This is Wisdom and Wit, and I am your bible teacher, Chris Reighley. Today's scripture comes from the book of Proverbs chapter 15 verse 1 and it says:
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.”
Proverbs 27 shows how iron sharpens iron—and sometimes that means friction. But Proverbs 15:1 reminds us: the goal of truth isn’t to win arguments, it’s to win hearts.
A gentle answer isn’t weak. It’s strategic. Powerful. It pours water on what could’ve been a wildfire. And that restraint? That Spirit-filled pause? It changes the outcome.
You never know what a soft word might rescue. A friendship. A marriage. A witness. Maybe even your peace.
