Armor for the Anxious

Anxiety doesn’t knock—it barges in. With fear, fatigue, and a dozen “what ifs” in tow.
In this episode of Wisdom & Wit, Bible teacher Chris Reighley walks us through the armor of God in Ephesians 6, and the moment Christian receives his spiritual armor in The Pilgrim’s Progress. Because the battlefield isn’t just out there—it’s in our minds, our emotions, and our daily struggles.
God didn’t leave you exposed. He gave you armor, not for ceremony, but survival. And while the world says “try harder,” Scripture says “stand firm.”
This episode is for every anxious heart looking for real peace, real strength, and real security. Not in yourself, but in the God who equips you to stand.
You don’t have to fight unarmed. The armor’s ready. Suit up.

Ever notice anxiety never shows up alone? It brings friends: fear, fatigue, overthinking, and “what ifs.” It doesn’t knock—it barges in and sets up camp in your chest.
But God didn’t leave us vulnerable. He left us armor.
This is Wisdom and Wit, and I am your bible teacher, Chris Reighley.
Today's scripture comes from the book of Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 11, and it says
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”
Christian receives his armor before facing battle. He’s given a shield of faith, a sword of the Spirit, a helmet of salvation. It’s not ceremonial—it’s survival gear.
Too many anxious believers try to fight battles with emotional effort or “just think positive.” But Scripture doesn’t say try harder—it says stand firm.
Armor isn’t about your strength. It’s about God’s strategy. He’s outfitted you for spiritual resistance—not by numbing your feelings but by grounding them in truth.
So next time anxiety shows up, suit up. And remember: fear isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a sign to reach for the armor again.
Let me ask you a question
- Which piece of God’s armor are you most often neglecting?.
- Meditate on Ephesians 6:10 thru 18 and visualize putting on each piece.
- Pray: “Lord, help me wear Your armor—not my worry—today.”
Christian’s armor reminds us we’re not called to a casual stroll—we’re on mission. Equip your heart for the battle with more truth at ShoeLeatherGospel.com
Let me pray for you today:
God, cover me today. Help me walk into the world not exposed by fear but armed with Your strength….
Anxiety may knock, but it can’t get past the armor. Suit up and stand strong.
