Every worldview begins somewhere. Ours begins with five words that change everything: “In the beginning, God created…”

In this foundational episode of Walking with God, Bible teacher Chris Reighley invites you to return to the opening lines of Scripture—and to rethink what they mean for how you live today. Genesis 1 is not just ancient poetry or theological theory—it’s the origin story of truth, identity, and purpose.

Anchored in 2 Peter 1:21, we explore how the Bible’s creation account is not the product of human imagination but divine revelation. That means your life isn’t random. It’s designed. And your faith? It’s grounded in the words of a God who speaks, creates, and calls His creation good.

Whether you’re building a biblical worldview or just wondering how it all began, this episode is your starting point.

And the Bible doesn’t start with a question. It starts with a God.

This is Wisdom and Wit, and I am your bible teacher, Chris Reighley.

Today's scripture comes from the book of 2 Peter chapter 1 verse 21, and it says

“For no prophecy was ever made by the will of man, but men being moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”

Genesis 1 isn’t poetry. It’s power. It declares that this world isn’t a cosmic accident—it’s the intentional artwork of a speaking, creating, personal God.

Creation tells us who we are: image-bearers, not carbon collisions. It tells us where we live: a designed world, not a random rock. And most importantly, it tells us who God is—a sovereign King, not a spectator.

2 Peter 1 reminds us that these aren’t just religious ideas—they’re revealed truth. Scripture is breathed out by God through human voices, including the very first line:

“In the beginning, God created…”

That truth doesn’t just explain where you came from. It shapes where you’re going.

Let me ask you a question:

  • Take five minutes today to read Genesis 1 out loud—slowly….
  • Write down one thing that strikes you about God as Creator.
  • Look for evidence of His design in something ordinary: a sunset, a fingerprint, a laugh.

This devotional connects with Walking with God, Episode 6: “Creation: The Origin of Everything.” In it, we build the foundation for a biblical worldview—starting where Scripture starts. Listen at ShoeLeatherGospel.com.

Let me pray for you today:...

Creator God, thank You for speaking the world—and my life—into being. Help me see this day as a masterpiece designed by You….

You were made on purpose, with purpose, by a God who never makes mistakes. Walk like it.
