24th September 1995: The Scots That Seized The Spotlight
So the 24th of September gave us a day when Scotland’s finest shone on opposite sides of the Atlantic. In 1995, David Coulthard broke through for his maiden victory at Estoril, while Michael Schumacher edged ever closer to his second crown. In 1989, Nigel Mansell’s defiance of a black flag created chaos and shifted the balance of that year’s title fight. And in 1972, Jackie Stewart proved once again why he was a master of his craft, climbing from fifth on the grid to win at Mosport Park as McLaren celebrated a double podium.
Two Scots in the spotlight, one black flag ignored, and three races that remind us just how much drama a single day in Formula One history can deliver.
Join us tomorrow as we uncover more stories, shocks, and surprises from racing’s rich and chequered past.
