Engaging the Culture with a Biblical Worldview
Culture is loud, fast, and confident. But confidence isn’t the same as truth. In a world shouting a thousand opinions, Jesus prayed one thing for His people: “Sanctify them in the truth.”
This is Wisdom and Wit, and I am your bible teacher, Chris Reighley. Today's scripture comes from the gospel of John chapter 17 verse 17 and it reads:
“Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.”
In His final prayer before the cross, Jesus didn’t ask the Father to remove us from the world—but to anchor us in truth while we engage it.
That’s the heart of a biblical worldview: not retreat, but resistance. Not cultural mimicry, but faithful presence.
Proverbs 22 reminds us that wisdom guards our steps. It trains children in righteousness. It prepares us to see through the lies of flattery, injustice, and greed.
John 17:17 is our compass. Scripture isn’t just “true”—it is truth. The plumb line. The standard. The sanctifying agent for every thought, word, and worldview.
To engage culture rightly, we must first be grounded deeply.
