday eve is what we're gonna call it. Um, we're gonna watch the birth vlogs. And if they want to, we can watch like whatever birthday is leading up and it was like throughout the day. Because I think that would be really cute too, is just like have like almost like a movie night, yes, but like we just get together and watch all of the that would be. That would be so cute, especially for like me and Ty to like relive it with them, you know? Yeah, so every birthday eve, we're gonna watch the birth vlogs, and then every year we'll decide what's gonna happen. But that's a tradition I'm really excited about.
SPEAKER_03I love that. I wanna do I really kind of want to start like writing a letter to my kids on their birthday.
SPEAKER_00Do I tell you what I do? No. So I've decided that for all of my kids, I buy a journal. That's a good idea. And whenever I have like something that's like I'm thinking about them or something big happens, I'll go on the journal and be like, hey, today you like I wrote the other day, I was like, hey, Hayden, today you went up the stairs, and this is what happened, this is how it went, and this is how I'm feeling. Because I'm like, how cool would it be at like 18 years old on their birthday to hand them years worth of like my thoughts and what I went through in their childhood? Like, how cool would that be to have that would be so cool.
SPEAKER_03I just realized that I forgot to do something for Rayla that I started with Nixon with preschool. I had all of Nixon's teachers sign a book that's like, oh, the places you'll go, and I wanted to have like sports people. I'll probably just text her.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I need to remember that. Hold on.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, I do the journal thing, and all of the babies will love that.
SPEAKER_03My mom kind of did a little journal for a minute. I don't know where those went. I think she still has them.
SPEAKER_00Another thing that I do, that's another I love that tradition. I don't know if it's a tradition, but we do chat books. So every month we get all the pictures. Because I'm like, Hayden needs to be able to have physical pictures that she can look at instead of like, can I see your phone look at pictures? You know?
SPEAKER_03I actually want to start scrapbooking. But like I want to do it myself. Like I think it would be so I don't think I have time either, but I want my.
SPEAKER_00And how much is a book? Um, I think like every month it's like maybe $25 a month. Oh, those not bad at all.
SPEAKER_03And every month you get a book.
SPEAKER_00Every month.
SPEAKER_03Maybe I should look in a book.
SPEAKER_00I love chat books.
SPEAKER_03I gotta start over. I gotta eight years.
SPEAKER_00You could probably reach out to them.
SPEAKER_03Oh that so here's my thing. And we'll talk about this in another time, but I do want to start because it is fun that we can look back at all these digital memories, but like I want my kids to be able to flip through a book and see themselves and like hold it and kind of look at it. I feel like it's different than like swiping through a phone.
SPEAKER_00So we have right now 11 months worth of pictures of what about holiday ones, traditions or anything?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_03We do a birthday tradition that we do is we do breakfast in bed starting when they're three. Wait, we might start it when they're four. That's cute. And we love to do breakfast in bed. They get to choose what they want for breakfast, and then we always tell them, we're like, Do you want that? My parents never did this, but um, I did that growing up and I loved it. Like breakfast in bed was always so fun. I would always do cinnamon French toast sticks, and then as I got older, it got creeps, whatever. But um, we always say, Do you want everyone to eat in your room or do you want to eat in your room by yourself? And they so far everyone wants to eat in the room together, and so I'll just like lay a blanket on the floor and we all just like eat on the floor. It's so fun, and it's messy, and it's kind of like a little bit of a chaotic thing, but it's like, why not? Like it's one day, like that's so fun that we just have a picnic in the room.
SPEAKER_00Another birthday tradition. Yeah. Um, have you seen I can't talk. Have you seen Barbie and the 12 dancing princesses? No, yeah, you have to watch those. I'm stealing your girls to watch those, by the way.
SPEAKER_01We should do a big movie night with like Savannah, Lizzie, Avelyn, all of our show. That would be so fun.
SPEAKER_00Okay, um, but the viewers will know. On the 12 Dancing Princesses, they sing a birthday song, and it's like the today is your birthday, and we sing to let you know that you will be queen for the day, whatever you say goes. And I'm gonna sing that to all of my girls. That's so cute. Like, how cute is that?
SPEAKER_03That's so cute. I see, like, I love like it's so fun to give my kids a special day. Like, I love doing that and like thinking out all the thoughtful things like what are we having for breakfast, lunch, dinner? Like, it's like so little, but I think it means a lot to them. Yeah, especially maybe it's because we came from bigger families, but like I loved my birthday because my mom was so intentional about that. But it was like that was my day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was McKinley. Yeah, see, my family was like excessive with birthdays, so like now Ty's like, whenever I'm like, what do you want to do for your birthday? He's like, Dinner? I'm like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. I need a re itinerary. Like it, I need to know where people are gonna be like marching, like yes, like we will be having a line parade into your room.
SPEAKER_03See, that's how I am too. I think right. That's one thing. I don't know, Riley. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think that's one thing that Riley has learned to love about me is that I like to do those types of things. I love to do. I think for a minute it was like, whoa.
SPEAKER_00What if we just start uh Dash, a pink party company? Stop it.
SPEAKER_03Dash of sparkle. Dash of Dash of Because it's gotta be for voice, too. Yeah, that's true. What about um other holidays? Because we talked about birthdays. Do you have any other ones?
SPEAKER_00Again, I don't know. It's kind of hard. I want to do the I want to invite the elf, hopefully.
SPEAKER_03Yes, you need to invite the elf alpha. Invite the elf. I will I will tell my elf to tell your elf to show up. Um I want to, I feel like a lot of my traditions that come to mind are like kind of in the kitchen, like baking different things. Like Valentine's Day, sugar cookies, like like random little things, dyeing eggs on Easter, just like kind of little activities that maybe aren't like super huge, like tradition things, but like kind of set the tone. I'm trying to think of I thought of one and I was like, oh, something that I want to start doing that we've never done is a summer bucket list. Oh, so we're gonna do a summer bucket list this year, and like what, but we're also gonna frame it like before the baby comes, too, because the baby will come at the end of summer. So I'm like, what do we want to do? Let's everyone choose something. I'm sure snow cones will be on there 45 times.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03I love snow cones right now. Yeah? Oh, they're so good.
SPEAKER_00Pregnant. Why are they snow cone ice but with just lemon juice on it?
SPEAKER_03Huh? Narr.
SPEAKER_00I also love lemons, but then also was craving like that's all I could eat in the first. That and pizza.
SPEAKER_03Like, so I just spit so like lemon juice squeezed over.
SPEAKER_00Or I would get uh snow cone ice or ice?
SPEAKER_03Snow cone ice.
SPEAKER_00I would try the just normal ice. It wasn't as good because it didn't like soak into it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you it needs to have it.
SPEAKER_00I didn't try like pebble ice though.
SPEAKER_03You could have you ever had true have you tried true lemon?
SPEAKER_00No, but you've told me many times.
SPEAKER_03I will send it to your house. I'm just gonna ship it to your house. It's just gonna ship it.
SPEAKER_00But I'd also just sit on the couch with like a slice of lemon and like salt.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. Love it. So you need you need those crystallized lemon packets. Yeah. If I had my car, I'd have some in my car, but I drove Riley's truck. Dang it. Way to go. Anyways, I I'm trying to think of other like little traditions. Halloween. I uh you're a big Halloween. Do you not have any Halloween traditions? Besides dressing up. What do you do with all your costumes?
SPEAKER_00Keep them.
SPEAKER_03You're just gonna keep them in a big box.
SPEAKER_00I'll as my kids get older, we'll do like a dress-up box. That's what my parents did.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, I'm keeping Hayden's this year, last year costume. Because I am I'm also a sentimental hoarder. Riley's like that. I am going to have a bin for like her special clothes. So all of her the things she wore on her first holidays, and then like her hospital outfit and like those big things I'm keeping. So I think every other like Halloween costume after this will be like a dress-up type thing.
SPEAKER_03Unless it's like a super memorable one. Um, I just had a thought come to my mind. I'm done having babies, and I need to go through all my girl clothes. Do you want some?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes. That's gonna be so sad for you.
SPEAKER_03That's gonna be so sad. That's gonna be so sad. I was actually thinking that. I was doing Piper's hair and I was like, oh, I'm not gonna have a baby girl to like do little girl hair. Okay. I'm so excited for little girl hair. Little girl hair's the best. Little girl hair is the best. Okay, I was talking about traditions that we want to start. Um, I asked chat what are traditions that like some people say like they're going to start. And they say a birthday interview questions yearly in a video. I've seen that. I want to do that, and I think they're so cute. Also, I think it's so fun to do those on like Mother's Day and Father's Day and have them say like their favorite thing.
SPEAKER_00We used to do that on Mother's Day and Father's Day. I'm not sure why we stopped. Maybe it's because Branson moved out, so everyone wasn't there.
SPEAKER_03That's so cute when he went on his mission. Um, yes days. I've never done a yes day. I'm terrified to do yes day.
SPEAKER_00Don't be afraid to do yes day.
SPEAKER_03I'm terrified to do yes day, especially Nixon. He is very methodical. Um, special birthday breakfast, we kind of do that. Um, summer kickoff party. I'm not sure what that means. It's just like Do you want to hear what we're doing this year? What? Riley and I are gonna pick up Nixon and we're gonna decorate the outside of the car and the inside of the car. And we're gonna say school summer summer, we're gonna put like streamers. Some it's so cute. We're gonna decorate the crap out of it, it's like this. It'll be this episode comes out Wednesday, right? Yeah. We're doing this on Thursday. So that's so cute. Go run to my Instagram because yeah, I'm so excited. Riley's like, I'm like, what if we just like do a little streamer? And he's like, no, if we're gonna do it, we're gonna do it. I'm like, yeah, we're gonna do it. We're gonna do it. Riley's just excited because this is his first like summer that he's had. Oh, that's I know. It's gonna be so funny. He's like, I could go to the pool with you guys. I'm like, we could do everything together. So exciting. It's gonna be so fun. I'm gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_00You guys can be here like all the time, right? Oh, you're gonna have a baby then.
SPEAKER_03Well, not for a while though. That's true. We got to do it.
SPEAKER_00You can just come and live with me and just float in my pool constantly.
SPEAKER_03Please. I need to get one of those stomachs. Oh, it was the best thing ever. Do you have a link? Will you send me one? Yeah, I'll find it. Okay, okay. The other ones that they said were movie nights. We've been doing this once a week, a family movie night. They just had uh the goat movie come out. It's like a basketball one. Nixon's been dying for a movie night. I've heard it's pretty good. It's pretty good, but we haven't had an official movie night. We had like a half movie night, and they watched some of it, but we need to do a full one with popcorn because it didn't count. Oh, it didn't count. I don't um what about like kid dates? Do you guys want to do that? I want to do that, but I don't know how to facilitate it. Yeah. You gotta know like how because we're gonna have four kids. Yeah. Like, do we do like one a week, one day a week, and then just rotate? That's a lot of dates. That's a lot. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, because then you don't want to do it like I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I love daddy daughter dates. It's so cute. They get so excited. Um, family vacations, and then one on one kid date. Those are kind of the other. What's one tradition that you did growing up you'll never forget?
SPEAKER_00Oh man. Um I don't know if this is setting up Christmas decorations was a huge thing for me. That's tradition. Yeah. And it started off as like my whole family, and then I got um a little bit controlling. And my mom also. I know, right? And my mom was also like, Oh, you want to set up the things that I don't want to set up? Great, have fun. And so fun. I was like, I knew everything went. I love decorating. I love it. Anyway, so the Christmas decorations was a huge thing for me.
SPEAKER_03We would always like turn on Christmas music and kind of like make it like a Christmas party when we would do it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's not the same as when I was a kid because I'd go next to the TV to our little like radio DVD CD player or everything. And I would go and press buttons and connect to the TV and like get it turned on. And like I feel like it's not the same as like having on the radio, you know?
SPEAKER_03Literally, literally.
SPEAKER_00My kids are like, Alexa, play this song. And I'm like, no, it's not the same.
SPEAKER_03Like, I'm like, you have to have like the Christmas ads and like yes. We my mom had a I hope I'm not saying the name wrong, but Mariah Carey, like CD that we would plug into the TV. Like we would slide it into the TV. I'm like, that's so weird. My kids just don't even, they can literally just be like, play this song. I'm like, that's so funny. Like we had curated.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03And I guess you can be like, play a playlist, but it's not the same vibe. It's not the same.
SPEAKER_00So Christmas decorations was a huge thing for me. That's decorations in general were a huge thing for me. Halloween and Christmas.
SPEAKER_03Halloween and Christmas. I'm trying to think what's one that I'll never forget. My great-grandma um used to make chocolates, and we do that every year. So making chocolates is probably one of my favorites. Oh, I don't know. I loved like Christmas jammies. Oh, Christmas. Like I love the matching jammies, and I kind of like to do that throughout the year now. Because my kids grow out of their pajamas so fast and it's fun to have PJs.
SPEAKER_00But we would do fondue on Christmas Eve.
SPEAKER_03I love that idea. Like a big do you do cheese and chocolate?
SPEAKER_00Cheese and chocolate, and we'd have two boil pots for like the chicken and the meat and the shrimp and everything.
SPEAKER_03That's so fun. We need to do a shrimp, like one of those seafood boils.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_03Have you fun? Next time I'm down. Maybe in June we do a family trip.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Deal.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Well, that's kind of all. What are your favorite traditions? We could do like a submission episode. We did, but it was at Christmas time. Like, I feel like we need to do like a how do you create magic or something.
SPEAKER_00That's a good one. How do you create magic?
SPEAKER_03We'll do a submission box for this one on and do like a form. We want to know how you create magic or how your childhood magic was created. So like we can kind of get new fun ideas. That'll be fun. We'll do that episode coming soon. Always remember that you are worth it. Love you. Bye. Bye. Happy first birthday, Haiti.
