Most blessings come with a catch. But not this one.
In this episode of Footsteps of the Messiah, Bible teacher Chris Reighley uncovers the forgotten promise of Revelation 1:3—a blessing simply for reading, hearing, and keeping the words of prophecy. You don’t need a seminary degree or an end-times chart. You just need an open Bible and a willing heart.
With fresh insight from The Pilgrim’s Progress, we’ll see how Christian’s journey was shaped by what he read in the Book. In the same way, prophecy isn’t designed to spook us—it’s meant to steady us. It magnifies Christ, clarifies our future, and calls us to walk in readiness.
If you’ve ever avoided Revelation because it felt overwhelming, this episode will remind you: it’s not a mystery to decode—it’s a Savior to behold.
📖 Read it. Keep it. Be blessed by it.

Most blessings in life are conditional. “Blessed are the early risers,” says your productivity coach. “Blessed are the planners,” says your calendar.
But Revelation opens with a blessing just for reading it. No timeline chart required.
This is Wisdom and Wit, and I am your bible teacher, Chris Reighley
Today's scripture comes from the book of Revelation, chapter 1, verses 13, and it says
“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy and keep the things which are written in it; for the time is near.”
Christian’s journey is shaped by what he’s read in the Book. That’s why he runs from Destruction—because he knows what’s coming. And Revelation, for all its mystery, is a book that blesses the reader.
Why? Because it shows us Christ as Victor, the Church in glory, and evil defeated for good.
We’re not called to decode every symbol, but to keep what’s written. The blessing is in the believing, the obeying, and the watching.
So if you’ve avoided Revelation because it feels intimidating, start with this promise: Read it. You’ll be blessed
Let me ask you a question
- Read Revelation 1 aloud today. What stands out?...
- Write down what this prophecy shows you about Jesus, not just the end times.
- Ask: How can I live ready, not just curious?
In Episode 2 of Footsteps of the Messiah, we explore why prophecy blesses the believer—and how to approach it with joy, not fear. Listen at ShoeLeatherGospel.com
Let me pray for you today:
Lord, give me eyes to see what You’ve revealed—and a heart that watches, waits, and walks faithfully
Prophecy isn’t spooky—it’s hopeful. Read it with your eyes open and your heart ready.
