That Nashville Girl
“Are you that Nashville girl with the podcast?”
Yep — that’s me.
I’m the girl you see around town with the (patent-pending) bob. The one who can’t stop talking about the artist I just discovered or the songwriter I caught at a writer’s round that somehow changed my life a little. I pick my favorite athletes based on their charities and personalities — not just what they do on the field. And when I go out, I notice everything… the service, the drinks, the lighting, the energy, who’s sitting where and why.
Basically, I’m your unofficial Nashville bestie.
The one who tells you who to listen to before they blow up.
Who you should be paying attention to (and why).
And what actually lives up to the hype in a city that has a lot of it.
And each week, I sit down with someone in this city you might already know — or absolutely should — and we get into the stories, the moments, and the behind-the-scenes stuff that makes you feel like you’re a little more in it than everyone else.
It’s fun, it’s real, it’s a little unfiltered… and it’s the Nashville I love so much!

I stepped in with zero business experience, never worked in a restaurant, and I felt like I was like thrown to the sharks because it was like, you know, just nothing that I was prepared for. Um, and so shout out to all restaurant industry people. Hospitality is like, it's a whole different ballgame.
SPEAKER_03Carolyn, I am so happy that you're here. And thank you for bringing us the cutest drinks from Wanna Spoon. And I love what your shirts say.
SPEAKER_01What do they say? Wanna spoon and then Well, there's like different ones like get your mind out of the udder or um wanna spoon. It's a it's not a question mark, it's a cereal bar. Yes, that was my big spoon to Nashville. It's all the different sayings. They're so cute.
SPEAKER_03Cheers with our amazing um cereal milk latte. Yes. Who doesn't love cereal milk? Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01We infuse the milk um with like fruity pebbles, and you can do dairy free or um regular milk.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I have to know before we talk about anything else. I have to know how you came up with this idea because it's genius.
SPEAKER_01Oh, well, thank you. I appreciate that. I moved originally from Canada for my music, and um, it was something where I just talked about what which is so weird. I was with a girlfriend the other night and she's like, You talked about this like 10 years ago. Did you know that? And I was like, Did I? And so anyway, it was just I loved growing up eating, you know, cereal with my dad any time of day. And I was like, wouldn't that be cool if there was a place where you could have it all day long? And um it and then I feel like a few years before we opened, I remember sitting at Frothy Monkey in um the on 12 South with my mom. And I was telling her about the idea again, and she's like, Well, you keep talking about it, come up with a business plan um and a name. But she's like, We're not gonna financially help you there because we helped enough with music and everything. And so I ended up writing it all out, and I feel like I manifested it because then my friend Matt invited me to a dinner maybe a year or a year or two later, and um this guy Steve Kovac was there and he was talking about a restaurant he was opening up with his wife, Elaine, on 12 South, and at that time it was Emery, and they had a house beside it and they didn't know what to do with it. So, like my friend Matt was like, Kira, you should tell your idea about Wanna Spoon. And I'm like thinking, Oh, okay, he's not gonna really care, but okay. So I tell my whole idea, and he was like, Meet me at 8 a.m. And I was like, Oh, really? I'll be there. And then yeah, everything I like drew out and everything. I so I feel like the stars aligned really, and I feel very like blessed that that was such a huge opportunity for me.
SPEAKER_03It's so amazing. What year was that that you said?
SPEAKER_01We opened so this July 15th would be four years. Yes, four years, which is just nuts. Yeah, time goes by too fast.
SPEAKER_03I mean it really does four years is so impressive in any business, but in the restaurant business. Thank you. And in Nashville, I mean, I think I do believe you manifested that though. I'm a big believer in writing it down, yes, making it real. Yeah. And then it's the hard work, you know, you you can't just manifest it and forget it. We're sitting here with our abundance candle from House of Intuition. So I was gonna say it smells so good in here. So funny that we're talking about this, but that's I it's like, you know, let's manifest what we want. And abundance is the vibe.
SPEAKER_01100%.
SPEAKER_03But in Nashville, people have a lot of choices for where to eat and what to do for entertainment. You have created such a cute space. Oh, thank you. It's perfect. You get people that want to just take pictures at the murals, right? And you've got a great little wall out there. And then it's all so Instagrammable. Oh, the TikToks, right? People come in because they've seen it. Yeah. So once you had the plan and you I said, okay, we're gonna do this, then how did you start creating the colors and the vibes?
SPEAKER_01And so I love like pastel colors. That's just something I've always loved. And um, I thought, like, want a spoon, it sounds like, you know, cereal bar, it's gotta be fun. Um, and everything kind of like was just like for the fruit loops. I was like, okay, I wanted something where it was like whether it was fruity pebbles or fruit loops kind of like trickling down. I was thinking like two kind of glass panels with like cereal kind of like trickling down, but then didn't know how to execute that. And um, our project manager at the time, Lauren Greenley, she helped a lot. She's like super creative and she was like, we could do like big life-size fruit loops or something. So made those out of plaster, took many days and hours um to do those like on like plywood and then you know, mounting it, all that stuff. Um, then we learned, which I'm still to this day having to pick them back up and uh we redo them. Victoria, my operations manager, is incredible. Shout out to her. Um, she helps with that, but we make them out of styrofoam now, so they actually stay. But all these things were just trial and error. Um, all the spoons, like we have a spoon ball up top of like above the cereal kind of station. Um, and those we just got off like Etsy and Amazon, like just like cheap old spoons. Um, spray painted them, glued them up with had to work with different types of glue. And needless to say, I hate crafts, so this was nothing that I liked. Yeah, and my mom's an artist, so she was like, she would always try to push crafts on me. I'm like, it's just I was more like acting, dancing, singing, not so much tedious things I have zero patience for. So but you did it, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But I live a team to help for sure. Yeah, no, that's a team sport, yes. Sure, yes, 100%. Well, did you have it in your mind at that time when you guys were putting all this stuff together that it would be so social media friendly where people would want to stop and take pictures?
SPEAKER_01No, I mean, I at that time, like I don't think I was even realizing murals were like I know the wings in the gulch, like because I live in the gulch and I would always look at those, but or that. Um, but no, I never really thought that it was gonna be such an Instagrammable thing. And I'm like, thank god now, because that is some uh to be honest, some people just come there, take a picture, and then leave, which I'm like, please take us.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes, but please stay for a coffee, yeah, stay for a latte. I mean, but it is it's great, it's it's free advertisement. Yeah, and and people do love it. You've kind of made the I mean, people take tours now of you know where to go take these photograph moments in Nashville, and you're you're on the walk, which is cool. Okay, well thank you. I know it's fun. You're like, oh, it's a traditional walk. I didn't know that. Yeah, I was yesterday, I was um in 12th South and in the the neighborhood of 12th South and walked by and it was just crazy. The parking lot is so busy with your market and everything. And it's just when the weather is out, people are ready to just stop in all the places.
SPEAKER_01I will say, like, we are very like a weather-dependent place, which you know is hard because you still have bills to pay, you still have rent to pay, all those things. So we definitely slow down um once tourist tourism leaves, um, depending on the weather, how cold it is, raining. Um, so we are such a like, you know, when kids are out of school pretty much, we're we're busy. Um, but that's why I'm trying to do more things to get, you know, just involved in like the community and have like we want local people coming back, not just the tourists that are there for one stop shop and then they leave, you know what I mean? So, which we want, we want everyone, you know.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Well, we have to say, so you know, we have to give a shout out to our social media content coordinator, Kendall. She's fine, fine you find me? Fine mew. See, I wasn't Greek, so I don't know these things, but she's fine me. And you guys have done some events.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, Belmont. Yeah, absolutely. We just did one the other night that was the you have to remind me, the um guy case. I'm like, I cannot keep okay. In Canada, I don't know. I said that we didn't have sororities in for fratern for um frats. Yeah, frats or whatever. Okay, but then my cousins were like, yeah, we do. And I was like, okay, was I not invited?
SPEAKER_02Because like I don't know where these are like I do.
SPEAKER_01But I feel like they're such a bigger thing here than they are in Canada, I feel but it's really cool, and yeah, we do lots of give back nights and anything like that. I mean, um, Laura Hartley, she's um uh she is TN Littles at Instagram, and she does like a story time at Wanna Spoon with little kids, like anything to get like I say yes to pretty much anyone that comes in and not everyone, but yeah, you know, it's just why not? Like it's a it's a cool space, and so it benefits both worlds, really.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I love that. Yeah, it was it was fun to hear that from Kendall, who who's in the studio with us today, so that's fun. So, but you didn't move to Nashville to be a restaurant owner, you moved here for music. And you said earlier you have a background in dancing and theater and singing, but you moved here. Your music is great. I love your song Colorado. Thank you. It's so good. But okay, when are we getting new music? Are you still doing this?
SPEAKER_01I know it's hard when you're yeah, I feel like I draw, I like I felt like it was hard to like balance everything. I think because Wanna spoon, I stepped in with zero business experience, never worked in a restaurant. So all these things, it was kind of overwhelming to like learn all at once. Um and I felt like I was like thrown to the sharks because it was like, you know, just nothing that I was prepared for. Um, and so shout out to all restaurant industry people. Hospitality is like it's a whole different ball game. But no, I do I miss my music for sure. I'm writing actually more now than ever. I feel like I'm, if anything, I'm starting to realize I'd rather I think I want to go more the songwriting route than like release music. Not to say I won't release music, but um, I'm like even writing guy songs now and stuff. So I'm like, I would love um yeah, to like have my songs sung by other people. I think that would be really cool. Oh, I can't even imagine. So I have a publishing deal with um Music, they're called. Um, and so yeah, I would love for that world to happen for me.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so who's your dream artist? If you've got an artist here in Nashville that you're like, wow, please cut a song of mine, who is it? Ooh, I mean to manifest it.
SPEAKER_01That's a tough one. I mean, I did think recently there's this song that I did write um that Kelsey Ballerini would be a really good person to sing that song. I think she would like it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, we're putting that in the universe. And she's always working on new stuff. So I think that's a good one to put out there. Yeah. Oh, I want to hear it. Yeah. Um, yeah, you may have to send me that one to listen to. And you guys have similar vibes actually, so I can hear that. I can hear that in your voice singers. That's cool. Yeah. So when you originally moved here, what year did you move to Nashville?
SPEAKER_01I always say like 2017, I kind of got my first apartment, but I was always making, you know, I was always going back and forth. Like I would be like, okay, I want to go back home. I'm really close with my family, so that was always tough. Um, but I would say like the last like five years of like marriage and want a spoon is like, okay, I'm like here, you know. So um really trying to not, it's it's hard because it's like I miss home so much and I miss my family. So then I'll often be like, it's kind of like you got the one foot out, then one foot in one foot in. So I'm like trying to, I really need to build my own roots here and you know, finding a home and those kind of things here.
SPEAKER_03It's hard though. I mean, I think so. You're from Canada, and in some ways that doesn't feel that far, right? It's not a bad flight to get home, but it is hard because now your heart's in two places. Yes, for sure. Always. Yes, 100%.
SPEAKER_01That's hey, that's a song idea. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_03Write it, write it. I love it. Please write it. Because I have felt like that a lot of times when I've moved, I've lived other places, and I always feel like I if I could be two places at one time, yes, that's what I would like.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I know.
SPEAKER_03Because you've clearly like you've rooted down. I mean, this is you've made a home here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And and it feels very natural for you. Yeah, yeah. And Nashville is such a like welcoming place. I mean, so many nice people, and you know, and I I will say it's definitely more of a hustle here. But then granted, it's not like I own a restaurant in Edmonton where I'm from, right? So when I go back home, it's like, you know, seeing family, visiting friends, you know, hanging out with my parents. And so, of course, that's gonna be more relaxing than when I'm here and it's like hustle, bustle. And I feel like everyone is hustling here because you know, it's it's really an expensive place to live. Um, and everyone around us, I mean, we're it's you know, it's a blessing and curse that everyone's doing something, you know. So it makes you feel like you gotta keep keep it going.
SPEAKER_03It's so true. I that's such a good way to say that because I feel like the hustle, I thrive in it. Like I feel like my creativity thrives in Nashville, unlike any other place. Yeah. Because everyone is doing it. Yes. But it also is an element of there's there's no downtime.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what it feels like. And that's why I'm trying to be better at being intentional with like timing and just being able to say no. Like Victoria, my operations manager, got me a little card that you have to punch it to say no. I think I've punched it once in the last year, but that's fine. Wait, how does the card work? Just if you say no, you can like hole punch it. So it's like, or like cross it off.
SPEAKER_03And do you get a prize when you punch so many? No, I should tell her to give me a prize.
SPEAKER_01Victoria, we need prizes. She gives me enough gifts and stuff. No, she's so wonderful. But no, I just think you're being intentional and like being okay to like this last weekend. My husband was on a bachelor trip, and I was like, I was like, oh, I should go out with friends and I should do this and that. And I was like, all this, you know, because I'm never really just like alone. And then I was like, what if I just like stay in by myself and actually say no to everything right now? And honestly, I feel like revived right now that I had a whole weekend in and it felt like I had a whole week off just by that day in and watching TV and tried not to feel guilty about it.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, it was hard.
SPEAKER_01So a rainy day is good for that.
SPEAKER_03Exactly.
SPEAKER_01I love a good rainy day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. When you opened the restaurant, I mean, are you guys seven days a week? I can't remember. Yeah. So we're open every single day. Yeah. Okay. So how did you balance that not wanting to be there every single minute?
SPEAKER_01I feel like during the week, I'm definitely there like every I would say afternoons. I'm always there during the week. And then weekends is tough because it's like that's when, like again, like my husband, I'm like, I would love to. We want to go look at homes or like, you know, because he's really busy with all of his businesses. And so it's like, when do we find that like time? And so it's hard though, because I would like to spend more time there on the weekends and stuff, especially with the market and everything going on there. Um, of course, all the craziness happens on Saturday, Sunday, because that's our for sure busy days.
SPEAKER_03So when you I mean, it has to be crazy to just be like, I'm missing all of that. But I want people to realize that so if if we have people that are outside of Nashville, they have to come visit and go to 12 South area. And because you've got this cute market with some great vendors in the parking lot doing fun things, and then you've got your area. Um, you have Ophelia Tacos there, Winky Lux. I mean, just everything in one little spot. So it's a really hop and place on the weekends. Yeah. But for people who are like, what area are you guys talking about? It's 12 South. Yeah. And you can just go and spend, I mean, you can spend a day, honestly. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, for sure. And there's so many new places. Um, you know, the Ashwood Project went to Sushi Sand the other night. That was really good. I haven't been yet. I love Henry on the rooftop. Um, Postinos has a good happy hour, love a good happy hour. Um, but yeah, 12 South is a very vibrant um place for sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Do you find it was easy to kind of acclimate into restaurant lifestyle with other owners, founders, chefs in Nashville? How do you guys work together or support each other, even though there's so much competition?
SPEAKER_01I I honestly feel like um this place, my friend uh Nicole, she actually has um, I don't, she does, she works for it's called um Star Chef, I believe. Starchef. And I this was my first actually kind of event I went to with other restaurant owners and stuff. And so that was really cool. I'm gonna go to an event that they have again in July. Um, because to be honest, I am really bad at like my mom always says, like, I'll be upstairs at Wanaspoon, like working for my office. And she's like, you should go to like a coffee shop or like get out there, you know, because like I'm just kind of hiding upstairs and working. But like, um, yeah, I would like to like go around even to 12 self, like I haven't even met some of the owners. Like I know um Urban Grub, though. I love Urban Grub. Like the owner there, Jay, um, uh, their manager, uh Heidi is wonderful, and like, you know, we help each other out as far as like, hey, this guy we got broken into or something like that. So that kind of stuff, it's such a welcoming um neighborhood. But no, I would like to actually be introduced to more, you know, restaurant owners so I could just like share the pain sometimes. Even a little support group. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03We might need to do a restaurant owner roundtable podcast. Yeah, so there'd be a lot of stories, right? We should do a lot of stories. We'll bring our pink chairs to your one-a-spoon location. We'll do it on location. I think that would be a double level.
SPEAKER_01We should do that. We should all we need definitely some wine, probably. Wine. So we'll have to everybody brings their favorite dish, right?
SPEAKER_03Everyone bring your favorite restaurant. Okay, so restaurant owners in Nashville, listen, we're we're ready. Let's do it. We can plan this, you and me. Absolutely. We've got a space, yeah, exactly. But I know what you mean about not working in the coffee shops. I struggle with that. I don't get as much done. I'm envious of those people.
SPEAKER_01I know. Like, I I do feel like I would like to be like that. But yeah, I feel like I well, it's hard because that wanna spoon, like Victoria and I talk about, like, we'll be up there and she's like, she thinks she gets more work done at a coffee shop because then when we're there, physically there, there's someone knocking on the door, like um, you know, um, bringing drinks for us to sample, or you know, um, the toilet's not working, or like this or that, or someone called out and we gotta go hop the floor. So it's like it's I don't know, it's that balance of not really, it's you know, you gotta choose, yeah, where to be, I guess.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's a really good point. Yeah. And you'd rather taste the drinks than do the toilet. Yeah, exactly. For sure. Okay, tell me about the drinks. I'm dying to know how y'all come up with these recipes because you've done some really cool things. So I love what you're doing with concerts and with live nation. And you recently did something with Hillary Duff where you created kind of a signature drink for the tour.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So Kat, our lead barista, she so Sherman, my manager, Kat, our lead barista, and then Victoria, who I've mentioned, my operations manager, like they have all been with me since before we opened. Um, so it's so amazing. I'm so grateful that they've stayed like all this time. Um, and we all make a really great team. But yeah, Kat's really the one that she's in the back, like, I mean, making her own syrups. And yeah, she comes up with lots of different flavors. Live Nation also helped with like they sent what they specifically wanted for the drink. Um, what kind of for inspiration of what for it to be. So I love that. Yeah, it's really fun. But I say to them sometimes, I'm like, okay, no more specials right now. Cause it's like, then it's like I don't want to overwhelm. Because sometimes, you know, I've I read this study about, I think it was the owner of Trader Joe's or something, said like it customers almost leave unhappy when there's overwhelming options, right? Like you want almost less options. And I feel like Wanna Spoon is one of those places where we offer so much that it could be a good and a bad thing, right? Because like you got a huge menu already. Um, but I it's always fun to have a special, of course, especially if it's gonna be about Hillary Dev.
SPEAKER_03I mean, absolutely. I was like, what?
SPEAKER_01Yes, we will create a drink for that.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh. Do you remember what was like a key ingredient in that one? Do you remember? Um, what did she do?
SPEAKER_01Um, we're gonna have to go back to Instagram. The lucky, oh, it was like lucky charms, I think esque. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Love lucky charms.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then her, and then when she's on tour that um the weekend that she's here for those two concerts, I'm like, we should bring that drink back then. Yeah. So she can come in and have it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, for sure. I think it's really, I mean, but it has to be hard on your baristas. You guys having because you do have a pretty robust menu. So then you've got to add in specials. Yeah. I that's an interesting thing to hear about that with the like overwhelming. I'm trying to think of when I'm at a place. My biggest thing is I don't want to miss out on the thing that makes you unique and special, right? So this like cereal milk latte is the thing that people should absolutely have. Yeah. But I also like to try the new things. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, we always have like new things coming. Um, but and of course, this I would say, like out of everything, the swirls, like where we mix the cereal into the ice cream, that's definitely the most popular. Like, I was thinking it was gonna be the cereal, but it's actually not. It's this, it's the ice cream, really.
SPEAKER_03Did you do that? You said you ate with your dad as a kid.
SPEAKER_01Did you have cereal in your ice cream? Um, no, I never did that. But I was thinking, I was like, well, we can't just do cereal bowls. Yeah. Right. Because I was like thinking about, yeah, like how would we do that with like, and then I was like, well, ice cream would be cool. Didn't and then we started researching if there was a machines. Um, swirl freeze has been really great to work with. Um, whenever something goes down, then they'll come and fix it immediately. And so um, yeah, they've been really good to work with for sure. But I grew up eating um rice krispies with banana. I love like the little popping, and I love rice crispies, but they didn't move at one a spoon, like no one was really buying them. So, like they need colored. I'm like, what the heck? We're in the States, of course. People want colored dye, colored dye everything, even though they're getting rid of that now, though. Yeah, it's gonna be interesting. That'll be it'll be, yeah, because I mean we have bright stuff in Canada too, like our fruit loops, but they're not as like vibrant as they are here. Um, but we don't have those dyes, you know?
SPEAKER_03So well, I grew up with my dad putting fruity pebbles on our ice cream. Oh, really? And so when I saw what you guys were doing, it was so nostalgic for me. But I've asked other people if they've had this experience. That's what I was hoping that you did too. Because I haven't heard this from many people, but my dad was all about swirling those fruity pebbles in. He would love one a spoon. Um, but yeah, it is it's funny that we have all these vibrant colors and all of the things. Have you guys done anything with because protein's all the rage, right? Do you do any protein cereals or powders or anything like that?
SPEAKER_01So originally when we opened for coffee, like we're really trying to get our coffee out there more because a lot of people actually still walk in and they don't even realize we have coffee. But originally, um, Elaine, my business partner, she's really we're both into like putting collagen in our drink or like the golden mill, I mean the you know, turmeric and all that kind of stuff. Lines main and whatever. But we did have that originally, and it just again, people didn't really seem to want to do that. So I feel like they think of us as more a treat place, but I would love to have more of those healthy options. Um, even maybe having like frozen yogurt, like I would love to add that. But my employees are like, stop adding to the menu.
SPEAKER_03Maybe one day that's a good point, though, that they think. It's a treat.
SPEAKER_01I mean they do. I think that that's what more it is, but um, but we have healthy options too. Like we had oatmeal and like granola bowl, you could do like so. There's like definitely your healthier options, and then of course, alternative milks as well. We have, which is nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's a big theme for people these days, absolutely. Yeah, okay. So, besides your own restaurant, I'm curious. What's your go-to spot? Like, what's the place that if you're gonna go, you and Victoria are gonna actually hop out for lunch one day? Where are you headed?
SPEAKER_01Um, well, we went recently. I always love bar taco, of course, especially their patio is so great. Um, I am so bad though, was just sticking to the Calton 12 cells. I need to venture out, honestly. And this is because there's amazing restaurants. But yeah, like I said, I love like Henry, Bar Taco, Hostinos, like even so many within walking distance. I know it's hard. Why would you? You know, but yes, there are so many other places to go. Yes, that are great.
SPEAKER_03No, but that makes sense for you guys for lunch. Once you're parked, if you get a parking spot, you're staying in. Absolutely, yeah, for sure. Yeah, that makes absolute sense. Yeah. So what is on the horizon for you guys? Do you guys have anything fun for summer? Any, you know, specials or anything that people should know about when they come visit?
SPEAKER_01Well, I definitely um we have, of course, liquor now too. So we have like you do a goozy milkshake, you get high noons, you could add Kalua, Bailey's to your coffee, whatever, or even to your milkshake. Um, espresso martini, um cat made made up a really good recipe that's really good. Um, so we have that. We have our portable wanaspoon trailer. So we'll also be taking that now to like the 12 South Market, um, starting in May, actually. Um, which the trailer turned out to be a lot more work, that's for sure. But that's okay. To just build it out or no, just like to take it. Like, I can't physically take it myself because you gotta like hook it to a the whatever it's called, the hitch thing. And then like I'm like, what is going on? This is not me. No. So I'm like, I need my husband or someone to help. Yeah. Um, and then yeah, of course, you can like a lot of people don't know you can rent out our backyard space. Like, um, you know, if we don't come to you for a birthday with the trailer, like we can also we have birthdays already rentals coming up. Um, so we even can attach our trailer to the back of Wanna Spoon. So it's basically your own closed-off area. That is such a fun party vibe. Yeah, and then and then moms really like it because they're like, there's not apparently there, I don't have kids yet, but I heard there's not a lot of places to take your kids and it's enclosed as well. So you can close off the gate and then like they're running around and playing and yeah, works out. They can milk the cow. That's so cute. My business partner originally, he was like, We gotta have um tequila, like tequila cow, we'll call. I'm like, no, what is happening? But then I was thinking, I was like, maybe we could do that where we like rent out though if it was a bachelorette group or something, like put a drink in the cow and they milk it.
unknownI don't want to put it in the cow. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Okay, someone out here is listening to this saying, I will be the first. So you're gonna get a message from a bachelorette somewhere.
SPEAKER_02If I get a message message, then I will consider that.
SPEAKER_03We'll do it, yes, and we'll come film content for that.
SPEAKER_02We'll do it at the restaurant, we'll do it at the restaurant on podcasts.
SPEAKER_03Let's do it with espresso martinis. Absolutely. Um, but I do think that's so fun for people to know that you can rent that out and that you have the option to take it to them. I mean, yeah. If you've got a party, it doesn't matter which part of town you're in. If you want want a spoon to show up, you can just have the trailer come. Yep, absolutely. I love that. Yes, and that's a fun option for a party.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure. And like I was even thinking for like weddings, like, you know, at the end of the night, like I've been to weddings where they have like, say, like daddy just dogs or like just something or a sweet treat or whatever. So we could literally have in in the trailer though, we do our cereal Sundays. So we layer the cereal and the ice cream because we brought the swirl machine one time and we mounted it in the swirl in I mean in the trailer, and literally on the way to a market, it tipped over and like it was not a very fun experience. No, so needless to say, I was like, it's just already a lot of work with the trailer. So the cereal Sundays are delicious too. So they work.
SPEAKER_03Actually, cereal Sunday at the end of a wedding night, perfect. Yeah, so I was like, that could be a thing. Yes, and wedding season is here. I love that. Yeah, that's cute. Okay, so I've had so much fun having you here. You're gonna work on some new music for us because I do I love your music. I think that's so fun. And you're so multi-talented to have all of these things going on. So before we head out for the day, I want to ask you um one more thing, which is life advice. I love talking about life advice, and this is not a self-help show, but I think it's fun to just kind of get your best life advice. But I like it in three words-ish, three words or less.
SPEAKER_01Don't give up. I know that's such a cliche, but like with everything, I mean, in the beginning, I remember the thick of it, like when we opened the doors at Wanna Spoon. Like that first year was like pure chaos for me. And I was like, I don't think I can do this. Like, I was at home like crying because that and I don't even think my business partners knew that, but they already had a lot of restaurants that they've opened up. But that was like, you know, obviously my first business venture, and it just was like overwhelming. And so it's just like good to remind yourself like it, you know, the storm will pass. That's also another one. Storm will pass. That's actually really good. I should say that.
SPEAKER_03You have two perfect ones. No, I think don't give up and the storm will pass because they go together. That's really good advice. And especially, I think, in the first year of anything, a new venture of any kind. Um, you know, they say first year of marriage is the hardest. Oh, I'm I'm learning the third year is the hardest. I mean, I didn't last very long, so I think they're all hard. Yeah, but um, but I do think that in the beginning of anything, yeah, you're learning so many new things. Yeah, that it's really important to remember that if you just you had the idea for a really good reason.
SPEAKER_01Oh, thank you. I appreciate that. So, and and you look at you, four years in. Thank you. Well, I really appreciate that. And also we have April 25th, speaking of Belmont, I just remembered that we have a big writer's round coming up. That's this Saturday. I was like, what day are we on? Yeah, this Saturday, Belmont will have a big round um there with like multiple different writers. Yeah, and some really big writers, it looks like so.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so you do um, this is a really good point. You do actually have a lot of music things.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, I wanted to um incorporate my music somehow. And so we built a stage back there, and I originally was thinking like a writer round like once a week or something, and I wanted to call it wanna jam because we have wanna putt, like you can do we have a little putting couple holes. So I was like, Wanna jam? Everything's wana. And so um, but then it was like a lot of work for me to like, I don't know, go out and get artists every week. I mean, it just took away more time than I thought, um, especially with me also trying to do my music as well. Um, so now I'm just like I offer the space to really anyone that wants to host around. So if anyone wants to host around, you can hit me up.
SPEAKER_03That's so good to know. Yeah. It's a great place to host around.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it really is a vibe because like out back, I mean, there's no other, I don't think, right around Son 12 South. And then like it's nice, like string lights out back. So it's pretty, it's a nice vibe. And then sometimes if we just have like um a small round or something, we'll put them in the uh front yard. So then it's kind of cool because then it draws people in, right? People that are walking, they're like, Oh, there's music right now, so they'll come sit. And we have fire pits in the fall, which are really nice. And when it gets colder, obviously it's about to get really hot, so no one's gonna want fire to burn them.
SPEAKER_03We'll wait for fall and then fires. Gosh, okay. Well, this has been so fun. Thank you so much for being here. For having me.
SPEAKER_01I love your podcast, and it's just amazing. Yeah, everything you're doing with your show is amazing.
SPEAKER_03Thank you. Well, it's all about you guys because you're the heart of the city, so it's really happy for me to be part of that. Um, and we're gonna do a giveaway with this episode, which will be so fun. So people will be able to get a cute wanna spoon shirt.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're really and that was one of our first um shirts that we ever did, and we've actually yeah, kept reordering it because it's worked out well. So it's like stacked bowls on the back. It's really cute.
SPEAKER_03It's so cute. So yeah, we'll do a giveaway and um yes, cheers. Thank you so much for being here. Sometimes a girl's gotta find her way on her own, free to roam, and make mistakes.
